Message reads 'wrong size paper'. it's not.

HP officejet 6500A plus on a windows 7 computer. prints fine using the copier function but when trying to print a page from the computer the paper jams and the message reads 'paper jam or wrong size paper'. it's standard 8-1/2 x 11 white paper. printing problem started about a week ago. nothing new on the computer. i've rebooted the printer and the computer with no improvement.

more information. i reinstalled the software. no change. i tried to print a test page. didn't work. i printed a diagnostic page and that DID work. the information wasn't helpful but it did come off the computer which i haven't been able to do.

I understand that you cannot make copies on your HP Photosmart c6180 printer, and it is saying that you have the wrong paper size. I am happy to help you with this issue!
For further assistance, I will need to know:
If you are using a Windows or Mac Operating System, and the version number. To find the exact version, visit this link. Whatsmyos.
If the printer is connected, Wireless, Ethernet, or USB.
If the power cable is plugged into a surge protector, or directly to the wall outlet. Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector. This applies to Inkjet printers as well.

Printer almost always wrong size paper

I have a HP photosmart premium c309g-m that is giving me fits. It automatically reverts to 4x6 borderless prints no matter how I set it. I want to print coupons online, so I set up the printer for 8.5x11 sheets, choose my coupons, recheck page size for the printer, and when I hit print it gives me 4x6 borderless photo prints. Can anyone help me print the size page I want? Thanks!!! My wallet looks forward to the rewards of couponing!

I have photosmart premium 309g-m my os is vista. Iset print prferences to 4x6 and always---always prints 11x8. I empty the main tray and load only the photo tray and up pops load paper into main tray This is supposed to be a PHOTO printer but it only does documents. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Why am I unable to open my page, message states that I am not connected to the internet. Checked settings, tried unplugging and waiting than replugging. Also tried shutting iPad down, waiting and turning it back on. Worked last night, tried this morning and that's when I got the above message.

First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

Ext HD Crash - Now reads wrong size!

Quick overview:
My external 500GB HD fell off the table and disconnected.
The Mac quickly showed the "HD has been disconnected" warning.
On reconnecting, the drive comes up as unitialised, requesting that I either ignore, init, or eject the drive.
Drive Utility reads it as a 2TB drive!!! (note that its only a 500GB)
Prosoft Data Rescue also sees it as a 2TB drive, and claims it will take 7500 hrs to scan!
The drive appears to turn on fine, makes no noise whatsoever apart from the usual HD spinning sound. No clicks, no pops, no grinding... nothing.
Short of letting Data Rescue work on it for the next year(!) does anyone have another suggestion or helpful hint. About half of the drive is backed up, but the rest are not, and I would rather not lose this data.

Since the disconnect and fall seem to have screwed up the drive so bad that neither the operating system nor Data Rescue are able to recognize it correctly, you only solution might be to send it off to a service that specializes in salvaging data from drives. Of course, that will not be cheap and it is possible they might not be able recover anything worthwhile.

They are new HP cartridges. Haven't used the printer in a long time. Cannot use help, setup, cancel keys. Have disconnected, taken out cartridges, put back in etc. "Use the introductory cartridges that were shipped with your printer" What can I do to get this printer working? Thank you in advance.

Sorry to hear that you are having issues with the cartridges not being recognized by the printer. Please make sure that that printer power cable is connected directly to a wall outlet and NOT a power bar/strip. Ever since my update to Mavericks, my Mac mini won't connect to my wifi network. I reset SMC and still nothing. The error message reads that my WiFi network could not be joined, yet my iPad and Macbook can connect fine. Any help here would be great.

I recently upgraded to Mavericks on my macmini and suddenly it won't connect to my home wifi network. It says I need to move closer to my router whioch is really close and it worked fine before so I doubt this is the issue. Also, my IPad and Macbook connect just fine to the network, so it seems like its localized to my macmini and now funny enough my IPhone. I tried reseting SMC and PRAM, but this didn't help at all. Any helpful suggestions?

this usally happens when the backup you tool was from an old ios version. Two options that you can try is
1. Delete the back up by going to edit> preferences> devices & delete back up on itunes & try backing up again
2. Update the ios software of the iphone4 & then take a back up. then try restoring

When I try to print to a custom print size (2.75" x 6" in my case), I get the same error everyone else is reporting: "Paper detected does not match paper size or type selected. Make sure the paper size or type is correct to continue the job."
I am currently trying to print using Microsoft Word for Mac 2011 version 14.4.5, but I have the same problem with printing from Adobe Reader 9.8.5 or Preview 8.0.
I am running OS X Yosemite 10.10.
My printer's firmware is "up to date" as of 28-Aug-2014.
This is what I did:
1. Open System Preferences from the Apple menu.
2. Click on the Printers & Scanners icon.
3. Click on the + sign under the list of printers to add a printer
4. Click on IP
5. Enter my IP address in the Address field (verified as "valid and complete host name or address")
6. Ignore Protocol field (default is Line Printer Daemon - LPD)
7. Ignore Queue field (default is blank for default queue)
8. Ignore Name field (default is IP address)
9. Ignore Location field (default is blank)
10. Under the Use dropdown menu, I select "Select Software"
11. HP Deskjet 9800 is not an option.
I searched for 9800, but there is no HP printer with that number in the options.
I tried selecting "HP DeskJet 980C - Gutenprint v5.2.3" to see if that would work, but I received the same error message as above. I tried selecting other random HP printers, but so far I've had no luck.
I've been googling about for a way to manually add a printer driver to this "Select Software" list, but I've found nothing (apparently, no one else wants to do this). I did not find a driver download for the HP DeskJet 9800 for OS X Yosemite 10.10 on the Drivers & Software section of the hp.com website.
Additional details on settings for Microsoft Word for Mac 2011 version 14.4.5:
Selected File > Page Setup from menu
Under the Paper Size drop down menu, I selected manage custom size.
- Click + to add a paper size
- Enter "2.75" in width and "6 in" height in the paper size fields.
- Enter "0 in" as the User Defined Non-Printable Area for top, left, right and bottom.
- Double-clicked Untiled in the custom size list and rename the size as Receipt
- Click OK to return to the Page Setup dialog box
Under Settings: Page Attributes:
- Format for "HP Officejet Pro 8600"
- Paper size: Receipt
- Orientation: "tall/portrait"
- Scale: 100%
- Click OK
Select Format > Document and set all page margins to 0.25"

Can you change the size subject field on the voice over for like reading the news paper

i been playing around with the functions on my mac and i discoverd "voice over" a little annoying cause it just verbalizes everything, but i thought it would be kinda cool to have it read me the paper in the morning while i drink coffee and get ready for the day. however it only reads a small suject field one at a time .i was wondering if you can expand the size of the subject field to encompass more text if you know what i mean

You cannot change the PIc size of the Buddy on the Buddy List or in the Messages (Chat) window.
In the View Menu you can turn off the Buddy Pics (Depending if the Buddy List or Messages window is the "Front" one when you use that Menu).

I got it out!
Here is how.
None of the Apple-suggested ways worked. However, before totally giving up I started Roxio Popcorn and pressed the big eject button on it. It came out effortlessly!
So, I thought "Weird..."
I put the CD back in and reproduced my original problem. I got it out just as easily using Roxio Popcorn Eject feature.
So, I then thought "Maybe it is the disk?" There is nothing wrong with the disk as far as I can tell. It is perfectly round, has a smooth label-side surface. It is not even a label, it is a standard software install disk you buy in stores.
I inserted a different disk. The mini mounted it, I browsed it, and then ejected it by dragging it to trash. Worked fine.
I tried a few other disks.
The drive seems to work fine.
Maybe that CD is cursed, I dunno. I tried that disk in my PowerBook and it works fine there.
Who knows ?
I am still backing up my hard drive as I type this message in case I need to take it to the store.

My 7520 won't print on 5 x 7 paper. Says wrong size.

My Photosmart 7520 prints nice 4 x 6 photos but will not accept the 5 x 7 paper. Says wrong size. Any ideas ?

Mine won't even print the sample photo that somes with the software! I keep putting the same sheet of 5x7 hp photo paper in, and it comes out with NOTHING printed. SO annoying. My printer will not print in color either. It's set to color, and the ink levels are OK.

New preview function for iPad–error message "Multiple page sizes not supported"

When I try to use the new preview function with my iPad I get the error message "Multiple page sizes within a layout are not supported". I have a page that is 768 x 1296. I would really like to preview this folio before publishing. Any suggestions?

If you're trying to create an article that scrolls vertically, you can create a 768x1296 article in a 1024x768 folio, but you need to select a Smooth Scrolling option when you create or import the article, or in the Article Properties dialog box.
