Mesh Profile

L.s.
Why is there a undeletable Mesh template on my controllers?
since upgrade to latest version of WCS and controller-SW (3750+wlc) (wism) i have on 2 of my controllers a mesh tmpl.
when i try to remove wcs tells me that's not possible.
tried to do it directly on the controller, but off-course that's not possible.
when i see clients trying to connect to 802.11b wlans there is a "Mesh_Profile" which i didn't create.
Any lights?
Regards Frans Verschoor

Hi Frans,
the reason that you might be seeing a standard mesh template is for the 1500 series mesh AP's. Cisco have built in a few future feature into the software of which some do nothing. (Page 9 for "new mesh features" of the software release notes) also For example in the latest version version 4.1.171.0 of the controller it now references 802.11n access points. (Cisco statement page 9 - 802.11n radios are not supported for use with controller software release 4.1.171.0. These radios will be supported in a future controller release. In this release, please disregard any 802.11n-related parameters
that appear on the controller GUI pages and any 802.11n-related controller CLI commands.)
Hope that helps
Cheers Mark

  • Need help with adding shadows to a shape (gradient mesh?...blur tool?)

Hello. I'm an Illustrator novice, as you will be able to tell from my question. I'm somewhat familiar with the gradient mesh tool as well as the raster effects that Illustrator CS3 offers, but I can't figure out how to use them to do what I have to do.
Here's my situation. I'm creating a logo design. It is a musical note with a flame coming off of it. I want to add the appearance of the shape having shadows (yellow for the light areas, and red for the shadowed areas).
I can't get the gradient mesh tool to work because I'm assuming the shape is too complex. I understand that I could probably just create a bunch of different gradient mesh areas and just try to mesh them together, but is this necessary? ...and is chopping my shape into mulitple sections really the best method ? (it sure doesn't seem like the logical solution).
Then I tried using Illustrators blur effects. I'm concerned to even use them for a logo design, because the "blur" effect is raster, and with a logo; it's probably not wise to use anything raster, correct? Anyway...i can't get it to work. I created a shape using the pen tool to replicate the shape of the shadow. When i blur it, the blur is visable outside the original logo shape. I don't know how to make it stop at the path edge. Does anyone know how?
If anyone can please help me here, I would be more than grateful. I realize these questions probably stupid ones, but I just can't seem to figure out how to do this, despite reading tutorials and watching numerous youtube videos on the gradient mesh tool; I can't seem to figure out how to adapt it to my situation.
Here is the image I created in Photoshop. I am trying to duplicate it in Illustrator CS3.

Thanks Steve and Jet. I've spent the lasts 2 hours calling around to different print shops in hope that I can maybe trade labor for insight into their printing process. Problem is there seems to be a lack of 4 color offset printing companies who also offer spot colors. I really wish I had the money to take a class, but when I do, I will. I just contacted a few freelance designers who seem to have a lot of print work in their portfolios. Maybe they can teach me a thing or two, and in return I can drop them a few bucks or help them with something.
Jet, you've got me very concerned here. What do you mean by "It's not just a matter of selecting colors; it's also a matter of selecting the number of inks necessary to render them in the various reproduction methods in which the mark will be used"? Are you just stating the importance in using swatch books (Pantone)?
You mention the importance of a design being rendered in different forms (apparel, signs, promotional items..). So how should I go about doing this? Lets say a client wants a "mark" printed on all of the things you stated. Is it my duty to find out what printer they will be using before I submit design files to them? Is it the job of the designer to contact the print shop and get their profiles for different prints (glossy paper prints, matte paper prints, t-shirt printing, vehicle graphic printing)? This is all very time consuming, so should there not be extra charges when dealing with setting up different print settings for particular print jobs?
I've read the blogs of some successful logo designers. David Airey for example just submits his logo design to his client in eps form I believe (plus any requests). Should he be submitting a separate file for each intended use, or is this the job of the client and printer to work out?
You've got me extremely worried that I am going to really deal someone a bad hand here. As far as I know, this hasn't happened yet; but I'm glad you have me concerned. The sad part is that I do have a 2 year degree in graphic design and I didn't learn one thing about printing and it's association with color. The little I have learned is from the internet. I've checked out Amazon(dot)com for a good book on learning about color and print, but there seems to be a lack of recently written books (with reviews) regarding the subject. Can you recommend any?
I started doing freelance work because people would ask me to design a t-shirt for them, or a flyer for their small business. So I did. Now I have more people requesting my services. It's hard to turn down the money, especially in these times. But at the same time, I don't want to cause major headaches for anyone either. Until recently, I had no idea the complexity of the design to print process. Just 3 days ago, I purchased a monitor calibration device and my first set of Pantone guides. They should arrive shortly. I know, don't laugh.
My lack of knowledge regarding this whole thing has really got me questioning what I am doing. I figured all i really needed to know in Illustrator was to use the pen tool, since my use of Illustrator has been strictly for shaping logos.
There are just so many questions I have, and all can't be answered through a google search. I really don't like wasting your time with my ignorance, but I do appreciate your assistance. It takes some time for my little brain to absorb all of this, but I have been reading all I can from the endless tutorials and forum discussions available on the web. The problem I've found is that alongside the large amount of great info on the web, there is seemingly an equal amount of contradictory or partially inaccurate info as well. which only confuses me more. For example, most people say to design in cmyk for print (300dpi higher or vector). A rep from Pantone told me to create my designs using Pantones color swatch groups. Why would I want to start in Pantone? Don't all of their colors cost extra money (spot colors require a new printer plate and ink to be set up). Starting in cmyk seems like a more logical approach. Is he just trying to sell me Pantone?
Sorry for my redundant question regarding the concern for non-single colored paths not being able to join. You obviously answered my question with your example.
For your time, I would like to show my appreciation. If you wouldn't' mind leaving your paypal address, I can send ya a couple/few bucks. Books are great, but they can't answer all questions. Forums like this one are really very helpful and a great learning tool. I do realize I have to continue educating myself as much as possible. I'm not going to give up, that's for sure.
So, do you work for Adobe, or are you a graphic designer? Do you have a website with tutorials or a book I can buy lol?
It would be great to be able to see a walkthrough in the design process of a successful designer and the proper methods of designing for different forms of print.

  • Projecting an image with the wrong display profile

I've just spent three hours with a friend and his projector/laptop. He uses it to display images at a photography club, and recently he's had trouble getting a satisfactory projection, with display size and colour rendition.
The laptop is a MESH 1366x768 running Windows 7 and CS4, the projector was a Canon SX80 1400x1050. They were connected by VGA.
1, as the projector and laptop monitor were different native resulutions, I established that the Windows needed to be set to external-only for the desktop to assume the projector's dimensions.
2, I noticed that he'd calibrated the laptop's display, so I made sure that Display 1 (LCD) was using the Spyder profile, and Display 2 (SX80) was using sRGB.
3, I set the projector to sRGB mode and zeroed all its adjustments.
The colours were awful, and no amount of projector adjustment helped much. Eventually, I tried a bunch of sRGB images in the projector's USB port, and I realised that the zeroed state was actually pretty good - so it turned out that the laptop was the problem.
I took a flyer, and ditched the laptop display profile, replacing it with sRGB. Bingo! The projector's VGA display was now very similar to the USB display.
I put the calibrated profile back on "Display 1", as a sanity check, and confirmed this was the problem (and, before you ask, yes I restarted the applications each time I changed the CM settings).
So, the question is: what the heck is happening here? Is Windows 7 delivering the wrong profile to CM Adobe software, or is Adobe only looking for the primary display profile? Am I missing something?
Thanks for any insights, and restoration of my sanity.

From what I've read, some display drivers don't allow the distinction of using different profiles for multiple displays.  Someone no doubt took a shortcut somewhere and assumed there would/could only be one display.  Given that the laptop in some modes can share the very same display with the VGA port, this isn't that surprising.
I don't know whether this is something that might have been corrected, but whether a newer driver has been released for that laptop might be something to check into.
Laptop display drivers are typically not available from the chipset manufacturer, but rather the laptop maker, and traditionally in general they don't do all that good a job keeping up with technology, so there may well not be a driver update available.

WiFi signals get stronger the closer the machine is to the router and the less interference/blocking of the signal like via walls with metal in them or of thick concrete.
Since the signal emanates outwards in a sphere, your supposed to place the wireless router in a central location in the building so it covers all areas.
The power of the router also has a affect, if your router is old or something not that powerful like a Airport Express, it doesn't have the ability to filter out other signals or enough punch to get through walls etc. or cover a large area as effectively.
If you buy/have a powerful router of newer make and have issues where there is metal in the walls or thick concrete, then you can buy something like OpenMesh and by using Ethernet cables from the back of the router, extend the WiFi signal into other rooms and areas past the blockage.

  • Wireless Mesh topology parent child optimization. How do you force a reconfig?

    Release 6 controller
    9 Mesh APs. 1524 (2x 5G radios, 1x 2.4G)  and 1522 (1x 5G radios, 1x 2.4G)
Designed for 3 linear hops and then a split to the rest.
    AP1 = Root AP
    linear to
    AP2
    Linear to
    AP3
    Linear to
    AP4
    equidistant to
    AP5 and AP6
The rest are further away from AP4, but have visibility back to AP 4
The issue is after an event (say a power outage) at AP4.
    AP5 uses AP3 as it's parent.
That's okay during the power failure, but when AP4 comes back up, I want to force AP5 to switch it's parent to AP4.
You may ask why, if AP5 can reach AP3 okay, it's okay to leave it that way.
    Well, doing link tests...
    test   --------packet loss %-----
    speed  AP3toAP5 AP3toAP4  AP5-AP4
    =====  =======  =======   =======
    54M     100        0         0
    48M     100        0         0
    36M      52.6      0         0
    24M       1.44     0         0
    18M       0.89     0         0
So you can see it's desireable now that AP5 uses AP4 as it's parent.
Over time, the system might figure it out, but our limited experience shows it seems to stick to the way it is.
To complicate matters, sometimes we've found that it doesn't seem to reconfigure when the channel number has changed so AP5 can reach AP3, but AP4 (1524) comes up with a different channel on it's downlink radio.
So, how can we force a mesh topology reevaluation/change for either 1 AP or the whole bridge group?
I thought changing the bridge speed from "auto" to 54M (on AP3 above, for example) might force the attached children to rethink it, but it didn't seem to work (maybe I needed to wait an hour?).
I also thought tweaks to "Radio Performance Profile" for radio might help. (not sure what to change, or how long to wait for a result)
suggestions on how to quickly reconverge?
reseting APs and hoping they come back in a better topology is painful and slow.
    Thanks - Glen

Glen, I know this is a very old topic but we are suffering from similar conditions on our end.  Even using directional antennas we are having a difficult time having the Mesh network consistently optimize itself.  Did you guys ever find a tweak that worked for you to have the system re-evaluate the connection by packet loss on speed?
    Thanks!

  • Mesh Access Poits Disappearing

    Hi.
We have installed 20 mesh access points (x16=1522AG, 1131AG) controlled by 4402 Wireless LAN Controller (WLC) version 5.2. The network is currently up and running. The problem is that some access points disappear from the controller and then reappear. I captured some message logs in the WLC shown below:
5 Fri Feb 19 11:55:53 2010 Mesh child node '00:26:0a:39:65:0f' is no longer associated with mesh node '00:26:0a:38:6e:00'.

The Mesh access point above is a Mesh Access Point (MAP).
Someone pliz explain the logs or the intermittent disappearance of the Access Points.

    Hi,
    I believe this is correct.
The Cisco Wireless LAN Controller Configuration Guide, Release 5.2 states the following:
Controller software release 5.2 supports these Cisco Aironet mesh access points:
    • Cisco Aironet 1520 series outdoor mesh access points – Cisco 1520 Series consists of the 1522 dual-radio mesh access point and the 1524 multi-radio
      mesh access point.
    • Cisco Aironet 1130AG and 1240AG series indoor mesh access points
The setup is already working and users are able to connect to the internet etc. Only that some mesh access points keep disappearing...but not for long periods of time.

  • 3D Surface Plot - Profil visualisieren

    Hallo liebe Community!

  • 1510 Mesh AP Debug

Hello friends!  I am kicking myself because I cann't find the route of my problem so hopefully somebody can!  I have two Cisco 1510 Mesh Access points one is the root.  I am working with a Motorola VC70 Windows CE 7.0 unit.  The problem that I am having is that everytime the unit roams from the root to the mesh it drops connection.  I was doing a debug on the mesh AP and it was saying that "drop frame, sta sent the frame on wrong vapid" when the unit was trying to roam.  Does anybody knows what this means?  I am working with one SSID (WPA2-PSK) and I have the client on the 2.4ghz channel, channel 11 for the root and 1 for the mesh, and the 5ghz is working as the backhaul on bith channel 161.   Any ideas to point me in the correct direction would help!!!
    Thanks,
    Jason

When I do a debug on the client and when the unit roams from the working AP to the Mesh the debug stops ( I am doing this from a 2106 Controller).  But when the Client roams back to the working AP it shows this.  Which I assume is a successful roam.  Any other client does the same, Laptop with Intel card, Motorola MC9090 Handheld.  It looks like it fully disassociates and looks for its IP?  The coverage is very good between the root and the Mesh AP.  RSSI is at -42 and both interfaces pass the noise interferance profile.  For the coverage that is needed we are using omni antennas and a site survey for the area is around -52 to -66.

  • My mac's software is only available under my profile on MacBook pro. How can other family members get to the optional SW logged in under their own profile

Is there a way to share purchased SW under mote than one profile on the MacBook pro?
    Thanks

If the software is in the HD>Applications folder it's available to everyone. If for some reason you put software into User>Applications folder it will be available only to that user.

  • Logical Profiles in ISE 1.2.1

I´m having trouble understanding the Logical Profiles.
What I understand from the user guide: http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/security/ise/1-2/user_guide/ise_user_guide/ise_prof_pol.html#58510
for those to lazy to read:
You can use the logical profile in an authorization policy condition to help create an overall network access policy for a category of profiles. You can create a simple condition for authorization, which can be included in the authorization rule. The attribute-value pair that you can use in the authorization condition is the logical profile (attribute) and the name of the logical profile (value), which can be found in the EndPoints systems dictionary.
so I thought that meant that I can group Different Profiles (Apple Iphone, Ipad, Ipod) together into a logical group e.g. "BYOD_Idevice" and use this logical profile in the Authorization.
But I can´t choose this freshly created Logical Group in the Authorization Condition. As for the fact, I can´t choose this logical group ANYWHERE.
Leaning back and thinking about it - it somehow makes sense. In the Authorization, you don´t pick Profiles, you choose Identity endpoints. So whats the point about the logical profiles? I was hoping to clean/lean up my authorization rules with them. But for what would I use them else?
Or is this a bug in ise 1.2.1? Not sure if I should call tac about this, or if I´m just not getting it :D
    Thanks alot for your help!

    Nice username! :)
So yes, you are correct, the logical profiles would allow you to group different type of dynamically profiled devices and then reference that profile in your authorization rules. However, you won't see those logical profiles under the "Identity Group Details" section. You will need to leave that field blank. Instead, you need to look in the "second" condition box: expression > Endpoint > LogicalProfile
    Hope this helps!
Thank you for rating helpful posts!

  • I am having a serious issue with all my apps disappearing/not working- user profiles

i will list the things i have done in the past 24 hours, hopefully one of you knows what happened...thank you in advance
first off, my situation- was that i bought a macbook pro(about a year ago) with lion or snow leopord it is software 10.7.5 i dont know what the guy did but when he sent me the computer the username was off and so was the home folder, i changed the username with ease but the home folder stayed tbd and i couldnt figure out how to change it. well it finally got on my nerves enough from looking at it that i wanted to change it today that put me into the situation i am in. Here is what i have changed:
-I added a second profile as to see if i could change the home emblem file named tbd to what i wanted.  This worked or so i thought.
    - then shared and permissions showed tbd(me) so i wanted to change that also so i went into systempreferences>users and groups>login options>network account server and clicked join/open directory utility.  this is where i believe i went wrong i read in a forum that this is what you needed to change to make it look how i wanted it to.   under active directory it still had this guys name gtmb04_evan so i changed it to my name like the forum said, well his name is back up even though i changed it. and this is when everything stopped working.
symptoms:  all my applications act like they are newly downloaded and make me set them up.
    - my home screen is nothing like it was before, no apps are on the desktop and the bar along the bottom only has the basic ones
    - i tried to take the second username off of administrater which made me restart my cp(all my stuff looked normal until this, but didnt work)
-my launchpad wasnt showing any apps they simply looked blank
    - my firefox along with many other apps wouldnt even start prior to reseting and gave me a message with something like couldnt find or access user profile( i forget the entire message)
please please help me, i hate this right now and have no idea what to do, all my files are still under my name, that when i thought i changed tbd- it apparently just made a new folder under users which didnt show up until the restart, i do not have a time machine set up on this computer because i hated the lion setup and couldn't get it to operate correctly

i had one mac and spilt water on it, the motherboard fried so i had to buy a used one...being in school and all. it is a MC375lla

i do not have a backup of it, so i am thinking about replacing my old hard drive from the water damaged into this one, not even sure if that would work, but it did not seem to be damaged, as i recovered all the files i wanted off of it to put onto this mbp
the previous owner didnt have it set to boot, they had all their settings left on it and tried to edit all the names on it, had a bunch of server info and printers etc crap on it.  i do not believe he edited the terminal system though--he doesnt seem to terribly bright(if thats possible)
tbh i hate lion compared to the old one i had, this one has so many more issues-overheating,fan noise, cd dvd noise
if you need screenshots or data of anything else as away
[problem is i do not want to start from scratch if there is a chance of fixing it, this one did not come with disks or anything like my first. so i dont even know if i could, and how it sets now i am basically starting from scratch, because now all my apps are reset but working, i am hoping to get my data back somehow though, i lost all of my bookmarks and editing all my apps and setting again would be a pain

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":
    * https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Basic+Troubleshooting#w_8-make-a-new-profile
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

  • Firefox will not open and my profile name changes, after I creat a new profile it works until I try to open again

Firefox version 16.0.2 was working I have used FF for years. A few days ago it started to run very slow opening web sites. Then this morning when I tried to open it I saw a progress bar that looked like the kind I see after an update has been applied but FF never opened.
I rebooted my windows 7 64 bit and tried again, nothing FF would not open and I got no error message.
So I opened the profile manager and only found a default profile not the one I created last year with my name. I created a new profile and browsed to my old profile folder. FF opened and ran fine until I closed it and later tried to open it again then I kept getting an error box telling me that FF had crashed and asked if I wanted to send a report and restart, I did but no good it still would not open.
I ran the profile manager again and found my profile had changed name to a bunch of numbers. I delete that profile but kept the folder then made a new one and that worked. I shut it down again and once again I get the We're sorry error box.
By the way I had set the profile manager to open when FF loads and it is not opening so the problem is before it gets to that command.

First I already have my view set to show everything so that is not the problem.
But I just tried opening "Computer" from the start button then type in profiles.ini in the address bar and hit enter. The profile manager opened with my profile listed. I selected it and hit start firefox and it opened as it should.
I closed it again and tried to open it from the shortcut in my task bar and I got the Sorry window.
But then I tried to open it from the short cut you get when you press the start button and program list and it work!
I went back to my desk top and tried the short cut on the desk top and it worked.
So I deleted the short cut on the task bar and created a new one and it worked.
I rebooted the computer and tried again and the task bar shortcut works and has the right profile.
So it seems that the problem is that the short cut was corrupted and was causing the error that caused the program to fail to open.
I had no idea a shortcut could do that. In the past I have had short cut stop working but never do what this one did.
I still have no idea where the profiles.ini is.
