Message 'Connection error' plus white cross on red on startup of firefox

On starting FIrefox, it takes quite a long time - eventually fires up but with message 'Connection Error' in top right hand corner. IE fires up OK - connection stopped & restarted, same message in Firefox - can access Internet sites, etc, but seems slow - no apparent problem with actual connection

Type '''about:config''' in the Location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key. When you see a warning, click '''I'll be careful, I promise!''' button.
-> right-click somewhere, click '''New''' -> select '''String'''
* name it '''xpinstall.enabled''' and set the value to '''True'''
-> Close the '''about:config''' tab and then Restart Firefox.
All the downloads should work now. If you delete this value some time later it still works.
Check and tell if its working.

I have been using Adobe reader for PC to download my eBooks but the eBook Vendor has switch to Digital Addition,

Try completely removing any authorization using ctrl-shift-D to ADE (cmd-shift-D if on Mac).
Restart ADE, and then reauthorize with your Adobe ID.

Although your symptoms aren't mentioned, I'd try the following document with that. (The server error message is consistent with a LSP conflict.)

  • 'Connection Error' message on HP Officejet Pro 8600

Hi.  Would really appreciate help on this.  I have a HP Officejet Pro 8600.  Working wirelessly.  All connections are fine, print & scan etc works fine.  However when i touch the screen on the printer, for example to click 'Apps', I get the following message:
' Connection Error.  The printer was unable to connect to the server.  Check your internet connection and try again.'
I don't understand why I am getting this message, nor how to resolve it.  The connection seems fine because I am printing and scanning wirelessly without an issue.
Can anyone help me on this?  Thanks

I know this will sound like it shouldn't work, but turn the printer off and back on, then try the apps again.  If that doesn't work, or you've tried it, turn off your router and your printer.  Turn your router back on, but leave the printer turned off.  Wait for the router to stabalize, about 1-2 minutes normally.  Turn the printer back on and try the apps.  If that doesn't work, let me know.

  • Connection Error (error message)

    Hi guys,
i've been having this issue where everytime I connect my phone to zune, it would display this error message: Connection Error. We can't create a connection from your phone to the interent. You can still sync content between your computer and your phone.
I doesn't really pose that many downsides, except that I can't see how much space my phone has left.
Does anyone know how to solve this?
    Thanks

-Check that you have updated to the latest version of Zune Player.
-Try remove/forget your device and restart and replug your phone to reinstall the drivers.
-Be sure that you have no firewalls which could be potentially blocking the software.

  • "Proxy server is refusing connections" error message, fixed with Network Settings but won't save my preferences. Have tried everything!

    I always have to go

I read the "Preferences Not Saved" Help but I don't have a User file in my Containing Folder, so I couldn't change that.
Deleted my prefs.js files, but when it automatically made a new one it was still stuck on "Manual Proxy Settings" which leads to the "Proxy server is refusing connections" error.
    Any new ideas? Please?

  • Please Help Connection Error

This is going to be long so apologies in advance. Okay here goes. My computer is set to reset every time it's cut off; Meaning i have to reinstall my web browser every time i use it. This is not a problem, actually it's preferred. Anywho i use Firefox and as you all know FireFox doesn't come with Flash Player like Google Chrome so up until now i've been installing Flash with absolutely no problems and then one day i'm installing Flash and i notice the installer window is light grey and yellow not black like it use to be.
i go ahead with the installation and it stops at 5% and says "Connection Error" i try again and the same thing happens and it only allows me two tries. i look up at the url and i see get2.adobe.com/flashplayer/ notice the number "2"? Anyways i turn my computer off and back on again i reinstall FireFox and go to install Flash again and the "2" and the old black install window pops up and everything works normally. This happened off and on for weeks so now i know that when there is "2" in the url to restart the computer til there isn't one. This was an inconvenience but i could live with it.
But now there is no "2" in the url but it still displays the light grey window and won't let me move pass 5% no matter how much i restart my computer it does that. And i've noticed i'm not the only one having this problem. i've tried everything that i know to get this thing to work. Older versions of Flash Player and offline installers keep telling me to uninstall FireFox but that's my web browser of choice. And i hate Chrome with a passion; So please can someone here help me because i'm totally stumped, Thanks in advance.
My system is Windows XP 32 Bit

Don't understand your Firefox problem as you described it with repeated installing - sounds like a portable installer version. With regards to the rest of you comments:
The get2.adobe.com/flashplayer/ and get.adobe.com/flashplayer/  are not significant the first one is an alias to the second one. Adobe flash has this bizzare (read F**ked up)  installer that upon completion will delete itself. This is absolutely something that NO OTHER INSTALLER DOES and in this case where an error is encountered it is absolutely the WRONG WRONG WRONG thing to do. This is a stub installer that goes and gets the real installer. Why does it exist ? Probably to make it easy to add extra stuff on your PC such as "McAfee Security Scan Plus".  Quite similar to CNET Download.com which I do not trust any longer for similar behavior.  You are correct in that the message "connection error" you get a "retry" button so 2 tries then the installer gives up exits and deletes itself. Just make a copy of that file - it's only 1- 2MB and keep it in a folder and then make a copy the installer before each run. That will save you going to get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ every time to get the same installer. Once the problem is fixed you get rid of that installer file.

  • EPrint problem with CP1525nw - connection error

I just installed a CP1525nw in our home network.  It's wired, and we can print and access the printer's web page from every computer - no problems with local printing.
However, I'm not able to successfully complete the ePrint setup. When printing the information sheet using the control panel, I quickly get the message "Connection Error, Check Connection", and it asks me to hit 'ok' to return to the main menu.
I am able to turn ePrint on and off, as well as enable and disable ePrint, both from the printer's webpage as well as the front LED menu.  Each time I toggle the latter, I get a new email address.  This successfully displays in the printer's LED window, so I know the printer is able to connect to the internet.
When I manually go to hp's ePrint website, and try to register my printer using the email address, it fails - unrecognized.
I'm aware that in order to complete the installation, the information sheet must successfully print.  That seems to be the only thing failing.  Any thoughts?
Here is some information about the printer and environment:
    - Apple AP Extreme
    - Printer directly wired to AP
    - IP: 10.0.1.17, DNS 10.0.1.1 (router)
    - Firmware: 20101125
    Thanks again.

Everything is now working just fine.  I wish I could say that I know what changed, but it must be magic.
This morning, after letting the ePrint stuff rest for a few days, I removed the service (using the web server), cycled power on the printer, added the ePrint service to the printer, and now everything is just fine.  I'm able to print from our iPad no problem.
Seems hp fixed something, just not sure what.

  • Adobe Air Bug: embedded .flv in .swf does not start - Connection Error

    Hi,
I have embedded an .flv video into an .swf (using Captivate CS5)
Then I use Dreamweaver and insert the swf into html.
So far everything works ok, the video is displayed.
Now I create an Air File in Dreamweaver.
Result; The video is not displayed. Message: "Connection Error"
I am not a programmer. Do I have to change the .xml file or is there any other fix for this?
    Thank you very much!
    Claus

This would be somewhat usefull if we where calling the FLV from javascript.  However, both Clause and I are calling the flash object from the object tag. This is the default from Dreamweaver and also the prefered method for embeding a swf (my case) into a HTML Air app.  The codebase I am using to create my Air app is modified html5 from the client's current website.  (they would like this app to "look and work like the site")
For me, all is good exept the video.  This app has to work offline or I'd just call the video from the website.
Is there a working example somewhere out there we can look at?
Life would be so much simpler if AIR supported the <video> tag in the webkit html engine.  I'll use h.264. I promise!

    Hi,
    Please try the following.
    1. Open an internet browser type printer's IP address.
    2. Should bring you to the printer's status page.
    3. Select the networking tab at the top.
    4. Left hand side select IPv4 under wireless.
    5. Under DNS address Configuration select Manual DNS Server.
    6. For Preferred enter 8.8.8.8
    7. For Alternate enter 8.8.4.4
    8. Select apply. You might get a warning saying this could interrupt connection that's fine.
    9. Turn printer off for about 30 seconds then try again.
