Merge two partition in one

Good day all .
i have created new partition for time machine and i named it "HD" , later i decided to resize this partition and add more space , but by mistake i created new partition named "HD2" .
Now what all i just want to do : merge both partition in one .
How i can do that please ?

you can't do that using disk utility if you have data on both partitions. The best you can do (if everything works well) is save the upper of the two partitions (and keep the data on it) and erase the lower one.
To do this start DU, select the HD and click on the partition tab. select the lower of the two partitions and click on the - sign. The partition will erase. Then grab the lower end of the upper partition and drag it down to cover the freed space. Click apply.
However, even this procedure could fail so be careful using it.

Hello,
I have a satellite L40 with a hard disk drive partitioned into two ( C and E ), one having 37GB capacity the other almonst 36 GB.
The C drive is almost full and the E drive almost empty. I would like to take away the partition and have just one drive, is this possible.
Any advice would be gratefully received. I am not a techi so be kind.

Of course this is possible
You can do this in disk management.
Just click right on My Computer -> Manage
Here choose disk management.
Now you have to delete the E partition. Then the free space could be added to the C partition.
But note; before you would do this, create the recovery disk (if you didnt this in the past.)

How to merge two partitions on lion

Hello everyone.
I have a big problem... I want to merge two partitions... (I know, disk utility...).
In fact, I can't merge a partion which looks locked, with my lion partition via disk utility.
On this locked partition I had my old snow leopard OS still installed before deleting it, I wanted at th begining just try lion, and do a fresh install. (which is donenow)
Some more informations for you :
I have windows 7 via bootcamp installed.
Also, I have a save of my booting partition on time machine.

Even if software is going to make it happen, you are still faced with the possibility of power failure in the process, which would wipe the entire drive in one swoop if it happens at the wrong time. Better to clone both partitions to a larger hard drive, and then erase, repartition, and copy back over the boot data first, and import the rest by hand.

Merging two cubes into one

Is it possible to merge two cubes into one , if so how ??

but in these cube when they r doing the demand planning, they r doing on different levels.
We have one option of merging the cubes but planning across the two cubes
or
same cube with alternate hierarchy.

How can I merge two iTunes folder, one with music and the other without?

Two years ago Apple support suggested moving my iTunes folder out of my Home folder to the HD level in order to share it across users. This is no longer necessary. How do I move my music back to my Home folder since now I have an Itunes folder at the HD level (along with application, library, system, users folders) and an Itunes folder under Music in my Home folder. For example both those itunes folders have a mobile application, album artwork, and previous itunes library subfolder as well as itunes library extras.itdb and itunes library genius.itdb. How do I merge them or which ones do I delete? The files in the mobile app folder in my Home folder have a newer "last modified" date. Currenty under Itunes-->Preferences-->Advanced, it says Itunes media location is /itunes/itunes media/ music. I assumes that is the HD level folder. What happens if I hit reset?
I am using Itunes 10.6.3.
Any help tailored to a novice would be great. Thanks.

If you are willing to continue helping, here's what I found.
Just to clarify the two iTunes folders I am refering to are:
username-->Music-->iTunes
HD-->iTunes
I am presuming each location has a full set of files as outlined in the above links?
Not all the files are in both locations. Most are.
- The Itunes folder in my home folder does not have itunes library.xml.
- The Itunes folder in my home folder has a subfolder called Mobile Applications (username-->Music-->iTunes--> Mobile application). The Itunes folder at the HD level also has a Mobile Application folder but it is a subfolder of Itunes Media folder (HD-->iTunes--> iTunes Media-->Mobile applications) and has no files in it.
- I do not have an iTunes Media in the iTunes folder in my home folder.
- also the Itunes media folder (HD-->iTunes--> iTunes Media) has subfolders by type (books, movies, itunes u, music etc...) but the iTunes Media-->Music also has some of the same subfolders ( iTunes Media-->Music-->books, iTunes Media-->Music-->Movies, iTunes Media-->Music-->iTunes U). Is this normal repetition?

but it is important to note what comes before all that.
There is nothing as far as I can tell before that first forward slash. Since the only iTunes Media folder I have is in the iTunes folder that resides at the HD level (HD-->iTunes--> iTunes Media folder) not the iTunes folder in my home folder (username-->Music-->iTunes) , I assume that's the one that holds the music.
Keep iTunes media folder organized and Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library are both checked on
Does that give more clarity into my problem?

Can somebody please help me on how to create two partitions on the hard drive, one with Mac extended format and one with NTFS format.

Merged two libraries. new one is smaller than the largest one!

I merged two iPhoto libraries using iPhoto Library Manager. One library had 6299 pics and the other had 178. The new one has 6474 pics (short of 3 photographs). The deal is that my library with 6299 is 33gb and my new library with 6474 pics is 31 gbs!

You merged two libraries into a third, new one? Most likely there's no caches developed yet. Sync with a phone or iPod and see what happens then.

Merge two partitions OS X Yosemite?

I have two partitions on my Mac Mini (late 2012) fusion drive 1.12 TB.
I deleted all the files on Macintosh HD. Now I would like to merge Macintosh HD with Macintosh HD2.

I'm having the same issue but my error doesn't come until after it's completed the download. It then erases the file and errors out that it couldn't complete the download. I've tried the download several times over the past 6 hrs and still the exact same thing happens. Mid 2011 iMac; download takes 30 min each try; i even download the install file to a different, already updated, MBP but coping it to the iMac give an error as well that the file was corrupt.

i used bootcamp to partition by hard drive into two.
and while installing ubuntu i converted the fat32 to ext3
and then i wanted to remove ubuntu from my macbook,
i thought bootcamp will detect ext3 but it didn't,
so i went back to ubuntu and converted the ext3 to fat32 using gparted.
then came back to mac os and started bootcamp and thought it will restore the fat32 to hfs partition but it says " the disk is already partitioned for windows and cannot re-partition it again",
so i used the disk utility to convert the fat32 to hfs+ partition,
now my macbook has two hfs+ partitions, i want to merge these two partitions.
can anyone suggest me how to merge two hfs partitions.
is there any freeware which can do this job?
or any licensed software that can do this?
or can the provided disk utility do this?

Hi,
Mac has a very useful utility accessible from Terminal. I personally find it much better that the GUI Diskutility.
Start up Terminal in Utilities, and type "diskutil help" w/o the quotation marks. You will get a comprehensive list of items which you can do with your disk/volume. I have used it to create, delete, merge, resize volumes/partitions without losing data. Nevertheless you should always backup before venturing. Hope this helps.

Merge two calendars onto one BlackBerry

I am trying to have the calendar on my BlackBerry 8830 merge the Outlook calendars from my work and home computers.
I want all three calendars to show the same information.
I have tried both two-way and one-way synchronization but no luck.
Any ideas on how to do this?

Have you considered using a third calendar as the intermediary?
What I've done in the past was to use Google's or Yahoo's calendar to store both.
For example:
From work, I'd sync Google with my work calendar
From home, I'd sync Google with my home calendar
This way, when you sync with Google from home, it has all your work stuff, and vice versa.
Does your phone/PDA have a calendar sync program?

There are two hard drives: Drive c which is called vista and has 37.1GB of memory and the other one , drive E with 35GB.

Of course you can do this. If you do not have 3rd part software use simply delivered recovery media. When recovery procedure starts after choosing language go to option called Setup, mark the first option and set it to 100%.
After doing this continue recovery procedure. The whole HDD will be formatted and the whole HDD capacity will be used for one partition only. In my opinion it is not the best idea but if you want to have it on this way it is your decision.

Merge two resultsets into one column

I have two SQL statements. The first returns 12 columns and the second returns 2 columns but both return the same number of rows. I can't seem to merge both the queries into a common query as the WHERE clauses in both are different. I have to dump the output into a table i created. The table has 14 columns. One column in both queries act as primary key and they help form the relationship between the resultsets. The column name is SUBSCR_CODE. How do I merge two accounts into one account that contains all the files from both?

When I was running my MacBook Pro under Snow Leopard, I had one account for business that was encripted and another account that was unencripted for personal. Now, under Lion, the whole disc gets encripted so I don't really need two acounts. How do I merge the accounts together into one account and retain all the files from both?

Merging two or eliminating one Apple ID?

I must have created two apple IDs. When I go to update Apps on iPad2 it asks for a password associated with a gmail account not used. My normal email apple I'd is associated with a me.com address. So I cannot update as any password I give for the gmail is not recognized. How can I getbthe iPad to ask only for the password associated with the me.com address? I must have created the gmail I'd by mistake.

They cannot merge them. I had one from years ago, then forgot what it was and created a new one. Then somehow reverted (in my mind) back to the original which I use now. Every new purchase, I have to authorize both accounts so that my entire library will play. I have tried to get them to merge the accounts - all the details of each are identical with the exception of the usernames - but they cannot (I'm assuming it's a system limitation on their customer service software).
If you find out that has changed, by all means let us know!

Unable to merge two partitions

I have my Macintosh HD partition, and a bunch of GB of free space, also partitioned. I am unable to merge the two together, there seems to be no drop down arrows to have them combine. Also, I cannot reformat the free space, so all I am left with is 350GB of free space and 350 GB of Macintosh HD. Does anyone know how I could possible merge the two together again?

If the Macintosh HD partition is above the free space, drag the slider between them as far down as it will go and click Apply.
If the Macintosh HD partition is below the free space, create a new partition in the free space, clone the contents of Macintosh HD to it, restart from the newly-created partition, delete Macintosh HD, and then proceed as above.
