Merging pdfs with ability to edit a form

When I merge two pdfs in Acrobat 8 then reopen them in Reader (which is the only software my client has to view/edit pdfs) I can no longer save the data typed into the forms--I can print the document as is with the information, but the pdf form needs to be filled out by a couple people. Does anyone know of a way I can merge two pdfs and still retain the ability to edit the form?

Can't save edits. I was hoping I wouldn't have to go back in to enable reader rights (it's a client who would actually have to do it), but that's okay. Thanks for your help.

Save Forms Fields PDF with information un-editable

We created a simple 5 form field PDF invoice for a client to edit and send out to customers. They want to be able to edit the fields, but then save the resulting PDF with the input information to be un-editable but the end customer they are sending the invoice to. Is this possible?

Will the client be using Acrobat or just Reader? If just Reader, you can lock the fields after they are filled-in by making them read-only, which will require a script. You should also set the default value of each field to the current value of the field, which prevents clearing the form if the user resets the form. There's an older topic from several months ago that discusses this in more detail. If you can't find it, post again and I'll try.
If they will be using Acrobat, a better approach is to flatten the form fields, which converts the field apperances to regular page contents, removing the form fields in the process. You can flatten fields with Acrobat using JavaScript, PDF Optimizer, or Preflight. Post again if you need help with this.

Merging pdfs with internal links

I have merged 2 pdfs with internal links. After they were merged the bookmarks work but the links in the text do not. Any help on this?

Merging PDF with Mac OS x

I'm trying to merge PDF's to make a single one using Acrobat x pro. During the process it keeps getting stuck on the "checking for security settings" part. There aren't any passwords required for any of the files but it still won't go past that step. Has anyone dealt with this before?

I am not sure what is causing the inconsistency in selected pages not printing, but I'd be happy to help.
Let's reset the printing system, repair disk permissions, re-add the printer using the right driver, and try to scan again.
Reset Printing System
Click the Apple icon (   ), and then click System Preferences.
In the Hardware section, click Print & Fax/Scan. The Print & Fax/Scan dialog box opens.
Right-click (or  Ctrl  +click) in the left panel, and then click Reset printing system…
Click OK to confirm the reset.
Type the correct Name and Password.
Click OK to reset the printing system. The Print & Fax dialog box shows no printer selected
Note: This will remove all printers in the print and Fax/Scan, any printer removed can be re-added later by clicking the plus (+) symbol.
Repair Disk Permissions
On the Dock, click Applications, and then click Utilities.
Double-click Disk Utility.
Highlight your hard drive/partition on the left (by default this is "Macintosh HD").
Click the Repair Disk Permissions button at the bottom of the window.
Once the repair is complete, restart the computer and add the printer back.
When you add the printer, please ensure you are using the HP driver.
Select Add other Printer or Scanner
Select the printer you are adding and next to 'Use' you can select the printer driver
I look forward to hearing from you. If the issue remains unresolved, I will post instructions to completely scrub the HP software from the computer and start fresh.

Ability to edit a form created in Forms Central

When I open a form created in forms central in acrobat pro XI, how can I get permission to add a watermark? The system says I do not have permission to make the change. That makes sense, but can I save it in Forms Central with a password that would allow me to further edit it is Acrobat Pro XI? Is there an alternative solution?

Merged pdf with "extend features in adobe reader" rights

Hi all,
I would like to merge a pdf file into my basic pdf form with "extend features in adobe reader" rights but I would like to keep my basic form without those rights.
My problem is that when I try to open my basic form and link to my merged attachement file, the merged file becomes not modifiable even with "extend features in adobe reader" rights turned on.
Any suggestion to solve my problem?

XML Forms editing/showing with 2 different edit/show forms

does anybody know how to set xml forms to achieve the possibility to edit one created news with 2 different forms, based for example on the layout set used?

Hi Marco,
If I understood your problem you need that a xml file to be read by another form.
There is a property called: resouce type (metadata, belong to system).
When you save your xml file (from form) this property is setted by the system. Using this value the system knows how to open this file.
If you need to pass this information (xml file)among differents forms, in your forms you can add a combo box in which you set up this property. When you change this value of this property (name of resource type the other form)you carry out that this xml file to be read for other form.
The truth is different forms, use differents resource type, therefore these forms can not,simultaneously,read the same xml file.
Also, if you create your own layout set, within collection renederer you can filter by resource type.

Can you print to PDF with Adobe Digital Editions?

I have Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.0 on a PC I use at school. I am able to print documents to Adobe PDF and create them into a PDF by choosing Adobe PDF instead of a printer.
I have purchased an eBook that opens in Adobe Digital Editions. The book allows unlimited printing.
Is it possible to print parts of the book to PDF and create a PDF instead of printing the pages out onto paper?

No, this is expressly disallowed. If you think about it, that would allow you to circumvent the DRM protection and the publishers therefore forbid this.

Networking to a music libraby with ability to edit playlists

hello all. i have been able to get my network set up to where i can stream playlists from my main computer with the large hard drive and all the music on it, works great. what i cannot figure out is how my wife can go in on her older laptop with practically no hard drive space on it, edit her playlist that is stored on my office computer and then sync her ipod using the office computer.
to reiterate, she will really just be editing the playlist using the laptop. no music is stored on there and she won't be synchronizing with it. she will however need to see all the songs on the shared network and be able to use them to build her playlist. is this possible and if so how would we do that?

Edit > Preferences > Advanced > General has the location of the iTunes music folder. That is where ripped CDs will go.
The My Documents\My Music\ folder is a special windows folder. If you want to move that, it might be easiest for you to use TweakUI, google for it.
I don't know about the folder view.

One more question is I want the form page to show up right next to the ending or in the middle of the word doc . How to manange the placement of the sections?

1) The option of creating the whole thing as a LiveCycle form means that you need to convert the Word document using LiveCycle Designer. The import utility won't preserve the fidelity of the Word document the way printing to the PDF print driver does. It will likely require a fair bit of tweaking in Designer to get it looking like you want. You will likely get frustrated, since Designer is not a word processor.
2) You can create PDF forms in Acrobat without launching LiveCycle Designer. While they look the same to a user as forms created with LiveCycle Designer, behind the scenes they are very different. When you create a form in Acrobat you overlay fields on top of an existing PDF document that you had previously created using the PDF print driver. There is an extensive scripting model for these "Acroforms". The technology pre-dates LiveCycle yet Adobe continues to improve the two forms models in parallel. In Acrobat, open a PDF and select tools-->forms-->show forms toolbar.
3) I recommend this option if it's feasible. I don't know what you mean by "doesn't show up in a flow". If you're going to use the form in Acrobat 7, then save it as Acrobat 7 compatible in LiveCycle Designer. This is one of the options in the Save As dialog of LiveCycle Designer.

Merging a PDF with a Form

I have a form that was created in Adobe Live Design that I would like to add the the end of an existing PDF. I would like to think that you can add a fillable form to a regular PDF, but it doesn't seem to be allowing me to do so becuase it's in an XML format. Is there a way around this?

You will likely have to do the combination in Designer or possibly use portfolios. You can not edit Designer forms in Acrobat. The alternative would have been to create the form in Acrobat and not Designer.

Need Merging PDF forms in Android Tablet (with a twist!)

Hi guys I was wondering if there is anyway to Merge PDF documents in a Android app and keep the repeating information in forms intact. Let me explain. I have a regular form which cilents fill out but some times another form needs to be filled out also which have the repeating fields like name, date of birth, etc. I know that it is possible to do it in in Acrobat X Pro where you combine two PDF documents and as long as the form field is the same name or copied and pasted in the two seperate PDFs , information repeats itself automatically. However I was wondering if there is a way to do this on an android tablet (Motorola Xoom for me). I have tried apps that merge 2 seperate documents however the information from those that would normally repeat in Acrobat X on a regular computer does not do so in PDF merging apps I tried. I normally use qPDF and ezpdfreader but they don't seem to have a merging of two documents option (Or i don't know/can't find one). So any help? Any useful app I don't know about that can some my dilemia? Thanks ahead !

i know this is rather late, but based on what I've read online, it seems your issue is common among pdf form apps on the Android. From what i hear, qPDF Notes works well, but doesn't allow calculations. My guess is that the app developer hasn't loaded/programmed the necessary scripts in order to achieve calculations.
