Merging contacts btn iphone 3g and iphone 4s

Hi there,
So I have 2 phones. One is an iphone 3G which I use for personal use and the other is an iphone 4s currently used for work. I have different contact lists on each of the phones with some common contacts. I'd like to find a way where I can continue using the phones as described, but arrive upon a fool-proof process, wherein I could merge/sync the contacts from both into 1 common contact list, which I could then continue to maintain and sync on both. The key point being, I would like to add contacts individually on each phone - for either work or personal use, but when I sync each of the phones to a master list, both the phones should be updated with the combined contact list. Hope that was clear!
I have heard that Google Contacts is the way to go for this, but not sure. I am also on a Mac, with OSX 10.5.8.

No - the syncing process for contact info is a bidirectional or true sync process. There is no setting for not transferring or syncing contacts with an email address only. If you don't want these contacts with an email address only on your iPhone, delete the contacts from the address book used by OE.

This is not a question. This is an explanation of how to merge contacts from iPhone to iCloud.
I cant believe how difficult Apple makes this process. I figured it out on my own because Apple does not explain it. In fact, Apple hasn't even provided directions or guidance on this topic since 2012.
Here it is. Go to Settings on your iPhone. Go to iCloud. Un-hook the slider next to Contacts. Hook the slider next to Contacts. A pop up asks Merge, hit merge. This will copy all contacts in your iPhone to the Cloud.
Apple needs to get back to basics or risk losing customers.

If the contacts are solely on your iPhone and not apart of iCloud, go to Settings > iCloud and turn off Contacts. It will ask if you want to delete or keep the contacts on your iPhone. Go ahead and keep them on your iPhone. When that is done, turn it back on and iCloud will merge all that contact data back onto iCloud.

Merging contacts between iphone and Outlook rather than syncing

I want to be able to update a contact on iphone and in Outlook and when I sync I want the contacts to merge.
At the moment they seem to sync so if I have deleted on old phone number in Outlook but it is still on iphone it reappears after the synce and vice versa.
I want to merge so I can edit freely on both devices and on syncing be given the choice what information to accept or reject (like my Nokia E51 used to).

You will need to find 3rd party software to move that music back to your iTunes library. Use Google to find one you like.

I have my yahoo contacts on my iphone. It was set up that way when I bought it by the salesman. I just created an icloud account and added new contacts to my icloud contacts. Now I would like to merge my yahoo contacts and yahoo contacts on my iphone into icloud contacts. I have been unable to find out how to do this in the help sections. Do the following:
Go to Settings>iCloud, turn Contacts to Off, choose Delete from My iPhone when prompted (any iCloud contacts will still be in iCloud).
Download the app My Contacts Backup. (If you have more than 500 contacts to transfer from Yahoo you will need the “Pro” version.) Use the app to back up the remaining contacts on your phone (from Yahoo) as a vCard attachment to an email that you send to yourself. Confirm that you have received the email.
Go to Settings>iCloud and turn Contacts back to On.
Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Account (in the Contacts section) and set this to iCloud.
Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars…tap your Yahoo account and turn off contacts syncing with Yahoo (otherwise you will see duplicates of your Yahoo contacts on your phone).
Open the My Contacts Backup email and tap the attachment to import the Yahoo contacts back to your phone, and to iCloud. All your contacts should now be in iCloud.

You can continue to use the current AppleID for iTunes, but your husband can create a new AppleID to use to create a new iCloud account that will be his own and not overlap with yours. If you do not have another email address to use for an AppleID, just get a free Gmail account and use that.
You can have as many AppleIDs as you want (or at least, as many as you have email addresses for). You can use a separate AppleID for the store, another for iCloud, and even another for iMessage if you wish.
You will want to keep the current one as the shared one for the store as all your previous purchases are permanently tied to it, and thus you need that AppleID to update or redownload your current purchased content.

How to delete contacts from iPhone and update changes to PC after synch?

I spend a lot of time deleting old/unwanted/duplicated contacts on iPhone. Then I synch with PC through iTunes and I get two options: 1. MERGE or 2. Replace contacts on iPhone with PC information. If I click MERGE then all those contacts I deleted come back to my iPhone. MERGE seems to be a merely 'collapse' information feature...whether is from PC to iPhone or viceversa.
Obviously I don't want to replace my iPhone contacts with those in PC, because then I will loose all those pictures I took to my contacts...also, all the time spent assigning pictures to contacts will go to trash can.
This is kind of irritating...am I the only one having this problem? Active Synch for SmartPhones or Pocket PC nailed this down beautifully (it knows where the latest/most updated information happened and keeps that one).

I don't want to replace the information on my iPhone because in my iPhone where i have the most updated information (pictures assigned to contacts and deleted duplicated/unwanted contacts)...I would like to replace the contacts on my PC instead.
After doing what you are suggesting will I be able to replace information on my PC? Is this what you mean?

If Outlook already has a munch of contacts, do I need to delete them all (all but 1 unique) to sync correctly?
I have and iPhone ith up to date contacts, and I have outlook with some of the same contacts with older info. When I sync, outlook is OK, but I get a lot of copies of the same contact on my iPhone. Now I'm not entirely sure which are the up-to-date contacts and which aren't (and there's hundred of contacts to go through).
...For future reference, is there a way to to send the iPhone contacts to Outlook without adding crap to my phone? Amidst the sync process I noticed and option for conflicting files and choose the "always use phone" but still wound up with a contact mess of mixed old and new on the phone.

If you begin syncing contacts with iCloud you will be given the option to merge your contacts with the accout. If you do, your contacts will be uploaded to the account and will appear on both your phone and hers (if she is sharing the same account/ID). Be aware that if you do this, if she then deletes your contacts from her device, they will also be deleted from yours and they will be lost. For this reason, it's usually recommended that different users maintain separate iCloud accounts with separate IDs, which makes it easier for users to restore contacts from iCloud.

You can right click the iPhones in iTunes and choose to Reset the iTunes sync alerts, then choose to not merge contacts on the next sync or just sync the contacts to seperate iCloud accounts.

1) Can i seek help for transferring of contacts from iphone 3g to PC? When i select sync contacts on my itunes to my pc. My contacts will not show up on the pc.

Make sure you have at least one contact in the contact manager on the PC, so there are contacts to merge.

Unfortunately I'm not sure there's much I can do to help. When your contacts are deleted it's not unusual to still see this when you text or use spotlight search. The device retains some residual contact information in cache memory even when the contacts are deleted. However, there's no way to access this directly, or transfer it back to your contacts on your device. If you have a backup of your device, you may be able to recover them by restoring to the entire backup, however this is not always successful. If you want to try, and your backup is in iCloud, use this procedure to prevent any recovered contacts from being overwritten by iCloud:
Ensure the device is connected to your local network.
Start the restore from iCloud back up.
Allow the devices settings to restore (watch for the confirmation of completion).
As the apps begin to restore pull the connection to your router WAN port (the one that goes to the telephone point).
Wait for the time out confirmation.
Navigate to settings > iCloud and turn off contact syncing (keep contacts when prompted).
Reconnect the router to the internet and let the restore process complete.
Delete the iCloud contacts from iCloud.com on a computer.
Navigate to settings > iCloud and turn on contact syncing (merge contacts when prompted).

Hi Cynthia! If you are syncing from something like Gmail you can go into the iPhones Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>(account you are syncing)> and turn off contacts. It will ask you if you want to delete them from your phone - just click delete. Exit Settings and turn phone off by power button (not all the way OFF). Then re-open Settings>mail, Contacts, Calendars>(account you are syncing)> and turn Contacts back on - This is where you need to be careful - When you turn contacts back on you will be prompted to delete or save the contacts already on your phone. CLICK DELETE. You should now have only your synced contacts on your phone! Hope it helps!

You have to follow the process outlined here to recover contacts from an iCloud backup: Recovering deleted iCloud contacts from an iCloud backup.. Otherwise, as you have noticed, the recovered contacts are overwritten when your device reconnects to iCloud.

I have 3 iPhones, one iPad and 2 PC's, all using the same iTunes account. I want to be able to have each iPhone keep their own list of accounts and music list and the I pad different as well. I want to 2 PC's music list to match. How do I do this?
Additionally, when I connected iPhone #3 to one PC, it removed the contacts from #3 and replaced it with contacts from iPhone #2. How do I get those contacts back and prevent this from happening again?

If you resintall iTunes, it should fix the issue. The following document will go over how to remove iTunes fully and then reinstall. Depending on what version of Windows you're running you'll either follow the directions here:
