Merging 2 apple id's/accounts?

My husband bought me an iPad for Christmas & I also have an iTouch. Unbeknownst to him I already have an Apple ID but he set me up with a new one. I've tried just setting my iPad to the same ID in settings but it tells me that this ID is already being used by another user (my iTouch). Is there a way to merge my 2 devices into 1 Apple ID?

Remove your credit card info from the new iTunes account and just use the previous account.
Launch iTunes on your computer, log into the iTunes store with your previous account and connect the iPad and sync it.

  • Merging multiple Apple ID accounts

I've had one apple ID for a while and for some reason ended up setting up a new one when I bought a new iPhone.
My wife also has an Apple ID.
I actually have credit on my two Apple IDs.
It's getting to be a bit of a pain having to update apps and purchase music/movies on different IDs.
We would like to use just one ID for the whole family.
So when I take a photo or download an app for example it is accessible via the cloud on all devices.
We have a MacBook Pro, an iPad2, 2 iPhones and 2 Apple TVs in our house.
Is there any way of 'merging' our Apple ID accounts so everything is updated using the same ID?
If so would it have any impact on our current purchases and downloads?
Somebody seemed to think I would lose all purchases if I tried to merge them.
Is there any easy way to see what I have purchased on a particular account so I could decide to 'lose' that account if need be?
    Thanks in advance!

It isn't possible to merge accounts. You have to use an Apple ID, and you will lose the purchases made in the older one

  • Can i merge two apple itunes account into one

  • How to merge two Apple accounts by migration

    Hello to you all
My question relates about merging two apple accounts.
Having two accounts is an issue (for instance when you start setting up Family sharing, or trying to get phone calls on your Mac)
As we know, merging two accounts is alas (still ?) not possible.
But it should be possible to address the issue it my migrating data.
As many people, I have two accounts:
Account A: [email protected], with all my purchases (iTunes, apps, machines)
Account B: [email protected], with my calendar, contacts, bookmarks, photos...
The best possible option seems to keep account A:
    - Transfer the data from B to A
    - Possibly transferring the [email protected] address into A
    - Close B
    About the data transfer:
    - Transferring iCloud documents is easy (using the Finder)
    - Transferring contacts, events bookmarks is also easy as they can be exported (ex .VCF or html)
    - Transferring Notes can be done by moving the notes from the iCloud list to the On my Mac List
    - Transferring Passwords and Photostreams is difficult (No Export solution for KeyChains, No way to transfer ownership of a photo stream)
    - I do not know yet about transferring the iCloud email address [email protected] into the [email protected]
    So my questions are:
    1) Do you have any idea about transferring Passwords in KeyChain from one iCloud account to another ?
    2) Do you have any idea about transferring ownership of a photo stream to one iCloud account to another ?
    3) Do you have any idea about the email address transfer
    4) Do you have any other way to do this ?
    Thanks for your attention
    Kind regards

The easiest thing to do would be to use an iOS device, such as your iPhone to migrate the data from one account to the other.  You can go to Settings>iCloud on your phone, sign out of account B, choose Keep on My iPhone and provide your password when prompted, then sign back in using ID A to create a new iCloud account and choose Merge when prompted to upload the data.  This will not migrate notes, which as you said, can be dragged and dropped between accounts on your Mac.
This will also not move your existing iCloud email account.  You cannot move an iCloud email account to a new iCloud account.  You would either have to switch to the new @icloud.com email account that goes with your new iCloud account, or continue to use the existing email account as a "secondary account"  To do this, you would go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Add Account>iCloud on your iOS devices (and System Preferences>Internet Accounts>iCloud on your Mac), sign back into account B and turn on Mail.  Just be aware that, at least on an iOS device, this would not be push email as push is only supported in the primary iCloud account.
Photo stream cannot be moved between accounts either, not can it be enabled in a secondary account.  If you want to keep your photo stream photos you'll have to either save them to your device, or add them to a shared album before signing out of the existing account (see http://help.apple.com/icloud/#/mmc0cd7e99).  Another option would be to import them to your iPhoto events, then add them back to your new photo stream using iPhoto when you sign into the new iCloud account on your Mac.
For iCloud keychain, I believe you can turn it off iCloud keychain and you will be given an option to keep a copy of any saved passwords and credit card information on your device.  Then set up iCloud keychain again once you are signed into your new iCloud account.

  • I want to merge my apple accounts

How do you move all your iphotos and music over under one apple id itunes account?

Apple IDs can't be merged; photos aren't associated with an Apple ID.

  • I merged my Apple ID accounts on my iPhone and iPod...how can I change the iPhone Apple ID account so that the iPod and iPhone has there own

I merged my Apple ID accounts on my iPhone and iPod...how can I change the iPhone Apple ID account so that the iPod and iPhone has there own?

I think I understand what you mean. You were asked if you wanted to merge the contacts with your iCloud account. Contacts take up very little room and are probably not the reason that your iCloud is full. If you're now backing up two devices to iCloud rather than one, that will indeed take up more room.
You cannot undo the contact merge. You can go to Settings>iCloud on either device and see what categories of stuff you're backing up and make selections. You can also purchase more iCloud space there.

  • How do I merge two valid, purchased iTunes accounts into one so all my music is in same account?

I have two valid, purchasd iTunes accounts.  Older iPod has some great music, I just got a new iPad and set up second iTunes account, bought some more iTunes items for that account.  Just discovered iCloud.  Now I want to put all my music from both accounts onto the cloud so I can access it on all my apple devices.   Can't seem to add from one account to the other.  Can sign onto the new account wiht my old iPod, but it will not let me sync without erasing all the music on the device.  How can I merge these two accounts into one?
PS  Makes you wonder how helpful support is when the usernames "Frustrated," "really frustrated," and "Help!!!!" are all taken...lol

You cannot. iTunes pruchases remian tied to the account they were purchased with.
I just got a new iPad and set up second iTunes account,
    Why?
Remove your info from new account, update old account as needed and use that.

  • Merging Multiple Apple IDs

As we all know, Apple will not merge multiple Apple IDs you may have used over the years. However this is the next best thing:
But, using Family Share, you can share all of your Apple IDs with your primary account.
In order to do this you'll need to change the e-mail addresses for all of your old Apple IDs you are no longer using in iTunes.
Then, set up a user profile on your Mac for each of them. T
hen invite all of them (up to 6) from your host Apple ID, and accept the invite for each user profile in its own iCloud settings on the Mac.
Now all of the content for all of your Apple IDs will be available under the one Apple ID you are currently using on all of your devices.
Took me a while to figure this out but it works like a charm.

That post is 3 years old. Since nothing has been said about it officially or un-officially since, chances are its not going to happen.
In reality, it would open a can of worms Apple and the Media rights holders are unlikely to want to open.
With that said, we really cannot speculate on Apple's plans. So if they ever decide they want to pursue this, we can only wait until they make an announcement for it.

  • Can i merge two Apple ID's?

can i merge two Apple ID's?
I have one with me.com and one neutral one.
would love to have just the me.com Apple ID.
    How do I merge??

You can't merge accounts, nor transfer content from one account to another account - content will remain tied to the account that bought/downloaded it.

  • HT204053 Can I merge 2 Apple id's?

I appear to have been using 2 Apple ID's. Is there a way of merging them into just 1 account, rather than having to actually delete/close 1 down? As I'm not sure what products, apps and software are associated with which account?

You can't merge different Apple IDs

  • Apple-ID/iCloud account change

Hey! I recently changed the e-mail on my apple-ID/iCloud account. But when i go into settings-> iCloud its still my old E-mail there and i cant log off/change it! Any clues?

Congratulations.  You can create a new Apple ID with your new name, then delete your old iCloud account, create a new iCloud account and migrate your data to the new account.
Before deleting your existing iCloud account, if you have any photos in photo stream that are not in your camera roll or backed up somewhere else, save these to your camera roll or you will lose them.  To do this, open the photo stream album on your phone in the thumbnail view, tap Edit, tap all the photos you want to save, tap Share, then tap Save to Camera Roll.
Once this is done, go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account. When prompted about what to do with the iCloud data, be sure to select Keep On iPhone.  Next, set up a new iCloud account using your new Apple ID (if you need to create one, tap Get a Free Apple ID at the bottom).  Then turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On, and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge.  This will upload the data to the new account.
If you need to change the ID for other services, do the following:
For purchasing from the iTunes and app stores, go to Settings>iTunes & App Stores, tap the Apple ID, sign out, then sign back in with the alternate ID.  (Note: previous purchases are permanently tied to the ID used to purchase them so when you update your old apps, for example, you will still be prompted for the password for your old ID even if you aren't using it anymore.)
For iMessage, do the same thing in Settings>Messages>Send & Receive.
For FaceTime, do this in Settings>FaceTime.

I'd like to merge the three different itunes accounts I have created over time ... is this possible?

Unfortunately it is not possible to merge multiple Apple ID's and their content into one ID. Apple has no provisions for this.

  • Two iPhones, both mine, using the same Apple ID iCloud account

I've seen similar questions but it is always being brought up by members of a family each with their own phone sharing an account. My scenario is different...
I have an activated Verizon iPhone 5, running iOS 7.1.x. I have an Apple ID and it backs up stuff to my iCloud account.
I've just received an, as of right now, non-activated T-Mobile iPhone 6. I haven't turned it on yet but it'll of course have iOS 8.x.
Both phones are mine. In a couple weeks, I'm going to go through the whole process of porting my number from Verizon to T-Mobile, but for reasons I won't go into now, I can't do that just yet.
If I power on the new iPhone 6 now, because I'm excited and want to play around with it, I should be able to just use it Wi-Fi. My question then is can I use both devices with the same Apple ID / iCloud account?
Obviously phone calls and non-Wi-Fi data will only be working through the iPhone 5, since it's the only one with service, and that's fine. But what happens with backups and syncing? Will new photos and apps end up on both? Will contacts, the call history, and messages (texts and iMessages) end up syncing? Will syncing work in both directions? Any other caveats or problems that I might run into? If it's a pain, I can just leave the iPhone 6 alone, and wait until I port my number over.
    Thanks,
    Manny
P.S. I've never ported a number or upgraded from one iPhone to another, so I don't know how it normally works. I'm assuming my Apple ID can "transfer" everything. I don't have much on my phone so it all fits within my iCloud storage. I don't use it with iTunes, or hook it up to any computer at all, or for music, movies, etc. Just apps, contacts, settings, photos, etc.

So I basically won't run into any trouble? I
There should be no issues. Its designed to work like that.  You don't change Apple IDs just because you get a new device.
    mannyace wrote:

Is there any chance that the phones can fall out of sync?
Unlikely. But nothing is impossible.   Though I don;t see how that would happen. As long as both are signed into the Same Apple ID / iCloud Account they will be N'Sync. (Bad Joke)
    mannyace wrote:

If I get a message or buy an app or take a photo on the iPhone 5, how do I get those things onto the iPhone 6?
If you buy an App, you have 2 ways to get it to the iPhone6: If Automatic Downloads is enabled in Settings->iTunes & App Store, it will automatically download to the iPhone 6 when you buy it on the 5 and vice versa if you buy it on the 6, it will download to the 5.
Alternatively, you can simply go to the App Store App->Updates->Purchased and look for the App there and download it. Purchased Apps will not require payment again. i.e They'll be free to download to the iPhone 6 once purchased.
SMS Messages will sync over using Continuity as long as they are on the same Wifi network. Otherwise, restoring the iPhone 5 backup to the iPhone 6 will transfer all messages received up until the backup was made onto the iPhone 6.
Images, can be transferred either through Photo Stream
My Photo Stream FAQ - Apple Support
Or any Cloud service you want such as Dropbox, or One Drive.
    mannyace wrote:
Also, something i forgot to ask initially: Should I update the iPhone 5 to iOS 8 first or does that not matter?
If you want the Continuity features as explained above you need to update the iPhone 5 to iOS 8. Otherwise its not all that important.
