Merged clips in Premiere Pro CC an absolute nightmare

I just finished a rough cut of a 10 minute dramatic narrative. All in all, I found CC to be a fine experience. However, my project is nearly all merged clips, created with Canon 1D-C transcoded ProRes 422 4K video files, and WAV files from an external audio recorder.
Here's a (crippling) list of ALL the things that don't work currently in CC with merged clips:
No Match Frame
No Replace Edits (picture matches, but audio gets out of sync)
And for that matter, NO out-of-sync indicators at all. None.
No making SUBCLIPS in the project panel (via source panel ins and outs). A subclip gets created, but it's not the part you selected.
No retention of MARKER comments. Once you select a new clip, the comments go POOF! Gone.
Again, the good news is I wasn't under a deadline, and I was able to work through all of these problems. This is indeed a stunning interface and experience, but were I to do it all over again, I would have synced everything with Plural Eyes outside of Premiere, married audio and picture (efffectively doubling my media), and imported those clips. C'est la vie.
Please help and report this nightmare with merged clips. Thank you!

People have suggested syncing with PluralEyes before importing. I'm sad to report that there are issues with this method as well.
I'm currently working on a project that has video shot at 25fps and 30fps, all with sound recorded externally. I used PluralEyes to sync each file, then imported the generated XMLs Premiere CC 2014 to finish tinkering with the sync (long audio files, each needing matching to multiple camera takes and some takes requiring a little manual encouragement). Once all the video and audio was matched up, I exported final versions to use in the edit.
Upon importing these into my final edit project, the problem reared its head: all of the "final" versions that had a 25fps timebase stayed perfectly in sync, all of the 30fps ones drifted despite PluralEyes correcting for drift during the initial sync process.
The funny thing is, the 30fps files play back perfectly in sync in Finder's preview, in Quicktime X, Quicktime Pro an Final Cut Pro 7, so all signs point towards this being a Premiere issue.
In the end, I reexported them from FCP7 and now these versions work fine in Premiere, but it was a long workaround that cost me a day's editing and not everyone is going to have a "backup" NLE to help with the fix.

I've recently, as of last night, updated to Premiere Pro CC 7.2. I'm currently cutting a feature using merged 5K red raw clips. We were expereicning some weird things but were able to work around them. The update fixed to major problems we were having;
1. Bloating projects going from 808kb to 5mb for no reason.
2. Not being able to perform a match frame on merged clips.
The update fixed these issues, but don't throw on your party hats just yet. Within this update a fuction CRUCIAL to any editor has been taken away after you've performed a merged clip function... THE EDIT! Any time I make an in and out point in my source with a merged clip and an in and out in my timeline and try to do an insert edit via a hotkey, it just edits the entire clip in the timeline starting with a radnom in point! I was able to set an in and out in my source and just edit into the timeline but even that function has been taken away. Adobe please fix this! Yes the match frame with a merged clip works but dont take away editing basics!

This bug is NOT FULLY FIXED. I'm on a tight deadline so i'm not looking very hard online to see if i'm alone - so please forgive me for just posting here...
I'm using CC7.2.1 it's 1/21... very grateful that match frame FINALLY works on merged clips, but, again, this insert/overwrite bug is only PARTIALLY FIXED.
Insert/overwrite with merged clips on 3-point edit now works, but ONLY when cutting in BOTH merged video+audio... if you're just trying to cut in the audio from a merged clip using a 3-point/4-point edit via hotkey, it's a no-go.
I, for example, needed to re-cut in audio under some video with effects on it. So, I unpatched the video source completely and patched source audio tracks 1-4 to the appropriate sequence tracks. Upon hitting insert or overwrite multiple times, nothing responds. The only way to cut anything in from the source (merged clip) was to patch the source video back into the timeline on an unused video track, then cut ALL the tracks from the source in, I then had to delete the video track re-link the now free audio to the original video. Not a big deal, but annoying enough & waste of precious time on tight deadline.
So, yeah, I have a workaround but is still not appropriate to have a core function not work properly. Especially when I'm working with a very complicated timeline.

Please review the following that I excerpted from an older post here regarding Adobe's PRE_help comments about Hollywood Effect and mention of
Red Noir. Does any of the following apply to any of what is happening to you.
- Whenever I try to add an effect from the Hollywood Looks menu, it brings up a warning that all my previous effects on that clip will be deleted. However it will let me add those same effects *after* applying Hollywood Looks.
This is because of how the Hollywood Looks are designed to be used. Since these are effect presets (multiple effects in combination) that result in a specific "look"; they are best applied in isolation. If any previous effect is applied and we still allow a Hollywood effect to be applied, we will not be able to see what the effect does clearly. For e.g. if you already have a Gaussian Blur effect applied to your clip, and then we allow you to apply the "Red Noir" Hollywood effect, the fact that the "Reds" in the scenes will be highlighted and the others converted to B/W will not be clearly seen since the content is already blurred out. So any previously applied effects was designed to be removed. This holds good even if you apply a Hollywood look "on top of" another one. The previous one will be replaced. Having said that, you can customize the look further by either tweaking an already applied filter or by adding a newer effect on top. That is the reason you can apply an effect on top of the Hollywood Effects and not vice versa.
Please review and consider and then we can proceed from there if necessary.

How do I join multiple (short) audio clips into one single long audio clip in Premiere Pro CS5?

The question is in the title but I'm wondering how I can join multiple (short) audio clips into one single long audio clip in PP CS5.5. I put all my short clips right next to each other and selected all of them to see what options are available by right clicking and using the toolbar options at the top. The closest that I got was to nest the sequence, but that's not what I really want.
I'd like to merge all the short clips into one single (long) audio file to use under the video.
Thoughts are welcome and greatly appreciated.

O.K. This is kind of fundamental and you will need to learn up on this fully ...but for now...
Make sure you have the WAB ( work area bar )covering the length of the audio clips. ( You do not need to select them)
Go to the File Menu> Export Media
You will be given all the Export Options. Choose Wave File
Select option for Export Work Area.
Choose where to export the file to ( HD location)
follow your nose from there....

How can I sync up my clip in Premiere Pro with the After Effects Comp I replace it with? How do I link them?

I am having some issues seeing a tracked mask work correctly in Premiere Pro. I clicked on my clip in my Premiere pro project and hit "replace with after effects comp". After correctly masking out everything in AE and tracking it to perfection, I clicked save and went back to my Premiere project. However when I view the new "linked" clip in my project it has dropped frames. The mask seems to track correctly but the dropped frames are an issue. Does anyone know how I could fix this?

When I return to the linked clip in my Premiere project, it does not contain every single frame of the original after it has been replaced by the AE comp. It skips about every other frame. I am doing a stop motion animation so this is highly noticeable.

Can't import audio from clip into Premiere Pro CC.

I can export a clip, with audio, from Premiere Pro, but when I import it back into PP the audio track is missing. I noticed that when I delete the .xmp file from the file folder the audio will import with the clip successfully. Can someone please instruct me as to how I can edit the .xmp file so as to correct this problem? Thanks.

I export a clip using the "match sequence settings".
Mmm, don't ever use that. It's for people who don't know what they're doing, and often causes more problems that it solves.
Better to know what you're doing and set up your export manually. Try that, then report back what happens.

How to record an audio clip in Premiere Pro cc with USB mic on PC

Having trouble finding a solution on the web. I have just made the switch to Premiere Pro CC from Final Cut Pro 7, and also from Mac to PC, yikes I know. I am looking to record some audio clips directly into PP with my USB mic. I have successfully hooked up my usb mic through the PC control panel. My ignorance will be apparent here, What should I do next in Premiere Pro to begin recording my clips?

Sending transcoded clip to Premiere Pro with Mono audio

Hi there,
I noted that others had asked this question around August 2013 but haven't seen any progress made on this issue, which is that we prefer to edit in Premiere pro with mono audio tracks, but we are unable to make transcoded material come over from Prelude with mono audio.
We need to have total control over our audio tracks and for us in a News/ENG environment that also means fast turnaround production. So we want to choose the part of the XDCAM clip that we want in Prelude, send it to Premiere Pro and put the interview grab (for example) down on track 1 of the Timeline with only talent mike audio (which was recorded on the camera's channel 1) and not have to pan it or worry about doing much else to it. Then we cut the rest of the overlay with sound effects that were recorded on channel 2 going straight to track 2 on the timeline. When we transmit it to head office we send them two discrete channels of audio: talent/VO on Track 1 and effects on Track 2.
We only have a problem when Transcoding is involved. With the audio prefs in PrPro set to "Mono" everything else is fine, its just that when Prelude transcodes a video it makes the audio a hassle for us, because it can only come over to PrPro as a stereo audio track.
Adobe, is there ever going to be the ability to just make a Preference in Prelude to send the clips with Mono audio, as there is in Premiere Pro??
Or has anyone figured this out and I am just missing something?

In Adobe Media Encoder, set up a new preset that has the video and audio settings you want to have your source footage transcoded to:
Then name and save that preset. The next time you launch Prelude, the preset will be an option for you to select to use for transcoding your material.

Audio data not loading with certain clips. Premiere Pro CC 2014, using .mts files

When I open a project, sometimes a clip will not load its audio data. In the photo I've attached, you can see the video clip on the right has the waveforms showing up, but not for the clip on the left. Rendering does nothing, I've tried clearing Premiere's cache, and I've signed out and back into Creative Cloud as I saw in another forum post with no success...any suggestions?

Right clicking, and selecting "make offline" then re-linking the media seems to work. Thanks! Just weird how this happens sporadically with different clips in different projects when I open them.

Problem bei Importieren von Clips mit Premiere Pro CS4

Hallo Leute,
also ich hab ein versucht ein Videoclip zu importieren, aber dann kommt immer eine Fehlermeldung, dass der Codec fehlt oder nicht verfügbar sei. Also hab ich mir gedacht, ich brauch QuickTimePlayer um das Ganze abspielen zu können. Also Quicktime heruntergeladen und wollte ein Videoclip abspielen. Das Komische daran ist, dass ich nur den Ton höre, und das Bild ist komplett schwarz. Und mit Premiere kann ich den Clip immer noch nicht importieren... Was brauch ich denn für nen Codec, dass ich die Clips importieren kann?
Also die Clips sind von ner Videokamera mit imovie heruntergeladen worden (so hat mir jemand erzählt), und hat die Endung .mov.
Ich hab auch schon DivX heruntergeladen und kann die Clips auch nicht damit abspielen.
Das wär super, wenn ihr mir weiterhelfen könnt. Danke.

Ich habe dein Problem mal am Mac getestet:
Zuerst über den Media-Browser dann .mov Datei auswählen und in das Schnittfenster ziehen,
bei mir ist jetzt eine funktionierende Sequenz mit Film und Ton vorhanden siehe Screenshot:
Es kann aber auch sein, dass du Video und Audio Signal einzeln in das Schnittfenster einfügen musst.
Ist es möglich, dass deine Videodatei beschädigt ist?
Da zumindest Quicktime deine Datei immer abspielen sollte.
Leider kann ich dir ansonsten nicht mit deinem Problem weiterhelfen.

Schraffierte Clips in Premiere Pro CC

Habe ein Problem mit einigen Clips der C300.
Einige Clips sind schraffiert und werden als schwarzer Bildschirm abgespielt oder es wird nur ein Standbild gezeigt.
Die Clips sind nicht offline. Cache-Files habe ich auch schon gelöscht und die Clips neu eingebunden.
Es sind aber nur einige Clips der C300, die anderen in einer Sequenz werden ganz normal abgespielt.

Ja doof! Sorry das ist wieder einmal eine dieser völlig sinnfreien Antworten, die es so unattraktiv machen, überhaupt noch ein deutsches Forum aufzusuchen und eine Frage zu stellen. Im ernst? MVP von Adobe, dann noch Adobe Community Professional und dann noch so dreiste Antworten geben.

Meiner Meinung nach hat das Schraffierte eine bestimmte Bedeutung, Offline-Clips werden ja auch auf eine bestimmte Art markiert.

How can you remove multiple gaps at one time between clips in Premiere Pro CS4?

I know about Right Click and Ripple Delete and Edit > Ripple delete - but this only works on 1 gap at a time. What about several/many gaps at one time? Please help!

Suppose you have track 1 filled with clips and gaps.
Drop a color matte or transparant video or what ever, in track 2 and stretch it over the selection of gaps you want to delete.
Select everything in that selection in track 1 and drop it in track 2 on the color matte. Don.t deselect and drop it back into track 1.
Track 2 is now filled with pieces of color matte superimposing the gaps.
Select everything in track 2 and ripple delete.

Can we trim multiple clips in Premiere Pro CC?

Hi all, we're looking for a way to perform a ripple edit of multiple clips in the same track of the same timeline. In other words I want to trim the last 15 frames from each of 100 clips in a project (for multiple projects per day). Any ideas on how this can be done (aside from doing them one at a time)?
I saw the discussion from 2011 indicating that this could not be done in CS5.5 but perhaps there is some way in CC?
