'Merge Cell' is greyed out - how do I activate it and merge two cells together?

I am just learning Numbers, trying to merge two cells together should be a very simple process!
I have followed the instructions in help
The 'merge cells' function remains greyed out no matter what I do - I therefore cannot merge two or more cells into one!
Please help, is there something I need to activate in the cell?

Actually, a "truly blank document" would be an empty canvas, containing no table of any type, no document header or footer locations, no document margins, no page definitions, no page orientation. Just a blank sheet onto which you could put whatever objects you wish.
Perhaps Apple should have named the 'not blank' templates "Basic" rather than blank, removed the header column, and left the header row intact. That would match the "Basic" table style available in the Tables button's menu, used for adding a table to a Sheet.
If you really do want to always start with a table which has no header rows and no header columns, it's easy enough to set up.
Open a new 'blank' document (Apple's 'blank').
Click on the Table 1 icon in the Sheets list and press delete. (faster than selecting cell A1, then taking two trips to the Table menu to delete first the (header) row then the (header) column)
Click the Tables button and choose Plain to insert a 'plain' table (no header row, no header column)
(optional) Add or delete rows or columns to make the blank table the size you desire.
(optional) Position the table where you want it.
Save the result as a Template.
In Numbers Preferences > General > For New Documents, select Use Template, then Choose your new template.
Until you change that preference, any New document you make will contain your new, 'blank' table.

Cannot merge two event together in Photo 1.0 Version

I remember it was possible to merge two events by simple drug-n-drop in previous version.
Why it's not possible to do in new Photo 1.0 Version?
Is there any workarounds? Events management became simply impossible.

Moments are the new Events. However, all of your iPhoto Events have been brought over as albums and are located in the folder titled "iPhoto Events".
First open the sidebar with the View ➙ Show Sidebar menu option:
To merge Album/Event A into Album/Event B open A. Select all of the photos in it and drag onto the Album B icon in the sidebar. Verify that B has all of the photos and delete Album A.
Granted it's not as easy as iPhoto but that's what we're left with. Along those same lines there's a way to simulate events in Photos.
When the library was first migrated there was a folder created titled iPhoto Events and all migrated iPhoto Events are represented by an album in the folder.
When new photos are imported into the Photos library go to the Last Import smart album, select all the photos and use the File ➙ New Album menu option or use the key combination Command+N. Name it as desired. It will appear just above the iPhoto Events folder where you can drag it into the folder
When you click on the iPhoto Events folder you'll get a simulated iPhoto Events window.

Merging 2 Videos Together

Hi guys,
I have 2 videos that were shot using a tripod. Only a very small section of the videos are different and I want to add a crossfade only to that section, I want the rest to flow seemlessly.
For example, if you look at this picture - http://s23.postimg.org/n36iua4t7/pp_example.jpg
The black part is exactly the same on both videos (and when I add the clips together it plays seemlessly), the green square however changes to show an alteration to the product. How can I add a cross fade effect to only this section.

It looks like you need a track matte.
Do a search for this in the manual and it will give easy to follow instructions

Merge two forms together

I have two seperate form documents that I want to put together into 1 single PDF. When I go to 'create pdf from multiple files' it says that the document is restricted. However, there is no security, and I am the one who created it.
How do I combine there two fillable forms into 1?

If you extended reader rights to the forms they cannot be combined. You need to save a copy without extended Reader rights and combine those two files.

How to merge two images together

I sell mobile phone cases and want to produce my own images. I have taken images of the case and have taken the background off. I have found an image on the internet of the phone and want the phone to be merged into the case.
could someone please help me to do this.

In Editor, go to the expert tab.
Open picture B, the one you wish to select something from to add to another picture.
Use one of the selection tools, e.g. selection brush, lasso tool, to select the object. You will see an outline ("marching ants") once the selection is complete
Go to Edit menu>copy to copy the selection to the clipboard
Open picture A, then go to Edit>paste
Use the move tool to position object from picture B.
In the layers palette you should see picture A as the background layer, and object B on a separate layer.

i have a music folder on my desktop. under my "music folder" i have different genre's eg 'rnb folder' 'house folder' 'dance folder'
everytime i download new music i put it into which ever folder is dedicated to that specific genre.
to keep things short:
i want to merge my music folder on my desktop with my music folder on my external hard drive.(so that my new music will be on my hard drive as well)
how do i do that?tried holding the 'option key' and the 'option,alt' on my keyboard as the other threads have mentioned.nothing works all i get is the option to "replace" or "stop". no merge option.
running mountain lion osx10.8.4
if anybody has some tips.
check youtube vids and other websites doesnt give the "merge" option.

If you can make it work in the console, then you use the same string in the plugin.

There is no way to join clips in iMovie 08 unless they were originally pieces of the same clip.
However, voiceover should be working across multiple clips in your project. Basically, once you click on a starting point and the voiceover begins recording, it shouldn't stop until you stop it or it hits the end of the project. There can be multiple clips between the start and stop points when recording a voiceover.

This has probably been asked a thousand times, but I am new to photoshop.! I am trying to take a pic of me and combine it with another one of my friend so it looks like we are standing beside each other. How do I do this? I am using photoshop.com. THe key to merging 2 pictures is to have the angle and color of light the same, and taken from the same perspective. Many ways to do this, but start simple by just using the move tool to move one pictue into another. Use the erase tool to erase unwanted portion of the pic. Once you try this you will probably move to more complex methods.

Merging two videos

I'd like to create a short video, 4-5 seconds, that shows a delicious meal on a table and with a bottle of beer that has rising bubbles. The meal would be a static photograph so the only movement in the video is the bubbles. I'd like to use the same video of the bubbling beer with many different plates.So you'd put the beer track on top of the food track, but somehow everything outside the actual glass of beer would be transparent so the food plate showed through.
Is anything like this possible with Premier Pro?

I'm not sure what you mean "It starts at the shoot." The shooting is all done. I have a static
image of a meal and I have a 3 second video of the bubbling beer. The job now is
to add the beer to the meal so I get a three second video where it looks like the beer is on the table with the meal.

What's a Project?
Do you mean a book? They're based on Photos in your Library already, so, just make an album from those photos?
Do you mean Events? To merge them just drag one to the other.
Do you mean Library? If so, you'll need the pid version ($20) of iPhoto Library Manager
