Merging 2 portraits into 1 landscape

Anyone know how to make a file of 2 portrait photos merged into 1 file so it will fit within a landscape slideshow? I use the latest version of Aperture.I tried to use the print option but that did not work. Ideas? Thanks

You can easily combine to portrait images side by side in Aperture by using the "Print dialog.
Set the orientation to "landscape" and the columns to "2" when setting up the print,
then - in the print panel - select to print to pdf and to save pdf to Aperture. This will import the images as a landscape image side by side in the format you select.
This should suffice for a slideshow.
For more advanced image composition create a slide in "Pages" or "Keynote", or use graphics composition programs like GraphicConverter, Pixelmator, Photospop as external editor in Aperture.

How to merge one library into another library?

In iPhoto 9.6, is it possible to merge one library into another library? Or otherwise, import individual pictures, from one library into the other library? All of this happening on the same computer.I understand that this feature was covered by Aperture but that this is no longer supported under Yasemite?

The current version of Aperture can merge libraries (I have no idea where you got the incorrect information that it can not)

Error Message (Arrow and Exclaimation Mark in Yellow Triangle) Showing on Bottom Right of Some Photos after Merging iPhoto Library into Aperture

The strange thing is that some of these said photos with an error message have a normal thumbnail and can be opened fine, but the others (most of them) just have an empty space in the thumbnail as if the image can't be found.
I tried to Locate Referenced Files as Leonie suggested in https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3686982?tstart=0 but got this message 'The Selection Doesn't Have Any Referenced Files', so i presume that's not the issue.
In the thread mentioned above, Leonie mentioned something about not emptying trash. I did empty my trash recently, and started to think these images may have been poor quality ones i previously deleted in the iPhoto library … but that still doesn't explain why the error currently appears on some images which seem to work fine (these images are ok quality ones and there is no way i would have deleted them in the past).
Also - the 'Processing' message at the bottom of the browser seems to be spinning endlessly. I just left it for over 10 hours overnight and it's still going. Could this be linked to these error images which it's having a hard time finding/loading?
Quite baffled at the moment, and would really appreciate any feedback. TIA.

I just looked more closely. It appears that most of my folders have duplicates of the same image with exactly the same file name. And all the images with the error message have them on both duplicates (i.e. one on an image that has an empty thumbnail, and one on an image that's fine).
When i initially tried to import the library, it proceeded half way then failed. After opening the iPhoto library in Aperture first, and then doing the import again, everything worked fine. So, i'm wondering if the images with errors that are empty/blank may be the result of the failed 1st import.
What's puzzling is why they weren't overwritten (especially since all the file names are exactly the same). When importing the library, i chose 'merge' instead of 'add' when prompted, thinking that would solve it. Obviously not.
EDIT 2:
After reflecting on this, i thought one solution may be to:
a) Find all the error'd images that are empty/blank and delete them, and then
b) Find and remove all duplicates
So i followed Leonie's suggestion to create a Smart Album and use the 'File Status is Missing' rule.
But now, i see that there are images that i imported into Aperture months ago that have the same problem. And the new thing is that there are duplicates with errors where *both* images are visible (whereas for the iPhoto library i just imported, there were dupes where one version was blank and the other was visible and seemingly ok).
I'm really hoping there is a simple solution to this, and am awaiting some feedback before i try anything else.
NB. This is a super large (over 100GB) Aperture library that i am trying to consolidate everything into. It is Work In Progress and i was only going to back it up once the import of various iPhoto libraries was done. However, I'm wondering if it's better to just back up first - but if i do it now, the backup will include all these errors and duplicates. What would you guys do?

Followed Leonie's advice to look for the (missing) masters inside the Masters folder, and indeed, they were missing. So, that confirms the reason for the error message.
If this does not work, because you have managed originals, inside the Aperture Library, look for your originals in the Aperture Library Package. Select the Library in the Finder and ctrl-click, then select "Show Package Contents" from the pop-up. In the Finder window that opens, navigate to the folder "Masters". Your missing images should be inside; the folder is structured by date of import.
Of course, the question is - why the masters for these few images are missing, when the other images in the same project that were imported/merged at the same time are fine.
Trying to do the library import/merge from iPhoto into Aperture again. Fingers crossed. Will report back on the result.

Merging multiple idocs into 1 XML output

Hi Gurus,
I've got a scenario whereby i will need to send payment documents via idocs to XI and XI will output them into an XML file.
At the moment, when i perform a payment run for multiple vendors and send the idocs out, i realised that multiple idocs are being sent out and XI will output multiple XML docs.
Is there any way i can merged these idocs into a single XML document? The idocs are all from the same system.

You want to create or process an XI message with multiple instances of an IDoc (of the same IDoc or extension type) in the mapping.

How true! I had to do this recently and used Audacity for the task, having nothing else suitable (that I know of, at least). My method was to open each MP3 in its own Audacity window, select and copy all of the second file, close its window, and paste it into the end of the first file, repeating the process for each additional MP3. After all the pieces are in place, export the whole thing as a new MP3. This was cumbersome indeed, and it took concentration to remember which file was which and avoid assembling the pieces in the wrong order. This description will make a lot more sense to someone who has done it than to anyone who hasn't.
All of this is to say that if you get a better answer than my kludgey Audacity method, I'll be as grateful as you are.

Audacity is what you need.
Obviously you need to create a new MP3 file of the combined songs and not delete the originals.
If your DJ-ing and/or just have too many songs to do that, then look at the free VirtualDJHome version, gives you a lot of control over your music playback.

Merging a collection into a table

I have a table with some blank columns.
I take all the data from the table in a collection and then process the data to fill those empty columns.
Now i have the collection with all the valid data.
Is it possible to cast this same collection into a table and merge it again into the original table?
I am trying to do so, but there is an error saying "cant use local collection"...
Any help on this would be appreciated.

I would like to give you an elaborate process.
I have a table ABC. Some columns of that table are empty. I need to get those filled using some other tables.
Firstly, using a cursor I fetch the records in a collection say V_ABC.
Now in a FOR loop, I am fetching the missing data from other tables for every record in the collection and setting it in the empty places in the collection V_ABC itself.
So finally i have the collection V_ABC which has complete data.
The FOR loop is now ended.
Now i try to merge this V_ABC into tale ABC like this:
MERGE INTO ABC abc
USING TABLE(CAST(V_ABC AS TT_ABC)) z
ON (abc.random_column_name = z.random_column_name)
WHEN MATCHED THEN
UPDATE
SET abc.initially_empty_column = z.initially_empty_column
The exact error is "Error: PLS-00642: local collection types not allowed in SQL statements".
I am forced to use PL-SQL because of performance issues.
Could you provide an alternate way?
I guess one way would be to create another empty collection and EXTENDing it and creating a replica of V_ABC. Then probably it will allow me to merge. But i m not sure.

Merging Multiple Artists Into One Album

Ok so I donwloaded a CD called Buzz Cuts with alot of great artisits. Now my problem is there are 30 songs and Itunes is showing 30 different albums even though they are all from the same CD. Its messing up because of all the different artists. How can I merge them all into one album called Buzz Cuts. Or is there a way to sort them. Its a pain having 30 extra cds at the top screen. Please help.

All of this can be adjusted by simply right clicking a song and selecting "Get info." Under the info tab, you can customize things like crazy. For instance, you can insert into the "album" field the title of the compilation.

Merging 2 Hashmaps into 1

What is the easyiest way to merge 2 Hashmaps into 1?
So Say h1, h2 and hashmaps with data in, h3 is a empty hashmap that i want to contain all the values of h1 and h2.
Only way I know how is to loop through each Hashmap and add the value pairs to the new hashmap.
Is there a way to do this much easyier like

    h3 += h2;or some method ?

By this I mean I have file with 2-12 curve layers - I wanted to 'merge' the curves so that I can end up with a single curve with the attributes of many. Maybe is there a script that would do this?

I don't mean to be critical, but how do you get to a situation where you have 12 successive Curves layers?
The advantage to a Curves layer is that you can adjust and re-adjust it to your heart's content.
If you're habitually adding new Curves layers one over the other, maybe you should re-evaluate your process of working... Perhaps the way you're thinking you should just work at a high bit depth and do repeated Curves operations on the pixels? Or put some time into retraining yourself to not add a new Curves layer but to manipulate the one that's already there. There are some nice new enhancements (e.g., the "finger" subtool that allows you to choose a spot in the image and manipulate that part of the curve).
Again, I'm not trying to criticize you, just looking to see if maybe there's a way to avoid getting to the point where you need to combine Curves in the first place, since there's no direct "Merge Curves" capability, outside of just stamping a set of image and adjustment layers into pixels. For completeness I suppose I should mention how to do that... You can Stamp any combination of visible layers into a single layer of pixels (effectively combining all the Curves layers et. al.) by pressing Control - Shift - Alt - E.

Merge multiple tables into one for export to excel

I've got a few tables in Numbers, and I've spent ages making them all look the same, then when I exported to an excel file, they split up into seperate tables. How can i merge all these into one table so they can all be viewed in Excel, without losing the cell shading/borders etc?
I tried just copying/pasting the tables into a new blank table, but this doesn't paste the borders etc...

Adi,
Fill color will copy and paste, as will Text styles, but borders will not when pasting into another table. My suggestion for future work is to not use fancy borders, or don't apply them until you have combined the tables.
If you would like Apple to consider changing the behavior of borders during Copy/Paste operations, you can leave Feedback for them under the Numbers Menu.

Merging 2 ODS into 1 Cube

i have 2 ODS-Objects (ODS_A & ODS_B) and have to merge the content into a Cube by an update-routine. The problem is, that it is not a 1:1 merge.
Here is a short description of the merge-logic.
In the update-routine i declared 2 internal tables and "move" the content of the ods-object to the tables (see source-code). after that i want to join the 2 internal tables, but it looks like it is not possible. i know that oracle is able to do it in the following way.
select * from ods_content_a as a, (select col1, col2 from ods_content_b group by col1) as b where a-col1 = b-col1.
knows anyone a solution to join 2 internal tables or to reproduce the oracle sql-statement???
data: ods_content_a like ods_a

Have you tried using Pages '09 which should still be in your Applications/iWork folder?

Merge data files into spreadsheet exports 1 field

In acrobat 11.0.5 the 'merge data files into spreadsheet' tool only exports the filename and 1 field. The form was created in livecycle designer ES3 and previous versions created in livecycle 2 and 2.5, using previous versions of acrobat have exported all fields when using the 'merge data files into spreadsheet' tool. IU there a fix for this?
