Merging Clips? Please help.
Can anybody help me? I need to know if it is possible to merge/overlay/overlap (whatever the right terminology would be) clips in iMovie?
I want to join to clips together so that when the movie plays it looks as though I am both on the left and on the right having a conversation with myself if you get me?

Missing recording clip - PLEASE HELP!
Recording some speech clips in GB and went back to them this am to find them missing... I did discover that if I move the clips back and forth through the track, they shorten (cutting off) other clips that take up the same space... So if I slid a recorded clip over too far, and it covered over my previous clip is it gone forever?

PDF is not Merging. Please help me
Hi I have a windows applicatoin which is developed using vb.net and i am trying to Attach or Combine 2 pdf's into one . It works for once or twice and after that it will not attach any pdf . The first pdf stays as such.

Extracted Audio longer than movie clip, please help...
I was reading some of your FAQ's about extracted audio being
recomposed with a mono instead of stereo for exported audio from a microphone or other mono device, and then importing it back into iMovie after mixing it in Quicktime, to make it stereo (albeit with only mono feed).
My question is this:
I extract the audio from the clip that I am running, and it is fine and good while within iMovie, however, once I drag and drop it to my desktop, and open it with quicktime and either play it or export it as mono to get it to play through both speakers, it uses the original
length of audio not the edited version that i pull from imovie. It is very frustrating, and I am not sure why it keeps doing this.
While it is in iMovie, the audio and video match, and are synched. But, when I export it, for some reason, it exports the original audio from the unedited clip (which has already been deleted!), and I don't know what to do to get it to export just the audio clip as it stands now within iMovie.
Any help would be appreciated.

G5 Mac OS X (10.4.9)Hi Aesthesia - that is a fact of life of non-destructive editing. When audio is extracted from a shortened, cropped clip, it actually extracts the entire audio from the underlying original source clip. You can test this by extracting audio from a cropped clip, and you will find that you can, by direct editing, extend it back to its original length.
That explains why the audio file when played outside of iMovie plays at the original length. -
Applying Same EQ Ajustiment to Another Sound Clip -- Please Help
I have been working with the Gain and Channel EQ's on a sound clip to raise audio levels and adjust sound levels, etc. How can I apply the same adjustment I created on a clip to a different audio clip (that follows immediately after for the same sound, etc.) I know there is a simple way to do this...but I don't know how.

Thanks.If the different clip is in the same environment and same type of sound as the first, you could just create a preset with your settings and apply it, or if you're in a multi-track project, group these clips together on one track and put the EQ on the entire track.
If the different clip is not in the same environment and you are trying to get them to match, you could try EQ matching in the processing menu. Take a snapshot of your EQ curve, apply to the 2nd clip. Haven't tried it myself, but give it a go. -
Lining up Two Video clips-please help!
So hi! I've been using premiere for about a year, I came from Sony Vegas Pro.
Anyway, we had a shoot yesterday, a two camera interview on one subject. (7d &5dmII) both shooting 23.976fps and we recorded our audio with an external recorder.
So, I lined up the audio by turning the turning the 'Show Audio in Time Units' on. This works great. I can move the audio to perfectly match up between the frames of the video in 1/4800 increments. Lovely.
After I lined up the audio I attempted to line up the two video tracks on top of each other (when the clap board strikes) and even though the Show Audio in Time Units is enabled, I can't perfectly line up these tracks. The track snaps between frames, making it impossible to line up. Yes, snapping is turned off. How do I move the video 'between the frames' so to speak? This was quite easy to do in Vegas.

I strongly agree. Back in those days, I never felt comfortable with video, even if we recorded it to 2" tape. I could not hold that up to the light and see my images! It was "the devil's work." Back then, there was no deck-to-deck editing, and only doing a diagonal cut and tape job - but you could not really see where you were cutting.
Regarding NLE work nowadays, like you, I'd only go back for a "trip down memory lane." I can do on a simple laptop, 10,000 more things than I could ever do on an 8-plate Moviola - things that I could not even imagine back then. Had I been given a peak at PrPro in 2010, back in '72, I would never have been able to either believe it, or comprehend it.
You know, every time that I see the word Bin, I can conjure up those laundry "bins," with racks above and either clips or clothes pins. I also remember squinting to try and read the cryptic notes in grease pencil at the head of each in the darkened edit booth. "is that a 5, or an 8? Oh SHOOT, I just smudged it!"
Don't get me started on mixed formats. I'd never have considered mixing 8mm (split-16), S-8, 16mm and a bit of 35mm in an edit. Only recourse was a trip to the lab for prints, and we always knew that quality was going to differ greatly. Now, we just run the stuff through a conversion program, Import and edit happily, or nearly so.
Yes, I will take that random crash/hang, and smile. If the Moviola crashed, we had to fly a tech from Dallas and then hold our breath. Of course we could jump over to our rewinds and splicing block, and still get a bit of work done - the "old fashioned way."
The kids have no idea of easy they have it - right on their desktops. I envy them, 'cause they started with NLE and probably have creative ideas, that I will never have, just 'cause I still have a slightly closed view of things. I envy them!

ADOBE PREMIERE PRO-Merged clips wont link to the Media...please help!
One of my hard drives crashed and it unlinked other media which is on the other hard drive...In Adobe Premiere Pro when I try to link the media it links but the merged clips remain unlinked...I see the picture but no sound. Please help me its a massive project and I'm in desperate need of help. Thanks!

HI my partner used my apple id and email address when setting up his iPhone so when he turned on iCloud our phones merged!! How do we undo this? Can he still use my iTunes account with a different Id and can he change the email on his phone without losing information? Also iPad is linked too, the family uses this and I would like to keep my phone separate! At the moment nothing is sacred! Please help! We are not very good with computers!!
Several things here so let me attempt to clarify.
For iCloud the reason the contacts where removed from he other device is because you updated your contacts, in this case deleted them, and then iCloud updated the other device to match. By deleting the iCloud account on the device it will stop the device from using that iCloud account and therefore nothing will change on the other device. By using a seperate Apple ID you can still use the features of iCloud, Find My iPhone comes to mind, without your content (contacts, message etc.) merging with the other device
For iTunes, you cannot use two Apple IDs for one account however if you use the same account iTunes on your computer will keep the content on each device seperate very nicely. You can also configure the settings for iTunes and the App store on each device to keep the content from automatically downloading to the other device. What I meant by share apps and music is this. What happens if you find a game, lets say Minecraft, that you really like and it cost, as Mincraft cost, $6.99USD. You buy it and play for a while and then you realize that your husband really likes the game as well. If you both use the same Apple ID for iTunes he can download the $7.00ish game to his device at no additional charge. If you use seperate Apple IDs for iTunes well... it look like he will also be paying for the game to have it on his account. Same goes for Music and Movies

IMovie Clip Speed Issue! Please Help!

I have been having a weird issue with iMovie '09. Here are my current iMovie and computer specs.

Purchased a little over a year ago.
*My Problem:*
I start a new project in iMovie, I import the footage from my camera (Sony Webbie HD MHS-CM1 Camcorder - 1080p). iMovie imports the footage into 1440 x 1080 .mov files.
When I drag a event clip into the project area. I am able to preview the project as I work on it in the top right hand corner. Next I want to speed up the clip to make it fast forward. I click on the clip in the project, it highlights yellow. I click on the gear in the bottom left hand corner of the clip and click on clip adjustments. If I adjust the speed to any speed, even if I check reverse and I click okay. I preview the project and the preview in the top right corner is frozen at the first frame of the clip. The sound plays from the clip and regular speed. The clip in the project can no longer be adjusted or even selected. All I do from there on is delete the clip, I can't do anything and I am forced to restart the project and do it all over again, which wont work. The problem is I really need to use the clip.
I have tried to restart iMovie and even the computer, but it does nothing.
Please help me fix this problem.

KyleRight click on the clip in your Event and see if it gives you the option to Optimize Video. If so, optimize your video and it should be able to do the speed changes.

hey there, so im making a video for a family event..
i drag in an audio clip all of a sudden this becomes the be all and end all, and i want to sync some vid clips to that audio track, so let's say i drag in a 10 second video clip, at the end of the 10 seconds, i want to add a transition to fade to black.. i go to the transition window.. choose the cross dissolve or fade to colour, but it will not allow me to drag it on that video clip.. it always ends up on the audio track. this bloody application is so confusing compared to final cut. please help!Ahhh, now I see the problem, Grasshopper. Yes, that little piece of info is critical. I'd say the biggest difficulty with FCPX is the whole new language.
If I read you correctly, your Audio is in the Main Storyline (Track 1 in plain old Editorese). This makes anything else you add (above or below) a "connected clip", which we can no longer think of as "Track 2" because Jobs sez so. So, yes, you cannot just add a transition to either end of a connected clip.
No argument with Tracy's solution, because I haven't seen any other general solution presented for any attempt to treat connected clips as the main storyline. And, of course, when they were "track 1" and "track 2", you could.
An alternative solution, however, is to highlight the connected clip and press Ctrl-V to bring up the Video Animation Editor. Click the "reveal button" for Compositing: Opacity (bottom, right). Once open, there is a "fade handle" to the right top. Drag it left for however much fade you wish. (there is one on the left as well, but you were only talking about a fade-out.)
A second alternative, perhaps for future projects where everything keys on audio, may be to create a Gap clip (used to be called slug) in the primary storyline before ever dropping in the audio. Then you can add video to the main story line and modify it without having to go thru hoops to do the simplest thing. -

Noise at the beginning of each clip. PLease please help!
I have multiple interviews on my video and every one of the clips start with some bad noise. The problem seems to be happening after encoding the video. It sounds great in premiere but once I encode the noise appears. I recorded in 16 bit with a mono directional microphone. added music and i used a little bit of the denoiser ( -9) effect ( which doesn't seem to affect the start of the clip) please please help.
It is a known issue with the denoiser effect, it takes a few frames for it to kick in. If you have Audition you could use the noise reduction effects there instead, they are much better.

You just need to call the main methods of the 2 classes according to "1" or "2" entered.
It is better if the "multiplication" and "addition" are declared as methods rather than in main methods.

Masked pre comp of clip not showing clip motion within the mask please help

I'm trying to create a phenakistoscope Phenakistoscope - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia out of a motion picture of a dancer.
I've transformed the clip of the dancer and precomposed it and then masked and animated the rotation of the pre comp in a new composition. I then duplicated the now animated pre comp 20 times offsetting each one, a frame later than the last to create the wheel effect with trailing frames.
The animation of the mask and offset is working fine, however the footage in the clip is not playing in the masked composition.

adamI'm replying to your question on my phone so I can't look at your project but I did look at your video.
Here is what I would do to troubleshoot the project. First run a RAM preview of the pre-composed and masked wedge comp. If that plays back correctly then everything else should work unless you have applied some kind of time effect to the duplicated layers. If that doesn't work then show us a screenshot of that pre-comp with all of the properties of the movie layer revealed (Press that u key twice).
If you have not sorted this out by the time I get back the office I will try and take a look at your project. -

What version of iPhoto? Do yuo hae Aperature 3.3? With iPhoto 9.3 and Aperature 3.3 you can merge iPhoto libraries - you also can do it with the paid version of iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ -
