Message Archive History

I think Message Archive History will help the people to remember what they have talk about and it also would be good if we can save it for future references.

I highly agree. I do not want to delete my messages, but it gets very clutterededenr wrote:

  • Messages OS X - Backup My Archive / History ?

I'm about to switch my internal HDD and reinstall OS X Mavericks, but it's very important that I don't lose my Messages history.
Can anybody tell me how I can backup my entire Messages archive, so that it's ready to be transferred to my new HDD? Is there a Finder location I can browse to, so I can copy the archive to my external HDD? Or is there a tool that allows export / import of my entire chat history? Before the question arises - I do not wish to migrate my current HDD to the new one.
I've heard that Messages uses iCloud to sync messages between Macs, iPhones and iPads. Is it purely for that purpose, or does it actually store your message history on the server too? Would just signing in on my new HDD allow me to access my chat history? Apologies if this is a duplicate post. I did spend some time looking for a similar question and couldn't find anything.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
What might be the case now is the "Ownership" of the files you have moved.
The files on one drive can be considered the same way as if they were on another computer or from another Mac User account.
When you create the first Mac User Account on the computer it is always an Admin Account.
It gets given a shortname that tends to be your real name with upper case characters and spaces removed  (Ralph Johns becomes ralphjohns)
Everything that gets stored in /Users/yourshortname is Owned by you (or rather that shortname).
If like me  you use the same name to create the first Admin Account  then this Ownership is computer or Drive related and is not "passed on" if the Mac User Account happens to have the same name.
Return to those Files and highlight them and do a Get Info (CMD + i keys together)
    This opens the Info Panel
At the bottom is the section on Ownership and Permissions
If there are two names (i.e. both the old drive and the new one) seem to be associated with it you may have some sorting to do.
Most likely the name looks "right" but belongs to the old drive.
Highlight the name (it may or maynot have (me) linked to it as the Mac User account) and then the Cogwheel icon beneath the list.
This should be dark text if you DO NOT already Own it.
Here is a pic of a file I do own for comparison.
The Mac User On this computer that I log in with is just called "Ralph" which is "ralph" in it's shortname form.
"Make "ralph (Me)" the owner"  is greyed out as I already own this file.
In this pic I have moved a music file to an Account called "ralphjohns" on an external drive (/Volumes/Spare Boot in the top section but it is still owned by the "ralph" account.
You may have to make sure the file belongs to the "right" User Account on this current Drive.

  • Cannot view SMS Message Conversation History

    Hello,
I have a Blackberry Curve 8310.  When I first got the phone, my SMS text message conversation history would be saved automatically.  Basically, I could look at any message and see all the prior messages below it (Messages that I sent and received).
Now, I can no longer see the messages that I sent in the history, only the ones that I received.  I changed my theme a couple of times, but I have put it back to the original theme, and it still does not save any message that I send.  My current theme is BB Dimension Icon.
I have looked around in the options menus, and below are my settings for two relevant options:
Options -> SMS Text -> Number of Previous Items -> 20
Message Options -> General Options -> Hide Sent Messages -> No
I tried calling blackberry customer service, but they charge you apparently.
Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

My suggestion would be to do a battery pull remove the battery while the phone is on and leave it out for 30 seconds. Replace it and allow the phone 1-3 minutes to reboot. Then get a friend and converse for a bit. Is it saving it now?

  • Message archiving/deletion in PI 7.1

    Hi All,
I'm new to SAP PI. We have newly implemented PI 7.1 in our landscape. We have installed PI in HP UX 23 with oracle as the database.
We have configured the messge archival/deletion in our PI production server. We have allocated a dedicated file system to store the archived messages. Eventhough we have maintained the path of the archival_interface, no messages are archived in this drectory.
We are using synchronous interfaces and while executing the report ( RSXMB_SHOW_REORG_STATUS  ) as per the note 872388, the report says that there are more than 1700 messages to be archived. But no messages are getting archived in the path mention as of now.
I think we have missed out some steps while configuring the archiving process. Can somebody help me with the steps involved in PI integration engine message archival/deletion.
Your timely help will be much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Go to transaction "SXMB_ADM" on the ABAP stack of your XI installation. Go to "Integration Engine Configuration" and click on tab "Specific configuration". Check if you have the parameter "LOGGING_SYNC" enabled (It should have a value 1). In case it is not present, please create this entry and have the default value as "1". This will enable you to view all sync messages on sxmb_moni.
    Thanks,

  • Message Archiving for the Adapter Engine

    Hi,
we have configured archiving for Integration Engine (SXMB_MONI) messages on the Production XI System. is it necessary to configure Message Archiving for the Adapter Engine also ? in which scenarios archived adapter messages are useful ? are there any other advantages/disadvantages for this(in case of errored messages on the adapter engine) ? Please share any ideas.
    Thanks
    Pavan.

    >>is it necessary to configure Message Archiving for the Adapter Engine also
Not necessary, but depends upon the scenario, lets say you are posting messages to external partner's FTP and there was some issue in connectivity due to which file was not delivered,in this case you need to send the message again.
same thing can happen in inbound messages too.
    >>in which scenarios archived adapter messages are useful ?
i would do this specifically for JDBC sender coz once you pick up the files based upon SQL query, you change the flag so that those values are not picked next time,in this case you can't re-run the old query and get same results.
this also holds for proxies and file too.
    Thanx

  • Message archiving in adapter engine

    Hello Gurus,
We have successfully configured message archiving in the integration engine via all the sap documentation and sdn blogs.
For the archiving in adapter engine, we have followed the documentation as well however our messages are simply not being archived in the adapter engine.
The steps for AE we took are as follows:
    1.  goto DataArchivingService/DAS and created an archive store, home path synch and assigned it to an archive path (the ILM browser connects fine as well)
    2.  created the archiving background job in RWB (both default and a custom one with rules)
The jobs seem to be running fine on our schedule but no messages are being processed.  I am assuming the retention period in AE is the one we have set up in SXMB_ADM for IE.
Is there anything we may have missed?

  • PI message archiving

    Hello
I have recently been made responsible for a PI 7.1 system, and am new to SAP and PI. I have some general questions about message archiving and would be grateful for some advice.
I understand that message details are saved to SXMSPMAST and associated tables. There is a limit to the number of rows in the tables.
    Q. What happens when the tables are full?
    Q. Is it possible to increase the number of rows that they can hold?
I believe that none of our existing interfaces have been configured for archiving/retention.
    Q. Should the interfaces have been configured for archiving before first use?
    Q. Does this only apply to asynchronous interfaces?
The vast majority of messages in SXMXPMAST have ITFACTION set to 'INIT'. I understand that these messages will not be deleted or archived.
    Q. Is it possible to change the ITFACTION and is this something I should be doing?
    Q. There are some synchronous messages with a status of system error on our system. I am not able to cancel these messages in SXMB_MONI. I do not want to keep a record of these messages as they were sent before the system was 'live'. Is there anything I can do to delete them?
I have found several documents on the SAP forums and blogs, but none deal with the case where existing interfaces haven't been configured for archiving.
    Kind regards
    Steve

    Dear Steve,
a lot of questions Let me answer them one by one...
I understand that message details are saved to SXMSPMAST and associated tables. There is a limit to the number of rows in the tables.
    Q. What happens when the tables are full?
    A. Nothing. The number which you refer to as 'limit of rows' reflects the number of expected entries. This value is used to control reorganizational tasks in PI.
    Q. Is it possible to increase the number of rows that they can hold?
    A. Yes, but SAP does not recommend this in general. Also there is no need to increase this number as it used as a threshold for reorganization only.
I believe that none of our existing interfaces have been configured for archiving/retention.
    Q. Should the interfaces have been configured for archiving before first use?
    A. Yes, definitely. The interface action nis determined right when the message enters the Integration Server. Therefore it is important to configure archiving beforehand. However, as of PI7.10 SP6 report RSXMB_DEL_TO_ARCH is available to change the interface action from 'deletion' to 'archiving' belatedly (this direction only!).
    Q. Does this only apply to asynchronous interfaces?
    A. Yes, synchronous messages will not be archived.

  • Connection Message Archiver problems

    Hoping someone can help.
I'm attempting to capture voicemail messages from multiple users. I need to preserve message headers and voicemail messages.
I've downloaded and installed the Unity Connection Message Archiver program from http://www.ciscounitytools.com/Applications/CxN/MessageArchiver/MessageArchiver.html
I followed all the step for configuration.
I can login and search for and select a mailbox or messages for archiving.
However, when I click the "Archive", I see the processing message, but then it reports an error.
Here is the error from the log file: "Failed establishing IMAP connection in the ConnectionMessageBackupFunctions constructor:Failed to attach to Connection server on port 7993 for IMAP login in AttachViaImap"
I've attached the full log file.
I've verified that the IMAP service is running. I've also followed all troubshooting steps found here: http://www.ciscounitytools.com/Applications/CxN/MessageArchiver/Help/MessageArchiver.htm
Can anyone point me in the right direction.

  • XI Message Archiving Problem

    Hi,
I was trying to schedule XML Message Archiving Job in XI 3.0 SP16.
As per schedule procedure, I have defined interfaces for archiving and retention period for the same. Also I have configured the archive object BC_XMB in SARA and activated archive infrastructure SAP_BC_XMB in SARI.
I have scheduled the job SXMB_ADMIN, and the job ran without any error. When I checked the job log of ARV_BC_XMB_WRI<timestamp>, it says "0 XML Messages Archived" and I am unable to see the archive file in the target location.
I have also run the report as per note 872388, i.e. RSXMB_SHOW_REORG_STATUS and it shows "Msgs not in retention period (can be archived):        2,030".
Can anybody help me, how can I solve this problem, so that I can archive the XML Messages.

the problem is the Exclusive = Yes  indicator in the access sequence.
Your other message has this exclusive indicator as well.
so if the first  message is found, then no other message wil be determined
to allow several messages in one PO, you must not set this exlusive indicator

  • Yahoo:  Message Archiving

i know this is probably a question that you'll direct me to yahoo for, but i come to you guys for everything cuz you're all so smart lol.
For some reason after logging out of yahoo messenger for mac, my message archives disappear. They log everything and are available while i'm logged in, but if i close the app and relaunch, everything is gone.

    *A few suggestions:*
Trash the com.yahoo.messenger3.plist file. Unknown what the "3" stands for (# of IDs?). Yours may be a different number.
    Home>Library>Preferences>com.yahoo.messenger3.plist
    ============
    Home>Library>Application Support>Yahoo! Messenger>Logs
    Trash all the log files.
After doing all of the above, repair permissions & then restart.
You may need to redo a few settings. Unsure as the current version of YIM is *still BETA* - v3.0.
Since the current version is BETA = buggy, you should expect to experience problems.

  • Message archiving -Volume test

    Hey Guys
We are planning to enable Message archiving for our interfaces.
We have around 2 million messages waiting to be archived, the fear we have is that once we enable message archiving,XI will try to archive all these messages and might choke up due to large volume of data.
Is there a way to enable message archiving in chunks?or may be some other way to handle this situation.
    Thanx
    Saif

    Dear Saif,
for archiving messages junkwise you can use the retention period. This way you can take control on the number of messages that are excluded from archiving.
To do so simply call report RSXMB_ARCH_INTERFACES, click 'Retention Periods' and increase the value for 'XML Messages Without Errors Awaiting Archiving'. If, for example, the 2 million messages result from past 12 months, set the retention period to 330 days. This way all messages of the past 11 months will not be archived as the are they are considered to be still in retention period.
After archiving of messages older than 330 days has completed successfully, you can decrease the retention period to 300 days to archive messages of next month.
In case this does not work out kindly open an OSS message. There are additional options to control the data volume using techniques of the build-in parallelizer. For this I would appreciate to have access to the system under investigation.
