MES without PP

Hello,
ENAFOR is Drilling Company and member of the International Association of Drilling Contractors its operational division on two main activities are the Drilling and Work-Over, (in addition to the maintenance activity Petroleum and support activities such as Transport of its machine).
We use SAP since 2005 and implement MM, PM, SD, FI, CO, PS and HR modules , our rigs have a lot of machines (drill of well ) and each one has its software system such as RIG SENSE , MUD WATCH SYSTEM ,E-MUD SYSTEM,MU-SHO,,,
Our objective is build a control room for remote control our rigs on real time, and we think about SAP-MES.
Our question is, can we use MES ( manufacturing execution system ) without PP (product planning) system implementation?
Because we drill wells to our customers and go to other well of other costumers of Oil and Gaz company.
Knowing that, we have 48 rigs across the country.
Please help.
Regards
Omar.

Hi Sergiy
So, We have to implement PP modules before MES system.?
Regards
Omar.

• How to Manage MBOM/EBOM

Our company is currently beginning the implementation process for Oracle EBS 12R and is having difficulty between the consultants and employees finding a working module to manage our EBOM/MBOM without all the manual upkeep.
Background info:
- Our MBOM is currently managed in Flexnet MES manually
- Agile contains our EBOM as well as all ECR/ECO's
- Agile feeds PeopleSoft currently (which we are converting to Oracle)
- Japan (our parent company) dictates our ECR/ECO's while we manage an in-house MBOM
- The current MBOM is completely manually and not extractable from the MES system
How do we find a logical way to maintain the EBOM in Agile, and the MBOM is Oracle and Flexnet MES without having to make so many manual changes every time an ECO is issued? Obviously we need to set the MBOM first but how do we logically compare the two for changes within the Oracle system and create automated updates? What is the best practice in the field? Thank you for your input.

Can you please share the documents, if you have, how Agile is sending BOM to PeopleSoft? And can you also please share the docs for data flow in PeopleSoft?

• ATi free driver not working since ati-dri and mesa update in linux-lts

Hi,this is my first post in the forums since its my first issue, I have read the wiki, but the thing is that the problem came suddenly. I installed Arch linux without problems in a fairly old machine that has an old radeon Chipset: VGA compatible controller:
Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI RS690 [Radeon X1200 Series]
Everything was working fine since yesterday.
The thing that i did different yesterday were two:
1) i installed Sabayon linux into a new partition, so i resized the ext 4 partition in which i have Arch. Sabayon messed up my grub.cfg so i entered to my Arch system using chroot and a live Cd and repaired it using grub-mkconfig.
2) Before that i fully upgraded my Arch system, when this problem came out i looked into the log and discovered that pacman updated the packages mesa, mesa-dri and ati-dri.
After that i rebooted into Arch linux and couldnt run the xserver. Tried to solved the 2 above issues by taking this measures
1) using fsck for repairing possible errors due to the resize of the partition.
2)Reinstalling the whole system with pacman, using my full system package list.
3) regenerating the initram with mkinitcpio.
4)regenerating the grub.cfg
5)downgraded the packages ati-dri, mesa, mesa dri.
After all that i just couldnt start the xorg. The only way that i found to start xorg is to install the xf86-video-vesa which im currently using, is there a way to get back the ati free drivers??
Im currently using arch-lts as kernel, and i have kernel 3.7.9 also, none of them working.
Here's my Xorg log

OK, first of all i checked if i had the module loades
using lspci | grep radeon
That returned:
radeon 993341 0
i2c_algo_bit 5295 1 radeon
ttm 54346 1 radeon
drm_kms_helper 26027 1 radeon
drm 182706 3 drm_kms_helper,ttm,radeon
i2c_core 22628 5 i2c_piix4,drm,drm_kms_helper,i2c_algo_bit,radeon
so i think the module was loaded, neverthless i did modified mkinitcpio and added the module radeon, uninstalled the vesa drivers, rebuilt the initram and reboot my system just to see te same results: no Xorg.So i installed the vesa drivers again to run xorg. I post the Xorg log using only the Radeon Driver.

So maybe is something about KMS. And i dont think this has to do with data corruption, the strange thing is that i downgraded the packages, maybe antoher package is interfering. Ill try to solve the issue of KMS and mode set, the weird thing is that i have nomodeset in my grub.cfg

• Can LabVIEW call a DLL built with VS(2005) C++ with /CLR and Without an Entry Point

My project requires me to convert a C++ program to a DLL and having it called by LabVIEW. Due to the complexity of this C++ program (converted from fortran using f2c -C++ option), it cannot be compiled without using /clr option. I did build the application standalone (/clr), and it functioned fine. When I build it into DLL using VS2005, I was forced to use No Entry point option and without using DllMain in the C++ code. Eventually the DLL was built without error. But after I call it from LabVIEW, I was not getting calculated results as expected. I added a testing function to the C++ code of the DLL and just try to modify a parameter, it will not, but only return the input numbers. I was passing data by pointer and not by value, so I expect this parameter output be modified. I suspect that the DLL didnt get executed at all as it has no entry point specified.
Am I on the right track to approach this task, or I am heading to totally wrong direction here? I believe due to the fact that my C++ was from f2c and use vsf2c.lib and so on, the code is managed code, so that a regular DLL cannot be built from it with an entry point. How can LabVIEW call such a DLL? Am I right on that? I really need your advice here for a right approach to this problem and possible implementation "watch outs"...Thanks!
Bryan

Hi...Finally I was able to compile my code with an entry point defined and without using /clr. I can also call this DLL from LV and got back a variable from a little test function added to the DLL. But the function that was used for my main application in the DLL crashed LV and I got a pop up box from Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library: Runtime Error! "This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way, please contact the application's support team for more information". In Visual Studio I also got the following message: (I eliminated most of the "No symbols loaded" messages that are not errors but just info.) I would apprciate if someone can take to look with your more "experienced eyes", many thanks! Bryan.

• Xorg + xf86-video-intel lags with compiz / high cpu usage without it

I have recently noticed that my X server lags. It happens approximately once per second (it's fairly regular) and it can be easily observed when watching movies, dragging windows or rotating cube. Screen just hangs for some milliseconds. Lags are bigger and happens more often when many windows are opened.
Even worse things happen when I'm _not_ running compiz. X's cpu usage spikes permanently up to 30-40% and lags are even more noticable.
My hardware:
Laptop with Intel GMA 950
Configuration
I tried some different xorg.confs but it seems to be irrevelant. It happens even on plain conf created by 'Xorg -configure'
xorg-server 1.5.3-3
mesa 7.2-1
xf86-video-intel 2.4.3-1
kernel26 2.6.27.8-1
I also tried downgrading these packages to
xorg-server 1.4.2-2
mesa 7.0.3-3
xf86-video-intel 2.3.2-1
kernel26 2.6.27-1
and it seems to resolve cpu usage problem but not the lags.
Does anybody know what might cause these lags? It's really annoying.

It turned out that color depth was the issue. I think that 24bit is too big for my graphics card and compiz (although I remember that i810+24bit+compiz worked fine).
So changing DefaultDepth in xorg.conf to 16 fixed the problem. Is there any other way to workaround this without decreasing color depth?

• How to install RHEL AS3 on PVS without XF86???

Please help anyone?????
I have not yet modified the jes install script (can I do this?) ...
....but I have configured XF86 using stubs for the kernel-drm rpm that is the source of conflicts with the VPS kernel ...
... yet I abandoned XF86 since have no device (/dev/tty0) and have configured and used vnc over ssh -X tunnel instead. I can successfully create windows from virtual X-server session but still fail to install JES with or without -nodisplay option. I still get the same error in all cases
[root@rupture Linux_x86]# ./installer -nodisplay
Attach to native process failed
or from VNC session that successfully creates new xterm windows fine (without -nodisplay)
[root@rupture Linux_x86]# ./installer
Attach to native process failed
So this failure to attach to native process maybe an unrelated problem to x-windows. Can anyone explain why may not be able install jes from vnc session?
So my ISP's PVS server has:
1) stubbed kernel that I have had to stub around to get XF86 installed and vnc working.
2) no tty0 device
3) what else? - causing attach failure.
To get XF86 installed despite my restricted PVS, I installed a stub for kernel-drm from ximian that does not offer proper X-windows behavior, but it was simple way to get XF86 dependencies out the way. My question is no longer why I cannot do JES install without XF86, but why cannot I do an install from vnc virtual X server session that is otherwise working, whether using -nodisplay option or not?
I used the following stub for kernel-drm
[kenw@rupture kenw]$ rpm -qa | grep ximian
kernel-drm-stub-4.1.0-0.ximian.1
I was then able to install XF86.

Any advice welcome? Is it time to abandon this ISP and private virtual server? Most ISPs do not claim RHEL AS3 support... so I guess I am going to unsupported Fedora IV kernels anyway.
Has anyone successfully deployed JES to an ISP's private virtual server? Is there any solaris container's out there yet?

• OpenGL 3.0 with Mesa

I am trying to get some form of OpenGL 3.0 working on my system so I can test an OpenGL application I'm developing. So far the closest I've come is using the catalyst repository to install the closed source fglrx drivers. However, my laptop which has the AMD Radeon 6650M, would not properly switch virtual terminals anymore, and more alarmingly, would not shutdown unless I cut the power. So my goal is to use an open source driver, which works much more smoothly on my laptop. I've tried compiling mesa using the AUR package mesa-full and compiling it straight from the git, however, all I get from glxinfo is that an OpenGL version string of 2.1. I've tried compiling it with software rasterizing and without, and it never makes a difference to the OpenGL version string. I always make sure to set LD_LIBRARY_PATH and check with ldd and LIBGL_DEBUG=verbose that glxinfo is running with my builds of Mesa. I've already tried everything that these guides have to offer:
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1071467
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1124507
The most I've learned from widespread googling is that mesa supported 3.0 at some point, but then there were MSAA issues, and a patent issue with compressed textures, so they removed it. This is especially frustrating because it seems I can't go long without reading on Phoronix that OpenGL 3.0 support in mesa is finally ready.
I've tried for days to get a working version of Mesa with OpenGL 3.0 working, but am out of ideas. Any thoughts on how to solve this or any details or guides that I may have missed would be appreciated.
Thanks

You need also xf86-video-ati-git and a recent RC of kernel 3.6.
As far as I know the LD_LIBRARY_PATH export is no more needed.

• Intel-dri and mesa-dri and vdpau in general

I updated today and allowed pacman to replace intel-dri with mesa-dri. There is an optdep called mesa-vdpau but I don't see anything about this on the wiki for intel graphics. Can someone set me straight? What drivers do I need for my in CPU graphics to work best?
xf86-video-intel is my xorg driver and required. I have some optional ones too including, intel-dri [replaced by mesa-dri], mesa-libgl (a dep I think), mesa-vdpau (I installed manually), and libva-intel-driver.

After latest updates, vdpau working fine here. Not sluggish anymore. Also issue was solved with VLC crashing when opening some videos from file manager.
@Karol
Yes, I have had libva-intel-driver installed for sometime.

• Mesa 9.1.2 + ati-dri 9.1.2 + eclipse juno = xorg fail

Hi,
using the combination of mesa 9.1.2 + ati-dri 9.1.2 + eclipse Juno (eclipse 4.2.2-1) i get some strange behaviur with GUI.
The monitor turn off and on, GUI is freezed, and somethimes the monitor son't turn on again and keyboard is unresponsive, so i have to force reboot/shutdown with physical button.
java is openJDK 1.7.0_21:
$ java -version
java version "1.7.0_21"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea 2.3.9) (ArchLinux build 7.u21_2.3.9-2-x86_64)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 23.7-b01, mixed mode)
i had to downgrade to mesa (and dependencies) 9.1.1 with sudo pacman -U /var/cache/pacman/pkg/ati-dri-9.1.1-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz /var/cache//pacman/pkg/mesa-libgl-9.1.1-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz /var/cache/pacman/pkg/mesa-9.1.1-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz
now, dmesg say:

Someone can help me?

the dmesg is taken DURING the bug occurence, when the system was usable (monitor on and off)
i've seen the java update, i'll try it soon, in the weekend if i find some spare time.
also tryed with fresh eclipse installation from official repo, same problem. Notice how OLD eclipse version worked fine!!!
maybe it is an eclipse bug or new feature that trigger this mesa/ati bug

• Run a LabView 2012 executable without installing RTE.

I have a thumbdrive with a LabView executable that is ready to run. I want to be able to run this executable on different PC's without having to install the Run Time Engine on each machine. What dll do I need to have in the same directories as the executable so I can run the executable without actually installing the Run Time Engine. Thanks in advance.
Sebastian

Like the others said, there's no official way of doing this.
That said, the answer to your actual question is "lvrt.dll" and some of the others in the same folder (I don't remember offhand which folder it was. Look for it yourself). Note that there are some caveats:
The last time I did something like this was around LV 7.0. I didn't check in later versions, but I seem to recall someone who usually knows what he's talking about saying that it doesn't work at some point after 8.0.
Even if it does still work, this will only support things which are in those DLLs and don't have any other dependencies. That means things like VISA, DAQmx, other drivers and possibly even some of the display elements which are based on MESA for rendering or on other external resources.
It obviously won't be supported in any way.
Try to take over the world!

Hello everyone,
I wanted to use Imovie so I installed Ilife on my mac without and installation CD. After that Iphoto was unavailable. It says : can't open, application can be damaged or incomplete.
How can i get all my photos back please?
Thank you very much for your Help !

To re-install iPhoto
1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5: Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows: In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
/var/db/receipts/
2c: on 10.7 they're at
/private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List.

• [SOLVED] Any Way to Install Mesa 7.9 Early?

I'm a KDE user, and I've read that the new Mesa/Intel 7.9 supposedly fixed a few problems I find myself running into. I see that Mesa 7.9 is in testing, and I'm itching to try it out. I know that it will probably hit stable soon, but I'm really curious to see if it really does make KDE 4.5 work better.
Is there a way I can upgrade to Mesa 7.9 now without enabling all of testing? I know that's typically not recommended but in this case I want to see if it resolves my KDE problems.
Last edited by jlacroix (2010-10-13 14:32:17)

I went ahead and took the plunge. I downloaded all the Mesa packages (and dependencies) and installed them. KDE now works A LOT better. The blur effect works, and it seems to be faster. A few of the kwin/OpenGL bugs remain, but the blur effect works so it appears that I didn't take this risk for no reward. The thumbnail previews are fixed with the new version of Mesa as well.
I'm not proud of the fact I mixed packages from testing, but some of the issues/lag with KDE and Mesa 7.8 was driving me crazy, and I wasn't sure how long it would be before Mesa 7.9 hits extra. When I update packages it complains that Mesa is newer than the repositories but I guess that is to be expected.
In the testing forum, I see some people are having problems with Mesa 7.9 so I wouldn't recommend anyone else do this. I guess I got lucky, Mesa 7.9 works well for me.
I am marking this solved for now. However, I look forward to the new Xorg as well as the new Intel driver, whenever they may hit extra. Hopefully those packages will solve the rest of my issues.

• [solved] AMD Radeon - strange behaviour after mesa-update

Good afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen,
This is my first posting, I will try to give as much as detailed information refering to my problem as possible. Please be patient if I ask for solutions which for you all seem easy and logical, I am a Newbie.
The details: I am running a HP Pavilion 17 " AMD Quadcore laptop, 8gb Ram, Arch Linux 32bit Kernel 3.17.1 XFCE desktop with an AMD Radeon graphic card for about a few weeks now. Everything went fine so far, but last Saturday I did an update via pacman-Syu, the update included a mesa package. All went smooth as ever. Then after a reboot the XFCE desktop had stripes across the laptop screen, the mouse cursor had disappeared, also letters of the icon descriptions and the menus were missing, some strange "hieroglyphics" appeared instead of them. I wasn't able to downgrade the mesa-package as I nearly wasn't able to open the terminal because of the missing mouse cursor, then I managed somehow to get into the terminal and gave in the commands but the writing was incomplete and/or did not work because of these strange and missing letters.
No problem, I thought to myself, a fresh install will do the work, so I wipped my hard drive using Parted Magic, then I did a fresh Arch install (Netinstall), this time using LXDE instead of XFCE as my desktop environment. When I booted into the login screen first, it looked fine but after logging into the desktop all the stripes, the missing mouse cursor and the strange letters appeared again. So is there any solution to that strange behaviour ? Before the Saturday-update everything worked without any problems for weeks. BTW other OS work without these problems, I tried Macpup just for fun, no messing-up with my Radeon graphics card happened.
Sorry for my piss poor English I am Austrian. Sorry for eventually causing any inconvenience asking this question. Regards, Fladi.

Here is my english translation/version of frades's question, so you english-speaking readers can help him (I don't have a clue to the answer...)
frades : J'ai essaye de faire une adaptation de ton question en anglais...
"That's it, it's been two times that I get the following message when trying to record a playlist on itunes to make an Audio CD. The message appears when the burning is about to end (...) the tracks don't play neither there is cd-text info...
The message : "The recording/burning has failed, the peripheral don't respond. It's not possible to continue or try again"
That can't be, in my opinion, due to a CD problem, I have used this brand without problems before upgrading to iTunes 7.1.1 and MAC OS X (PPC) (10.4.9)
I don't run any other application while the burning session, and the Burner Drive don't have problems in the Recording Tab of iTunes and on the System info.
I burn with other software other type of CDs without problems
If a good soul feels like answering my problem, no matter how, I am grateful"
