Merging Progressive Download Files?

I'm looking to combine multiple progressive download files into one. What is the best way to do this?

and is it possible/doable to, for ex, at 20 seconds in to press a key and jump to another video at, for ex, 30 seconds in that clip?
i know how (or used to) to do it with simple clips, just dont know how harder it gets with external videos (with progressive download each time theyre called in).
the idea is to do something like honda's press r video (2 story lines, switch between them when you press "r"), but using about 6 videos, jumping between them at the press of a key.

  • Progressive download of SWF file - possible?

    With FLV files, it is possible to have progressive downloads.
    In other words, while a part of the video is playing, the rest of
    it is downloading.
    I want to have SWF files that contain frame based animations.
    Does Flash work the same way for SWF files also? In other words, is
    it possible to play part of SWF file's frames, while the rest of it
    is downloading, or does it need to be fully downloaded first and
    only then start to play.
    Thanks for your help in advance!

    > I want to have SWF files that contain frame based

    Yes, it works the same. Loading from the first frame to last
    in the order they come.
    But, take note, if you place animation inside a movie clip
    and that clip is on frame
    (example) 10, it will need to stop on that frame and load the
    entire movie clip to
    progress to the frame 11. So the streaming and progressive
    loading happens only if your
    content is spread across main timeline.

  • Just downloaded Firefox 5.0. Now, whenever I try to download a file, the Download Window opens, I see the progress of the file downloading, but then it disappears. The Downloads Window is blank. I can't find the downloaded file anywhere on my computer.

    I cleared the list of downloaded files in the Download Window. Now the window is blank, even though I have downloaded several files.

    You can check the History settings in :

  • What is the difference between SWF and F4V in the context of Streaming or progressive Download?

    Hello everybody,
    I am absolutely a beginner in working with Captivate and furthermore my technological know how is not that good.
    So, I have problems to understand if the export formats SWF and F4V are both capable to be published in the Internet as streaming video and as progressive Download? Well so, I do not really understand the difference between streaming and progessive download either?
    Furthermore I was asking myself if this issue depends on how I imported flash videos (there are these two options) in my Captivate project during the production phase?
    I would be very thankful for some helping information!
    Greetings,
    Mareike the beginner

    Welcome to our community
    I'm not certain I fully understand the differences myself, but will toss out what I believe to be true about the formats. Hopefully, if I'm incorrect in my bellief, someone with more definitive knowledge will chime in.
    It was explained to me a couple of years back and is my understanding that "streaming" only applies to a video based format such as F4V, FLV and it doesn't apply to SWF. With SWF, you may specify a preload value. So when the SWF transmits from the web server to the PC, a certain percentage has to be received before play begins. But that's not streaming. It's preloading.
    For streaming to occur, the web server establishes a communication channel between the server and the destination PC. This channel is monitored to see what speed is in use. Only enough information is then transmitted to be comfortable at that speed. If the speed improves during the connection, the server serves data at a faster rate. If the connection degrades, the information transmitted is also scaled back so as to accommodate the lower speed.
    With SWF, after it has all been downloaded, a savvy user is able to poke around in their temporary internet files and save the SWF for play later. With streaming, this isn't possible because as the stream is viewed, it evaporates from memory.
    Seriously hoping others will chime in here to confirm or deny this.
    Cheers... Rick

  • How do I merge 2 pdf files into one file?

    How do I merge 2 pdf files into one file?

    I use PrimoPDF (free download) to create pdf files. To merge two docs/pdfs/etc., print the first to a new pdf using Primo. Close it, then print the second and save it to the same new pdf. Primo gives you the option to 'append' or 'overwrite' the original file. By using 'append', you are just adding it to the back of the existing file. You can do this repeatedly to resort or combine existing pages into a new pdf.
    Also, I'm using Adobe Reader X.

  • Download file from AL11 into CSV to load MD into BPC

    Hi All
    I have an issue in downloading file from AL11 which is in the form of CSV.
    1) I have exported the masterdata for Costcenter using a Open hub.
    2) The file is residing at the app server AL11 in the form of CSV.
    3) I want to down load the file into CSV and upload that file into BPC NW for my costcenter diemension.
    When i am downloading the file from AL11 , the total records are merged into one row, i cannot download same as it is available in AL11.
    I have followed the HOW TO GUIED : HOW TO AUTOMATE MD LOADING IN BPC nw.
    I m unable to get the file properly on to my PC.
    could you please help me .
    AK

    You should open your file in AL11, then clicking 'List' then 'Save' you'll be able to download your file. There will be some header lines indeed.
    You'd better use an open hub with your local client as destination if you need the file.

  • How to update bookmarks when merging two PDF files?

    We have a company catalog that gets generated once a night.  It's three step process:
         Step 1)  A raw XML file gets generated from our main ERP software (Microsoft Dynamics).
         Step 2)  Then that raw XML file is ran against a stylesheet with XEP to produce a nice professional looking catalog.
         Step 3)  And the third step is a script that merges the front and back covers with the main catalog produced in step 2.  Each cover is two pages (front and back).
    My problem is when step 3 runs it produces a final catalog but all the bookmarks are off by 2 pages because the front cover adds two pages in the very beginning.  This post may be premature because up until now I've been merging the PDF pages with a program called "GhostScript" and it allows me to merge them via line command.  I'm just now trying out AcroExch.App COM Object for VBScript so I'll see if it works but wanted to fire this out for help to see if anyone has encountered this or can confirm if Adobe automatically updates them for you?  When I "Merge" the PDF files through Acrobat Pro they get updated automatically, so hopefully it will work the same way with AcroExch.App Object.   Thanks guy!

    I think you might be misunderstanding what I'm saying... we are not performing tasks for non-licensed individuals.  We purchased a copy of Adobe Acrobat Standard so we could create a PDF of our catalog.  That catalog we then put on our website and let people download it.  Since our products change all the time, we generate a new catalog every night.  The term "server" is just a place where a script runs, I could have it run on my desktop computer if that's really an issue but I think we're talking semantics.  Acrobat is not what produces the main catalog PDF, that is done through XEP when it runs through the raw XML produced by our ERP software every night.  The only thing we want Acrobat to do is an automated process to merge 3 PDF files together:  Front Cover, Main Catalog and Back Cover.  That's it.   Are you saying that is against the EULA of Adobe for us to do that?
    Now for the bookmark problem, what do you recommend I do then?  When I merge all three of those PDF files in Acrobat Standard manually it works perfect.  All I'm trying to do is automate that process once every night.  I know how to automate with Acrobat, I just can't figure out how to fix the bookmark problem?

  • FLV Progressive Download SeekNavCue

    Hello! I have been working on this issue for a couple days
    now and cannot seem to find the resolution. I have a flash movie
    that includes three FLV files that are progressively downloaded. I
    have no problems playing them, but when I get to a certain point in
    one, I want to switch to the other, but start the second FLV at a
    certain cue point. The test works when I play from my hard drive,
    but Since the files are progressive download, they don't jump to
    the correct cue point when viewed online. Any suggestions on what I
    should try next? My code for the FLV switch is below:
    This is on the first frame (checks to see if the root var is
    set to 1, if not then it should jump to a specific point in the
    FLV):
    import mx.video.FLVPlayback;
    var pam_vid:FLVPlayback;
    if (_root.link == 1) {
    pam_vid.play();
    if (_root.link == 2) {
    pam_vid.seekToNavCuePoint(repeatStory);
    pam_vid.play();
    This script is put on the last frame (detects when the video
    file is done playing, then jumps to frame 1 and checks the root
    var):
    import mx.video.FLVPlayback;
    stop();
    var listenerObject:Object = new Object();
    pam_back.addEventListener("cuePoint",listenerObject);
    listenerObject.cuePoint = function(infoObject:Object):Void {
    if(infoObject.info.name == "cue2"){
    trace("cue2");
    _root.link = 2;
    gotoAndPlay(1);
    thanks,
    Christy

    It's a snap with Flash 8 Pro. You just attach a skin to the
    FLV with all the components (such as volume, mute, play, and pause)
    and your good to go. Not sure how it works with earlier versions of
    Flash.

  • How to Load Progressive-Download Video just when I press Play?

    I have set the Progressive-Download video instead of Streaming-Video (because my webserver provider "aruba.it" doesn't offer
    streaming videos), in Flash CS4 Professional, and exported to Dreamweaver CS4.
    I have also inserted the HTML code in Dreamweaver CS4 to enable FullScreen Playback of Flash .flv Videos.
    Now I have a problem:
    - When the webpage loads into Internet Explorer 7, it take much time to load all the videos at same time!
    Thus I want this:
    - I want that the videos start to load just when I press the Play button, individually, not at same time.
    - I don't not want that start the load immediately when the webpage opens in IE7.
    - I want that the videos start to load content in the same manner of YouTube videos, just when I press play.
    How can I do?
    What is the HTML code that I should insert into DreamweaverCS4?
    I have seen this help page:
    http://www.adobe.com/livedocs/flash/9.0/ActionScriptLangRefV3/fl/video/FLVPlayback.html#lo ad()
    At Chapter "Public Methods" I have seen this "load" function:
    "Begins loading the FLV file and provides a shortcut for setting the autoPlay property to false and setting the source, totalTime, and isLive properties, if given..."
    Can be useful this function?
    Horsepower0171.

    Excuse me, I am a beginner user of FlashCS4.
    OK!
    StepByStep:
    My site is http://www.cavallodario.it. Please see the third top section called "Sezione 3D">Maya>the last bottom video on the page is published as Streming video (I think)...
    There, are all the videos.
    I have understood that YouTube video is http streaming.
    Instead, in FlashProCS4, I have seen a second Option after ImportVideo Menu (is Flash Media Server streaming?):
    1) "Sul Computer" (on the Desktop, local); NOT CHECKED
    2) "Già distribuito su un server Web, Flash Video Streaming Service o Flash Media Server"; CHECKED and selected the URL: http://www.cavallodario.it/filmati_Maya/flv/Wagon_01_PAL_Letterbox.flv
    > Next > SkinBar with Fullscreen Button (called "SkinUnderPlayStopSeekFullVol.swf") > Next > End.
    But I have a doubt if this is a streaming function:
    -After published the webpage via FTP with Dreamweaver, in IE7 browser the loading progress bar appears immediately, and loads the video when the webpage appears, not when I press Play Button!
    Why this?
    How I can do to load the video just when I press the Play button?
    - I have seen the "NetConnection / NetStream" classes in the FlashCS4 Help, but I am a confused beginner user and I don't want write an ActionScript code to build a custom navigation bar.
    Please response me!
    Thanks!

  • No progressive download for H.264?

    I was encoding a 6 minute video for web delivery in H.264 and it appeared that there is no provision for encoding for Fast Start or other setting to allow progressive download.  The 6 minute video compressed in H.264 to about 30MB and was only downloadable off our web host as a full download. This required about 20-25 seconds on cable modem.  Not a satisfactory result!
    Does anyone know how to set for progressive download?   I had the same experience when encoding into the variations in QuickTime.
    This is crazy. If this is not currently possible, does anyone know if Adobe is taking steps to remedy?  Is this remedied in CS4?  I have heard reports of excessive crashing in Premiere CS4 so I have been reluctant to upgrade.
    Regards.
    Jeff

    For a meaningful comparison, would you not have to view the same video,
    encoded at the same bit rate for each format and in the same frame size and
    frame rate?
    I am not the expert here, but it seems to me that this condition would
    have to be met to farily compare. Easily done of course if you provide your own
    video for comparison, and that is exactly what I am trying to do.  Can QT
    Pro output an H.264 in MPEG-4 as well as QT wrappers?
    I am going to experiment with both formats as well as Real Media and
    Windows Media at similar settings.  I do not have a program to simply  encode
    swf's without taking a few extra steps. It is cumbersome. To my  knowledge,
    flv's need to be embedded into a web page or otherwise incorporated  into a swf
    to be widely viewable.  While I have a few players which can  play flv's
    directly, these are not as widespread as QuickTime or Real  Player.  Not sure,
    but I think that Window's Media Player can play  QuickTime files.  I do not
    try this too much so I am not positive.
    Thanks for the help and best wishes.  I will probably bite the bullet  for
    QT Pro in the next day or so. I think it is only around $30.

    I'm loading video content paths from an external XML file into the FLVPlayback component. The issue I'm having is that the progressive download action is so inconsistent, sometimes it plays the video right away as the video is playing, and sometimes it does not play the video at all until the entire video is completely loaded. I would like to have the video play right away as the video is downloaded. I'm banging my head against the wall on this one. Any ideas?

  • Progressive download doesn't display

    I'm attempting to add video to our site using flv files
    created in Premiere Pro and creating the swf files in Flash. The
    video is intended to popup in a new window. Everything works
    wonderfully inside Flash and in my browser, but when I move it to
    the server, it doesn't work. When the button is clicked, the popup
    opens and the file name and address displays correctly, however,
    the window remains white. When I right-click on the window, I can
    see the Flash settings.
    I verified with our web administrator that flv is a
    registered file type. I read about Enabling the FLV MIME. Is that
    the same thing as "registering flv"? Any ideas what else could be
    my problem?
    Thanks.

    I figured out my problem by posted in the DW forums. All of
    my paths were correct between the HTML, SWF's, FLV's, and the
    JavaScript. So, for those of you experiencing the same thing:
    End's up it was the MIME types on my host. The host computer
    didn't know how to handle FLV files, just like sometimes on a local
    desktop you have to sometimes associate certain file types with
    certain programs. It has something to do with the HTML header. All
    I had to do was go to my host settings through their website and
    add the MIME FLV type.
    Responding to the last post:
    1. You actually want to save your video out from an AVI
    straight to FLV, not mp4 if you are planning on having people view
    it through a Flash player. Mp4's have some compression so you don't
    want to add another compression on top of that once you change it
    to FLV. You can even save an FLV file directly out of Premiere
    rather than going the AVI to Sorenson Squeeze route. Better yet,
    export an AVI from Premiere and open it Flash Video encoder (free
    program). The quality will be determined by your encoding settings
    in Premiere/SS/FVE.
    2. Progressive download works for every Flash player that
    supports FLV's (I forget what the first player was, 6 perhaps). The
    only difference between 8 & 9 is that 9 also supports the new
    compression codec On2 VP6, which lets you do alpha channels and
    compresses a little better. Just use Sorenson codec and you'll
    cover your bases.

  • Downloaded file corruption

    iBook G4/1.42, 512MB RAM, 10.4.9 on combo update. Machine running absolutely normal before. Been on 10.4.9 for some weeks. No problems whatsoever. Unaltered OS X apps in use. Regularly disk permissioned, cache cleaned, sudo periodic daily/weekly/monthly script in terminal. 21gb free space.
    2 days ago, from nowhere, PDFs, image files, MS Word docs and MS Excel docs that come into Mail are seen and detected. It comes up with the correct preview, has the correct size etc. But they won't open. Only Word doc that has opened has been one with no images. So the problem is to do with images, it seems to me.
    I thought this may be a Mail.app problem, but I downloaded an image file from my server (via FTP program) and file still corrupt - so it suggests a local problem on my iBook or something seriously wong with the server (other users on PC and Mac report no problems). I also checked the server (Windows I think) for hidden files, nothing strange there.
    Image files, pdfs, word and excel docs on the iBook already are fine.
    So maybe you can see why I am confused?
    I then checked Console and discovered a world of logs that I only part understand - error messages seem to be 'corrupt jpeg data-premature end of data' and 'extraneous bytes before marker'.
    The error message on MS Excel files are: "the file may be read-only, or you may be trying to access a read-only location. Or, the server the document is stored on may not be responding". Needless to say the xl file is NOT read-only, and the mail service is POP not IMAP.
    The MS Word message is: Word cannot open the document. Try one or more of the following: *On the File menu, click Open to open the document. * Make sure the document is a valid Word document. Needless to say it is a valid word document.
    Images either don't open in preview, or the window just shows some scrambled stuff at the top.
    In all cases, have attempted to open files from Mail or from the desktop.
    Although I'm British I travel a bit and this problem has started in China. But I travel here frequently, never had this problem. I'm wondering whether their cyber-curtain is corrupting files.
    I sent myself an image from the laptop's hard drive, the e-mail back was corrupted.
    Word, XL and image files on the iBook open as normal.
    I forwarded an incoming mail with an XL attachment to the UK, they can open it (on Mac and PC). I asked them to zip it and return it. It didn't open.
    I've repaired permissions, there were no unusual messages. Have had no power outages or other disk corrupting events.
    I looked in HOME/LIBRARY/PERMISSIONS and found 2 lines for Word and Excel. I moved them to desktop and re-opened xl and word. The programs work fine, they made new permissions files. But Mail attachments don't open.
    Mail Downloads file has permissions that say I can READ/WRITE.
    Any ideas anyone, please?
    Sorry to go on so long, have tried to give as much info as possible.

    Hi, this is what happened. You'll have to excuse my ignorance, although i thought I knew my way around Macs, actually I have never done this single user mode before. So, I clearly know less than I think! Here goes:
    started with apple/s on start-up; got black screen with white words.
    Typed in fsck -y. It came back with message that HFS is journaled, had to be fsck -f. (incidentally, in OS X, checking disk in DU, the dialogue says S.M.A.R.T is verified).
    Did a fsck -f. Dialogue looks like DU Verify Disk actions. Result was Disk OK, no errors.
    Followed instructions for reboot, sh /etc/rc. Dialogue I noted includes IPv6 initialised, default to accept; error 01, error number 65 for MSNS platform send UDP failed to send packet. (this seems like my Firewall settings where all options in 'advanced' pop-up are ticked. I mention this coz the error messages in Console suggest some bytes are either missing or have been added to the files.
    Loading in single user mode stops after working bonjour.
    re-enter sh /etc/rc, receive message boot cache control - cache failed to initialise. No other obvious failure messages. loading still stops at working bonjour.
    re-entering of sh /etc/rc gets a long list of bootstrap commands.
    no progress thereafter, just a repeat of the localhost prompt.
    In the end, powered down and started, OS X starts as normal.
    screen never moved beyond black background white words (similar to MS-DOS prompt in Windows?); is it supposed to load a basic OS X?
    What next?!

  • Cannot download files - or even post here?????????

    I started a topic in this thread that I couldn't download files any longer from sites such as Rapidshare - after a few minutes of downloading at 56.7 kbps the connection appears to be lost and the download rate drops to zero. If I attempt to re-download I get to maybe 4 or 6 mb then the connection is lost again. This happens every time on every file and no matter how long I leave it the connection does not restore, so file downloads are now impossible.
    I'm on BT broadband and they say the line is fine with a connection speed of 576 kbps download, but there appears to be some kind of intermittent break which loses the connection - web browsing is fine but there are a lot of blue address bar hang-ups and error messages "lost network connection" or "Safari could not connect to the server" which never used to happen. I have made no changes to the Mac other than Apple's own software updates.
    When I tried to post this earlier I got the Safari can’t open the page “http://discussions.apple.com/post!post.jspa” because it could not connect to the server “discussions.apple.com” message.. as usual... so it took me two attempts to even post... anyone else having these problems, and what's the cure or cause?

    It appears I cannot edit this message despite being logged in and able to reply, so here's a post-script I was not allowed to add earlier:
    P.S. - here's an interesting point - when I went to close Safari I got the "download in progress" message - my two test downloads have not yet stopped having been running in the background all this time although the total downloaded, 6.4 mb and 12.9 mb are unchanged with a total running time estimated as 17 hours 13 minutes left. The download speed is now 3.1 kbps per second. Why are my downloads so constricted as to be almost impossible??? I can't fathom this at all....
    Why couldn't I edit my own message despite being still logged in? Something very funny is going on here...
