Merging two documents in pages

I have made several cover pages and the one i finall like i would like to add to another document. The cover page has images. I cant' do the copy and paste it won't carry the images...does anyone know how to merge documents in pages?

I guess you have Pages 5 but didn't mention it.
Feature removed by Apple. Apple has removed over 90 features from Pages 5.

Pages '09 should still be in your Applications/iWork folder.
Archive/trash Pages 5 and rate/review it in the App Store, then get back to work.

How can I merge two documents in Pages 5.2?

I am created a lab manual for my classes and each individual lab is a separate pages file. It is now time to merge the documents so that the page numbering updates itself and print to PDF to be published. How do I do that? I've read online that pages 09 would allow you copy paste thumbnails from one document to another but pages 5.2 doesn't seem to allow for that. Help!

That's right. Use Pages '09.
You can export to Pages '09 from Pages 5.2.

Merge two Documents

Is there a way to merge to documents like (I hate to say it) Word for Windows does? I think that the only things that would be merged or the comments. Are "comments" fields or ...
Really that's all I want to merge are the comments from two separate docs. Can it be done?

You can copy & paste sections from the thumbnails pane of one document into the thumbnail pane another to combine the two. Comments or footnotes would also be moved but you may have to "show comments" for them to be visible. I do know that headers & footers don't move.

I have two documents in Pages

that are "stuck" for a lack of a better way to say it. They will not download, nor delete. I've tried all I know. They appear as dark boxes with the download bar beneath. Nothing I do can delete, modify, download them.
Any suggestions?

Have you tried turning use iCloud off and then on again? Settings>Pages>Use iCloud>Off.
Or ... Settings>iCloud>Storage and Backup>Manage Storage>Pages. See if you can delete the documents in there.
Or .... Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Or ... Turn WiFi off, restart the iPad, turn WiFi on again and see if the documents will finally upload/download.

Acrobat combine/merge/background/overlay two documents?

I'm using Adobe Acrobat 8 Standard on a Windows XP Pro PC.
I'm trying to merge two documents. The first is a PDF printout from a third party program. The second is a report created in our standard Word template, then printed as a PDF; this has numbered pages and headings which relate to the first print out. I'd like to overlay the two, so that the printout appears as part of the report. I can only do this page at a time at the moment, but the documents are large. Does anyone know of an automated way of acheiving this?

My few queries
1. Are these PDF, word Douments stored in SAP DMS? If not ask them to give you the merged files which is stored in their legacy system and then upload.
2. Why there is need to merge all these documents ? Any business process specific requirement that will enhance Day to day Operation?
Because we need to think before going for such mass change whether it is really required.
Even if you achive merging of all files, next the client would ask to delete all original files which are store.
There should be logical reason to implement this.
If client pressurises then as suggested by Pradeep go for standard maket solutions. Because even if by hook or crook we try to achive the merger through ABAP, we cannot gurantee the merger and its validation whether we have its merged properly.
Hope it will help you to take decesions.

I don't know of a way to easily compare two documents in Pages. Maybe there is an app to do this, but I don't know of one.
What you can do in Pages is to open both documents, resize the windows and drag them side-by-side on the screen. Pages 5 has a limit on how narrow you can make the windows, so this may be a bit of a pain.
The first step would be to show the Word Count in both documents. (Pages 5.5.1 Menu > View > Show Word Count, or click on the View button in the ToolBar and Show Word Count). If the Word Counts are the same, you have **some** confidence that the documents are identical, but no guarantee.
An example of two short documents with different word counts:
Document A (33 words)
The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.
Don't count your chickens until they hatch.
Don't cross your bridges until you come to them.
An apple a day keeps the doctor away.
Document B (34 words)
The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.
Don't count your chickens until they have hatched.

To home in on that difference, copy and paste each document into a column in a spreadsheet such as Numbers or Excel, so that each paragraph becomes a cell in a column. Turn on Wrap text in cell.
The different heights of each cell (paragraph) become apparent.

I mean that I would like to make compare two more less the same documents. For example I have one version of a contract as a final version. My partner send me the same contract also as a final version (not in mark up) and I need to know what is different between my version and the version from my partner.

Merging two or more separate Pages documents into a single document

Hello everyone... I have written a book as a bunch of separate Pages docs. I want to compile these together as a single document that I can edit and paginate. Therefore, I don't want to convert to PDF format, since I wouldn't be able to do any editing. Does anyone know how to merge two or more separate documents into one?

Michael,
Display both documents with the Page Thumbnails showing in the Sidebar. Copy the thumbnails from one document and Paste them into the Thumbnail sidebar of the other.

If you search in the existing threads, you will get a response because your question was already asked and responded.
Some tools are able to merge different PDF.

My question is how do you merge documents the way you do in Microsoft Word 2008. I have two pages document I want to merge together without having to do it manually through copy and paste. I assume if there is way to merge documents in pages I could merge a pages document with a .doc document or another format that pages can open.

Only available soluce: copy paste
Copy paste the thumbnails to grab every items together.
_Go to "Provide Pages Feedback" in the "Pages" menu_, describe what you wish.
Then, cross your fingers, and wait _at least_ for iWork'10

In older versions I could merge Pages documents just by dragging them on top of eaach other. Now it acts like I can but separates the two documents right away. Extremely frustrating! I'm using the Pages app on an ipad mini

If you are on an iPad it is not Pages 5.
If it used to work and does not on an iPad that is a novelty. All the features seeem to have been removed on the Mac version, we presumed the iOS version of Pages had actually been improved.

Merging InDesign documents to overlay the pages

Hello, I have two InDesign documents. I need to merge them in a special way:
I need that the page 1 of the Document A and the page 1 of the Document B are merged both onto the page 1 of the resulting Document C, but so that the content of each would appear in different layer of the resulting document. This I need for all the 615 pages of the documents A and B. In simple words, I need to overlay the Document A and Document B onto the same pages. (Or, in other simple words, I would need to put the document A on top of the document B.)

PLACE the page from doc B into doc A. It will appear as a linked image and must be edited in the original.

Page Numbering when merging a document

Please help!
I am presently working a trial copy of CS3 and trying to figure if I will convert from PM7.
I publish a 12 page newsletter each month with a merge of name and address. The merge works but the page numbers continue after the first set of pages.
In other words p1-p12 is the first set and p13-p25 is the second and so on, but I want to retain the original page numbering of p1-p12 for each merged set.
Can anyone guide me to get this to work?

No Problem. I'm presuming you don't have a merge-in-print-stream workflow available, so you need to make, ultimately, a 6,000 page document (as I said, this is not the ideal solution). That's the way Data Merge works in ID.
Create a twelve page facing-pages doc to start, and add the fields you need for mailing addresses to the first or last page, and the rest of your fixed content wherever it belongs. Since all of the content is static except for the address info, you can actually build the entire document on master pages, if you wish, using a different master for each page, but it's pretty much six of one, half-dozen of the other. The advantage to putting the fields on the master page is you can update the data file. DON'T ADD AUTO PAGE NUMBERS. Put real numbers on pages 1-12, and they'll repeat along with the rest of the stuff.
With the document set up this way, execute the merge (you can test it by doing a limited number of records). You should get a document with all pages repeating, in order, and the merged addresses.
In my test run the last page of one set was shown separately from the following first page of the next set in the pages panel, and if you open the panel menu and uncheck the "allow document pages to shuffle" option, they will stay that way. It makes no difference for printing, but it is more intuitive to keep them broken apart.
To print, use Print Booklet, and set up as two-up perfect bound with a signature size of 12. You could also do this with a 4, 8, or 16 page newsletter with a corresponding signature size count. Set the page size to landscape tabloid in the print options, and check the preview. Should be good to go. Go fishing while you wait for it to spool those 6,000 pages.
The good news is that the same 12-page base document should work with a commercial Xerox or other high volume copier/printer that has a data-merge module in the RIP (though you might have to do the imposition yourself, and there are scripts for that that work just fine), so you have to do the same work either way.

How do I merge two pages (within the same PDF file) into one page? For example, I have a scanned 3x5 card; the front of the card is on page one and the back of the card is on page two. How do I merge them so the front and back of the card is on the same page? Thanks!

It works well because InDesign is highly reliable for placing PDF files (you can even choose which layer):
And it uses the common PDF Export presets for the Creative Suite. I've used it very reliably to place ads saved as PDF, and including them in a program guide, then exporting the entire project as one PDF file.

That is essentially a 2 up format as shown.
2 pages duplex will equate to 4 pages per sheet.
Your document needs to be divisable by 4. Add two blank pages at the end of your document.
Toggle "Print Blank Pages" from the Print Settings
Remove the blanks after creating the booklet.
