Message error in Nokia 5800 XM

Hi,
I'm using Nokia 5800 XM.
In my phone, I am facing one issue with call summary.
Even I set this option
Settings->Calling->Call->Summary after Call -OFF
It will display Balance and expiry date. (as I am using Pre-paid connection).
I called Airtel, they suggested to contact Nokia service center because this option should work when I set to OFF. After enabling (Settings->Calling->Call->Summary after Call -ON) this option, If I don't get summary then they (AirTel) will support to get message.
I gave this mobile o Nokia service center to fix this.
If any one know this issue, please let me know the solution if any....
And I am facing another issue with back-up.
It says, "file manager is full. Please try after some time."

call summary is nothing to do with your balance this is for your call duration
the balance message is down to your operator and them alone nothing to do with nokia they need to deactivate this

Having a SYSTEM ERROR message (see photo attached) on my Nokia 5800 when i turn it on. Also same error when i try to change date/time.
I have already tried both these codes without any success:
*#7780# - Restore factory settings
*#7370# - Reformat your phone

i used to get it sometimes, i think it must be an app that is trying to start along with the device and it might fails.
have you tried to start the phone without the memory card?
or reinstall the firmware?

Can you transfer txt messages from a Nokia 5800 to a iphone 4?

I have just purchased a new iphone 4 after having a nokia 5800 for years. I have alot of messages that I would like to transfer from the old phone onto my new phone. Can you transfer txt from a nokia to an iphone? New to the world of all things apple.

Messages crashing on Nokia 5800 Xpress Music

Some time ago I changed the place where my SMS were stored from the phone memory to the memory card, and for some time everything worked smoothly. Now, suddenly, some of my messages have disappeared and the default memory location has become the phone again.
Now, if I try to select memory card from the messages settings, the application crashes and I'm sent back to the home screen.
Any idea why this is happening?

Your microSD may have become corrupt so might be an idea to retrieve as much data as you can and try re-formatting it.

Bluetooth setup wizard on windows XP - Nokia 5800

Hi, I am trying to get my computer (running windows XP) up and running with my Nokia 5800 smartphone. The computer has the bluetooth configuration wizard in the systemtray next to the clock. If I click on quick connect and select Hands-free Audio I got to find devices and it finds my Nokia 5800 so when I click on Nokia 5800 and click next I get a message saying 'Device Nokia 5800 XpressMusic does not support service Hands-free Audio' - same happens when I try to configure stereo Audio, I get a message saying the Nokia 5800 does not support service stereo Audio. I am pretty surprised if this it true, or am I doing anything wrong? - I would have thought the 5800 (being a smartphone and stereo music bluetooth) that it would have full bluetooth capabilities?

Installed the updated boot camp drivers.

Nokia N97 can't send picture message to Nokia 5800...

I have a Nokia 5800 and my partner has a N97 and he can receive my picture messages but he is unable to send to my phone. We have gone through all the trouble shooting with our service providers.
I put my sim card in two other new nokia 5800's and the message didn't come through, I then put my sim card in a different brand phone and I got the picture message! The phone shop said it must be a incompatibility between to two phones, I don't understand how two new nokia's can't send a picture message, has anyone heard about this? Any fixes??

I have the same problem as you with picture messages. I have a friend in Australia who has a Nokia E71 and she cant either. This has happened ever since i have had a Nokia phone both N85 8GB and now my N97.
I havent found a answer and we had no troubles when i had a sony ericsson could send and receive pictures.

The settings for Messages cannot be set to Memory Card. It always sets to Nokia Phone.

I can mark all the messages, but the option to copy them to phone memory does not appear! I'm using the lastest firmware for my Nokia 5800.

Nokia 5800 recieving text messages

I have just recently purchased a Nokia 5800, why is it when i recieve text messages the senders name doesnt appear? all it says is 'one new message', is this standard for nokia phones ?

Nokia 5800 RSS Reader broken "unknown error"

My Nokia 5800 RSS Reader spontaneously died. Getting "unknown error".
Anyone know how to fix this? Will any new firmware fix it? Any free apps?
The RSS Reader on the phone isn't bad imo and i had over 10 feeds in there. I'm having to use Opera Mini rss feed is usable but that browser is so fragile!

I have had the same problem on my nokia 5800, everything worked great for about 1 month since I bought the phone and then out of nowhere the feeds got corrupted when I was doing a refresh all I think. It is 100% a software database or broken file issue. I tried searching for bookmark database in system folders and files and others using y-browser to see if I can erase them manually but wasn't able to find any file that would indicate it is a bookmark database or whatever. Maybe someone who knows s60 ins and outs has an idea where do these bookmarks live.
On the other hand I remembered I had done a full back up of my phone beforehand using PC suite (Ovi Suite same thing in a different package) . So I just restored the bookmarks to my phone and vioala. The feeds work again, because the whole bookmark database got overwritten. No hard reset required.
If you already have the error and no back up then it is a problem. You would have to trick the nokia restore software to do the restore with a blank file. You will have to dig around and find out how to do it. Perhaps do a back up for the broken bookmarkrs, find the file, then either replace with a blank or edit it such that it looks like blank. Alternatively, have someone who has a uncorrupted bookmark back up, send you the file and you can restore that one.

Could anyone please tell me if there is a way that I can assigne a message alert tone to a spesific numeber on the Nokia 5800.
I know that you can assigne a diffrent tone to a contact if they call and wondered if you can do the same with an sms.

No, you can change the tone for all text messages, but not for individual contacts.

Nokia 5800 message notification

hi,
I have a nokia 5800 xpress music and since two days ago it doesn't ring when i get a new message, it doesn't show the "you have a new message" on the screen neither the message icon on the top right screen, the message simply goes to the inbox as non read. However the the middle button does flash when there is a non read message in inbox. i tried to turn the phone off and on and it didn't work...sugestions?

Thanks for your post and welcome to the Nokia forum.
We are really sorry for this inconvenience.
In order to fix this issue, I would advise you to perform a soft reset on your phone. Enter *#7780# on your keypad, default lock code is 12345.
If the problem persists, I would suggest you to perform a hard reset. First of all, back up your data using Nokia Suite (Tools > Back up). Once your data is fully backed up, type *#7370# on the keypad. Default lock code is 12345.
The hard reset will dellete all your personal information, that's why a back up is very important.
Alternatively, you may also check for updates on Nokia Suite (by going to Tools > Updates).

All Text Messages got deleted from my Nokia 5800 X...

My phone got struck and the touch was not responding. Tried to switch it off, but the lock key and the power button(switch on/off button on top of the phone) were also not working.
As I was not able to do anything, I removed the battery and then replaced it. After the battery is in place, I switched the phone on.
It was more of a shock for me..!!
When I opened Messaging..no messages were present in my Inbox, Sent, Drafts and My Folders.
I used to store the messages on my Memory Card. So I quickly checked other data on the memory card like the music files. All of them were fine and even the music files am able to play.
I called up Nokia Care Technical Wing, but they are of no use. They talk like any network customer care people rather than technical experts.
I was completely disappointed with this **bleep** from Nokia.
I now changed the default saving memory of messages to Phone Memory but not sure if this works or not.
I was an avid fan of Nokia and purchased the phone a month ago with v40.0.005
I guess someone has already faced the problem, but no solution. If anyone has any inputs please provide.
I have lost my messages rather memories by using this device. Please suggest the solution if I can get back those lost messages.

But still donno why you people havent came up with probable cause and its solution..!!

Its difficult to look for a solution when the problem seems to be completely random and almost unrepeatable. Happened to me once on v20 and I cant find out how to repeat it. The best "solution" I could come up with was to set my phone to back itself up every day automatically, and sync my messages to Ovi Suite every morning and evening.

Nokia 5800 Emails Faxes and messages prob

Hello all
I've had my Nokia 5800 for about a month or so now. When i first got it it was all good, the phone randomly restarted once and after that, up in the right corner it says i have new messages, faxes and emails. I didnt connect my email with my phone, nor do i have any fax related info. Also the message icon that is appearing is different than the one of the text message pic. I was just wondering is there any way to remove these?

This icon indicates that the SIM card's own text message storage is full. This doesn't actually cause problems on the 5800 because it stores its messages in the phone's own memory, but the envelope can look a bit annoying.
To get rid of the flashing envelope:
On the standby screen press the white menu button.
Select "Messaging"
Select "Options"
Select "SIM Messages"
Delete some or all of the messages from the SIM messages folder using the Options menu.
This should make the flashing envelope go away. You only have to do this once because when the SIM card is emptied it won't fill any more, as the 5800 does not store messages on SIM cards.

Nokia 5800 XM Music General Error

Hey,
This is getting really frustrating.
I bought this blue nokia 5800 XM in January (Australia), and in the past month its been giving me trouble.
Okay, right now: Running v50.xx
My phone is having a 'general error' when I try and play music in the music player.
Only when I find songs via the file manager I can play them..One at a time.
This is the second time within a week that its done this!
The first time I googled around and found I had to 'hard-reset' then clear my memory card of bad sectors.
Done that, it fixed..Until now....
This isn't the only problem, at the start of the month my stupid phone would restart itself just for fun, and the alarm doesn't function properly (when I touch/slide to 'snooze' or 'stop' it doesn't respond until a minute later) And the memory card has wiped itself before aswell
I reformatted the entire phone and memory, clean install of firmware and everything but still I get problems?

Think I'll go back to my old SE w910i it was much better..No problems with it ever (even after I dropped the battery in water)
BTW I think I should have 1yr nokia warranty (does it cover first year from purchase?), but then again all they'll tell me to do is wait my time every week re-formatting the phone...

You've done about all you can, I could suggest replacing the memory card and the sim, but this is unlikely to solve any 'physical' problem. If the phone is less than a year old take it to a Nokia Care Point and insist it is repaired/replaced, or contact Nokia direct. The 5800 is generally stable and performs well, but I wouldn't leave it to run out of warranty, there is a good chance the phone would be replaced.

Nokia 5800 screen error

Hey guys, I have a Nokia 5800 with a weird problem, where the screen appears all fuzzy and scrambled. Usually it goes away after a while or after restarting the phone, but this time it still does that even after restarting the phone many times.
