Merging large camera rolls in photo stream for iCloud merge/backup/share

I've got some pretty large camera rolls on my iPhone, never having realized I wasn't "synching" them to my iPad. Well, I looked at them and saw some large ones, as well as 1.000 photos in my iPhone my photo stream.  I'd like iCloud to keep them sync he'd between the two, but can I do that? If I can, how do I take all the camera rolls and all those photos and get them into the my photo stream? There didn't seem to be a way to copy them, that I could see on my iPhone.
is it because the my photo stream size limit is 1,000?
and if not! how do I mass copy all those pics into the my photo stream?
and once I synch those, had do I synch them with the same iCloud account on my MacBook? That also seems like a problem, although Id ultimately like them there, because the faces, events, etc stuff in iPhoto seems really well done, plus, I've got the largest disk by far in my MacBook compared to the RAM in my iPhone & iPad.
any help would be really appreciated!
Thanks!

Hi Mike,
Something else you may want to set up. If you have the same iCloud account set up on the Mac and you have Photo Stream turned on in iCloud, then in iPhoto, under Preferences>Photo Stream, you can turn on the option to automatically import your Photo Stream into iPhoto. That way, you have a backup of your Photo Stream that is saved in iPhoto Events every Month:
I have mine set up to do this, and I find it to be a great backup to my regular imports. I leave my Photo Stream imports out there as they are generated in Events (June 2013 Photo Stream, July 2013 Photo Stream, etc.). I also then import my Camera Roll every month or so, and import it into an Album that I label as desired. Photo Stream, of course, only has photos, no videos, so importing your Camera Roll is critical if you take videos.
Post back after you have set things up if you have any questions!
Cheers,
GB

  • TS3989 how do I get photos from my "camera roll" to photo stream and icloud?

I just set up my i cloud account and can not get my photos over to my pc

This works only for new photos, but you could also create a shared photo stream to share older pictures with someone else. (This shared photo streams will be also displayed on your other iOS devices or on a Mac using iPhoto/Aperture and should also work on a PC)

  • How do I get pic from camera roll to photo stream

How I can move pic from camerea roll to photo stream for iCloud to pick up?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Only photos taken after enabling PhotoStream will be added.
The best way is probably to do it in iPhoto when you sync your pictures, if you are really desperate to do it on the phone I guess you could take a screenshot.

  • How can I put my icloud photos to camera roll or photo stream?

I got a nee iphone, i backed up everything and restored it into mu new iphone, but the pictures didn't restore so i did it manually but now on my phone i got different albums icloud photo stream and camera roll. How can i put the icloud picture into camera roll or photo stream. Any ideas?? On my old iphone ive deleted everything.

    Hello Ozzie94,
Thanks for the additional information. The camera roll is designed for photos taken on your device, or saved images from Mail and other applications. Photos synced from a computer are organized into their own album(s):

    - Camera Roll—photos and videos you took on iPhone, or saved from an email, text message, webpage, or screenshot
    - Shared photos and videos—Photos and videos that you’ve shared with iCloud Photo Sharing or that others have shared with you (see iCloud Photo Sharing)
    - Photos and videos synced from your computer (see Sync with iTunes)

  • I upgraded to IOS8 and my camera roll and photo stream are gone

I upgraded to IOS8 and my camera roll and photo stream disappeared. I have 7500 pictures in my camera roll... I see some of them sorted into "collections"... this is not how I would ever sort or collect my photos.. work documents, mixed with family photos, mixed with selfies my son took with the dog? please please please tell me there is a way to get my old camera roll back. This update is a disaster for iPhone photo users... Is photo stream gone as well?

This has been asked and answered DOZENS of times on here since last week.  Please search the forum and you will definitely find your answer.

My phone recently fell In water and won't turn on I had my ICloud on.Will my pictures in came roll and photo stream come back?

Photos in the camera roll are included in your backup and should be recovered by restoring the backup to a replacement phone.  Photo stream photos remain in iCloud for 30 days.  When you reconnect to photo stream you will get back any photo stream photos from the last 30 days.

  • Since iso8.2 update camera roll and photo stream have disappeared from my iPad

Since the ISO8.2 update the camera roll and photo stream have disappeared from my photos app on my iPad 2 anyone else suffered the same problem and how do I get them back?

    Hey carolfromdaventry,
Thanks for the question. The following resource provides some great information any questions you might have about Photos after updating to iOS 8:
Get help finding your Photos in iOS 8
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT6464
Where can I find the Camera Roll?
The Photos app in iOS 8 doesn't separate photos and videos based on how they were added to your device. Instead of a Camera Roll, your photos and videos (even ones that you didn't take with or save to your device) are organized by date in Photos.
Where can I find the My Photo Stream album?
In iOS 8, there's no longer a separate My Photo Stream album. Instead, photos that were in the My Photo Stream album are now in the Recently Added album.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • What happened to camera roll and photo stream with newest IOS upgrade?

I have upgraded my iPad 3 to the newest IOS release, but not my iPhone so far.  I noticed that Camera Roll and Photo Stream are still available on my iPhone but not on the iPad.  What happened?

the he firet versions of iOS 8 replaced the PhotoStream and Camera Roll albums with the Recently Added album. The Recently Added album contains photos for thirty days then moves them to the Photo Collections area. This definitely caught many people by surprise. Apple announced on October 16th that the next update of iOS 8 which will be 8.1 will bring back the Camera Roll. 8.1 is scheduled to be available October 20 according to Apple.

  • Move photo's from camera roll to photo stream

I am confused. I have a number of photo's in Camera Roll. They apparantly do not back up to iCloud as part of Photo Stream. Is there a way to move them from Camera Roll to Photo Stream so they will be available to my other devices, or do I have to manually copy them to my desktop to make them available? If the latter, what is the best process for this?

Only photos taken on your phone after turning on Photo Stream are uploaded.  It will not transfer photos that were in Camera Roll before turning it on.  If you want full resolution pictures to be available for your old photos, import them to your computer and put them in your upload folder (assuming your computer has iCloud an Photo Stream enabled).  Also, Photo Stream isn't a backup service; photos are only kept there for 30 days allowing your enough time to download them to your other devices.
I have images/videos which I saved from Messages. Even with Photo Stream enabled, it does not appear possible to move anything from Camera Roll. Once there, it appears to be stuck there.

Work around: first view the pic on your camera roll, then snapshot it by using home and sleep button at same time. Your pic is at photo stream now
Two problems with that are that the images are not captured at their original resolution. Also, this does absolutely no good for videos which are saved from Messsages.

  • How do I transfer photos from 'camera roll' to 'photo stream' so that they sync w/ my PC?

I want to take pics w/ the phone and then view them on my PC. I can't seem to get the photos and video to move from 'camera roll' to 'photo stream' so that I can work with them on my PC. I can move pics on my PC into the photostream upload folder and those appear quicklly on my phone in the photo stream album.

If you connect the phone to the computer you should be able to transfer photos from your camera roll.
How do you do that? I've tried through iPhoto and iTunes and in neither case are the images/videos from the Camera Roll accessable. Images from Photo Stream are, but not Camera Roll. And since images/videos saved from Messages end up in Camera Roll, I can't figure out how to get them either into Photo Stream or transfered to my computer.

  • How do I copy photo from camera roll to photo stream?

I've install IOS 5 and set up iCloud.  I now have a Photo Stream album on the phone.  How do I copy a photo from Camera Roll to Photo Stream album?

I copied some photos to the Photo Stream / Uploads folder on my PC and they did go to my iPhone.  However, they also came back to the Photo Stream / My Photo Stream folder.  So now I have two copies of the photos.  Do I have to keep two copies of each photo on every device?  That doesn't seem too smart.
I was also trying to copy a photo into the Photo Stream album on the iPhone and, somehow, that photo did get back to my PC.  However, I have no idea how it happened?  Any help there, Apple?

  • Can't find my camera roll (only photo stream) pictures in iCloud.  Should there be an icon there?  Do I need to install another icon?

Can't find my camera roll (only photo stream) pictures in iCloud.  Should there be an icon there?  Do I need to install another icon?

I'm not totally sure I understand what you are asking or expecting to see.
You will only find your Photo Stream photos in iCloud, not the camera roll photos. What I mean is that any older photos that you have in the camera roll will not appear in the photo stream. Only photos that you have taken with the iPad, after you turned photo stream on, appear in the photo stream.
You can create a shared photo stream album with older camera roll photos, but the camera roll itself is not in iCloud.com.
Where are you looking in iCloud to see these photos?

Which can I delete...camera roll or photo stream?

    Hello cleofigaro
You can delete from both places if you want. All you would need to do is view the photo that you do not want and then tap the trashcan icon in the lower right hand corner. If you want to do more photos at once, when looking a multiple photos tap the Select button in the upper right hand corner and then tap the photos and videos that you want deleted and then hit the trashcan to remove them
