Photoshop CS4 - Merge Down vs Merge Visible?

Hello, this might be my first time on any of the Adobe forums. It's about time I came aboard...
Working with a photo in Photoshop CS4, and after doing many edits, I am ready to merge the layers. For the life of me, I cannot seem to figure out what the difference is between Merge Down and Merge Visible. I have tried both alternatives, and yet cannot locate the differences.

Filter Data with Merged and non merged columns in one

Hi there,
I have an excel spreadsheet that has got merged and non merged columns. What I want to be able to do is, filter a row that has got merged column and non merged columns. But when I filter it only takes the first line, rather than the merged and non merged
columns.
With this data I have one merged column which spans 6 rows, and then in the same row I have 6 rows with different points in, and what I want to do is filter my list, but be able to see the merged coloum aswell as the 6 points.
Any ideas are much appriciated.

You cannot filter across a row - so I have assumed that what you mean is that some cells in columns are merged to serve as the headers, and the data is in the came columns but in the row(s) below the header. If this is incorrect, ignore this post.
For this example, I have assumed E to J are the column of data and merged cells, column K is free, and the first merged header is in row 1:
In K1, enter
=E1
in K2, enter
=IF(COUNTA(E2:J2)=1,E2,K1)
and copy down. Then filter based on column K, and it will show the headers and the data for the selected header value.

Merge Dimension Is used to take data for 1 block from two data providers with the common dimension.
The steps to create a merge dimension are as follows.
1. Select a universe 1and Create a query in the WEbi by taking Dimensions ( Year for example) and Measures ( Sales Revenue for example). Save the query and run the query.
2. Then go to ADD QUERY, select the second universe 2 and build a query ( At least one dimension should be common in the both the queries), so take for example Year as a dimension and Quantity as measure. Now run the Second Query only.
3. Select the radio button INSERT TABLE IN CURRENT REPORT.
4. Go to Templates, Drag and Drop Vertical Table, then go to the icon on top which says merge dimension, select the common object from Query 1 and query 2.
5. Go to data tab, Drag and Drop common dimension into block 3, Drag and Drop required measures from query 1 and query 2.

the result of 1.mov and 2.mov is work correctly, and then, I want to merge 2 mov files into 1 mov file

the file size of result.mov is almost the sum of the 1.mov and 2.mov , but i cannot play it correctly, the result.mov is only show the content of the 1.mov.
the real cmd :

There are more problems with that idea than I can count, just stemming from the fact that that is a very, very hacky solution.
Certainly there are instances where this might be necessary, but anything like that would absolutely be a last-ditch effort and could never be included in any sort of publishable software...

As you have found, (vertical) merging and filtering do not go together. The value of a merged area only "lives" in the top left cell of the area, the other cells are blank.
I would unmerge the cells and fill the values down into the blank cells. You should then be able to filter normally.

Thanks, C. P. Actually, I wanted to copy all my layers and paste them into a new document without actually merging or flattening them together. I looked further, and found other useful information about this in discussions as well. Being mostly self-taught, I have a lot more to learn about layers, that's for sure...

No problem. If you sync your computer with your iCloud account, you can sync iCloud email, contacts, calendars and tasks with Outlook 2007 or higher; as well as your bookmarks with internet explorer and your photo stream photos. This will keep this data on your phone in sync with your computer. This guide shows how to set this up: http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/pc.html.
To enable photo stream, go to Settings>iCloud on your phone and turn it on. How can I use data merge, within a master, within a book?

I am producing an 84pp catalogue for multiple brands.
I have it set up as:
1x .indd document per spread
Master styles within one .indd document for black text, white text etc.
Book setup to contain all of the .indd files to make up the 84pp book
Now, my problem is I have to change the footer text and references depending on the brand, so I can have the footers saying 'Call Brand A on 123 4567' or 'Call Brand B on 567 1234' and have various in-text references change from Brand A to Brand B and vice versa.
I have a data merge on each of the masters in my .indd style source looking at a simple .csv of:
Brand Name
URL
Phone Number
Brand A
www.branda.com
0800 123 4567
Brand B
www.brandb.com
0800 567 1234
This works fine on the masters within the source .indd.
But, when I close this master style source and go into another .indd document within the book (after synchronising) I see the <<Brand Name>> container but, when I export the documents it does not populate the book with the data - it keeps the containers.
Obviously with a normal in-document Data Merge you'd click 'Create Merged Document' but I don't want to export each page, and I have PDF print presets / .joboptions file with settings for the book.
Any advice on how to get this to work?

I'm not really following the workflow here, but this seems like it might be better suited to Conditional Text than to Data Merge.

Dynamic SQL from within DML - merging syntax issue #2

Further to my previous thread on a SQL - DML merging syntax issue, I have another problem with multiple conditions in the WHERE-clause:
vrb _retval decimal
vrb _val1 text
vrb _val2 text
_val1 = 'value1'
_val2 = 'value2'
SQL SELECT DIM1_ATTR1 FROM MYSCHEMA.DIM1_DIM WHERE COL1 = :_val1, AND COL2 = :_val2, INTO :_retval
The above SQL will return NA. If I use the text literals instead of the OLAP variables, the query just runs fine. Also, with a single condition (on COL1 only) the query returns the expected value.
A note in the help states that OLAP DML objects should clearly be sperated from the rest of the SQL but does not say how. I am using a colon before and a comma after as without them the line would not compile. I could not find any example that would use multiple conditions in the WHERE-clause however the help text indicates that it is possible.
Please help me, how.

LR2 and PS4 - merging to HDR, merge to Panaorama and Edit in Layers not working

Hi,
I've recently upgraded from LR to LR2.1 and Photoshop CS to CS4. I've been trying to multi-select images from LR2 and edit them as HDR and Panoramas using the "Edit in->" merging options.
None of them seem to work. I can see PS CS4 being opened, but then nothing happens. No image is opened or dialog box shown anywhere. Closing PS doesn't prompt for any saving, etc.
I think the problem is because my RAW/DNG files are stored on a NAS. Trying to do the merge from PS directly using the files also doesn't work. But if I copy the files to my local HDD, then things work a lot better.
Is this a known issue with CS4?
iMac, OSX Leopard, 4Gb RAM.

I have done some more tests:
Setting up CS3 as "Additional External Editor" in LR2.1 Edit/Preferences/External Editing works fine with RAW ( .NEF ) files on NAS-drive.
Also CS4 as "Additional External Editor" works the same way. The procedure is the same as when CS3 was the standard editor, ie exporting a TIFF file from LR2.1.
The difference is that the standard CS4 integration is not writing TIFF files från LR, but has a more tight integration to CS4, which is much faster. But still not working when RAW files are on NAS. ( LR catalog files are on local disk ).
Configuration:
Dell dimension 9200
Windows Vista Home Premium ( 32-bit )
D-link DNS-323 NTFS file system
Lightroom 2.1
Photoshop CS4 Extended
Latest updates installed.

Skipping merge in match /merge step in the workflow

Dear all,
Accepting new imported records in a workflow. One step is looking for identicals in a match/merge step. The user has to accept or skip records depending on the matching results. Manual step to be performed always.
We are looking for a solution the manual step is skipped in case no matches are found. fi. the matching result is 10 low. The next step in the flow has to start now.
What process or process step has to be performed?

The match/merge step is manual because In real time scenarios 'The person who have access to add records in Data Manager not necessarily can have access to approve or disapprove the new added records', so the case become one client say add records in Data Manager and the approval/disapproval, match/merge etc. steps will be performed by Admin or say DBO.
Thats why match/merge step have manual execution.
And your qyery if no match found then its should be automatic to next step "No because Admin still can refuse those new added records untill and unless he/she is not satisfied"

in Oracle 10g the DELETE was added and WHEN MATCHED and WHEN NOT MATCHED are optional (you have to have one of these)
