Merging 2 BW systems into 1

We have recently started implementing BW 3.5 running on HP TRU64 o/s and are unable to upgrade to higher version without changing our hardware as any further development on TRU64 ceased in Dec 2005. BW reports are delivered through windows based EP6.0.
Right now we are about to commence implementation of a portals based HR solution on ERP2005 and EP7.0 and reporting will be BW based using BW7.0 (NW2004s) which is required to deliver the solution we require. All of this will be running on a separate environment (except EP which we will upgrade from 6.0 to 7.0).
Regarding BW, SAP have suggested that we run BW7.0 for HR as a separate instance on the HR server. This sounds appealing to us as we can buy a medium size server now for HR and BW with the view of unbundling BW-HR and including it back on our central BW system once we upgrade the hardware and BW version. This will give us additional capacity on the HR side due to the expected growth in the organisation in the next 3-5 years.
Is it possible to unbunble the BW-HR system and incorporate it back into our other BW system in the future once we have upgraded it to the same version? What challenges / problems are we going to face?

The question you are asking is in the area of Enterprise Data Warehousing architectural strategy and planning.
The keys in developing your strategy will be things like an empowered EDW architect, clear standards for objects, naming convention, the layers that are modelled, etc.
Perhaps the best answer to your question is to advise you to focus more heavily and in-depth in regards to your EDW strategy. My concern is that you run the risk of developing "stovepipe" systems with a "data mart" strategy without centralizing and controlling optimially.
Of course you can run seperate SAP NetWeaver BI systems (BW is an outdated term), but the risk of massive missed value could be high if the strategy is not well-defined.

Merging multiple idocs into 1 XML output

Hi Gurus,
I've got a scenario whereby i will need to send payment documents via idocs to XI and XI will output them into an XML file.
At the moment, when i perform a payment run for multiple vendors and send the idocs out, i realised that multiple idocs are being sent out and XI will output multiple XML docs.
Is there any way i can merged these idocs into a single XML document? The idocs are all from the same system.

I think this is possible using PACKAGING.

You want to create or process an XI message with multiple instances of an IDoc (of the same IDoc or extension type) in the mapping.

Solution
1) Log on to the Integration Repository.
2) Open the relevant IDoc in the object editor.
3) Select the "Export XSD" menu option in the "Tools" menu.
4) In the subsequent dialog box, assign a file name and save the data to the hard disk of your local PC.
5) Open the file that you have saved in step 4 in an adequate editor (for example, Notepad) for editing.
6) Locate the first entry: <xsd:element name="IDOC" type="<
Idocname>"> and add the following expression, maxOccurs="unbounded", between the value of the type attribute and the closing angular bracket.
Example:
<xsd:element name="IDOC" type="ADR2MAS.ADR2MAS02"
maxOccurs="unbounded">
7) Save the modified file to the hard disk of your local PC.
8) In the message mapping, use the file saved in step 7 instead of the imported IDoc by using the "Import XML or XSD" function in the mapping tool to select the source or target messages.

Merging application systems between workareas

Hi,
We have a number of application systems with shares to and fro and these should be migrated to designer 6i. During a pilot one of these application systems is migrated. Now the rest has to be migrated and we come across a "problem". During the transfer from designer 6.0 to 6i new application systems are created and so we get some doubles. The idea was to create a versioned repository and insert all application systems. After this has been done we plan to insert the already migrated application system into the same repository but into a different workarea, a private workarea.
We hope that we can merge modules between these workareas. Does anyone have experience in this kind of matter??? Please advise.

Are .mp4 files not supported when trying to merge 2 videos into 1 video? The steps in the manual seem simple enough. But the paste function won't work on the 1st video after selecting all and then copy on the 2nd video.

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on eight different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary from version to version and OS to OS. So before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Things like:
- What version of iPhoto.
- What version of the Operating System.
- Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?
- Did it ever work properly?
- Are there error messages?
- What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
Anything else you can think of that might allow someone else to understand your issue.

There'll be so many things to consider including other modules involvement like SD,Finance,PP,master data and so on. Below are the few things needs to be considered as per my knowledge...
Example WH2 is merged with WH1
1) Check the complete warehouse set up whether both are having similar functionality and Identify the delta difference in WH2 then configure the same in WH1.
2) List out the Material Master which are common to both the warehouses if not extend the Material Master record to WH1 by copying the WH2 data.
3) Transfer the stock from WH2 to WH1 by using movement type 311 if the warehouses are within same plant or use movement type 301 to transfer the stock if the warehouses are in different plant.it is applicable for all type of stocks.
4) Finance side is only affected if the the warehouses are in different plant and the system will take care of the accounting entries during the transfer posting.You can check if any Z report exist for FI and anything is hard coded in the program which are relevant to WH2 specific.
5) PP side you have to analyze the WM-PP interface where the work centers are assigned to the supply area and you have master record lke control cycles to perform the material staging.
6) SD side you have to map the storage location determination for the finished product during the outbound delivery creation if anything is maintained.

Importing new business systems into Integration Directory PI 7.1

Team We have presently upgraded to PI 7.1(inline upgrade XI 3.0 was the older version). There are some changes like Import of software component version from SLD to ESR. intially we use to do in Xi 3.0 by selcting tools and import, but now we have to do different manner like going to ESR click on new and under work areas we have SCV. Do we have any new procedure fro importing business system into integration directory PI 7.1.
Please share with members if wht are the new changes in PI 7.1 work proceses like the one i mentioned above importing SCV(please don't start ESR and blah blah) any real issues wht we will encounter in termsof PI 7.1

Hi Madhu,
If you want to create a communication component for a business system from the System Landscape Directory (SLD), choose the Business System menu option.In the wizard, select a business system from the SLD and create a communication component for it in the Integration Directory.

However, I missed to mention that we have two set of users One is for Finished Goods and another for Spares.
Only Spares users need to be prevented from creating Direct/Manual Sales Orders in Oracle.
As you suggested, if this will be done at Form level, that may Disallow FG users also to create Manula Sales Orders which should not be the case.
Further, I tried to test one scenario through Processing Constraints but it did not work.

How to extract non-sap data (A/R Invoices from Legacy system) into SAP ICR

We are trying to bring A/R invoices from a legacy system into SAP ICR special ledger so that ICR tool can be used these items for intercompany reconcilliation. Could you please let's know the way to load these legacy AR invoice items into ICR data base using any function moduels.

Hello Eswar,
In what form do you have these "external" open items? If they are contained in a file you should simply import the file in ICR during data selection using the File Upload functionality. There is no need to store them in a special purpose ledger first. Actually you would have to create a BADI implementation to extract the data from that special purpose ledger during data selection. Please consider using File Upload standard functionality.
If for some reason this cannot be used you could implement a logic calling RFC enabled function module FB_ICRC_ADD_DATA_RFC which will take the open items you are supplying in your logic and push them into the ICR database. This strategy could be used to include these external open items without them being processed during data selection.

How to merge one library into another library?

In iPhoto 9.6, is it possible to merge one library into another library? Or otherwise, import individual pictures, from one library into the other library? All of this happening on the same computer.I understand that this feature was covered by Aperture but that this is no longer supported under Yasemite?

The current version of Aperture can merge libraries (I have no idea where you got the incorrect information that it can not)

Error Message (Arrow and Exclaimation Mark in Yellow Triangle) Showing on Bottom Right of Some Photos after Merging iPhoto Library into Aperture

The strange thing is that some of these said photos with an error message have a normal thumbnail and can be opened fine, but the others (most of them) just have an empty space in the thumbnail as if the image can't be found.
I tried to Locate Referenced Files as Leonie suggested in https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3686982?tstart=0 but got this message 'The Selection Doesn't Have Any Referenced Files', so i presume that's not the issue.
In the thread mentioned above, Leonie mentioned something about not emptying trash. I did empty my trash recently, and started to think these images may have been poor quality ones i previously deleted in the iPhoto library … but that still doesn't explain why the error currently appears on some images which seem to work fine (these images are ok quality ones and there is no way i would have deleted them in the past).
Also - the 'Processing' message at the bottom of the browser seems to be spinning endlessly. I just left it for over 10 hours overnight and it's still going. Could this be linked to these error images which it's having a hard time finding/loading?
Quite baffled at the moment, and would really appreciate any feedback. TIA.

I just looked more closely. It appears that most of my folders have duplicates of the same image with exactly the same file name. And all the images with the error message have them on both duplicates (i.e. one on an image that has an empty thumbnail, and one on an image that's fine).
When i initially tried to import the library, it proceeded half way then failed. After opening the iPhoto library in Aperture first, and then doing the import again, everything worked fine. So, i'm wondering if the images with errors that are empty/blank may be the result of the failed 1st import.
What's puzzling is why they weren't overwritten (especially since all the file names are exactly the same). When importing the library, i chose 'merge' instead of 'add' when prompted, thinking that would solve it. Obviously not.
EDIT 2:
After reflecting on this, i thought one solution may be to:
a) Find all the error'd images that are empty/blank and delete them, and then
b) Find and remove all duplicates
So i followed Leonie's suggestion to create a Smart Album and use the 'File Status is Missing' rule.
But now, i see that there are images that i imported into Aperture months ago that have the same problem. And the new thing is that there are duplicates with errors where *both* images are visible (whereas for the iPhoto library i just imported, there were dupes where one version was blank and the other was visible and seemingly ok).
I'm really hoping there is a simple solution to this, and am awaiting some feedback before i try anything else.
NB. This is a super large (over 100GB) Aperture library that i am trying to consolidate everything into. It is Work In Progress and i was only going to back it up once the import of various iPhoto libraries was done. However, I'm wondering if it's better to just back up first - but if i do it now, the backup will include all these errors and duplicates. What would you guys do?

Followed Leonie's advice to look for the (missing) masters inside the Masters folder, and indeed, they were missing. So, that confirms the reason for the error message.
If this does not work, because you have managed originals, inside the Aperture Library, look for your originals in the Aperture Library Package. Select the Library in the Finder and ctrl-click, then select "Show Package Contents" from the pop-up. In the Finder window that opens, navigate to the folder "Masters". Your missing images should be inside; the folder is structured by date of import.
Of course, the question is - why the masters for these few images are missing, when the other images in the same project that were imported/merged at the same time are fine.
Trying to do the library import/merge from iPhoto into Aperture again. Fingers crossed. Will report back on the result.

Hi Saurabh,
Logically there is no need to add a tcode of the target system in the source system.
If you have right roles in the system then system should allow you to add tcode in the OBN target simply by going to PFCG roles and using add transaction feature.
To make sure it works properly you have to check the Method & Parameter assignment to the newly added tcode.

How true! I had to do this recently and used Audacity for the task, having nothing else suitable (that I know of, at least). My method was to open each MP3 in its own Audacity window, select and copy all of the second file, close its window, and paste it into the end of the first file, repeating the process for each additional MP3. After all the pieces are in place, export the whole thing as a new MP3. This was cumbersome indeed, and it took concentration to remember which file was which and avoid assembling the pieces in the wrong order. This description will make a lot more sense to someone who has done it than to anyone who hasn't.
All of this is to say that if you get a better answer than my kludgey Audacity method, I'll be as grateful as you are.

Audacity is what you need.
Obviously you need to create a new MP3 file of the combined songs and not delete the originals.
If your DJ-ing and/or just have too many songs to do that, then look at the free VirtualDJHome version, gives you a lot of control over your music playback.

the first thing is that you are running on a very very low RAM.
For ECC 6.0 with dual stack SAP System to run you should have atleast 4 GB of RAM.
For your Dispatcher issue kindly check the status of your Oracle database and the connection from SAP To Database.
You can check the oracle status using brtools utility.

Merging a collection into a table

I have a table with some blank columns.
I take all the data from the table in a collection and then process the data to fill those empty columns.
Now i have the collection with all the valid data.
Is it possible to cast this same collection into a table and merge it again into the original table?
I am trying to do so, but there is an error saying "cant use local collection"...
Any help on this would be appreciated.

I would like to give you an elaborate process.
I have a table ABC. Some columns of that table are empty. I need to get those filled using some other tables.
Firstly, using a cursor I fetch the records in a collection say V_ABC.
Now in a FOR loop, I am fetching the missing data from other tables for every record in the collection and setting it in the empty places in the collection V_ABC itself.
So finally i have the collection V_ABC which has complete data.
The FOR loop is now ended.
Now i try to merge this V_ABC into tale ABC like this:
MERGE INTO ABC abc
USING TABLE(CAST(V_ABC AS TT_ABC)) z
ON (abc.random_column_name = z.random_column_name)
WHEN MATCHED THEN
UPDATE
SET abc.initially_empty_column = z.initially_empty_column
The exact error is "Error: PLS-00642: local collection types not allowed in SQL statements".
I am forced to use PL-SQL because of performance issues.
Could you provide an alternate way?
I guess one way would be to create another empty collection and EXTENDing it and creating a replica of V_ABC. Then probably it will allow me to merge. But i m not sure.

As Ivan said you can use these two options.
Furthermore I would recommend checking the settings in the Toshiba power saver (if is installed)
Possibly you have to activate this option before using.
