Merging ALAC Library with Lossy Library

Hi,
I'm currently mid-way through ripping all of my physical CDs to Apple Lossless in their own iTunes Library. I have a second iTunes Library (my original iTunes Library) that has a good deal of music that I no longer have physical copies of. Is there a way to add the music from the old (lossy) library into the new ALAC library without having to go through and manually remove the lossy versions of songs that occur in both libraries (the vast majority).
I understand that this will "contaminate" my lossless library with lossy files, but that's okay. I just want everything that I can in losslesss. That said, I don't want to just ignore or get rid of that other music.
Any ideas?

Yeah we thought about just syncing straight to her itune library... But the problem is she had used her iphone 3gs to purchase a boat load of new music and apps during the past 30 days or so... And those now only show up in my itunes library...
Also - I want to be careful not to wipe out all of my content by syncing her phone with my itunes again... Are there any precautions to take to make sure that the sync ensures content writing to her iphone ... rather than the other way around?

Converting ALAC library to MP3 for Micro? HELP

Hi Guys I have a large ALAC itunes library that I stream and use modded Ipods for listening. I bought a Microphoto for the car and am having trouble mirroring my Itunes ALAC Library (All CD Ripped) into the Creative Media Source downconverting to MP3. Can you help me? Im lost.

So my question remains if I download it can I copy it to my Android device on a memory card and play it in a non apple player? It seems as though once you sign up and all my music is matched, I can download it.

Rename the second iPhoto 2 library to something other that iPhoto Library and put it in the Pixtures folder next to the other library on your new MBP. Then open it with iPhoto11 to convert.
Once both are converted to the same version you can use iPLM to merge them into a new library.
HOWEVER if you don't care about any metadata you might have in your last iPhoto 2 library you can use SyncPhotos
to import the photos in your iPhoto 2 library into your iPhoto 11 library.
Here's how it works:
1 - it compares the databases and/or album.xml files of Libraries A and B.
2 - the files in A that are not in B are imported into B by copying the original files from A into B's Import folder.
3 - it then does the same for B.
4 - metadata is not copied.
It can be used to just copy from A to B and not sync both ways if desired. It will work with 2 libraries that are different versions, i.e. between an iPhoto 08 and iPhoto 09 library.

-I had an iPod synchronized music library into a Windows laptop.
-I have switched to a brand new MacBook Pro.
-All my musics are in my iPod
-When I try to export my iPod music library into my MacBook iTunes library with manual synchro, I have only choice to ERASE music library in my iPod...
I need to MERGE iPod library (full) with MacBook library (empty) : but how to ask this "one time" action ?
Or perhaps it is not the good way to realize this operation ?

Can't you backup your itunes library from your pc (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1382 or http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1751) and restore it on your new mac?
If you have an ipod touch, you can't transfer your music back, unless you bought it in the Store and use "transfer purchases" in the File menue in itunes.
You can also use 3rd party software like http://www.wideanglesoftware.com/touchcopy or similar to copy your media content back.

How to merge one library into another library?

In iPhoto 9.6, is it possible to merge one library into another library? Or otherwise, import individual pictures, from one library into the other library? All of this happening on the same computer.I understand that this feature was covered by Aperture but that this is no longer supported under Yasemite?

The current version of Aperture can merge libraries (I have no idea where you got the incorrect information that it can not)

Merging local records with device records failed

Hi,
I have a macbook with OS X 10.4.11 (Intel procesor) I did install the latest Pockect mac for blackberry version (the current one in the Blackberry's page), i use to use the old one, since I did the updated I can't get that both, device and Mac SYNC any item, no contacts, no calendar...
The message I got last time was:
06:06:57:140 merging local records with device records failed.
Could some one with me a light on this bug?

Can you try synching one PIM database at a time, e.g. just Contacts by itself, so we can determine which database is experiencing the problem? The error you are receiving is likely being caused by one specific database.
Once you have identified the database that is causing problems, can you perform the steps listed below:
1 - Run Data Purge on the affected database. Data purge can be found in the following location:
Mac HD/users/<Home User>/Library/Application Support/PocketMacSyncManager/Additional Tools.
***Please note this utility will delete all information stored in the selected database on your BlackBerry however once the information has been deleted from your device you can reimport the data to your BlackBerry from the application on your Mac.
2 - Run Sync Clean, which can be found in the same folder as Data Purge.
3 - Disconnect the BB from the Mac, remove the battery from the back of the device, wait 10 seconds then reinsert it
4 - Reboot the Mac
5 - Reconnect your BlackBerry to your Mac
6 - Open PocketMac and select Reset All Devices to First Sync State from the Devices menu
7 - Configure synchronization settings for the affected PIM database, choosing the option to Overwrite Device. If the data is successfully transferred to the device, reconfigure PocketMac back to doing a two-way sync.
If you are still running into the same problem after performing the steps above, try synching one category of the affected database at a time. To do this, click on the tab of the database you are trying to sync, click on Advanced Preferences next to the selected application, and choose the option to sync only selected categories. Try synching with only one category selected at a time, just to see if the issue is related to data within a specific category.

Do you possibly mean the contacts have been merged?
If so, where are each of you syncing contacts? A supported application on the computer? iCloud or another cloud service? An Exchange server?

I am not sure what's happening with IE9 (no live site) but I had real problems viewing your code in Live View - until I removed the HTML comment marked below. Basically your site was viewable in Design View but as soon a I hit Live view, it disappeared - much like IE9. See if removing the comment solves your issue.

We have a case where we are attempting to burst a subset of the records to a single merged PDF file, with other records being sent to individual files (same template for all records). I thought that I had seen this merging with emails where the xapi:email and xapi:message details were the same (before our development environment was refreshed), but cannot reproduce this now.
When I try this with file system output (xapi:filesystem), I get the following error in the bursting log file:

duplicate entry: /MergedFileName.pdf
java.util.zip.ZipException: duplicate entry: /MergedFileName.pdf
Is it possible to generate a merged PDF file (xapi:filesystem) of some of the records?

As you discovered, it is not possible to use .jdb files from one environment in a different environment. The .jdb files use an internal format with relationships between files that form the Btree.
I'm glad to hear you were able to use DbDump and DbLoad successfully.

The photos have just been dumped into a new home and need to be told how to be arranged. Go to the top left of the browser view for the merged project and select the desired sort order from the drop-down and they'll all sort according to that setting.

Also, on the Archwiki, we are advised to change 'kdesu' to 'gksudo' for GNOME, but I think it should be gksu

You bet your ass, manual intervention is needed. If you try to blindly just merge *.pacnew with original files, it might lead to an unbootable system. Especially when you get pacnew files for /etc/group and /etc/inittab

I installed win 7 via bootcamp, now i installed parallels and using win 7 via my bootcamp (parallels). since i installed parallel can i merge bootcamp partition with macintosh hd, without reinstalling win7 for further use

Not sure check with the Parallels helps section and or there forums.
The reason I say this is if Parallels Created a Virtual Machine File for that BC install then Yes you can use Boot Camp assistant to delete the Windows Partition and that will merge it back into the Mac partition and not disrupt the Parallels VM of Windows.
