Merging 2 itunes accounts into but keeping separate libraries

My wife and I have two separate itunes accounts on the same laptop, using two different email addresses for buying and downloading music. We have recently switched to one new joint email address. Can I have our two separate music libraries under one account using the new joint email? If so, how do I go about importing her music library and making sure that our separate purchases reach the right library?

  • HT1420 How can I merge one iTunes account into my other one. I have a work laptop that I've had one library one (work email address) and I also have a home library iTunes account (gmail address) but I want it all under one accnt.

I have two iTunes libraries (one under my gmail address and one under my work email address). My work laptop is usually how I access my account and in the past 3 months that laptop has had to be replaced twice, causing me to redo my entire library. Each time, the laptop was not deauthorized, of course and I had to go through all that rigamarole. I have all of my music backed up and am able to also retrieve anything purchased over the years from the cloud, but once i get it set up and authorize the laptop to both of the email address accounts, some of the items that are in the gmail library will not play. It says that it cannot locate. At one point, a friend spent a lot of time getting it to finally recognize everything (a lot of that music that said cannot locate was from burned CD's or mp3s downloaded, not purchased from iTunes). So there is that issue and I'm not sure how to fix that.
The other thing is that I would like to have ALL of my items under one iTunes account (my personal gmail) in the event that i no longer work for this company and have no access to that email address as it will be turned off. How can I remove one email and merge all purchases over to the gmail address account?
    Thanks!

You cannot combine actual accounts (as in iTunes Store account).
You can combine the music into a single iTunes collection on a computer.  There's many ways to do this.   There are some utilities to assist with keeping maximum metadata (ratings, playcount, etc.) but I am not familiar with Windows platform ones to do this, though I am sure a web search of merge iTunes library would uncover some.

  • HELP...want to merge two itunes accounts into one running several ipods

Hi, I need advise as I have two Itunes accounts for my family running on tow different laptops with win7 and with two iphones and two itouchs. I do I merge all this into one account that I can access from all devices and all computers?

Do you have a home network? You can set up itunes Home Sharing and transfer your purchases that way. You need to authorize each PC for the two different STORE accounts to transfer each account's purchases.
If you don't have a home network you'd have to use an external hard drive or USB stick.
Long story short, there's no automatic way to do it. You need to keep track of each account's purchases and what PC they are on, then move them to the PC that is missing those items.
There are some 3rd-party programs like Tune Ranger that say they will keep everything insync from one PC to the next, but they cost around $20 or $30.

  • HT3819 Can I merge two iTunes accounts into one account for home sharing?

I now have two children with iTunes accounts. Unbeknownst to me, we should have set up a home sharing network. I need to merge these two accounts to one account so we have only one home sharing account and do not loose any songs and media. Any ideas on how to accomplish this, or is it not possible?

Sorry to say but these Accounts cannot be merged...

I have multiple Apple IDs. Is there a way for me to merge them into a single Apple ID?
Apple IDs cannot be merged. You should use your preferred Apple ID from now on, but you can still access your purchased items such as music, movies, or software using your other Apple IDs.

  • Hi, I'd like to merge 2 iTunes accounts into only one !

I have one account for my iPhone and nother one for my iPad.
In fact I'd like to have only one account instead of 2 and merging all apps I've bought on the 2 accounts into One...
    Is it possible ?
    Thks for your answers...
    Vincent

No you don't have to lose everything...
Choose the appleid you use the most for your iCloud account...
Apple has made sure that we are able to log in through the itunes, AppStore, iBooks, even FaceTime and iMessage through other accounts...
So you go to settings/AppStore and log out of your first appleid, log in through your second one
And you can download any old app that you had on the account, you can even buy new apps...
When you update your apps, even apps bought with your second account will show in your update list...
You'll be asked to enter the password of the second appleid to update, and it will update it effortlessly for you...
Don't worry until we get the option to merge, you can still use all your apps and books and songs... :)
Any other question feel free to ask me...

  • Can I merge an ITunes account into another?

I have a work email which I had set up on my work laptop and iTunes account, when I received an itunes voucher I redeemed it into my work email account on itunes instead of my personal, can I transfer this to my personal iTUNES account?
    Thanks
    Sarah

    Welcome to the forums Sarah
What you need to do is to copy your purchases (e.g. onto a Flash USB memory stick) from your work laptop, then copy them into iTunes on your home Mac; then, you will have to authorise iTunes using your work email iTunes account in order to play them on your home Mac.
One way around the authorising problem is to burn your purchases to CD using the work laptop, then you can just read the CD into your home Mac, no need to authorise.

  • Can I combine/merge 4 itunes accounts into 1?

    .

If you are referring to iTunes Store accounts, no, they cannot be merged. If you mean iTunes libraries, as would be perhaps desired if you had multiple computers or different user accounts on a single computer, then yes, though you have to do it manually.
If you'll clarify what it is you are really asking, we may be able to provide more applicable guidance.
    Regards.

  • Can I merge two iTunes accounts?

hello group, is it possible to merge two iTunes accounts into one? my wife has a German account, myself an Austrian and we want to merge these two accounts so that we have both (within the allowed number of computers) the same music... how does that work?

You cannot have two accounts logged in to the iTunes Store simultaneously, but you don't have to. Just authorize the first account, then authorize the second. Usually all you need to do is play a track purchased from an unauthorized account and it will offer to authorize; just enter in the appropriate user name and password.

  • Is there a  way to merge two separate iTunes accounts into one?

Is there a  way to merge two separate iTunes accounts into one?  I don't want to "share libraries."  I just want one account that once stemmed from two seperate accounts and has all of the purchases and history.  Thanks for any help!

  • How do I merge two valid, purchased iTunes accounts into one so all my music is in same account?

I have two valid, purchasd iTunes accounts.  Older iPod has some great music, I just got a new iPad and set up second iTunes account, bought some more iTunes items for that account.  Just discovered iCloud.  Now I want to put all my music from both accounts onto the cloud so I can access it on all my apple devices.   Can't seem to add from one account to the other.  Can sign onto the new account wiht my old iPod, but it will not let me sync without erasing all the music on the device.  How can I merge these two accounts into one?
PS  Makes you wonder how helpful support is when the usernames "Frustrated," "really frustrated," and "Help!!!!" are all taken...lol

You cannot. iTunes pruchases remian tied to the account they were purchased with.
I just got a new iPad and set up second iTunes account,
    Why?
Remove your info from new account, update old account as needed and use that.

  • How do I divide thousands of songs currently in a single iTunes account into 2 separate iTunes accounts?

When my daughter was small, I set up a single iTunes account that we both could use. Now, years later, she has amassed thousands of songs and apps that I have no interest in. Is there a way to set up a separate iTunes account for her and move her music, videos, etc to that account and delete them from my existing iTunes account?

Some related discussion at https://discussions.apple.com/thread/1965166?start=0&tstart=0  Note that this starts in year 2009 when much music required authorization to play.  This no longer applies to new music or old music upgraded to iTunes Plus.  It still applies to video.
I am no itunes account expert but I do not think it is possible to transfer file ownership between accounts.

  • HT4061 I downloaded videos previously purchased for my ipod touch from my itunes account into my ipad2 3rd generation. the music plays but won't show the video other than a freeze frame of the video I am playing

I downloaded videos previously purchased for my ipod touch from my itunes account into my ipad 3. The music plays but not the video, only shows a picture from the video. How can I make play the actual video

Then look in the videos app. That is where music videos will play.

  • Separating one iTunes account into several

We have four iPods tied to one iTunes account and all four of us like different music.  Syncing can be tricky and we sometimes get each others' songs on our iPod.  We also have an iPad and an iPhone to add to one of the accounts.  The kids have their own gift cards they want to use also.  How do I separate one iTunes account into four separate accounts?

Any music purchased after about 2009 can be played on any computer with the file on it.  That's the easy part.  Oh, I don't know if syncing present problems but I'm guessing it won't since people often have multiple Store accounts and shared music on family computers.
Movies require the computer be authorized to the account used to purchase the content.  This is where you will have to come to an agreement not to change the password or de-authorize each other's computers for that account (there could be a scenario where this is done unintenionally but it shouldn't normally arise unless you have lots and lots of computers).
One  tip is to make sure you always have all content present on a local drive.  Do not put yourself in a position to ever need to re-download media from the Store.  I am presuming you will have your own account after this and the main problem people seem to have with using multiple Store accounts on a computer is being prevented from changing accconts more than once every 90 days for the purpose of re-downloading.  Otherwise families often have multiple AppleID users on a single computer with shared media.
You may have to ease up on doing anything such as using iTunes Match or iCloud downloads with this particular account, but we're talking trying to rescue what you can.
