Merging 2 indd documents, how do you alternate pages?

I have one file that is a completed mail merge mailer file.  Each page is identical except for the address.  I have another file that is the same number of pages and each page is identical.  I want both of these files to merge every other page (like shuffling cards) for the printer to be able to print in 2 sides with each one having a different address.  Is there any way to get ID to mearge two files this way?  If not, what about Acrobat Pro?

Export the first file as a PDF to one folder
Then expor the second file as a pdf to another folder
Use Acrobat Pro and use Document>Extract Pages>as separate files
For both PDFs
Then go to Bridge
in the first folder choose Batch Rename
Then Choose Sequence Numbers and only one digit
Rename all your pdfs
Then in the other folder
Batch Rename the PDFS to
Sequence Number only one digit
+
Sequence Letter
Then once they are all renamed you can cut one set of pdfs into the same folder as the rest of the pdfs.
Then sort by name
Then use the Context Menu (right click or cmd click when files are highlighted ) to combine the PDFs in acrobat.
(if you can't do it from Finder or Explorer then use Acrobat Pro and choose Combine Documents from the File menu)
Sounds long winded, but it should be done in no time.

  • Merging word document with pdf file how do you renumber pages?

After merging a word document with pdf file, how do you renumber pages?  The pdf has more pages than the word document.  I first converted the word document to a pdf, using Acrobat Standard 9.

    Hi Petek ,
After you merge the files or combine files ,click on the Page Thumbnails panel on the left hand side.
In the Page Thumbnail panel ,right click and you will get a drop down list .Select the option "Number Pages".
You will see a dialog box with several options .You can renumber the pages from there as per your requirement.

    @moseymums – two answers here:
    1. Duplicate the document and remove all not wanted pages.
2.a Duplicate all selected pages in the Pages Panel to a different open InDesign file (the target) with the "Move Pages…" command.
2.b Remove all unwanted pages from the target InDesign file.

But take care on text threads accross several pages. If you delete a page with a text frame linked to a thread accross several pages, the text will change to the beginning of the thread on every first page.
So it might be good to run a script which will unlink threadened text frames before.
If you have often to do this task, there are several plugins which will help you to perform this. E.g. Output factory from http://zevrix.com/

How do you transfer Pages documents from Mac to Ipad?

If you have iOS 5 on the iPad and enabled iCloud in Pages, you can go on your Mac and go to http://icloud.com, then click iWork, then click the gear icon and upload the document. It should appear on your iPad.
If you have an older OS on the iPad, you will need to plug in to the Mac and launch iTunes. Click on the iPad under DEVICES. Then click on the Apps tab up top. Scroll down until you see a File Sharing section. Click on Pages, then click on the "Add" button.

How do you suppress page numbers. I am trying to print a screenplay for the first time since switching to Pages and I can't suppress Page #1 without making the rest of the pages inaccurate, as page #1 is the Title Page. Does anyone have any suggestions?

How do you rearrange pages in Pages 5.0?

Can't. Thanks be to Apple who have removed 100 features from Pages 5, and added a stack of bugs.
Your previous Pages should be in your Applications/iWork folder.

You can't, that entire method has been removed.
Pages 5 is a severely cut down beta. Apple removed over 100 features and added a lot of bugs.
Pages '09 should still be in your Applications/iWork folder.

How do you add page borders in Adobe InDesign CS5.5?

Page borders? I'm not sure what you're asking but you ca use the Rectangle Tool in the Tool Bar on the left to Add a Rectangle around the page.
You can apply a stroke colour by going to Colour Panel and selecting the Proxy for  the stroke and the colour you need.
And you increase the Stroke Width by going to the Stroke Panel.

how do you transfer pages application from macbook to new imac?

Install it on the iMac using the same method you used to install it on your MacBook.
If your MacBook came with it already installed, it may not be a version compatible with your new iMac.

  • In the Finder, how do you select Pages '09 from Pages 5.0 documents

Pages 5.0 came pre-installed on my new iMac / Mavericks computer. Before that I had  worked with Word for Mac. After a while I discovered the now well-known flaws in Pages 5.0 . I read discussions on the internet from which I concluded I could better continue with Pages ’09 which I had available from another (legal) source but never used.
Pages ’09 appears to work fine for me but Pages 5.0 keeps interfering as being the standard program designated to open “all documents of this type” (Get Info / Command I). Thus, documents made and saved in Pages ’09, may be inadvertently saved in Pages 5.0. At least, this is what I think is happening. You cannot see which is which since both versions have the extension “pages”.
I have a saved-search result comprising all files with the “pages” extension and I want to select all Pages 5.0 documents therein and change the whole lot, if possible with one key stroke, to show that “all documents of this type” must be opened in Pages ’09. I cannot find the way to work this out. Who helps?

My personal experience is as follows:
tag:Blue will find every document that has a blue tag, regardless of tag name.
tag:Pages '09 will find only documents with this specific tag name.
The exception to the second example is when you have tagged a few files with a specific tag name, then revisit the Finder Preferences and decide to change the tag name in place. This forces the tag name to update to the new name on all of the files bearing the prior tag name, and these will be found in the new tag name search.
Tag colors but not tag names are available in Finder views of documents.
You can even create Finder Smart Folders that park in the left column of your Finder window. These have special search criteria built in such as all documents that have a tag containing the string, “Pages '09.” When you click on this Smart Folder, a Finder window appears with all of your Pages '09 documents shown, providing they are appropriately tagged beforehand. You would need to first enable the tag attribute.
OS X Mavericks: Create or Modify a Smart Folder
I type just an arbitrary letter to trigger the sub-toolbar in step 3. I then click the + symbol, and set Kind is document. I click the + symbol again, and this time, I ignore Last opened date and select Other... from the bottom of that selection list. Scroll down until you find the attribute Tags and then on the right, select it, so it will show in the menu. Click Ok. Now, click on the Last opened date and instead choose Tags matches Pages '09. Now, proceed with step 6. Change the name from Searching "your login directory" to an appropriate string that will fit in the left column of your Finder window, e.g. Pages 09 docs.
The application version that created the document is not stored in the Pages documents, and Apple has chosen to use the .pages extension, regardless of compatibility or application version. This means that neither Finder nor human eye can discern the version of Pages that created the document. The only way off that island is programmatically checking the document contents which differs slightly between Pages ’08, ’09, and v5.
