Merging DVD SP projects

Is there a way to import the subtitle track from one DVD SP project to another? or some way to merge projects? thx

You can export item descriptions and bring them into a project, but you will need to re-link jumps etc. (This is for the merge part of projects) On the subtitles, how did you make them, do you mean for the same track?

  • Merging multiple iMovie projects

Is it possible to merge multiple imovie projects into one? Or is it possible to merge them into one continuous playing movie in iDVD?

    Hi:
It's a little tedious but the brute force way is to open the first project and save it under a new name. Then open the second. Then literally copy the timeline from the second to the first. Repeat for the third project and so on. It takes some time as the copying process duplicates all the content into the new combined project. This obviously will take a lot of disk storage space! Maybe someone else knows if there is a way to do this working directly with the project files..
Another alternative is to use Roxio's Toast to burn a DVD by simply adding each of the projects individually into Toast. What you lose here is the ability to have the themes and so forth from iDVD but you will get the projects on a single DVD, and they will play in the order.
I am sure someone else has some better ideas about this. I would be interested too as I am in a process of making several small iMovies and want to combine them into several variations.

  • Merging 2 iMovie project together

    Hi,
I've builted an iMovie project in 2 part to fit it on DVD, because the lenght was too long to fit on one DVD.
Now, I need to make copies of the project to VHS. So I need to merge the 2 projects together to be able to export it to VHS using my camera as a passthrought.
What's the best way of doing so?
    Thanks

Hi Steve - if you are saying that the movie to be cut and pasted is 2.5 hours long, then I'm not surprised that it struggled! I would be starting to feel a bit sorry for the viewers!:-)
Ok - another way is to 'share' the movie to full Quality DV, and then import that into the other project. It WILL take some time!

  • How do you merge 2 iMovie projects?

How do you merge 2 iMovie projects together? I have a 2 yr old iMac with iMovie 2011. Thank-you.

That's an easy solution. However you did not consider the harmful effects of the additional compression. Please consider that the "raw" video is already compressed before it leaves the camera. Then again as it's exported from iMovie the first time. After merging the projects (with your technique) it get compressed a third time. And perhaps a fourth time if the movie is burned onto a DVD.
I'm very familiar with the loss of image and sound quality due to excessive compression, because I produced 43 separate makeup application tutorials for a manufacturer's website. Everything was fine until they decided that they also wanted me to combine all of them onto a DVD. My video was shot at high-def so that wasn't an issue. The issue was how to combine all 43 videos without a substancial loss of image quality?
I tried the obvious method (proposed by elikness) and found that my text graphics (still photos) suffered the worst - literally jagged black text that looked almost blurry. So I replaced all my graphic panels and burned the DVD. My client was satisfied. I was not. God only knows what the 90-minute (combined) DVD will look like after they've paid somebody to make 10,000 copies.
    thank you - robert

  • When I add a quicktime asset directly to my DVD SP project it does not automatically encode to be DVD cmpliant. Says incompatible asset. Any ideas?

You use the term "QuickTime Asset" like it means something.  QuickTime is just a container ... a QuickTime file could be made from any number of codecs, many of which are not compatible with DVD Studio Pro.
What codec is the file you're trying to import?  Have you considered using Compressor to encode it to the proper format?

  • Convert DVD HD Project to DVD SP (clarification)

I am aware that the subject of this post has been addressed elsewhere in the various forums numerous times; for those who are searching for the answer and come upon this post first, here is a summary of my understanding of things to avoid further searching:
In order to burn a DVD SP project, you must create a new project with your project settings set to DVD SP by default. You can not burn from HD to SP, but you can burn from SP to HD. There is no option in DVD Studio Pro to convert your project from HD to SP, so scratch it and start over.
This brings me to my question; is there any way to bring the basic menu/link structure and such from your HD project (which you foolishly created thinking a basic conversion wouldn't be beyond this software suite) into your fresh project. I haven't been able to get two projects open at the same time, copy and paste from one project to another, or anything to help me reference the menu structure to work. (I can look at the produced HD DVD, but, as we all know, it's easy to lose track of links looking at an end product)
So far, DVD SP has been an extremely disappointing program to me; after struggling with it for a great many hours to get features I want implemented (only to find with research later that the implementation of those features is either broken, or missing), I now find I'll have to start the project over from scratch. I certainly hope they include a conversion feature in future releases.. this is a bit ridiculous.
Anyway, I'm quite frustrated, but thanks for any help which anyone may offer.

As an update, I have located the export->'Item Description' feature which exports a plain text description of the DVD project.
    I changed the entry:
    <key>DVDStandardVersion</key>
    <string>HD</string>
    To
    <key>DVDStandardVersion</key>
    <string>SD</string>
.. now I can open this file with DVD Studio Pro, and I have something similar to my project, but in SD. (I expect some things may be broken by the SD/HD conversion, but those should be quickly ironed out.)

  • Why is aperture not importing merged libraries as projects

    Hi Everyone:
I'm trying to move a large library of RAW files to another library on the same machine.  I tried exporting the whole library but there were a lot of corrupted files (or at least they had the yellow triangles on them), and when I selected all and asked it to locate referenced files, it said there were none, even though it had over 1000.
So I decided to export/import piecemeal and do it project by project.  So what I've been doing is exporting a project as a library, switching libraries, and selecting a project to import to and then clicking import.  At first it was working well and importing everything as separate projects, but today I must be doing something wrong or missing a step.
It is now importing the library and dumping it loose in the photos section, and I have to go picking through the photos to find the ones I imported and put them into projects.  This is going to get increasingly more difficult and I really need help... I've been at this now for two days and need to get back out taking pictures...
    Thanks,
    Lisa

    Hi everyone:
Just to add, I already followed these steps and it didn't work...
To merge a project or Aperture library into a project
Control-click a project, then choose Import > Library/Project from the shortcut menu.
In the dialog that appears, select the project or library that you want to merge into the project selected in Projects view, then click Import.
The project or library is merged into the project selected in Projects view. For more information about merging libraries, see Merging Libraries.

  • Is my DVD 9 project too full ?

    Hi all,
I am currently completing a DVD 9 project which after importing all the assets the full project size is 8.52 GB used 16.6 MB free.
The thing is a while ago i have heard that as a rule of thumb there should be at least 4% space left on the disk or the DVD may not work however when i run a check project test i am not served any error messages. is this because Encore has already calculated this 4% into the project?
I would be grateful if someone could offer some advice in this matter as i fear that i will encounter problems when i send the DLTs off for replication.
I hope someone can offer some advice in this matter.
    Thanks in advance.
    Fitz.

If you can get the DLT tape written, you should be okay. You're certainly right on the wire though.
Biggest problem is likely to be the layer break.
Best thing to do is get the project compiled & try writing to a DL disc - if that works, you should be okay with master tapes

  • Can I merge my Imovie project with cutaways to another project?, Can I merge my Imovie project with cutaways to another project?

Can I merge my Imovie project with cutaways to another project?, Can I merge my Imovie project with cutaways to another project?

First, Share your other project. Use SHARE/EXPORT TO QUICKTIME. Choose Movie to QuickTime Movie. Under Options, choose Apple Intermediate Codec for Compression under Video Options. Save this movie where you can find it.
Then use FILE/IMPORT MOVIE to import this movie into your Event. Now you can use it as a Cutaway.

  • How can I merge a few projects (not events)and make them 1 long movie?

I made a whole movie in separated parts- each saved as a project and now i want to merge them. After i combine them into one long project i will need to finalize the edit.
What is the best way to do that??
    now it is:
first part-  saved as project 1
    second part-saved as  project 2
    ...-...etc
I tried to copy all clips and effects from one project and paste them in the next one  but the music timelines get mixed...some of the titles marks disappear and the i movie crashed and quited a few times even though i did it in small portions of about 15 seconds each time ...

Unfortunately no, in order to do this: SMALL ADJUSTMENTS TO BE DONE IN THE SECOND PART (such as changing the lenth or type of a transition- these are changes that are hard to predict before i see all parts of the movie one after the other)
You'll have to work back and forth between the Part 2 original project before it gets exported. iMovie doesn't let you combine projects together in an editable, mix and match kind of way. That's one reason it's so inexpensive as compared to a program like Final Cut Pro X which has some ability to combine projects in an editable format. But it's expensive and has a steep learning curve, most likely not an option for many. So it's an unfortunate limit you have bumped up against.

  • Cannot get simple merged HTML Help project going with context sensitive help

I have built a very simple project in RH9 from scratch, consisting of a main project and a sub-project now after I have modified our large project in changing every hyphens from file and directory names over a couple of days now only to see that context help still doesn't work.
The map IDs are not visible in the main project. To test it in the example, invoke the CSH-Test (context sensitive help test) from the Toolbox, enter !SSL!\Microsoft_HTML_Help\main.chm in the Offline field  and a number 57 in the ID field. In our large project I'm getting nothing (no window pops up). In this example I'm getting this mystical error box, saying HH_HELP_CONTEXT called without a [MAP] section.
    Christoph

    Hi William,
thanks having a look at my problem. I read in another thread today a description which comes close to the problem I'm facing.
Maybe I formed the mini sample not exactly as our problem is situated. (thus the doubled map ids you were claiming).
I will try to explain again: we have a couple of CHMs in separate single help projects. These go into their own TOCs, Index Glossar etc. like in sub1->Einzel. For the merged project we produce a chm that goes into the directory of the master (main) project, like in sub1->Primäres Layout.
Each Topic in the sub project (e.g. sub1->Erstes Thema) has a symbolic link address (e.g. "Linkadresse=det_org_angaben), which is mapped to the MAP ID via the .h file.
This all used to work that way in RH5.
Now it seems that this information between the map ID and the symbolic Linkaddress gets lost with the merge process.
I am not using the same ID (57) twice in my example. The MAP ID in the main project comes from the sub1 project (see the yellow locked MAP ID).
The simplest test is using the CSH-Test in the Toolbox giving the main.chm as the Helpfile to test and enter the 57 as a MAP ID.
The idea behind is to use one CHM later to have to open in the application. The other CHMs of the subprojects only need to be present in the application directory. Then you invoke HtmlHelp(with the MAPID),like I posted in this thread.
The method you are suggesting in mapping the ID to the topic in the main project will not work since the topic is in the CHM of the sub project.
I modified the sample project once again (somehow the baggage files were not showing) to come closer to the constellation we are using in the large project, though I'm getting the "HH_HELP_CONTEXT called without a [MAP] section" error (which does not occur in our large project).

  • Burning DVD from project in iMovie

I am a beginner and have done my first project in iMovie with a size of 11,9 Gb. It is in iMovie just the way I want it with music and effects. I tried to burn it on a 4,7 Gb DVD and thought I could put in a new one when the first was filled up but it didn´t work. Then I tried to copy the project to a 16 Gb USB but it didn´t work either. Error code 0. I have iDVD in my iMac. Why couldnt I copy to the USB and how to do when I have iDVD?

    How long is your movie?
Best way to get movie to iDVD is SHARE/Media Browser in Large Size. Then open Media Browser in iDVD and navigate to your movie. You can drag it into your iDVD project from there.

  • PreE7 Produced DVD with Projection

I am using Premeire Elements 7 to produce a video to DVD/NTSC/Standard format for purposes of playing from a DVD player with Video output to a projector with a 4:3 default aspect ratio (Viewsonic model # PJ501 to be precise).
My tests of the process thus far are give a strange affect to the photos when projected and I'm wondering if this is just an anomaly of the projector or if I need to do something else with my PreE7 settings, or possibly my still photos, before creating my video output.  The strange affect is this, the photos have a vertical, striped affect to them (red and yellow).  This only happens when I display using the projector, if I play to a television or to my computer, the images look fine.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks,

When you use photos in a video, it's always best to deinterlace them.
To do this, right-click on each photo on your timeline and select Field Options and check the Flicker Removal option.
I've done as you indicated and created another test DVD but have the same results; the images show with vertical lines of red and yellow.  I was reading the Help Doc that comes on the CD with PreE7 and the portion that covers deinterlacing and flicker removal mentions that these options fix problems that cause horizontal lines, not the vertical ones I am seeing (I'm even seeing it on the Menu screen which was from one of the Disc Menu scenes that come with PreE7).
I'm thinking that, since my DVD is displaying fine when I send to a TV or to my Computer but shows the vertical lines only when I project the images with the Viewsonic projector, the problem must lie in the projection itself.
If anyone has any experiences with the use of a projector to display their videos and might have any information for me, I'd greatly appreciate it.

  • Any way to have two DVD SP projects open at the same time?

    Hi
Since it is likely that I'm going to re-build all the menues in my PAL DVD in a new NTSC project, I'd like to know if there is any way for me to have two separate DVD Studio Pro projects open at the same time. That way I can easily check and copy location coordinates for the buttons, copy text, etc, etc.
When I open my new project when the old still open, DVD SP just closes the old and opens the new project.
If it was possible, it would make everything much easier for me, since I have 15 menues to re-create
    Thanks!

If you just require a visual reference, you can take screen grabs of your first project and open them in Preview...
Open your project, and press Shiftcommand(apple)4 and the pointer turns into a little cross-hair.... you then click-hold & drag a marquee around the section of the screen you need as reference, then when you release the mouse button a screen grab is taken of that portion you selected.
It will be saved to your desktop as 'Picture 1'
you can repeat this for different sections of the project (picture 2, picture 3 etc), and open them in preview.
Not an ideal solution, but might be of help.

  • Huge DVD-9 project needs two Dual Layer discs - How to build a from single project?

    Hello Encore Pros,
I have a DVD project with about 5 hours of video media and it won’t fit on a single DVD-9.  It has to be built onto TWO Dual Layer DVDs.   I’ve created the project as ONE BIG PROJECT in Encore CS6 (Mac Pro 10.7.5) with lots of menus, buttons, timelines, and media.  Here’s the $20,000 question: how will Encore know to build the project onto two DVD-9 discs?  Can I program it to do this and if so, how?  Or do I need to break the project into TWO SEPARATE PROJECTS (both dual layer) and burn individually?   If so, can I simply duplicate the full project and delete all movies/menus/timelines not needed for each new half?  And if that’s the case, I know there'll be some revising elements like setting a new 1st play on disc 2 and some End Action links, etc., but that I can deal with.  I suppose I’d name the two new dual layer projects xxx_pt1 and xxx_pt2.   On the plus side, the Check Project comes up with no errors, so that’s good so far.  Oh, "the horror....... the horror” to quote “Apocalypse Now”
-- Thanks in advance for help and suggestions.

Bill Hunt is still MIA. See this link for his instructions on doing the sort of process I was describing.
Re: Multiple (different) DVD outputs from a single Encore project
In a similar thread, Hunt refers to a more detailed piece he did on "multi-disc" authoring. But he didn't find the link, and neither have I!
Edit: Not it, but may add something:
