Merging bracketed images

Is there an easy way to process bracketed exposures in Elements 9 or will I need the full Photoshop?

If you want to merge your bracketed shots into one well-exposed photos, you can use photomerge exposure. For knowing more about photomerge exposure, you can follow the page: http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/using/enhancing.html#main-pars_heading_4
In PSE9, you can find photomerge exposure under File > New > Photomerge Exposure

  • Merge split image segments

    Dear Friends,
in an external PDF all images are splitted to smaller segments.
I heard this is quite common in PDF generation due Postscript.
I am placing this external PDF on an Indesign document page which is also exported again as a final PDF/SWF/JPEG.
But in the final PDF/SWF/JPEG there are white lines visible in the images, when they appear, allways between two image segments.
I heard this is due to rounding errors of position x-/y-coordinates of these image segments rendering them not perfectly onto their intended position.
I think about two general solutions:
Merge all image segments to a complete image.
Being able to position these segments with lock / automatically to make them perfectly edge to each other (but what would be with these rounding errors?).
This is a quite common problem to designers who want to further use the ressources or pages of an external PDF.
Often the senders of those external PDFs have not even got the original data (careless/lost/etc.).
It would be great if there is a reliable, solid solution to this problem.
Thank you for answers in advance!
    With best regards
    Inno

A naive (but possibly sufficient) implementation could just be to keep a table mapping (x,y) pairs to countries. To keep the table smaller, you could map 10x10 blocks of pixels to countries.
Ultimately this is about storing and then managing data.
One hack (in my opinion) is to check the color of the clicked pixel in the image of the map. But that is nasty for a variety of reasons (such as, it keeps you from being able to easily change the map image, and things like text in the map (like the names of countries) kind of screws that up. But it's an option.
You can also keep lists of pixels in sequence describing a polygon, and then use certain algorithms (which I don't recall right now) to determine whether a given point is inside or outside a given polygon.
Also you can do things like "binary space partitions", I think.
These last two things are computer graphics techniques, and are non-trivial to implement. I dimly recall them from college but recall no details. You can get a computer graphics textbook (which tend to be expensive) to get more info, or these days there's probably a wiki about it somewhere.
But I'd suggest keeping it modular. Add a layer of abstraction, writing an API around this functionality. Then write an implementation with a simple table of locations or blocks of locations, and if this proves to be insufficient later, swap it out with something more sophisticated.

  • How to merge layered images?

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to merge layered images in Illustrator CS3?
I'm used to doing it with Photoshop. I thought the merge in Pathfinder would work but apparently not
    Thanks for any advice
    George

Choose both layers (click on one and hold down the CTL key to click on the second), then go to the layers drop down menu, and choose 'Merge Selected'.
    OR
Choose both layers as above, go to layers drop down menu, and choose 'Collect in New Layer'.
Not sure this is what you're wanting to do .... if not, there may be another way.

  • Issue merging multiple images in PS Elements Mac

I want to merge multiple images using PS Elements Editor/Organiser for Mac - when I click 'expert', then 'enhance' then 'photomerge' then 'Panorama' as suggested in 'Help' I get this error window:
I appears to be some sort of s/w issue but would value pointers, thanks folks, Sean.

many thanks Barbara and apologies folks I did not appreciate my pasted graphic would not show up! Here is the graphic I get in PS elements 11 for Mac when I click on Photomerge Panorama. Would value any suggestions although I suspect it is a s/w error as such rather than finger trouble - love to hear it is the latter! Sean

  • Merging multiple images into one

    Hi,
I am using Photoshop CS5 Extended on OSX.
I am still green when it comes to using Photoshop so all help to this question is much appreciated.
I am trying to merge several images together into the one. The images all have the same background but with a single object moving through the images in procession (the images are of a skiing piste with a snowboarder moving through). I have searched for a solution online but the best I found with so far is making each image a layer and then using a mask on each layer and making only the snowboarder visible from each picture. This works ok but it is quite difficult to get each layer to blend in nicely with the background. Also, I am dealing with 20+ layers, so it is a very labour-intensive solution. I am asking to see if there is another solution whereby I can merge all the images together? Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere but I seem unable to find another solution.
Again, thanks in advance for any help :-)

while manual masking is certainly the best option (assuming that all images are taken with a tripod, are somehow aligned, and all have the same exposure) (and 20 layers isn't that labor intensive), you could try to select all 20 layers, make them a smart object, and then go to layers: smart objects: stack mode and see if any of the mode give you something automatically what you are looking for.
another thing you could try (not sure if it'll work) is select the layers and go to auto blend: focus stack and see if that works.
alternatively, you could try cutting the subject out (lasso select, invert selection, delete) in each layer, and then go to auto blend, panorama.

  • Merge Digital Images with HDR

A recent issue of PCMagazine, 6/27/2006, had an article entitled "Cool Photo Projects" which explained merging digital images with HDR. It mentioned that Photoshop CS2 will do that. Can it be done with Photoshop Elements 3? If not, is there a workaround that someone can suggest?
It does indeed look like a "cool project".
    Thanks. Eva

I didn't know what HDR was, but read about it here: http://www.luminous-landscape.com/tutorials/hdr.shtml
Seems to me that there's very little you could do in PSE to emulate this, as it's built-in functionality in CS2.
Having said that, taking a series of identical images, at different exposures, and simply using the best parts is quite possible.

  • Trying to merge 5 images

Whenever I try to merge 5 images of a chorale, the first four are merged together fine, but the 5th image gets put 'under' the top four...I never had this problem with CS3, so I don't know where to begin to resolve...? Using CS5 12.0.3 on Windows 7, 6G's of Ram..
Thanks so much for your time!!

It's "under" because Photoshop can't find any alignment of that image with the other 4 -- so Photoshop treats it as a separate panorama.
And that's probably because the people moved too much between the shots (you do seem to have enough overlap).
You could manually position it, then run the auto-blending command.

  • How to merge two images together

    hi,
I sell mobile phone cases and want to produce my own images. I have taken images of the case and have taken the background off. I have found an image on the internet of the phone and want the phone to be merged into the case.
could someone please help me to do this.
    thanks

In Editor, go to the expert tab.
Open picture B, the one you wish to select something from to add to another picture.
Use one of the selection tools, e.g. selection brush, lasso tool, to select the object. You will see an outline ("marching ants") once the selection is complete
Go to Edit menu>copy to copy the selection to the clipboard
Open picture A, then go to Edit>paste
Use the move tool to position object from picture B.
In the layers palette you should see picture A as the background layer, and object B on a separate layer.

  • PS Elements 3 Merging Layer Images

I have PS Elements 3 which I am enjoying. I bought Photoshop Elements for Dummies. In Book 5 Chapter 1 I am attempting to merge two TIF files supplied as examples. As I read the book, it indicates that I should be able to open two files (i.e. The Layers palette will show both file images). I've tried everything and it would appear that only one file image can be opened at a time. Am I missing something? Is this a feature of PS Elements 4 or 5? I can't seem to find out this information. I would appreciate any suggestions.

The Photo Bin is for "storing" images only, and it cannot be used to accomplish what you want; both images have to be open on the desktop. Only one at a time will show as active in the Layer Palette, but don't worry about that for now. Once you've accomplished the move, both will be visible and you can continue with the instructions Pete posted.
Pete D.'s instructions might be a bit confusing for a beginner, though. Ignore for right now his suggestion to drag from the Layer Palette; that method will work, but you're currently stumped at an earlier stage. Try this:
    Choose either Tile or Cascade.
Open both images and have them visible on the desktop. Having them side by side would be helpful but not necessary.
Make sure the Layer Palette is open.
    Do one of the following:
    A. Control>A on the image you want to move, then Copy it. When that's done, put your mouse on the second image and click on it just so it's active and shows in the Layer Palette. Now do a Paste.
    or
    B. Select the Move tool from the Toolbar. Click on the image you want to move and hold the mouse button down. Drag in onto the second image.

  • Merging HDR images in Photoshop (going from LR)

I'm not sure whether this is a LR or CS3 question, but anyway:
I'm trying to make my way through Scott Kelby's LR2 guide, but ran into the following when I reached the chapter referred to in my subject line: "Merge to HDR.jsx could not be found". I'm running the latest software versions, and used SKs description as follows:
    - shot bracketed photos
    - selected them in LR2/Photo/Edit in/Merge to HDR in Photoshop.
Then, instead of displaying my photos, I got the message above. Could someone please tell me what I may have done wrong?
    thanks in advance,

I am using CS4 and HDR.jsx is a script in the presets/scripts folder.
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4\Presets\Scripts
    Maybe CS3 is missing it??

  • Indesign Data Merge repeating images, mixing up data, etc.

I'm using ID CC and using data merge for a catalog.
when i create the merged document it repeats some of the images, uses data for other products and repeats it.
I've started from scratch, I've avoided the "preview" mode like the plague, I've used CSV and TXT.  I've searched for line breaks in Excel.  What am i doing wrong?

"Show Import Options". , this will tell you what sort of data file you are uploading
@Shiv – only to an extend. InDesign cannot see a difference between Unicode UFT-8 or Unicode UTF-16 at this point, it just detects Unicode.
CSV is an old, can we really say, "file format"?
It's basically a text file with a csv suffix and some rules, that are or are not implemented. InDesign tries to detect the rules: what character for separating the fields? What character for a line of fields ending?
InDesign does not verify very much, if there is a orderly grid-like structure in the fields (a row and column structure) with an equal number of "cells" on every row. And a header row that holds the discription. In fact it cannot "see" a header, because the csv-"format" cannot provide a hint…
CSV is not a file format, see it more as a lose convention and not standardized very much…
I think Adobe should provide its own format for merging data and a converter tool together with InDesign where you could output to and input from a InDesign table with a header row using whatever formatting is available in InDesign.

  • Adobe photoshop elements 12 - merging several images into one

I have a PC, and had an old version of photoshop where i was able to select file - automate - photomerge, and then choose the images.  They would appear in a box at the top of the page and then i could drag them into position in a larger box in the center.  as an example, if i had 4 plate images, i could merge them into one with 2 on a row, and then the other 2 below.
i have been everywhere trying to find out how to do this in this new version without success.  can anyone help???
a photo is attached of what i am attempting to do.

  • Problems Merging Variable Images in InDesign

I'm currently trying to merge text and images to a clients master InDesign file for printed output on our Docucolor. The text is merging fine (when I click the preview button in the merge data tab) but I keep on getting a message pop up to say that pictures are missing or cannot be found. If I proceed to run a merged file InDesign generates a report listing all the missing pictures (which is basically all of the pictures I'm intending to merge / print).
I think the problem lies in the pathnames I'm setting up for each image in my Excel file (which obviously I'm converting to a CSV file afterwards). The InDesign help file shows "\" as separators for Windows and ":" for OSX. My pics are in a folder on the desktop of my Mac but using ":" as separators does not work. If I select an individiual image and do an apple-i the information that appears uses "/" as separators when describing the file's location, so I tried that as well but it didn't work either! I've also tried replacing spaces with "_" in the file names - didn't work.
    What am I doing wrong?

I got fed up with how it handled path names a long time ago, just keep the database in the same folder as the images and you only have to put the file name in the database.

  • CS5 64 bit merging HDR image problem

    Hello,
I am doing a HDR image lesson (Adobe CS5 Classroom in a Book, page 139) using three .DNG files from the training CD.
If I use CS5 32 bit all (model's face and background) is ok.
If I use CS5 64 bit the image has bad background colors and a portion of the model's face is dark red.
So I a wondering if possibly the DNG was created by CS5 32 bit and cannot be opened and processed in CS5 64 bit HDR?
    Note:
Each DNG image looks good using CS5-64 File Open.
I have two jpg if needed to show.
    Vaughan

Has anyone tried this on an installation of Adobe Photoshop CS5 or CS5.1, with an older version of Adobe Camera RAW installed?
I had this issue reported to me by a faculty member who is attempting to teach this lesson in one of our Mac Labs.  She has taught this lesson in the past without issue, but, recently reported this issue.  We recently upgraded our photography lab's equipment, which included new iMacs, and updates to software installed in the lab, including the CS5.5 Design Premium suite.  I'm able to replicate the issue on all the computers in the photo lab, with the same issue as others described above.  I then went to try to replicate the issue on my personal computer with CS5.5 installed, and, surprisingly, the HDR merge worked successfully.  The only signifigant difference on that computer was that it was running Adobe Camera RAW 6.6, rather than the current 6.7.  I then went ahead and updated the Camera RAW on that computer up to version on 6.7, and the problem doing the merge with these specific files returned as it had in the photo lab.
So perhaps this is a combination of 64bit and Camera RAW 6.7?  I can't get the 32bit workaround to work on the Mac's I'm testing.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.
