Mesh Warp grid disappears

I am new to AE. While moving intersection points of the Mesh Warp grid overlay on a video, the grid suddenly disappears. It happens when I click somewhere in the image area I think, but I can't seem to reproduce the problem to see what kind of click causes it.
Any ideas?

Highlight the effect name in the layer's effect controls panel, and the grid reappears.

  • Mesh Warp effect grid doesn't show in AE CS5 for Mac?

I'm trying to apply the Mesh Warp effect to a layer in AE CS5 on my Mac. I'm running AE CS5 v10.0.2.4 on Mac OS X 10.6.7. It looks like the version of the Mesh Warp effect is v2.0. When I apply the effect to the layer, I don't get any grid lines in the Composite view to let me distort the layer. I've tried moving the effect above and below the other effect applied to this same layer. That doesn't seem to matter.
    Any idea what's going on?
    Here's a screen shot:

    Thanks. That did the trick.
The weird thing is, I had tried that before and it didn't work. I walked away, slept, and when I came back and tried your suggestion again it worked.
LOL, I guess that shows sometimes you just have to walk away for a little bit.
At any rate, I appreciate your timely suggestion and response.

  • Warped grid in AI cs3

I'm trying to create a warped grid for a logo background. I made a grid in Photoshop and imported into AI. when I go to use the free transform tool it does not warp the grid at all. I imported the photoshop file to AI as a .psd and I tried importing as a .jpg, same problem. Is there an easier way to do this or is this the only way but I'm doing something wrong?
what I need the fiel to look like is similar to the file in the attached.
    any help?

    You sure are.
    There are several ways.
    1 Object>Envelope Distort>Make with Mesh
    2 Object>Envelope Distort>Make with Warp
    3 Effect>Warp
    4. Any number of the distorting effects under the effects menu Effects>Distort and Transform>
I almost for got the warp tool and under it are other distortion tools.

  • Mesh warp available in photoshop?

Some photo editor has a feature called mesh warp: it overlays a grid over a selected area and the user can drag the points in the grid to distort (warp) the underlying graphics.
The closest thing I found in photoshop is liquify, but it doesn't work quite the same. It's harder to make subtle changes with the liquify tools than with mesh warp.
For example, if I have a photo of a woman with barrel waist and I want to edit her into hour-glass waist, having mesh warp would be handy.
    I have photoshop cs2.

Take a look at Human Software's
    Squizz.

  • Good plug-ins or methods for moving mesh warps

AE doesn't let you move or track a mesh warp onto an item inside of a shot easily. It won't even work on an adjustment layer (OR maybe I'm doing something wrong?). The best workaround I've seen is this:
    http://www.videocopilot.net/tutorial/demon_face_warp/
But it is a lot of steps and it really is a work around and not a straight forward solution that can be relied upon 100% of the time.
I was hoping for more instant gratification with perhaps a plug-in like this:
    http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Graphic/Graphic-Plugins/RE-Flex-After-Effects-Plug in.shtml
The problem is that one costs $600. Anyone heard of one that does the same for less, or FREE?
I'm also open to new methods, but please don't recommend something you haven't already tested yourself.
    Thanks!

Complex technology, complex pricing model. RE:Flex is pretty much the only warping/ morphing plug-in left on the planet (including for most of the other compositing apps, not just AE), unfortunately, so options are limited. Inside AE, of course Liquify and the Puppet tool as wel las all the other distortion tools. FreeForm is certainly a viable option for some tasks, but since it suffers the usual limitation of any AE 3D-ish plug-in being a 2D layer with a custom 3D space, tweaking it to match existing footage is pretty tricky. That being so, the next logical step are 3D programs with UV mapping, deformers, bones and their own set of morphing...

  • Drawing a warped grid in perspective???

Now...... i know how to use the perspective tool and i understand that i can draw a grid onto this but the grid always seems to be out of whack when i do and the line spacing isn't at all perfect.  What i want to be able to do is draw a grid with equal spacing and have the ability to warp this so it looks all bent up going off into the distance.
I can see this is going to be something that i have to draw in manually but i'm kind of hoping that i can have the bulk of the job done for me.
However, if i do have to draw it manually, how would i go about spacing the lines equally along a wafty curved line???

Actually, upon playing about with this, i seem to have got exactly wat i was after    Thanks a lot

  • Mesh Access Poits Disappearing

    Hi.
We have installed 20 mesh access points (x16=1522AG, 1131AG) controlled by 4402 Wireless LAN Controller (WLC) version 5.2. The network is currently up and running. The problem is that some access points disappear from the controller and then reappear. I captured some message logs in the WLC shown below:
5 Fri Feb 19 11:55:53 2010 Mesh child node '00:26:0a:39:65:0f' is no longer associated with mesh node '00:26:0a:38:6e:00'.

The Mesh access point above is a Mesh Access Point (MAP).
Someone pliz explain the logs or the intermittent disappearance of the Access Points.

    Hi,
    I believe this is correct.
The Cisco Wireless LAN Controller Configuration Guide, Release 5.2 states the following:
Controller software release 5.2 supports these Cisco Aironet mesh access points:
    • Cisco Aironet 1520 series outdoor mesh access points – Cisco 1520 Series consists of the 1522 dual-radio mesh access point and the 1524 multi-radio
      mesh access point.
    • Cisco Aironet 1130AG and 1240AG series indoor mesh access points
The setup is already working and users are able to connect to the internet etc. Only that some mesh access points keep disappearing...but not for long periods of time.

  • Repeatable and storable Warp grids

Here's another thing that you should be able to do but can't…
The Warp Function at the moment is not repeatable, Transform Again does not allow you to repeat Warp transformations. There is only one way to 're-warp', and thats to record an Action step which will perform the same transform. Analyzing this Action step, its possible to see that the  co-ordinates "rational points"  and displacements from these, seem to still require a relatively small amount of data. So being able to repeat them in Transform again (Command Sift T) should be within the bounds of possibility. As far as I can see. Within my limited knowledge.
Also in the Options bar, while using Warp, or for that matter any Transform, the possibility to save out loadable grids and co-ordinates would be useful.
While we are on a similar subject  - it should surely be possible to load in saved Liquify Grids as part of Actions also.

The thing I miss about Liquify is useful applicability as a Smart Filter.

  • Warp certain areas in a photo, PLEASE help.

I know that PSE 9 does not come with a "warp" feature (in transform or free transform).
Example scenario: In a photo of a face, I want to flatten or extend his nose.
Is it possible to select a certain area of photo and distort that area. Or any suggestion.
    Thank you.

Ah..."Mesh Warp" was the phrase I was trying to think of.  Thanks for jogging my memory.
You can select an area in the photo and have the Liquefy distortion only affect that selected area.  The distortion won't go beyond the selected area, however.

  • Grid in matrix report

I've made a matrix report and I want it to have a grid. I did everything that the document "Building reports" said, but it doesn't work properly. When I open the report - the gird disappears, but if I for example change color lines or fill of the frames/fields - the grid appears again. Hovewer if I save this "new-old" report and open this saved version again I see the grid disappeared again.

That is not a permanent solution, i cannot give country field a fixed, because country name may go up to 1,2 or 3 lines, so accordingly it should expand.
Have you guys never faced such a situation in matrix report?

  • Can AE do 1)Photoshop or Flash distort, skew, warp etc. transformations?,2) mask tween:ease in/out?

    Hello AE Community,..
    1) does AE have or can be made to perform Photoshop or Flash distort, skew, warp etc. transformations?, (these save incomparable time in path editing rather than AE's limited transforms and manual point and tangent realignments)
    2) when shape(mask) tweening in AE is it capable of what Flash calls ease-in/out, or what Illustrator and CorelDRAW calls "speed"or "acceleration" respectivly?
    thanks for any help,
    Jeff

  • Strange Grid Pattern when Using Smart Filter

I added a smart filter to my image in Photoshop CS5 and performed a Highlights and Shadows adjustment, and there's now a faint diamond-shaped grid pattern over the entire image. This shows through all adjustment layers but disappears when I turn off the adjustment layer.
This occurs on both of my two monitors, and it happens at every scale that I view the image at, including 100% actual pixels.
I'm using a Mac Pro Quad-Core Intel Xeon 2.8 GHz, with 10GB RAM and a NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT video card. Running the latest Mac OS X, 10.6.3 and the latest Photoshop, CS% 12.0 x64.
    Any clues?
    -=-Joe

Ok thx, got the file and tested it.
First of all: Yes, I see the pattern, so it is obviously independent from both Hardware and operating system, I tested on Windows 7 / CS5X.
I can approve what c.pfaffenbichler found. Obviously we were wrong with our yesterdays findings that the transparency is not transparent. Instead, it is. It is barely visible, but testing it myself it seems to be "real" transparency, but at a very very low level, 1% max. I put a solid color behind that Smartobject. If you turn that layer visible, the grid disappears. To make sure that it realy is the bottom layer that shines through and not some kind of weird "new bug fixing other bug" thing, I put 2 layers behind the Smartobject, one pure black, one pure white. As you should expect, the image turns slightly (!) darker if you turn the black layer visible compared to the "only white layer visible" status.
So obviously shadow/highlights really seems to affect the transparency of smartobjects. Sometimes. Sweet. Will this be fixed?

i've already tried to make it as short as possible without actually missing out vital parts of the program (i hope they all are), so please bear with me if it's a bit long.. thanks!

  • Annoying transparency grid

I'm using Adobe Reader X in Windows Vista. Every time I open a pdf I see the transparency grid over the document. When I go into Preferences and Page Display and and turn off "Show transparency grid" and then click OK, the grid disappears. But the next time I open the same pdf or any other pdf the grid is back! How do I make it go away permanently?

Never seen that. Try deleting the preferences file. Make sure your graphics drivers are up to date. What else is running? What version of OSX down to the decimal point? What version of AE down to the decimal point?
