Message stuck in outbox, How do I delete it

I have a message that the server is refusing to allow to be sent,
It was a scam and I was trying to forward it to a Spoof collecting site ( millersmiles)
The facility to close the message is greyed out, I can mimimise it but not close it.
How on earth do I delete this message as I get mail not responding every
time I open MAil.
I can't even view the last part of Activity viewer to see what is going on.
Can anyone help please.
would repairing permissions or anything like that help.
Can't see how but as I run a Freecycle group I need access to my mail
thanks
Shirley

After repairing permissions the fault seems to have cleared in that Mail doesn't hang any longer.
So I am guessing that the first action to take in this situation would be to REPAIR PERMISSIONS
Also by copying the whole of the text into a new message it was allowed to be sent...
Will probably remain a mystery..
have a great Wild and windy Wednesday

Can't send messages using Yahoo on iPad Mini, they get stuck in Outbox. Can't delete messages in Outbox either. Please help, thanks.

Why did you post this in the category "Apple Branded iPod accessories"?!?
Try reviewing your outbox data, SMTP, IMAP, POP3, whatever you are using, you might want to look up Yahoo for more detail.

  • A large email with documents is stuck in my outbox, how can I delete it?

A large email with several documents is stuck in my outbox, it tries to send each time I open mail but it's been in there for over a week and is clearly to big to make it through.  I want to delete it from my outbox, how can I do this?

Sounds like you constipated your email program!
Here is the Ex Lax:  Go into the Outbox and swipe Left/Right on the message.  A red DELETE button should appear.  Tap it to clear the message.

  • Messages stuck in outbox when using "Send to Mail recipient" and outlook is closed

A user who uses RPC over https all the time on his desktop in the office. In general
he has no problem to send/receive emails. But when he tried to send a File through right click - > send to -> Mail recipient , New Email window opens and He changes
the subject and add receipt and send email when outlook is close. The email stuck in outbox.
any idea and how to fix it?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
As what Roady says, it is an expected behavior. This is because the
“spooler” which is something that manages the MAPI transports is working when Outlook is running. So when you sending messages when Outlook is not running, there is no spooler running, and so nothing is going to send your mail. The next time you launch Outlook,
you will see the mail in the Outbox.
For more information about this behavior, please refer to A trip back in time—the evolution of Outlook part of the following link:

  • Messages Stuck In Outbox Vanished Into Thin Air

I sent a bunch of important messages to my e-mail when browsing Safari, but for some reason they weren't going through and were stuck in my outbox. Now all of a sudden all those messages are nowhere to be found in my mailbox, and I know I didn't delete them.Would an update wipe them all out?Is there any way to recover them?I don't understand why all of a sudden they are gone.I have looked everywhere for them.

I had an excellent Apple support agent named Luis who helped out. Re-installed the account partially. Discovered that there is in fact a bug in Yosemite. The mail client in mac will not save the outgoing server address and confusion amongst different mail account happens, added to outbox messages stuck. Hopefully Apple will correct bug in later OS X version. Case number 753401346

  • Mail won't quit and messages stuck in Outbox

Having a very strange problem with Mail on my father's Mac Mini. It is not my computer so I'm not sure what has lead to this, but Mail will not quit, and every message we try to send gets stuck in the Outbox. The version running is Mac OS X 10.6.8, and the version of Mail is 4.6 (1085).
I have tried removing all messages from the Outbox and then deleting Outbox.mbe. This hasn't worked.
Has anyone else had this problem?

Yes. Yes and yes. I don't want to sound like a broken record in these threads, but I got rid of Mac Mail shortly after 10.6. It became unstable and unreliable. I gave it another go with 10.8.1 and it was still a problem. IMHO it is a very weak client mail app.
Finally I had peace in going for a web client (gmail) and problems went away.
Just yesterday I spent hours on an unsolveable mail problem on my neighbors iMac. I finally just signed her up for gmail and imported address book and her old email server address. Simple.

  • Messages stuck in Outbox in Outlook

We are running Exchange 2007 SP1 and Outlook 2007 SP2.
We are increasingly recv'ing reports of users having messages stuck in the Outbox folder of their Outlook client. The messages are also visible in OWA, although the strange thing is that the messages do seem to have been delivered.
There seem to be a multitude of posts about this issue, but nothing concrete - does anyone know if MS has found a fix for this?
    I can see this:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/948984.
    However, it states:
"In this scenario, when you log on to the online account that uses this personal folder, the Outbox folder indicates that there is a message that is waiting to be sent. This message is visible only in Outlook Web Access. The message is not visible in Outlook 2007"
    - The difference is that we see this in Outlook 2007 as well.
    Anyone?

    Hi Yoshi,
    1. Would you please let me know whether your customer has same scenarios described by the KB (Move Sent Items from OST to local PST file) when the issue occurs?
    2. Whether the issue always occurs and can be reproduced? If the issue can be reproduced, please let me know the steps which reproduced the issue
    3. If the issue can always be reproduced, please let me know whether the issue occurs if you use OWA to send email or use Outlook Online Mode to send email.

From the Mail menu bar, select
              Window ▹ Connection Doctor
Click the Show Detail button. A drawer opens. Try to send one of the messages and post the text that appears. Anonymize any personal information before posting.

  • Messages stuck in outbox but really sending many t...

I have an E63 and just in the last few weeks whenever I try to SMS people the message is automatically sent to the outbox saying it will be resent at such and such a time for up to a few hours (unless I delete the message) but people are receiving the SMS multiple times without my knowledge (as my phone still has the message in my outbox). I have tried deleting all messages on my phone, taking out the battery, SIM card and memory card but none of that seems to work and I'm really not very keen to reset to factory settings for fear of losing all my **bleep** lol help!!

Oh. I did use that code (then spent an hour trying to turn my phone back on!). It deleted my phonebook and since I'm **bleep** in checking that numbers are saved to my sim card... I wasn't very impressed. It seemed to do the trick, I can text again. I'm getting rid of the phone now though - I read on these forums that quite a lot of people have had the same kind of issue with the e63. Maybe I'm just a brat but I expect a phone to work properly for at least a year before giving me grief, especially a Nokia. I've only had it for 8 months!!

  • TS3276 i have an outgoing message that is too big and is stuck, but I can't see my outbox. how can I delete it?

    Help
I have tried to send a big message that now seems to be stuck. The outbox has disappeared so there's no way of deleting it.  How can I access the outbox to get rid of it?

I clicked on an add for Firefox that appeared on my in box. Up came a window saying that I can't access Firefox from my IPad. I can't get rid of this window as there is no x or Done feature.

  • Can't delete message stuck in outbox

My wife tried to send a message to several hundred recipients last night and the .Mac mail server choked on it. The problem is that the list of intended recipients is so long that it goes off the bottom of the screen and I can't close the window. We have to force quit Mail to exit it (the red button to close the message window is greyed out) and, even though I deleted the outgoing server Mail is trying to use from the accounts list, it keeps trying to send the message. Does anyone know how I can get rid of this thing?
For a hilarious Exposé screenshot, you can go to files.me.com/holtfam/whts6e
    Help. Thanks.

With Mail closed, locate the file in Finder and drag it to the trash.
    ~/Library/Mail/Mailboxes/Outbox.mbox/Messages/the message
As the outgoing mail server is not located on your Mac, taking that action would not disable the 'sending', more probably compound the problem actually as it can't send.

  • Droid Maxx- Outgoing email messages stuck in outbox. When you click on them, it says- message is being sent and cannot be opened- how can I clear them out?

This is my work email. I still receive emails. I just can't send any outgoing. They are stuck in the outbox. When I check my email on my computer at work, nothing in the outbox, and they don't show as being sent. Log jam. How can I remove them? Already did a restart, etc.

I have had the same problem - stuck for 2 days, but I still can send & receive emails. I tried your suggestion - it worked! Thanks!
