Message replies don't include original text-threaded messaging??

I used to have the BB 8520 with T-mobile.  I now have a Verizon 8530.  I am very frustrated with messaging.  I work for a interpreting company that sends out hundreds of texts a day.  Basically, the first interpreter to respond my text reply gets the job.  With my 8530, it takes all the messages and put them in a running folder.  When I respond to the most current text, it does not put a copy of it in my reply, so the company that I work for says, "What job?"  they have no idea.
How can I change something in my phone or what app do you recommend to make my texts all seperate and resend the original post??
I am desperate for this change!  It's starting to hurt my business.
Thanks

Hi and welcome to the forums!,
All I have is a tech note saying they are working on it.
This option changed with the device OS 5.0, not your device.
Thanks,

  • How can I stop Exchange from including previous text in message replies?

This is an issue because many people use "reply to" from their iPhone and the previous messages are included at the bottom of the message. But they are not aware of the earlier messages. Now and again, especially when we have several ".cc" persons, a confidential discussion is messaged out to people who do not need to have it. In Outlook Exchange on my PC, I have this turned off. This means that when I want to include the original message, I select and copy it, then paste it at the bottom of the new message. That is much more secure.
In Nokia Symbian it was possible to leave out the original message. Can the iPhone do this?
    Many Thanks for your help.

There is no setting for this with the iPhone's Mail app - to include or not include the recieved message when replying to the message. The recieved message is included by default.

  • Can I use Messages in OSX to text with a person on an Android platform? My iPhone works cross platform but I don't get the text in Messages on my desktop with OSX 10.8.2

Does "Messages" in OSX 10.8.2 work cross platform? My daughter has an android phone and I can text with her OK in iOS. However, her texts don't show up on OSX whereas texts from my son, who has an iPhone, work in iOS and OSX.

    HI,
The answer is yes and no.
As Barney-15E link says you can get the Messages app to SMS to AIM Buddies.  Or rather telephone Numbers as AIM Buddies.
    There are limits.
The computer has to be set as if in the United States (System Preferences > Language and Text > Region)
The phone is question has to be on a carrier that supports AIM SMS forwarding which only applies to some US based carriers.
The reason the SMS Messages arriving on the iPhone do not sync is that they are not iMessages  (the "No" Part).
I use Messages with the Buddy List Showing.
As a test I have added a made up number as a Buddy and also created a Address Card for it.
So Mousing over the "Buddy" reveal the "Screen Name" which is the phone Number
You have to include the Leading +1 country code as well.

  • Mac Mail: Don't include signature on replies

How do I not get my signature included on email replies?  I'm okay with my signature being on new emails.

    Greetings PietB,
I understand you would like to exclude your signature in email replies. That can be done easily by using the signature drop-up menu while composing a message. You can choose from your created signatures, or select none. This article provides more information which you may find helpful:
Mail (Yosemite): Include signatures in messages
    Include a signature
You can create prepared text, called a “signature,” to include in your messages. For example, you could create one signature with your mobile phone number to use for friends, and another with your office phone number for work. If you use several email accounts in Mail, you can create signatures for each account.
    Create a signature
Choose Mail > Preferences, then click Signatures.
In the left column, select the email account you want to use the signature for, then click .
You can drag signatures from one account to another, or to and from All Signatures. If you create a signature in All Signatures, you must drag it to an account to use it.
In the middle column, type a name for the signature.
The name appears in the Signature pop-up menu in the message header when you write a message.
In the right column (the preview), create your signature.
You can use the Edit or Format menus in Mail to change the font or layout, turn text into links, or check spelling. To add an image, drag the file into the preview.
If you want your signature to appear after the original text of messages you reply to or forward, deselect the “Place signature above quoted text” checkbox.
    Select a default signature
If you created multiple signatures for an email account, you can choose one to automatically add to messages you send from that account.
Choose Mail > Preferences, then click Signatures.
Select an account in the left column.
Click the Choose Signature pop-up menu, then choose a signature.
To automatically alternate between the signatures, choose At Random or In Sequential Order.
    Use signatures
Add a signature to a message: Click the Signature pop-up menu in the message header, then choose a signature. If an expected signature isn’t in the pop-up menu, choose Edit Signatures to open Signatures preferences, then verify the signature is in the account.
Delete a signature from a message: Select the signature, then press the Delete key.
Replace a signature in a message: Delete the existing signature, then add a different signature.
Change the default signature: Choose Mail > Preferences, click Signatures, click the Choose Signature pop-up menu, then choose None or a different signature. If you use more than one email account in Mail, make sure the intended account is selected in the left column.
Depending on how a recipient’s mail server handles signatures, your signature may appear as an attachment or image to the recipient.
If you use iCloud Drive on your Mac and other devices, your signatures are automatically updated and available on those devices.
Thank you for contributing to Apple Support Communities.

  • Cannot Send Text Messages (Unless Text Thread is Empty)

    Hey Everyone,
I recently updated to 3.0 on my iPhone 3G and tried texting some of my contacts, only to find that I could only text some of them.
I found the post here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2045721&tstart=120
and my problem is similar. I'm able to send messages to certain contacts, but some will constantly give me an "Error sending message". For instance, I'm in Canada, and a friend of mine is on Fido, and I can't seem to be able to text her anymore. She can still receive messages from other people, including my brother, who is shared on the same plan, but has not taken the 3.0 upgrade yet. Also, most of my other contacts seem to be textable... just a select few that don't seem to work...
I've tried putting the iPhone into Airplane mode for 15 seconds (as recommended by the Apple website) and have also tried restoring the firmware.
Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    MrWelfare

    Update:
So I just restored to factory settings without restoring the image of my old phone, and it worked briefly, but now it seems that it's fallen back into it's pattern of not working...
    Second Update:
It seems to work perfectly if I delete the text message thread that is created every time I send a new message. (Meaning I can only send and receive one message before I have to delete the thread and compose a new message by browsing through my contacts, selecting a recipient, etc).
If I get more than two (one outgoing and one incoming) messages in the thread, however, it refuses to send any more messages...

  • Replies sometimes do not include original email

Although I have set preferences to include the original email in my replies, sometimes they are not included. Any suggestions?

Do you also have the option to "include selected text?" This will overide the entire message to just what you have selected in the original.

  • IOS 8 - contact's responses to a group message where I am included being placed in individual thread as opposed to the group thread?

Has anyone experienced this issue?  Here's an example of what is happening:
A group message is initiated by my friend that includes myself and 2 Android users.  All of us have group messaging turned on.
Replies from one of the Android users do not get included in the group thread, but in that person's individual thread within Messages.  The other user's replies are included in the group thread.  My replies are also included in the group thread.
If I turn off iMessages within the settings menu, the replies from the Android user that were previously going into the individual thread now are included within the group thread.  If I turn back on iMessages, the replies are separated again whenever they are sent, but only from the one Android user.
Is this a problem with the way the iPhone handles group SMS/MMS messages, or is it an issue with my friend's Android device settings?  What makes me think it's an issue on my end is that things work as intended if I turn iMessages off.
Thanks in advance for any help!

    Hi,
In Group chats in iMessages it seems the iMessages server will not allow you to switch the ID being used for one of the contacts (there is no way to tell if the other people in the group chat know this info and whether the Contacts wants it to be known - at least that is the presumption).
If you want to use his iPhone number then you will have to start a new Chat.
If his Apple ID is on  his iPhone and of course on his Mac then it can be the case that iMessages will "offer" the pop ups to enable the ID again.
I find they arrive when I want to do something else and I have to almost dismiss them  to proceed.
I find that this will activate a Second Apple ID on a second iPhone or the second iPhone number will suddenly appear Active on the Mac's settings for the iMessages account.

  • When I click "Buy Now" in iPhoto's book I get the following message: Your book appears to have default text that has not been edited. Printed books will not include this text. Do you want to continue?"

When I click "Buy Now" in iPhoto's book I get the following message: "Your book appears to have default text that has not been edited. Printed books will not include this text. Do you want to continue?"
How do I proceed?  How do I identify which is "default text?"

What version of iPhoto are you using?
Go thru each page, check the layout to see if there's a text box included on the page and make sure there is text in that text box.  If not it may show the "holding" text like this:
If you don't want to change the page layout to one that only has photos and no text boxes just select that holding text and put a space in its place.

  • Does texting on imessage through free wifi charge you if you don't have a text messaging or data plan?

Ok so I just got a new iphone 4s that's factory unlocked & I was wondering if you texted someone through imessage on wifi, will that charge you any money?
If the person doesn't have imessage? And if they do? Because I don't have a text messaging or data plan.

But what if I don't use the data plan for imessage and use wifi instead?
If you are using wifi, you are not using a data plan. You will not be charged.
And you cannot send SMS over wifi. You can only send iMessages (to people with Macs/iDevices and iMessage enabled).
I was wondering if you texted someone through imessage on wifi, will that charge you any money?
    Messages is the app.
iMessage is type of message that goes over wifi or cell data.
Open the Messages app and add a phone number or appleID, the line to enter you message will display Text Message (and a green Send button) or iMessage (and a blue Send button).
If it's a text message (green) it will be sent as SMS and you will be charged, even if you are on wifi.
If it's an iMessage (blue) and you are on wifi, it will be sent over wifi (no charge).
If it's an iMessage (blue) and you are NOT on wifi, it will be sent over cell data or sent as an SMS.

RESOLVED!!! I logged on to my Straight Talk online account, and did a Tech Chat. They immediately gave me a direct phone number and a Reference PIN number and asked me to contact their iPhone specialty support. I called (of course the gentleman's accent was very difficult for me to understand, but managed with asking continually for clarity). He walked me through several tests, setting changes and had me get on my wifi to obtain the latest APN settings. None of his efforts worked ad it was obviously NOT my Straight Talk iPhone 5, 64GB CDMA (no SIM) - it was something with their setting on their end on my account. I was placed on hold a few times and he would come back on to have me try to get on Safari and even Google... after the 3rd on-hold, he returned and asked me to try to use my data again without the wifi turned on and BINGO it worked... I still do not have my wifi turned on and I'm still receiving texts from YESTERDAY too while I was away from wifi service. IF you come across this issue - please call Straight Talk and/or log on to your Straight Talk online account and talk to an online customer service representative and get their direct line phone number for iPhone support and have your Reference PIN number available. Good Luck
