Merging content - single or merged book?

I have a use case where I need to create a User Guide using unstructured FM9. Some of the content is already in two seperate distinct FM books each with their own cover page and TOC. Other content has yet to be created.
Is it better to have a single book and organise the content from the exisitng books into folders, or create a book for each of the existing and new sections and merge them into a parent book. I should add that I will be the only person adding / editing content. Thoughts? Best practice?

I’ve never really seen any discussion of the merits of one approach over the other – I use the Book of Books strategy because my content flows over to RH for WebHelp creation and it made the ToC structure relatively seamless. I think if I was including a variety of types of content, then the folder approach might seem more attractive.

It is a bit unclear what you are sending these POs to the other system for? Is it for matching to invoices there? Is it for receiving into inventory there?
Are these two entities belong to the same parent but on two different oracle apps databases?
In essence what do they do with the PO that you are sending to them?
Why do you think there will be intercompany invoicing?

How can I copy the contents of an address book group

Does anyone know how I can copy the entire contents of an Address Book group and paste the results into an e-mail to send to others? When I select the group and then the "copy" tool, it copies only the first address in the group. If I select "select all", it selects all e-mail addresses everywhere, not just the ones in the intended group.

He did not want to add them all to his address book; he simply wanted to have my long list of staff email addresses without having to type it or create it himself, like this: [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], etc. We used to use an email application called Eudora which allowed you to copy and paste group lists as though they were just text characters. With Mail (and Address Book), everything is connected to everything else and a group list is actually a set of flagged contacts from your "All Contacts" list.

That's because app content is stored in the iPhone backup, not the app. What you should have done, is first restore from backup, then sync your iTunes content...the app in question...back to your phone. That would have restored the app data. However, if you've synced, since restoring the app to your phone, the app data is gone.

The synch with my iPad didn't restore my Address Book, but when I changed the Contacts preference on my iPod Touch & synched it my Address book was restored. Thanks for the help.

Help! I cannot find and retrieve the contents of my Address Book from Time Machine.

Last week I backed up my iMac using Time Machine, saving everything onto an external hard drive. I then re-installed the OS X, and have since been steadily retrieving all the important stuff onto my cleaned up iMac. However, I can't find the contents of my Address Book, to the annoyance of my wife. Where is it?

Why did the content of my iPad book disappear? I have tried to sync with no succes in recovering. iTunes store does not have an option to re-download.

If the book is still available in the store then you should be able to delete it from the iBooks app via the Edit button at the top right of the bookshelf, and then re-download it via the Purchased tab in the ibookstore in the iBooks app. Is the book still in the store, and does it appear in the Purchased tab ?

You can do this on the desktop using the Acrobat SDK as a custom plugin.
You can do this on a server with Adobe LiveCycle PDF Generator.

HT203433 Can I convert a single track audio book into multiple chapters?

This is more for my 6 year old son, we have on CD Thomas the Tank Engine story CDs, which imported as individual songs/chapters, so they can be shuffled. I recently purchased another Thomas story CD from itunes assuming it would download in the same way, but it was an audiobook. It does not show different chapters, they are all lumped together in on single file. I have gone through and made a note of the timings where the 12 stories start and stop, so is there any way that I can separate them into 12 separate files under one album?

You have the other choice with drag/drop or duplicate where you copy the adjustment layers into the other image document. Target all the adjustment layers in the layer palette click on the first one the Ctrl|CMD+click on the others or if adjacent Shift+click on the last one to target all the adjustment layer then use menu Layer>Duplicate Layers... and use the pull down menu in the pop-up dialog to choose the other open image document.
You can of course record an action when you add all the adjustment layers then play that action on the other images. Twenty adjustment layer on top of an image seems a bit extreme to me.

Table of contents file not taking book files into account

Hi everyone,
I've used Indesign's book panel to manage the chapters in a book that I've typeset. I set up the table of contents style (in a TOC document which is part of the books panel) and made sure that it used all the book chapters when compiling the table of contents by checking the option in the TOC styles diaglogue box.
For some reason, the table of contents is ignoring all of the styles in the chapter files so it's not including anything in the table of contents other than a few headings that are within the file that contains the table of contents.
I'm noticing that Indesign is creating a whole lot of duplicate files with a string of numbers appended to the file name, eg.

These seem to duplicates of the chapter files but I have no idea why Indesign is creating them so I'm wondering whether I've got some corruption happening and whether this may be causing the problem with the table of contents.
Has anyone had a similar problem and if yes, is there any solution?

I'm having the same problem as gwh. The TOC won't go beyond the first document. All my style names are the same. I don't have style groups.
To make the book I began with one long document that included all the chapters. I broke it into chapters by copying and pasting into new .indd documents (each one created by Save As from the first) and adding all those documents to the book.
Generating the TOC from the one long .indd document works perfectly. I just can't get it to generate from the book (.indb) doc.
I have all the documents in the book open. I have the first one active (in front). I generate the TOC, and I get only the entries for the first document. Here's a screenshot of my TOC box. I must be missing something really simple, huh? (I'm using CS5)

I'm using a PL/SQL Dynamic Content region to select and display my contents using the htp.p procedure. But the problem is the built-in substitution strings in the URL of my content is just displayed as it is. I know that this maybe because htp.p will treat the parameters just like a regular string and the Application Express Engine don't have a chance to parse it. But can somebody show me an alternative solution for this?
Right now, I'm just using a static HTML region as a temporary solution. But I really am curious on how can this be done using PL/SQL dynamic content region. Or what design is best on content management-like application.

I'm not sure I understand but say your database table's column contains 'Hello the session id is &APP_ID. ...'. Using a PL/SQL region you could emit that column thus:for c1 in (select content_col from content_tab) loop

end loop;Splitting up the substitution item name into concatenated strings avoids problems with the Builder doing substitutions when you don't want it to.
