Message status (reply or forward arrows) gone

All message status signs - arrows showing that I've replies to or forwarded a message - are gone. I can find my reply or forward message in 'sent', but I should be able to have a overview of this in my message display.

"Is this because I'm using IMAP?"
No. I have an IMAP account (MobileMe) and POP accounts such as gmail, and all show the message reply and forward arrow icons.
It looks as though it is not possible to de-select this message reply column.
The only other suggestion I have is to check your Preferences > Accounts > Advanced tab and see whether you have got the "Keep copies of messages for offline viewing" set to "All messages and their attachments".
I was wrong about the flags column in my previous post. Flags only shows the priority I think, and is usually column 1.

  • Truncated Mail Message on Reply or Forward

Despite the fact that I DO have "Include all of the original message" checked, I cannot forward or reply with the complete message.
    Any insight?
    All the best,

    Chuck,
I've had incidences where I have clicked on a closed message in my Inbox (one that has been previously read) and then clicked Reply to discover that the Reply window does not necessarily open with the original message contents. It seems to be somewhat inconsistent though. I find that opening the message first and then clicking Reply or Forward results in the original message contents being included and that seems to work more consistently.

  • Exchange - reply and forward arrow symbols not showing in Outlook

I have a hosted Exchange 2007 account and I am running iOS 6.1.3 on an iPhone 4S.  When I reply to an e-mail, a grey reply arrow shows up on my iPhone.  However, in Outlook, there is no reply arrow.  There should be a little purple reply arrow.  And a little blue arrow for forwarded emails.  Messages that are replied to or forwarded in Outlook or OWA or any other Exchange client exhibits no problems; those little arrows show up everywhere.  The exception is when I reply from Mail on an iOS device.
I posted about this issue nearly four years ago, here on Apple's support site: https://discussions.apple.com/message/9942216 .  As far as I know, to this date, this issue still has not been fixed.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue?  And more importantly, is there a fix that I am unaware of?

In case this is an issue for anyone else, iOS 8 seems to have fixed this.

  • Why are the Back and Forward arrows gone?

In Firefox 4 the most irritating change is getting rid of the buttons for Back and Forward. Others have complained, correctly I think, about the Refresh/Reload icon gone, the Stop button gone. But I really MISS the arrows. I also didn't like having text and icons together in the menu bar, but I figured out how to change them.
So... How do I get rid of the words Back and Forward and get the arrow buttons back?

If you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar set up.

  • Mail Reply/Forward Arrow Missing on Server Received/Sent Mail

Since updating to Snow Leopard, Mail (4.1) does not show the reply or forward arrow after replying or forwarding mail received from/sent to any address on our server at work. All other answered/forwarded mail that does not originate from within my business office has the arrow and shows the reply when I click on it. Interestingly, if I scroll down to mail that was answered/forwarded prior to installing SL, the arrow is there but when I click on it, I receive this error: "Mail was unable to find your reply to the message. You may have deleted the message." Yet the reply is still in my sent folder.

I'm having similar issues, tried trashing the prefs file based on a suggestion in a different thread, but that didn't help. I rely on being able to track replies in mail and this is a big issue; it sure would be nice if Apple would fix all the nagging gremlins in their critical apps (Mail, iCal, Address Book) hopefully Outlook for the Mac will make the issue moot.

  • Reply/Forward Arrows in Outlook 2007

    Hi All,
One of my users is running using an iPhone 4 in conjunction with Exchange 2007 + Outlook 2007.
If he replies or forwards and email from the iPhone he does not the little reply arrow or forward arrow does not appear in Outlook.
Is this a known issue, or even better is there a fix?
    Thanks
    Tony

Has anyone found a solution for this? I wonder if Exchange 2010 really makes a difference. I have seen poste from people using Exchange 2010 & still same problem. If I reply on my iphone 4s, no reply or forward arrows show up in Outlook.

  • Exchange email sync of reply and forward tags

    hi,
We are using Exchange 2007 and whenever we make replies or forwards on the iphone the tags are not updated back to the server to show that the email has been delt with when looking at it in outlook, i.e. the mail icon does not have the reply or forward arrow next to it. When connecting to exchange 2010 the tags appear to update without issue.
    Any ideas?

    Having the same problem.
When i answer from Outlook it is marked as Replied of Forwarded in Outlook only. This mark is not shown on the iPad or iPhone.

  • Mountain Lion Mail Reply and Forward icons

I've recently had to reinstall ML to fix mail problems.  Thankfully all seems back to normal EXCEPT that messages in the column don't show either the reply or forward arrows.  The blue unread dot is working but I don't have the colums at the top of the messages column.
    What have I missed?

left to right in the "new" view of mail you have a mailbox column, a messages column and the selected message content.
In the second column I have the option of arranging the messages by date, flag etc but no indication of whether they have been forwarded or replied to.
    It's not a toolbar issue.

  • Message Status Arrow not showing when forwarding or replying to mails.

When you reply to or forward a mail message the message status shows an arrow sign (straight or curved) to indicate that a particular mail has been addressed. When you click on this arrow you are taken to your reply or forwarded message.
I have a problem here: For most mails this works fine. But when I get mails from within my own organization sent through outlook and when I reply to them the arrows in the message status box do not appear. When outlook is not used and the mail is sent directly from the server.... then arrows are displayed on my replying to these mails.
    Presuming:
My id is [email protected] (user of Mac Mail)
My colleagues are [email protected] and [email protected] (both user of Windows Outlook)
    Pl advise

ditto same problem, although in my case its applied to ALL replied / forwarded emails. The replied message never comes up when you click the arrow.

  • Exchange: forward/reply on iPad does not update desktop message status

When one replies to or forwards a message through Apple Mail, the original message gets a little symbol (a curvy or straight arrow) to show that it has been replied to or forwarded.
However, when replying through iPad or iPhone on an Exchange account, the message status is not updated on the desktop. Replies sent via iPad on a standard IMAP account correctly update the message status however.
Any ideas why it does not work for Exchange?
    Thanks,
    Simon

Oh well, I answered the question myself. The reason (although since not one other person seems to have noticed this issue except me, nobody will really care ) is that ActiveSync on the iPhone doesn't update the message status on the server.

  • Missing icons (ex: replied arrow) in Message Status when I reply from an iPhone

Hi guys. My problem is very simple.
I've a Macbook Air with Mavericks installed, plus an iPhone and an iPad.
As email account I use Gmail in IMAP mode.
When I reply to an email from iPhone, I do not see the replied icon (arrow) in message status of Mail in Mavericks.
    In iPad all works fine.
I've experienced this issue after upgrade my OS to Mavericks.
And for an "intensive email manager" like me is very boring-problem because I've to remember if you're already replied/formarded to an email or not
    Can anyone help me?
    Best,
    Federico.

    Glad it helped.
Its one of those options that you dont need much but comes in handy sometimes. The only problem is they hide it away so good you forget where it is

  • Exchange Activesync, messages replied or forwarded are not marked

I notice with the iPhone that when I reply or forward a message it is not marked on the server as such. So when returning to the office and browsing my messages it can be sometimes difficult to evaluate my status of inbox emails.
Activesync does have this capability, I know it works with all versions of Windows Mobile/Windows CE.
This post discussed the same topic, but I could not reply to it.
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=7635417

The iPhone doesn't support replied/forwarded tags on emails via Exchange.
You can submit feedback to Apple: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html.

  • Problem replying to emails: Message status "message included an invalid address"

Blackberry Curve 8310 on BIS with OWA on in-house Exchange 2003 (sbs 2003).
We have problem sending BIS email since last few days. The problem usually comes with replies to emails and when you open the unsent email (marked with a red cross) the status reads "Message included an invalid address".
    We have tried following so far;
    - Recreating account at Vodafone site
    - Resent service books
    - In Options->Language->Name Display set to ‘First Name Last Name’
    - The ‘Workaround’ from the end of blackberry article KB00035, except the ‘Generate new encryption keys’  part  as our version of Desktop Manager does not seem to have ‘Redirector Settings’ or ‘Email Settings’ options.
We are rather desperate at this point. Any help to resolve this would be appreciated.
    Many Thanks

I have the same exact issue when replying or forwarding from the device. Did you ever find a solution to this?

  • How can I make IMAP message flags (replied, forwarded) update regularly ?

Several Macs are connecting to the same (Citadel) IMAP-server here. The problem is that if someone replies to an existing message the "replied to" flag (little arrow in the message list) is only showing up on the other machines if I restart mail.app on them.
Even manual synchronization via the Mailbox/Synchronize.. does not update the flags. The same applies to the other flags (forwarded, read).
How can I configure mail.app to automatically synchronize these flags ?

I will clarify. I would like to select emails that are either:
Replies to recently sent mail. This isn't perfect, since some messages are not important, so I don't need to know right away that there's a reply.
    or
Replies to specific messages that I would mark as important within Mail.app, somehow. I don't specifically want to mark the messages with an !important flag, since that would impose on the recipient, and there's no way to guarantee that they will reply with the !important flag intact.
I suppose that I might use Contacts groups and add the "currently important" people to a specific group, then select the messages from people in that group, but that is not exactly optimal, since I'd have to maintain that group manually.

  • Finding reply and forwarded messages

When one replies to a message or forwards it, a little arrow appears next to the original email received in the inbox. A neat little feature to allow one to follow thread of messages. Only problem is that most of the time when I click on the little arrow to go to the reply or forward, I get an error message saying that Mail cannot find it and that that message may have been deleted. This is not the case as I usually am able to finally locate the reply or forward in my Sent folder. Any solution for this problem?

    Anybody can help?
