Merging two iWeb domains

Hello,
About a year ago I thought it would be nice to work with two seperate iWeb domains. To make a long story short: it isn't.
So I'm deeply regretting splitting up, and in both domains there are some pretty important websites. Is there any way to merge them back in again?
Thanks,
Julian

  • Issue after merging 2 iweb domains

    Hi
last night I merged 2 websites, and I thought everything was okay....I published them to my.me account ( I am not ready to post to an outside host yet)....the merged site looks good when I access it through the url, but I wanted to do some editing this morning and all of the images are gone from the domain in iweb. Does anyone have a clue as to where they might have gone? Or if there is a way to retrieve them. I still have both pre-merged domains so I can start over form there if I must, but I am afraid that i might cause the same problem to happen again.
    Any thoghts?
    Thanks

okay I did that and here is what I found:
the combined site did come up, but all of the images were missing....each iplace an image was to appear had a big x and a ? mark and a box saying images missing... and to reload the images
I think it will be easier to remerge the sites and try again....i thought I backed up the combined site but apparently I did not....a painful reminder to back up always
I just wish I knew what I did wrong to prevent it from happening again
OT, Thanks for your suggestions and help.

  • Merging Two iWeb Sites

Here's my dilemma. I have a nice site I've set up on my powerbook. Last week I created another site on my iMac at home. What I'd like to do is somehow transfer the site from the iMac to the powerbook so that I can access and modify both.
Any thoughts and pearls of wisdom are greatly appreciated.
    iMac & Powerbook   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

You can move your iWeb work from your iMac to your PowerBook easily. iWeb saves all of the information enabling the editing and publishing of your sites in a single file called "Domain". This file is located on the harddrive in the following folder pathway.../Users/username/Library/Application Support/iWeb/...
You have one of these Domain files on each of your computers. In order to transfer your site, all you need to do is to copy this Domain file from your iMac onto your PowerBook. Since you will then have two Domain files, you may find it helpful to organize them in descriptive folders. I would recommend against renaming the Domain files themselves. Here is an illustrative image of the proper organization...
Once you have your Domain files organized. It's easiest to simply double-click on whichever Domain file is associated with the site you want to work on. iWeb will then open that Domain file. That Domain file will also become the default Domain file used until you double-click on another Domain file.

  • Two iweb sites!

I have two macs, and when I go into iweb, the sites displayed are different. Both mine, but one older than the other. How can I amalgamate?

All you can do is copy the domain file of your newest site from one Mac to the other so that you have both domain files on one machine. You can find the domain files under User/Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain.sites.
You can copy it to an external hard drive and do it like this or you can e-mail it to yourself and put this domain file in the same place on that Mac. You should then be able to use and open the newest domain file and this is as much as you can do.
You cannot merge two domain files and sites.

  • Can't open old iWeb domain file (yes, I have asked in the other forum!)

I had to wipe my MacBook hard drive and reinstall my data and OSX. Having tried to restore my iWeb domain file from Time Machine, I find I am unable to open it. (I've asked this question in the iWeb forum but was eventually directed here.) I've tried seemingly everything, including changing the file's permissions, wiping iWeb preferences, creating a new domain, deleting it and replacing it with the old one. Still I'm told iWeb can't open the file.
Could it be corrupted? It's probably relevant that it was created under a different account (I had to create a new one when I wiped the disk) and I believe iWeb doesn't like opening domains created by "another" user.
Any help much appreciated. It's important because I am applying for a new job and my online folio -- aka my iWeb website -- is not up-to-date, which looks very strange.

I have to confess, I was hoping someone with more knowledge about iWeb's Domain file would chime in.  Evidently not, though.
Let's try something else.  Run the following two commands in the Terminal (paste them in, only one at a time, and hit return after each one):
    ls -al ~/Library/Application\ Support/iWeb
    ls -al ~/Library/Application\ Support/iWeb/Domain.sites2
Then paste the output here.  Here's what I get:

  • How to build transitional replication on two different domain servers in SQL server 2012 ?

    Hi All,
We have to build transnational replication with updatable  subscribers between two different domains .
Is it possible ,if it's possible please share the any document or process .....
    Thanks in advance.
    RAM

    Yes this is possible.
Replication across two non-trusted domains or workgroups can be done by using Windows Authentication by configuring
    pass-through authentication.
Create a local Windows account on both the Publisher and Subscriber that has
the same username and password. Use this account for the Merge Agent process account and have the connections to the publisher and distributor impersonate the agent process account. Ensure the account has the permissions required in
    Replication Agent Security Model.
This approach is covered in the section Use Windows Authentication to Set Up Replication Between Two Computers Running SQL Server in Non-Trusted Domains in
HOW TO: Replicate Between Computers Running SQL Server in Non-Trusted Domains or Across the Internet.
Another approach to configure replication between non-trusted domains is to use SQL authentication for cross domain connections.

  • HT2548 How can I resolve a conflict of 2 different iWeb Domains in my Library?

I somehow (using 2 different Macs) created 2 different iWeb domains (Domain and Domain 1) and now need to combine them into one Library on my new iMac. How can I resolve this issue? I want to be able to merge Domain 1 into Domain, so I can also FTP publish the pages in Domain 1 to my new webhosting service, (in addition to the many others I've already published from Domain). But I don't know how to merge them or even if it's possible? Can anyone help me out with this? This is the last thing I need to do before moving to iCloud. Thanks.

In Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
To open your domain file in Lion or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
do shell script "/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"delay 1
    tell application "iWeb" to activate
You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
Just launch the application, find and select the domain file you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder.  So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

I have just installed ilife on my  new computer from my disk. I have several backups of my webpage from my  old computer. Everything would be great if I could just run the program. When I click the icon for iWeb I get the following message:  Can’t open file “~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/Domain.sites2.”

  • Can't open file "~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/Domain.sites"

I was working on iWeb today, doing the usual adding pictures, and gave a few pages some color, and a few pictures here and there.
I restart my computer, because as usual, I almost have no memory left. When the computer is running again, I opened iWeb, and I get this odd message:
    Can't open file "~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/Domain.sites"
Why is this here? I didn't do anything weird to trigger such message. The site was working perfectly fine! I tried taking the domain file to the desktop, then opening it once iWeb launches from there, and same message appears. I put it back to its place, and tried putting the iWeb plist on the desktop, and same deal!
Everything is back in its place, I haven't changed or triggered anything to deserve this. I ran Onyx, full optimization update. I restarted computer, and conducted a full disk permission repairs. Only 1 error found out of another app.
My computer is healthy, my programs are running fine. What is going on? Does anyone know how I can fix this?

    Hi
Whaow 3.1GB. I'm sure iWeb has problems with that. I have the same problem with my iWeb. I have about 100 BLOG pages with a lot of pictures. Although iWeb scales the pictures when publishing (good!) it does not scale them when they are stored in the domains file/dir (bad!) So if you have an 8MP camera, this adds up after a while.
You can open the comains file and try to figure out what causes the trouble. (Right click/CTRL click, open content) sort on size to see if you have some extremely large stuff in there (Movies???) Take them out and try to make them smaller.
    Good luck!!

  • Can't open file "~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/Domain.sites2."

    Hello,
I have been using iWeb for over a year and I have a lot of my work on it. But for some reason, when I went to open iWeb, I get the error message:
    +Can’t open file “~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/Domain.sites2.”+
Does anyone know how I can fix this and make sure my content doesn't get deleted?
    Thank You!

Deleting the preference file does not affect the domain.sites2 file. If it's not in the default folder or has a name other than domain.sites2 then that's why iWeb couldn't find and open it. Find it and double-click on it to open it with iWeb 2. You do have a backup copy the domain file, right? If not download and use frequently the Automator application that Varkgirl created. You can get it at Varkgirl's iWeb Tips and Tricks site.

  • IWeb "Domain" File Not Opening in Mavericks

I just bought a new Mac Pro and converted everything over from my early 2008 Mac Pro.  However, my iWeb Domain file will not open in the new Mac.  It defaults to the start up iWeb page asking me to choose a new template.
    Facts:
1- Both systems are running same version of Mavericks.
2- Both systems are running same version of iWeb.
3- In the Early Mac system, when I open iWeb, the Domain automatically opens.  In new Mac it opens to the "choose a template for your webpage" option.  Same result if I double click on the actual Domain file.
    Troubleshooting already done:
1- Confirmed this is the only Domain file on the system
2- Opened same file on old system to ensure it is a valid Domain file
3- Re saved in old system and transferred over to new system.  Same result when opening.
Thank you in advance for any insights on this.

  • Please help me to merge two places.sqlite to get my old and New history at the same time, every time i rename my two places.sqlite to see my old and new history

every time i rename my new places.sqlite to see my old history and come back rename old places.sqlite to see my new history, i tired and i found No Way to merge two places.sqlite :( but it's must be found this way for The PPL to see their old and new history :(
    Thank You all in Advance

You can't merge history otherwise then using Sync to store the history and bookmarks of one places.sqlite on the Sync server and then disconnect.<br />
Copy the second places.sqlite file to your Firefox profile folder with Firefox closed.
Then setup Sync once again using that account and merge the content on the Sync server with your computer.

I have two valid, purchasd iTunes accounts.  Older iPod has some great music, I just got a new iPad and set up second iTunes account, bought some more iTunes items for that account.  Just discovered iCloud.  Now I want to put all my music from both accounts onto the cloud so I can access it on all my apple devices.   Can't seem to add from one account to the other.  Can sign onto the new account wiht my old iPod, but it will not let me sync without erasing all the music on the device.  How can I merge these two accounts into one?

You cannot. iTunes pruchases remian tied to the account they were purchased with.
I just got a new iPad and set up second iTunes account,
    Why?
Remove your info from new account, update old account as needed and use that.

  • How can I merge two iPhoto libraries stored on an external drive?

Today I was in a One-to-One at the Apple Store.  I want to merge two i-Photo libraries into one.  One library is on my Air, the other is on my iMac.  Both libraries have been moved to an external drive.  When I try to move one onto the other, they won't go.  Yet I am certain that while at the store today, the person there started to merge them.  He did not need the library manager software in order to do so.  We stopped the merge in order to move on to another issue.  Now that I am home, I can't get the libraries to merge.  What am I failing to do?  Thanks!

The only way to merge two libraryies is to use  iPhoto Library Manager which will merge two libraries and keep keywords, titles, faces, places, and other metadata intact.
If one imports one library into another library every image file in the first library, originals, thumbnails, face files, etc,  get imported as an original photo. You will end up with a total mess.  DO NOT IMPORT ONE LIBRARY INTO ANOTHER LIBRARY!
If you have backup copies of your libraries get them back and use iPhoto Library Manager to merge them.
