Merging Flash with Animation Presets

Hi there,
I just downloaded After Effects, and though it seems pretty
powerfull, in my opinion is not flexible when it comes to animating
objects within the Timeline like Flash. I would love for Flash 8
Professional, to have all those animating presets within it. What
do you think? I mean, yes we all those powerfull special effects
within After Effects, but I feel that for animation purposes is
lacking......I think Adobe would really do something special, if
those special effects could somehow be built into
Flash.........What are your opinions regarding this?

Hi,
This is a great suggestion. One of the most interesting
features that makes Flash designers use After Effect is the
powerful preset and effects in the great product. You can get it to
your Flash as video, bitmap sequance or even SWF file if you choose
a feature that can be exproted as SWF.
I have staarted learning animation with Flash too, so i may
agree with you regarding the easy use of Flash timeline. But after
i worked with After Effects, I relized that its timeline is easy
too, may be it includes more features than the Flash timeline,
because of the nature of the output of AE.
you have to learn how to deal with the AE timeline with the
AE concept not the Flash concept to not feel strange to it.

  • How to save expression together with animation preset?

    I am trying to understand expressions and animation presets.
    I have one single slider control, which controls the opacity of a layer, where the value is the slider value + slightly changed using an expression.
    I can save the slider control as an animation preset, but the expression gets lost.
    Yes, this is so basic that it can be, this is the way I like to learn. And as far as I know, expressions can be saved together with animation presets. I hope someone can tell me how!

    The reason that the expression is not removed when you delete the slider is that the expression is only reading the slider value, the slider doesn't know that the expression is there. There's no reverse link.
    You can build more professional effects but that involves editing the xml file that tells AE what effects are applied. This still would not generate a reverse link to an expression.
    Enabling or disabling an effect only changes the way things are rendered. If you have keyframes on a Lens Flair Brightness and you disable the effect the Lens Flair will not render but the keyframe values will still be available to an expression. Again, there's no reverse link. Since an expression slider does not make a change in the pixel values of a layer turning the FX switch on or off will have no effect on an expression reading the value.
    The "trick" in creating an Animation Preset that uses expressions and is removed with the "effect" is removed from the Effects Control Window is to only write expressions for properties that are available in the effects used. You could do this by applying the Transform Effect, or the Levels Individual Controls Effect, or the CC Composite Effect to the layer and writing the expression there instead of placing your expression in the Layer's opacity property.     Hi. So I'm following along, and it's been very helpful for a newbie! Your methods are thorough and I'm learning quickly. For some reason though, when I add the "rotate over time" preset, it says the transform effect is missing. Additionally, when I open the project, it says the "glow" effect is missing also. Any ideas?

  • Bridge CC hangs/freezes with AE animation presets.

    Does anyone else have the issue of Bridge CC hanging/freezing when an AE animation preset is selected in Bridge?  This happens whether I Browse Presets from AE or I attempt to navigate to the presets folder directly through Bridge CC.
    I have uninstalled and re-installed both programs, with no success.  I can still apply an animation preset to a layer from the presets panel in AE, but of course there is no preview, so this is a bit frustrating.  Any ideas would be appreciated.

    No experience with AE but if one set up does work and the other not it is likely the problem of that one set up.
    Uninstall and reinstall without using Adobe cleaner tool is rarely solving problems because existing prefs and cache often keeps the same.
    The central cache is by default installed in the user library caches folder. When in real trouble I always manual delete this cache file, together with the Bridge plist file and restart Bridge holdong down option key and reset prefs.
    This provides an almost new install with factory defaults.
    Be aware that per OSX 10.7 the user library is hidden, use menu Go with option to reveal)
    User / library / caches / Adobe/ Bridge CC : inhere a plug in and a folder called cache. Drag both outside the user library (trash or back up)
    User / library / preferences / com.adobe.Bridge6.plist (drag to the trash)
    restart Bridge holding down option and choose refresh prefs, then try again.
    You need to reset your custom settings and sometimes reset the custom workspace and since you dumped the cache it first needs time to recache your content.

  • Troubles importing Flash 10 Animation with 3D Transform

    I am looking for any workaround/experiences for importing a Flash 10 animation with 3D transforms. Currently, doing this will wig out Captivate 4 and break the embedded animation in all sorts of ways. AS3 support in Captivate is turned on and the same animation will load and play correctly if the 3D transform is removed. All other Flash 10/AS3 possibilites work including motiosn graphs and filters.
    I find the 3D transform option of Flash CS4 to be one of the most powerful features ever introduced in Flash and would allow some incredible breakthrough design possibilities for my Captivate projects, if it would just support it! Any experiences with this issue welcomed. A bug report has been submitted also, but looking for a quicker remedy.

    I got this tip from Vikram (Adobe Support)
    1. Open your project having Flash Player 10 animations involving 3D transforms.
    2. Click the Edit menu and select Preferences.
    3. Select "Publish settings" under the "Project" section.
    4. Check "Animations" option under the "Externalize resources" section.
    5. Press OK.
    6. Now click the publish button.
    7. In the publish dialog, select Flash Player 10 from the "Flash Player version:" drop down.
    8. Click publish.
    (F4 preview may not work, so use preview in browser)
    Also, you may need to be wary of embedded scripted symbols as they may loose reference to the parent symbol after being embedded in yoru your CP4 project containing 3D transforms. My advice here is to try to script using as much object oriented js as possible in the main timeframe.
    I am using a combination of localConnect and ExternalInterface functions to control the 3D animation from captivate quiz buttons. This process adds a whole new level of interactivity and visual interest to your captivates!

    nothing to ever "scrap". Someone just today
    asked about text effects and the thread was answered with a
    link to a tool that works with flash (or
    a component or something) - search this forum for today's
    posts.

    Hi, Sometimes users with understanding of what Adobe programs you are using will post. It doesn't happen very often.
    If you had a personal computer and had problems with Flash Player then of course this Forum would be where it would be addressed.
    Flash Player is used with all of the Adobe programs and when those programs are involved, then those Forums relate to Flash Player from those perspectives. Flash Player is not a standalone, that would be the Projector. Neither is Flash Player unrelated to the Adobe programs you use.
    These terms: fast switching the slides, the player crashes in cases, when a progressive videostream is canceled, Tweener, the gui for the volume control before the gui is initialized, so the player try to access a null reference. It is for me impossible to develope content
    told me clearly that your issue involves much more than Flash Player, debug or not.
    If you can see the animation at this site and the correct version of Flash Player is displayed, then Flash Player is Installed correctly and should be working. If not, then since I'm not versed in the programs you are using and possible conflicts, I would not be the one to assist you. So your choice is to wait here on this Forum for someone that can, or take my advice and start a thread on one of the other applicable Forums.
    Also you have a Mac. We have more threads that the Mac users put up than Mac helpers:-)

  • Animation preset--one letter at a time

    I am looking for a text animation preset that shows one letter at a time. I have tried several of the presets and applied a mask, but I am assuming there is an automated way to do this, either with a preset or an expression of some kind.

    "Shows" can be done a thousand different ways but let's just say you're scaling the letter up from 0% to 100%.
    What you want to do is spend about two hours reading about and then playing with text animators. You will simply apply your animation choices to a letter and use the Selector to move a set of frames along your text object. The frames will show you which letters are getting your animation settings. You will keyframe the selector position so it moves along your text object.
    The sections in the manual only hint at the levels of complexity and variety.. you will also want to use the online help system for the more explicit information.
    Warning: The whole process is quite confusing and frustrating for your first many efforts. But eventually you will see how cool the whole text animation systems are.

  • Stop and Play All Child MovieClips in Flash with Actionscript 3.0

    I am stuck with the ActionScript here. I have a very complex animated flash movie for eLearning. These contain around 10 to 15 frames. In each frame I am having multiple movie clip symbols. The animation has been created using a blend of scripting and also normal flash animation.
    Now I want to create pause and play functionality for the entire movie. I was able to create the pause function but when i try to play the movie it behaves very strange.

    This movie is an animated movie from the start to end. I mean to say that though it stops at certain keyframes in the timeline it stops for only a certain time and then moves on to the next animation sequence.
    Its not an application where the user can interact.
    On clicking the play button i want the movie to play normally as it was playing before. If the user has not clicked on the pause button it would anyhow play from start to finish.
    Is there anyway where i could send in the fla file?

  • Applying Animation Presets from Adobe Bridge?

    I haven't used this feature in a long time, so I don't know if this is a configuration problem on my PC or something I am doing wrong. In the flyout menu of the Effects and Presets panel, selecting ""Browse Presets" brings up Adobe Bridge. If I double click on a preset, say the apparition background, AE shows:
    After Effects error: Can't import file "Apparition.ffx": unsupported filetype or extension. (0::1)
    However, if I try the same thing using the Animation menu->Apply Animation Preset->Open->....Apparition.ffx, it works fine.
    AE Version: 13.1.1.3
    Bridge Version: 6.1.0.116 x64
    Windows 8.1

    There's an issue with the installers for that version. The wrong script is involved. I don't have the link to the page explaining it, but if you do a search through these forums for other people with the issue, I'm sure you can find it.
    Until it gets fixed in an update, don't use Bridge to apply animation presets - just use the effects and presets panel in AE or the menu option as you're already doing.

  • CS5 Error with Animation Output

    Running CS5 on a Mac 10.6.4
    Every time I render, it gives the following error message:
    An output module failed. The file may be damaged or corrupted. (-1610153464)
    I've tested the files on a different machine and they open and render out fine.
    I did some searches and for some it was the dreaded Optical Flares plugin from Video CoPilot causing this same problem.
    I'm having these issues and I don't have any plugins installed.
    Re-Installed everything 3 times, trashed preferences, removed plugins from the Application support and still no luck.
    The only thing that works for me is outputting to a PNG or JPEG sequence.
    If I try to render using the Animation preset, It gives the error message.
    I also have been getting a weird "MooV" error message when I try to import certain types of quicktime files. Not all just a few random ones.
    All of this leads me to believe it may be an issue with 32 bit Quicktime.
    Any suggests on how I can get the Animation preset working again?

    Sure, I had the exact problem posted at the top of this thread. Spent two days reading all the posts regarding anything that had to do with this Output Module error. I finally came upon a post of someone who was having a similar issue as I with the hang at start up. However, the post was replied to by a guy who said "Repeat the hang with only AE running,  then go to the Activity Monitor and select the QT32 Server process.   Then press the "Sample Process" button at the top of the window...It looks like both of you are having a similar problem with a third party AVI codec.  Please remove or uninstall any third party AVI codecs such as DivX,  XVid, etc. from your system and try AE again."
    "You can also temporarily disable these components by closing any QT related apps and then dragging components out of the Library/QuickTime folder on your boot drive.   If that works, try adding them back one by one until it fails again.  That is the problem codec."
    So I removed AviImporter.component from Library/Quicktime on the boot drive and these two problems were solved.

  • Relative positioning animation preset?

    Hello friends,
    I am familiar with saving an animation preset with all the attributes... but how do I apply an animation/positioning preset, which applys to layers relatively to their original position?
    The Problem: when I save an animation preset, it saves the start position and hard sets the layer to that exact position when I apply the preset.
    My wish: I want to relatively apply positioning effects.
    Any ideas? I would appreciate every help, thank you!

    Hello Rick, that is a great workaround, I will try this. I see a little problem with objects that "lean" out of the canvas. If I then wrap them in a null and animate the null I would only move the cropped objects ;-)

  • Merge layers with their filters?!

    Hey Good day,
    Is there any method in Flash cs6, we could merge layers with filters?!
    I have assigned some filters (Drop Shadow / Glow/etc.) to several  MovieClips in my flash design.
    Now if I select the "Direct/Cpu" render mode, the speed will dramatically slow down.
    If I select the "GPU" render mode, the speed is perfect but I lose all effects (shadows, glows, etc.)
    What is the best solution in this case?
    In Adobe Photoshop there is an option (Rasterize Layer Styles) to merge layers with all styles.
    Is there any similar option in Adobe Flash to merge movie-clips with filters??

    you can use a bitmapdata object to create a bitmap of your untransformed movieclip (using the draw method) and use applyfilter method to apply a filter to your bitmapdata object.

  • Help, I can't open up an adobe file that has been sent to me by my Professor.

    I am taking an on line class at the University of Louisville and my professor has sent her files in adobe.  I have never used adobe and I have downloaded the program but I still can't get the file to open, could someone please help me?
