The model 6,1 Late 2009 and the model 7,1 Mid 2010 use an A1331 battery. You can replace it yourself or have Apple do it for you for $129. If you need it quickly make sure you order it from a U. S. seller. Orders from China can take two or three weeks.

Nomad Zen Jukebox dead battery - where to get fixed in Phoen

I have had a Nomad Zen Jukebox for several years. Sadly, after I got another player, I let this one sit for several months and now the Li-ion battery is dead. It's one of those 3.6 v batteries soldered onto the mainboard.
I li've in Phoenix. Anyone know where I can get the battery replaced locally? How about mail-in service?

You should be aware that there are signifficant changes with upgrading ( or more apropiatly) changing your firmware version from one starting with a point somehting to a two point somehting firmware, and i would only advise you do it if you realy need to ( ie you need it to work on a windows Vista P.C)
there is a .30.somehting firmware for that player somewhere ( i think) that shouldnt be such a huge change.
goign to a 2.something firmware will:
make the Zen Xtra an MTP device that you can drag n drop stuff to, and it will also help intergrate it with other programmes such as widnows media player on p.cs that dont have the drivers ( i think)?
during the update process ( if it doesnt brick your Zen) everything on you hard dik will be completly wiped, all mucis, playlists and anny other files that you have stored on your player.
?As? with all firmware updates you should make sure that the battery is fully charged and the player is conected to the mains charger.
Updating toa ver2.something firmware is only possible on a windopws XP machine, and that XP P.C must be checked to make sure its is free from windows media player and windows media player runtim, you need to go to the control panel and select remove? on WMP then roll it back to windows media player 0, re-boot your XP p.c, then go back to add/remove programmes, remove Windows media player runtime ( roll back to windows media player ) re-boot your p.c then with a bit of luck the firmware will uipdate to the latest version.
In my opinion unless you realy want the Zen to act as an MTP device, and work on windows vista, theres not much to differentiate between the last ver firmware and the last ver2 firmware, read t6he link below ( if it still woks) and you should get an idea of the hassle i had when trying, then failing ( and eventualy suceeding) in updating the firmware on my Zen Xtra.

I know nothing about any of them, but on the basis of more than ten years of daily experience reading and answering posts in the Powerbook and MBP forums here, I need to caution you. Many, many people who have bought third-party batteries at too-good-to-be-true prices have found that they were indeed to good to be true: their cheapies have frequently refused to charge at all, failed to hold a charge, failed to repport their condition accurately, couldn't be calibrated, didn't deliver any low-battery warning, drained so suddenly as to shut the computer down (losing all unsaved work), or any combination of the above. So I'm not really sure you get what you pay for when you pay a premium for an Apple battery, but I'm quite sure that when you buy an El Cheapo battery, you don't get anything you aren't paying for. And you may not be getting what you need. So choose a third-party battery at your own risk, and please let us know what you choose and how it works out for you.

I've bought used MacBooks off of eBay for my family, nine of them so far over the last 6 years. I've bought 8 batteries off of eBay sellers, just going with the cheapest. Only had one with a problem, it gave out after 6 cycles. That one was replaced under the warranty by the seller. The only other batteries that have been a problem were Apple branded batteries that started bulging. I've had two of those happen.

Can you tell us more about the battery? How old is the computer? Is it the original battery? Does the unit have Applecare on it or did it recently expire?
From my experience, Apple is usually pretty flexible when it comes to batteries. Typically they'll decline a replacement if the unit is outside of the one-year limited hardware warranty (no Applecare) or outside the 3-year Applecare coverage window. That seems pretty reasonable...
Another scenario is if the battery is considered depleted/consumed. I've had three batteries that as a result of high cycle charges began to expand because they were depleted, not defective.

I have made my laptop for quite a few years now and never had any problems of major severity. I'ce now had a warning saying that I should consider replacing the battery. I have asked for advice and basically I've been told to buy a new one.
The model number of the battery is PA3817U-1BRS. I am trying to find an exact replacement of this online but I am struggling. I am based in the UK and the prices people charge are very high....too high! Can anyone recommend a suitable replacement battery please.
Or provide some general information on what I should do. I need to get this resolved as I work from home on my laptop so cannot afford to mess around for too long.

Does the battery still charge? If so, how long does a full charge last? I have had several of these batteries(C655/C655D's) give this message, but some of them still seem fine. I have one battery that will last 2 hours on a charge, but says that I should consider replacing it. Personally, as long as it still lasts that long, I just keep it.
With that said, I have a few others that last less than 30 minutes on a charge, so they get recycled. As for a part number, the US models use PA3817U-1BRS which is 10.8V, 48Wh.

"Consider replacing your battery" - Satellite Pro C650

Hi,
I recently sent an email to [email protected] to try and sort out a possible battery / battery reading problem on my Toshiba Satellite C650 that I have owned for under a year (is therefore covered under warranty).
Yesterday, I received a follow up call from the Toshiba computer technical support number and was asked to conduct a few tests to see whether they would resolve the problem:
1) Check whether the BIOS version was up to date, which it was (_BIOS version 2.00_) as confirmed by clicking F2 on start up.
2) Uninstall the old version of the program "Toshiba Value Added Package" then go to the mytoshiba.com.au site, enter the laptop model/part number and _download the latest Value Added Package_, followed by a reboot.
I was provided with a reference number to call back with in case these tests didn't fix the problem, however, I do not have a fixed phone where I am and rely on calling with a mobile phone (which is quite costly, especially when being put on hold). I was hoping to receive some sort of help on these forums.
*As the tests did not fix the problem I was encountering, where do I go from here?*

Here are some of the finer details regarding the problem: {pasted from an email I sent to customer relations}
"From what I can tell, the AC adaptor (charger) works fine since it is able to charge the lithium-ion battery that the laptop came with and the orange light at the front of the laptop indicates that the adaptor is plugged in and is charging). However, recently whenever I unplugged the AC adaptor, I received a notice when I clicked on the battery meter icon on the desktop. It says: "Consider replacing your battery. There is a problem with your battery, so your computer might shut down suddenly." There is also a red cross that appears over the battery icon. Despite what the notification says, it appears that the problem may be more complex than that.
Today, I noticed that despite the AC adaptor not being plugged in and the battery meter reading "0%", the laptop did not shut down or hibernate - it remained working. Other times, the battery meter will warn me that there is little charge left and shuts down (sometimes only after 15 minutes). Before I received the notification of "Consider replacing your battery", the laptop battery would last at least 1½ hours without having the AC plugged in. I have also had this laptop less than a year and taken good care of the battery, allowing it to discharge every so often then recharging it after. It makes little sense that the battery now lasts 15 minutes or less.
Since the battery meter was apparently at 0% and did not shut down this evening, I suspect that the problem may have something to do with the Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery or at least the device that reads the battery charge. From my observations, it seems to be misjudging the % of charge and therefore sometimes shuts down prematurely, even though there is more charge remaining than estimated.
I have been following some of the Toshiba support forums (online) and other computer help forums and this ‘battery/battery reading' issue seems to be something a number of other laptop users have/are experiencing, especially when a user installs a Windows 7 operating system on a laptop that was bought with a preinstalled Windows XP operating system. I would like to emphasise that this laptop came with a preinstalled Windows 7 operating system and I have not changed operating systems at any time.
I have also read that users with this problem, in some cases attempted to fix the notification of "Consider replacing your battery" by following the notifications advice and buying a new battery fitted to their exact laptop model but apparently it did not resolve."

Well, in my opinion you should definitely try a new battery.
If all the updates (BIOS, VAP, etc) didnt help then a new battery should be tested. Of course it would be better to test this before purchasing a new battery so maybe you have to get in contact with an ASP in your country and have to clear this in direct contact with agent.
You said that the warranty is valid therefore the notebook should be fixed free of charge. But you should consider that battery is covered by warranty one year long.

Laptop worked very good. In December 2009, I decided to install Windows 7.
All drivers were available so I done it. Windows 7 worked perfect to yesterday.

Before this problem I could works 1 hour and 45 min. Now it is 15-30 min.
I read in some forums in Internet that Windows 7 damage laptop's battery. Is it true?

Surprisingly, I just went to the crash reporter and there were no reports re: the iPhoto issue. This is the only report I found, which I not sure is related to the iPhoto issue:

As for the TimeCapsule indeed, I use it as an extended drive but I'm surprised it would be considered a FAT-32 formatted drive as this is an Apple device.
I asked the apple reps if I could use the TimeCapsule for such purpose and no one raised a concern. It's also surprising that I didn't have an issue with this prior to the upgrade to OS X Yosemite.
Having said the above, thank you for your help - if the TimeCapsule is indeed the issue, perhaps I can solve the issue by transferring the iphoto library to an OS extended hard drive.
