Message receipts setting?

Hi, I would like to get receipts for the text messages I send. Others have said to change this in message settings. But the option doesn't appear in message settings. The only options that appear are:
iMessage
MMS Messaging
Group Messaging
Show Subject Field
Character Count.
Whats strange is that my wife has an identical iPhone running the same iOS version (5.1.1) - but her message settings DO include the option to set receipts.

If you are using iMessage and the person with whom your are iMessaging has enabled read receipts, you will get them. You can't enable read receipts for other people and there are no read receipts for standard text messages, it is possible that your wife has iMessage enabled and you don't. Do you both have the same version if iOS? You need to have iOS 5.x to have the iMessage function.

That setting only works for iMessages, and it's an all or nothing setting.

HT204150 Getting error message ("The set of folders cannot be opened") when clicking on "iCloud' folder in Outlook 2007. Lost contacts and calendar in outlook 2007 while installing icloud.

Vista + Outlook 2007 + Icloud : Lost all contacts and calendar in outlook when installing/Synchronizing iCloud. Both still available on iphone and iCloud.
How to get them back in Outlook? Understand iCloud erased them and transferred them in an other outlook account. In Outlook 2007, I can see a folder called "iCloud" but get an error message ("The set of folders cannot be opened...") when clicking on it. I suspect all is there, but no access possible. I assume some Outlook settings are uncorrect, but wonder which settings...?

Well. Working just fine now, since uninstalling and re-installing icloud and syncing.

Error message when setting up Road Runner Email on my new Macbook Pro

I get the following error message when setting up my RR account.
Logging in to the neo.rr.com POP server “pop-server.neo.rr.com” failed. Make sure the user name and password you entered are correct, then click Continue. If the information isn’t correct, you cannot receive messages.
I go to the next steps and everything looks like it should.

You can check the Mail Setup Assistant for the server settings for common email providers. I recommend checking your email settings here first to verify they match what you have in the Mail application:

Keep getting error message "registry setting used by itunes drivers for importing

Keep getting error message "registry setting used by itunes drivers for importing and burning cds & dvds are missing", this can happen as a result of installing other cd burning software". The only software on my computer is original cd-dvd on my hp portable with Vista. My computer now recognized itouch as a camera. Ive uninstalled and reinstalled itunes, nothing changes.

I'd start with the following document, with one modification. At step 12 after typing GEARAspiWDM press the Enter/Return key once prior to clicking OK. (Pressing Return adds a carriage return in the field and is important.)

I have a 7200 BB and I can't get messaging service set up - it was flashed from Nextel to Boost and now SMS nor email is working.

Message receipt failed

Lately on my Samsung Brightside, I get a "quiet" ping and a message that says "message receipt failed". I try to download the message manually and I get the same "message receipt failed" again. It seems to be a picture that is trying to come in. But I also receive other pictures just fine from the same senders.
I asked at my local Verizon dealer, but they had no solutions except to say I really should be using a Smartphone. I don't want a smart phone - I only need to talk and text.
Any suggestions?

I have never been able to download the multimedia message no matter how many times I try. I have usually just deleted them in frustration. I have no issues when sending messages to any of my contacts. Only in receiving mms occasionally. I’m not sure what you mean about how they are stored – they are just in the message thread from a contact.
I currently have one of these messages on the phone from Dec 13 and just tried again to download, but it didn’t work. I rec’d one picture from this contact – then I replied with text only – and her next reply is MMS I can’t download.

Does OS X Mail in Leopard support message receipts?

I haven't upgraded to Leopard yet...there's no compelling reason to do so for my purposes, but I can think of one reason that would make it worthwhile -- namely, if OS Mail in Leopard supports message receipts. Every message I send (in SeaMonkey's mail app) requests a "message displayed" receipt. Alas, recipients who use OS X Mail never even see the receipt request.
For all its other virtues, the lack of receipt support will forever doom OS X Mail to being a mere plaything, not for serious mail users. I mean, OF COURSE you would want to know whether your message was received...DUH! It's incomprehensible to me that Apple has excluded that feature...well, through Tiger, at least.
So, can anyone tell me whether OS X Mail in Leopard supports mail receipts? I can't find anything on the OS X Mail webpage that mentions it one way or another.

Of course you're correct, but floba's observation is a bullseye; I'm well aware of Thunderbird, as a SeaMonkey user (and before that, the Mozilla Suite, and before that Netscape Communicator...back to v4.75 in System 8 and 9).
No question — T'bird is a great mail application. I like SeaMonkey's mail app because of its tight integration with the Navigator browser as part of the same suite of web apps, but that's a matter of personal preference. I certainly can't fault Thunderbird's functionality. Except for browser integration (and of course the skin and layout), it has virtually all the same features that I like about SeaMonkey's mail and newgroups app.
As you might know, Mozilla Foundation (MoFo) originally promoted T'bird as a mail app that "plays nice with the browser"...by which they meant Firefox. I always thought that was a bit odd, because for integration with the browser, there has never been anything better than the evolving Communicator/Mozilla/SeaMonkey suite, in my opinion.
But it's no secret why they took that route. They wanted to break up the Mozilla Suite and repackage the browser and mail apps as standalone programs that could go head to head with Internet Explorer and Outlook Express. Firefox and T'bird are the result. They've been a huge success for MoFo, and they're fine apps in their own right. Ditto for Safari and Mail in OS X. I use Safari often. I'd use Mail more if it supported receipts.
I still give SeaMonkey the edge for my purposes, but my needs are different than most folks. I rely heavily on SeaMonkey's Composer app, which is an invaluable research tool for creating and saving annotated web pages. It's a decent site builder too...and it has been available as the excellent standalone Nvu composer for some years now.

IPhone empties trash although 'Deleted Messages, Remove' Set to 'Never'

My iPhone is set to 'Never' remove deleted messages but it seems to empty my trash daily.
If I set it to 'After one month' then it doesn't delete everything immediately, can anyone help? (It's running version 1.1.1)

I am connecting using IMAP, to my own mail server (Mac OS Server 10.4, fully updated) running on a Mac Mini G4.
Mail.app on my MacBook Pro (and other Macs) connect flawlessly and move deleted email to my Trash folder. I have Mail.app on all these machines set to 'Never delete trash'. I have therefore managed to maintain an extensive history of all my deleted email in my Trash folder without any problems.
However, the iPhone seems to move deleted Mail to the trash folder (correctly) but then deletes everything older than (roughly) one day old, even though "Deleted Messages" is set to "Remove Never".
If I set "Deleted Messages" to "After one month" they are not deleted immediately, I am unsure if they are then deleted after a month.
Any suggestions?

Message Receipt Failure - Multimedia

I have a Samsung Intensity 2 phone with the Family Paln and unlimitied texing. Recently when someone tries to send me a multimedia message (picture) I recieve a "message receipt failure" message, even from another phone on the same plan. I can see the text, jst not the picture. It was working fine...any ideas? Thanks

Try updating your network PRL, *228 option 2.
How large are the pics? Pic size and resolution may affect if your phone can receive them or not. Is your inbox full?
Try doing a battery pull and see if that makes it work any better.

It started today , when i open firefox i get a constant pop up that comes in as a message uninstal set how do i get rid of it???

when i open firefox to go on line there is a message pop up box that says "uninstall set" i will click ok but the pop up continues over and over. i want to get rid of this pop up, can you give me some direction as to how to get rid of this pop up? I have uninstalled and reinstalled firefox, and it still pops up.

Brand Thunder software isn't viewed very favorably around here, due to it including "extras" such as you are seeing.
