Message could not be delivered.  Never happened with Entourage.

I have tried to migrate from Entourage to Mail. However, I keep getting the message could not be delivered....message. After the message sits in the outbox for a while some messages will finaly send. I have checked the outgoing settings and everything seems to be acurate. I've searched the boards and others seem to have this problem. I've moved messages to the draft folder, trashed the Outbox.mbox, relaunched. Nothing seemed to make a difference. I'm sending the exact same way with the same equipment (besides the computer, new MacBook) and never had this problem with Entourage.
Any Ideas?
Many thanks!
Trey

At my friends house (where I never used to have a problem) or here in the Atlanta airport I keep getting this message.
This is probably because the ISP at those locations are blocking the ports you need. If you want to send e-mail messages from those locations, you will probably need to use the outgoing mail server for that ISP.
When I visit the in-laws I use their ISP's outgoing mail server. When I am at a hotel usually the only way to send mail is via a web interface to my account.

  • Why is Messages saying all my Sent messages "could not be delivered" when they have gone through?

Within the last few days, Messages on my Macbook Pro (Retina, 15") is showing the "could not be delivered" red circle with a white "!" after every message I send out to another Messages user. I can see that the messages were delivered by looking at the same thread on my iPhone (iOS 7.1) and the recipient gets all of them as well. The recipient is seeing these messages appear on their iPhone -- and likely their iPad mini as well.
I've tried deleting the conversation and restarting the Macbook Pro thinking it could be a temporary glitch. The problem still occurs, though. Everything I send from Messages on my laptop (to the same user) shows as not having been delivered, though they have been.
    Any thoughts? Solutions?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
Once you have sent an iMessage the server "pushes" at the contact and all the devices they have linked  to the iPhone Number or Apple ID.
It continues to Push for some time if one devices does not give a response.
However in the meantime the iMessage may have been delivered to an iPhone of iPad.
It may not get delivered to a Mac for instance and it is the feedback that this has not happened that can give you the "Not Delivered" message.
Of course that are variants depending if you are "aiming at" the iPhone Number rather than the Apple ID and if the iPhone is not on WiFi or a suitable Carrier alternative like 3G.
It's a bit like sending an email to 20 people and only getting 19 acknowledgements.

  • Message could not be delivered to mobile.

Suddenly I'm unable to send a pic message to my phone via email. I've always been able to send pics that I've uploaded to my computer from my digital camera through my email program using [email protected]
Now when I sent one I get an error message via an mail from MMSC NDR Administrator ([email protected]) that says:
    Subject is: Undeliverable message
Message could not be delivered to mobile.
    Error: Failed Parsing MM3 headers
I can send a message from my email using [email protected] but not even a plain text email will go through using [email protected]
    Anyone else having this problem?
Any suggestion as to why this has started happening?
Thanks in advance for any info!

MAILER-DAEMON are replying that message can not be delivered when sendin to my mac addresses!?
    this started last night.
I'm sorry to have to inform you that your message could not
be delivered to one or more recipients. It's attached below.
For further assistance, please send mail to postmaster.

Nothing made sense I thought but I just recieved an answer from my web host and they explained it like this:
Our technicians are aware about this issue and they have contacted the proof point support to get the block removed
This should be done in the next couple of days and then you shoudl be able to send emails without any issues
No explanation though why there was a block.
    Thanks

  • This message could not be delivered?

I bought a .Mac account and it set up everyone on my computer automatically. When I open Mail and try to send mail I get an error message saying:
This message could not be delivered and will remain in your Outbox until it can be delivered.
The connection to the server "smtp.mac.com" on port 25 timed out
I can receive mail just fine, but I'm having this issue sending out mail. Any help would be appreciated.

Some ISPs block access to SMTP servers other than their own to reduce the amount of spam sent from their networks; outgoing SMTP traffic uses port 25. Either contact your ISP, use your ISP's mail server, or use a webmail service to send mail.

  • I am getting an error message "could not activate cellular data network" with my iPhone when there is no wifi

I am getting an error message with my iPhone whenever I try to access my data with no wifi.  It says "could not activate cellular data network".  This just started today and has never happened before.  Did I change a setting or something?

    Hello, romac12.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I have experienced this issue before.  If there have been any changes to your cellular account such as adding a line, plan change or upgrade, more than likely there is a provisioning issue on the carrier end.  However, I would recommend going through the troubleshooting steps in the article below.  If the issue persists, see step 9.

  • Error:Message could not be delivered will remain in Outbox

The error message further states that "The server*** cannot be contacted on port 25" This happens when the computer is sleeping and an alarm is sent from iCal. On my older computer, the mail would open automatically and display the alarm message as soon as I opened the computer. No it opens but gives the above error message. Do I need to change a setting of some kind?
    Macbook   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Thanks for responding
Is this email account and SMTP server provided by your ISP used for connecting to the internet or an email account provider only that is not associated with your ISP?
This email account is associated with my ISP.
I have no other problems forward, sending or receiving mail on this account. The only problem remains when iCal sends an alarm and my computer is in"sleep" mode. Then the message stays in my Outbox and won't be delivered.

  • Mail hangs when it receives a report that an e-mail could not be delivered.

    Hi Guys :o),
One bug which is really bugging me is that every time I receive a bounced e-mail report, with a subject line containing words to the effect of:
    "Undeliverable. Return to sender."
    or:
"The message could not be delivered."
Mail is unable to pull any subsequent e-mails down from the POP server.
So I junk the report, and then I delete it.
However, lo and behold, the errant e-mail is INSTANTLY back in my Inbox, plus there's now AT LEAST one copy in my Mail Junk, and also AT LEAST one copy in my Mail Trash.
Round and round I go, junk, delete, junk, delete, but the errant e-mail refuses to go away, and Mail continues to be unable to pull any new e-mails down from the POP server.
Eventually, Mail just hangs, with a spinning disk.
Even a force quit and relaunch of Mail doesn't resolve the spinning disk.
The errant message just sits there, REFUSING to be deleted.
The only way to get round this bug is for me to go up to my POP server, delete the report, and then PURGE DELETE the report - on the POP server !
I then have to go in to my Mac, and go:
--> Users --> Home --> Library --> Mail --> Account --> Inbox, Junk, and Deleted
and then manually drag ALL copies of the report into the trash on the Desktop.
It happens so often (pretty much every day) that I've had to create a shortcut in my Dock which leads straight to the Account folder.
Mail has always been buggy under ALL versions of OS X, but this ongoing bug drives me crazy, mainly because there's NO logical reason for it.
Just because I receive an e-mail message from the Hotmail server, for example, which says that my e-mail could not be delivered, usually because the recipient's inbox is full, or because no such address exists, on paper, that's just another e-mail which Mail is pulling down from the POP server.
However, EVERY TIME I receive such a report, Mail hangs.
I'm reluctant to rebuild my Mailboxes, in case I lose any messages, but I will if you advise it.
Any workaround would be gratefully received.
With best wishes to everyone in the Apple community, especially those on the Infinity Loop.
In particular, I wish Mr Jobs a very speedy recovery.
    Cool,

Quit Mail, Right click on that Mail folder, choose archive, you'll get everything in the folder, and the folder itself in a file called Mail.zip, move it to a safe place, same for the Mail Downloads folder... only the plist is separate.
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist
Not certain, but this can fix myriad Mail problems...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move these folder & file to the Desktop.
Move this Folder to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/
Move this file to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index
    Reboot.
If that doesn't do it and you can afford to redo all your Rules, try these & reboot...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/MessageRules.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/MessageRules.plist.backup

  • Post CUPS 8.5(3) upgrade getting CUPC "did not receive your message because it could not be delivered".

I upgraded CUPS from 7.0(2) to 8.5(3) and now CUPC 7.1(1a) clients can’t chat each other, they now get the following message.
Rose, Bob did not receive your message because it could not be delivered. (3:14 PM)
Wireshark shows response back from CUPS server ip as 408 Request Timeout.
Only the server was upgraded, not the clients.

After several hours with Cisco TAC we found CSCsl63971  (case-sensitivity on proxy domain causes CUPC problems) and were able to resolve the issue so users can continue to use CUPC 7.1(1)

AIM IM The message “Hello” could not be delivered.  The other person appears to be offline. The user is not accepting offline messages. How do I change this setting?

    HI,
The simple shortest answer is that you can't (Change a Buddy's settings)
From your own end you can reply to the first Off Line IM you get on an AIM login (an accompanying IM for AIMSysMessage asks if you want them to Continue - replying No stops them)
IF you have stopped Off Line IMS than you can reset this at AIM Settings
You can log in here with AIM and Apple IDs that end in @mac.com and @me.com  (iCloud issued @me.com name are an Exception)
In addition the Setting in iChat > Preferences > General Section that refers to setting the Status to Off Line on Quit stops the App starting up if iChat is not launched but the computer is ON

  • I keep recieving notifications that my e-mails could not be delivered, e-mails however that I had never sent in the first place!!!Why is this and what can I do

I keep getting notifications that my e-mails (which I never sent!!) could not be delivered to recipients unknown to me. I can find no trace of them in my "messages sent" file, despite of the fact that I have the option of keeping copies of sent messages set "on". What can I do to find out what is going on and to overcome this annoyance -and perhaps peril-?

Please can someone help me to solve the error message "Could not activate cellular data network: PDP authentication failure"when using 3G or GPRS on safari with an iphone 4GS and latest software updates. I have tried resetting the network and phone settings. I have restored the factory settings on itunes and still the problem persists.

All iPhones sold in Japan are sold carrier locked and cannot be officially unlocked by the carrier. If you unlocked it, it was by unauthorized means (hacked), and support cannot be given to you in this forum.
Hacked iPhones are subject to countermeasures by Apple, particularly when updating the firmware. It is likely permanently re-locked or permanently disabled.
