Merging 2 IPHOTO together

Hi,
I own 2 apple's computer and I have pictures in IPHOTO on each computers. How can I combine all of my pictures on a single machine in IPHOTO. I want to merge my 2 IPHOTO together on 1 machine and keeping the folder, album, rating of both.
Regards,

You need iPhoto Library Manager,
http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/
which costs $20, but lets you do lots of otherwise compllcated stuff. I have merged files in other ways, but the albums, etc, are lost.

  • Merge 2 IPhoto together ?

    Hi,

    Regards,

    Interesting thoughts but:
It's appalling that Apple has not yet provided a supported merge procedure for iPhoto
    and
I'm surprised there's not more demand for library merging, but, really, there isn't.
So, why would Apple provide support for something that's not very much in demand?
    I think Apple's answer is "buy Aperture";
I don't think so, actually. I've never seen that on any documentation. They would rather suggest going the Share -> Burn route. Or even suggest iPhoto Library Manager.

  • Merging iPhoto Libraries- will events carry forward?

I am exploring unifying my iPhoto libraries. To keep the size of the main library down, I have removed the majority of photos from older events and placed in alternate libraries( eg a vacation library). Will I be able to combine the events back together in Aperture unified, or should I manually combine them back before switching over?

    Hi,
See this document: It will tell you, which Aperture and iPhoto versions are compatible with the new, unified library format:
Aperture 3.3: Using a unified photo library with iPhoto and Aperture
The newer vesions of Aperture and iPhoto are using the same library format.
Aperture can combine iPhoto libraries into one library and keep the events and albums.
This document describes how to do this:  Aperture 3.3: How to use Aperture to merge iPhoto libraries
So you could create a new library in Aperture and import your iPhoto libraies into this library, using the command "File > Import > Library".  This will preserve your old events and albums, edits, tags.
Only remember to unhide all hidden photos in iPhoto; you cannot unhide them in Aperture.
And backup all libraries, before doing a major reorganisation.

  • I have two iTunes accounts somehow, and just want to merge them together.

If you have two iTunes accounts by accident (one iPhone and one Computer...) how can you merge them together into one account?

The simple answer is that you cannot.  Try contacting the store support staff and see what they can do to help: http://www.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html

  • I have two iTunes accounts and was wondering if i can merge them together. I've a new macbook pro and haven't plugged my iPhone in it yet in fear of losing my songs from the previous account.

Go to the Music section of your Library (very top-left corner) and see if your songs are there. The "Purchased" playlist may have been deleted or gotten corrupted, but if that happens it's not a big deal because your music should still be in your main Music Library.
If your music is NOT in the Music section of your Library, then go to the iTunes Store homepage and find the Quick Links list on the right side. At the top of that list, click Purchased and you can redownload all of your previous content that you might have lost.

  • If i have 2 apple i.d.s both me, one linking to my computer and itunes, and the other to my phone can i merge these together?

if i have 2 apple i.d.s both me, one linking to my computer and itunes, and the other to my phone can i merge these together?
i havent used my computer in two years. in that time i recently got a iphone4s and started another apple id.
i just set up my computer and my itunes on my computer has a different id. is it possible to merge these as one? the itunes on my computer has a no longer working email as well.
so if i go to change the info on that to my current email it obviously wont let me because it is registered to "someone" else... ME..
so is there any way to make the one on my computer the current one i have on my phone so i dont loose ALL my music from my computer??

Sorry, but Apple IDs cannot be merged. You can, however, use more than one Apple ID/iTunes Store account on your computer and hence on your iPhone. If you've forgetten the password to your older ID, see:
    http://iforgot.apple.com
once you get in, you can change the email address associated with that ID so that receipts and such are emailed to a current address.
    Regards.

  • Merging iPhoto libraries on mac with 2 users

Hi, I have iphoto manager but can't figure out how to merge iphoto libraries
I have my daughters macbook as she passed away in May
I used time capsule to move the contents of my macbook to hers but it made as new user
I want all the photos in one library on my user account but I can't choose her iphoto library as
it says I don't have permission
Weird how everything is on one computer but having 2 users seems like you can only access your own stuff
I just want to have all photos on my iphoto
    Any help?

This worked thank u so much
Another quick question, iTunes doesn't seem to be aware that id like to use this computer as my new home base
I think I already had it authorized as we shared songs.
I had checked that I wanted certain faces from iPhoto but it included quite a few I didn't have checked
I'm not sure how to tell it this is my "new computer"

  • Is there a way to merge videos together with AME, or with other Adobe product(s)?

Ideally, I would like to import three videos into the Adobe Media Encoder for re-encoding and merge them together into only one resulting video file.  Is this possible?

It's currently not possible to do this directly in AME. You'd have to put the clips together in a Premiere sequence or AfterEffects comp and export that sequence/comp to AME. I'm not sure which other apps allow you to essentially stitch together separate clips.

  • Merging clips together

I imported 3 separate clips into Imovie. They are actually 3 different commercials i shot. I want to merge them together so i can upload i file to the internet. it doesnt have to have a transition or anything between spots.
I put them in the timeline where it said to drag them but the playhead stops after the first 30 seconds and doesnt continue to play the other 2?
    thanks
    steve

    Hello Stephen,
did you maybe select the first clip, and then hit play? If you select a single clip iMovie will play only that one.
    let us know

  • Merging iPhoto's library with Aperture's

What I want to accomplish: merge my iPhoto library with my Aperture library, creating one Aperture library while removing any duplicates.
What I've done: copied my iPhoto library to an external disc.
What I've tried to do: use "import library" on the Aperture File (while in the current aperture library on my internal disc) menu to import the saved iPhoto library on my external disc.
What happened: iPhoto library is visible but not selectable.
    What went wrong? Thanks.

Got it working--not sure what happened.
Probably your iPhoto library needed upgrading to the latest iPhoto version that is compatible with your recent Aperture version. If your Aperture version is currently Aperture 3.5.1, you need to open any iPhoto library that you want to import at least once in iPhoto 9.5.1.  Otherwise you cannot select it.  See this document:
Aperture 3.3: How to use Aperture to merge iPhoto libraries   http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5296

  • Merging iPhoto Libraries into Aperture, How?

I want to merge 6 iPhoto Libraries in my new iMac straight into my newly bought Aperture. All have been opened in Aperture.
I am assuming that onced merged I can then dip into my large Aperture library wherever I like, quickly and easily.
Yesterday I merged 3 libraries into Aperture. Today I opened a different iPhoto library and then looked for my merged library.
I can't find it and assume I'm missing a vital step. Poring over forums has made it no clearer.
What have I done wrong or missed?

I am not sure how you have tried to merge your iPhoto Libraries. Have you seen this help text?
Aperture 3.3: How to use Aperture to merge iPhoto libraries
basically, you open an Aperture library, and then use the Aperture command "File > Import > Library" to import your iPhoto Libraries,  Simply opening the iPhoto Libraries in Aperture will not consolidate them into one libraray - you have to import them.

  • Why do I get a conversion failure every time when I try to merge documents together???

Why do I get a conversion failure every time when I try to merge documents together???

    Hi mdrhine,
I'm sorry that you've been unable to merge files. Let's see what we can figure out.
Are you unable to merge any files? How large are the files that you're trying to merge, and how many are you trying to merge at once?
If you're merging more than a few files, or those files are particularly large, ttry merging those files in smaller batches. If one or more files is causing the conversion failure, merging in smaller batches should help you isolate the problematic file or files.
I look forward to hearing back from you with some details about the files that you're trying to merge.
    Best,
    Sara

  • Merging iPhoto & Aperture libraries

I want to merge iPhoto & Aperture libraries but I have three questions before I do this:
    1. Both programs have different events and albums organizing my photos. When I merge the libraries, does each program keeps the photos organized the way that are right now or does it also merge events and albums? After I merge the libraries, when I creat an album or an event in either program, does the event or album appears in both programs?
    2. After I merge the libraries, when I import photos from a camera or the iPhone, does it automatically refreshes in either programs and the new photos appear in both programs? I guess this is a dumb question but I just wanna make sure.
    3. I Have an external HD backing up my aperture library in a vault but my iPhoto library is not set to back up automatically like the vault thing in aperture. After the merging, now the vault is going to back up the whole master library?
I appreciate the help and guidance with this questions.
    Proto V.
PS: I am mexican so english is my 2nd languaje, I apologize if I commited a gramatic mistake

The key question here is what versions of iPhoto and Aperture do you have?
If you have the latest vesions of both, then merging is as simply as using Aperture's File -> Import -> Library command.
Again, if you have the latest versions of both, thereafter both apps use the same library. So, new photos don't "appear in both programs", they go into the Library and you can use either app to see them.
Yes, after merging the vault will back up the Library.

  • Really struggling with 10.10 and merging iPhoto libraries

I imported my old iPhoto Library via firewire (from Mac mini 1.6 10.6 to Mini 2.53 10.10)
My 2.53 has about 1000 images on it, as I had been downloading / using as main computer
I imported old library onto my desktop of Mini 2.53
I opened the file on desktop, iPhoto said did I want to change library (you would have thought it would have offered option to merge), I said yes and then it went through a long process of updating photos.  After one failed / crashed attempts and a few hours later ! success !  ... my old photo Library 225GB ... working and still sitting on my desktop.
Now ... next thing I want to do is merge this Library / import into the one I have on my 2.53 mini (1000 or so images)
1st thing ... finder in 10.10 is so poor that you can't navigate, you can't find anything (10.6 x1000 better) so I can't move the desktop iPhoto (old) library) into the picture folder
2nd I open IPhoto and ask to switch (from old library which has now become default) to the one which was on the 2.53 , and there seems to be 2 options iPhoto Library and one option IPhoto Old Library, I select one of the iPhoto Library and then iPhoto says needs to repair but not enough disk space ...
Really unworkable (I am finding 10.10) ... Snow Leopard was so good.
    Thanks for your help

Now ... next thing I want to do is merge this Library / import into the one I have on my 2.53 mini (1000 or so images)
    iPhoto cannot merge libraries.
You can just switch between the libraries and view them in turn.
If you try to import one library into the other you will create a mess of duplicates - thumbnails, previews, etc. You should be glad, that iPhoto did not let you do this. It would have wrecked your iPhoto library.
To merge iPhoto libraries you can use the full, paid version of iPhoto Library Manager:  Fat Cat Software – iPhoto Library Manager
It s a very useful addition to iPhoto and has rescued many libraries.
The other option is to export the photos from library 1 and import the exported photos into library 2.
I select one of the iPhoto Library and then iPhoto says needs to repair but not enough disk space ...
If you are short of storage do all merging and preparing your libraries on the external drive. It is risky to update or work with iPhoto libraries, if you are in danger of running out of storage and having iPhoto crash. That may corrupt your iPhoto library beyond repair.
If you want to use an external drive, if only temporary, make sure the drive has the correct file system. The drive needs to be formatted MacOS Extended (Journaled).  See:  iPhoto: Issues with FAT32-formatted drives
Format external drives to Mac OS Extended before using with Aperture
Really unworkable (I am finding 10.10) ... Snow Leopard was so good.
It is a large step from Snow to Yosemite. I loved SnowLeopard to. It is well designed and stable, but yosemite has many things to offer.
