Hi All,
How can i get a Message type corresponding functional area?
For example : MATMAS---- MM
I have 900 message types i need Funational areas of all these Message type. Please let me know if we have any table or functional module to completes this task.

  • Port, Message type and Function Group

    Hai,
Iam working on an inbound process for four different Partners.
Is there any need of Port for Inbound?
Shall i use the same message type and Idoc type?
And what about the function Group?
    Thanks
    Avi

    Hello,
<b> If the functionality is same , you can use the same function Group.
If functionality is different , you want to use different Function Group.
Obvisouly, it is suggested to use different Message types .
If you are using same fields ,you can use the same idoc type.
depends on the scenior , the process code is needed. Generally no need.</b>

  • Idoc types & message  types

hi friends,  please can  somebody  post  different  kinds of Idoc types  and  message  types  used in sd , from   sd's  point of  view. and  also  explain  giving  examples  if you could. thanks
points will be awarded    for  sure .  thanks
    seema  roy

    Dear Seema,
concerning EDI concept in SD: the EDI concept is intended to realize the sales and distribution process completely automatically with the help of electronical documents. These documents are sent from one customer to another, are processed mostly on the background and give a possibility to realize the sales process extremely efficiently.
If MM-customer would like to purchase the goods then he creates the IDOC of type ORDERS and send it to SD-customer. On the SD-side the IDOC is processed via the function module IDOC_INPUT_ORDERS and creates the sales order. As confirmation the SD-side can send to MM-side the Order-Response IDOC (function IDOC_OUTPUT_ORDERS). The MM-customer can every thime send a change to the existiong order, then on SD side the ORDCHG IDOC will be processed. It can change the order like in VA02. The creation of the invoice can be made via IDOC of message type INVOIC (function IDOC_OUTPUT_INVOIC).
So, the process can be realized completely automatically between SD and MM partners with the help of IDOCs: ORDERS, ORDCHG, ORDRSP, INVOIC.
    That's all concerning the SD-EDI.
Additional processes in SD, where EDI are used:
    1) application of delivery schedules to the scheduling agreement: IDOC of type DELINS
    2) creation of a delivery order to the scheduling agreement: IDOC of type DELORD
    3) creation of external agent service delivery to scheduling agreement: IDOC of type EDLNOT
    4) creation of credit advice / credit memo in the frames of self-billing: IDOCs of type GSVERF, SBWAP and for external invoice creation SBINV.
It is all processes which are realized in the SD module via EDI.
There is not so much Customizing for EDI. The most entries are required by EDI for the scheduling agreement processing (DELINS, EDLNOT, SBINV). The Customizing of these processes is located in the Customizing of scheduling agreements: SPRO => Sales and Distribution => Sales => Sales Documents => Scheduling agreements with delivery schedules => Control EDI Inbound processing.
General EDI Customizing in SD is available under: SPRO => Sales and Distribution => Electronic Data Interchange => EDI messages => ...
    I hope this info helps.

I am new to XI but i have involved in XI project. I am having a question like we need DATA TYPE as it contain the whole structure we need  MESSAGE INTERFACE as it will say whether the communication is SYN ,ASYN , INBOUND , OUTBOUND or ABSTRACT. But Why we need this MESSAGE TYPE, what is the use of this. Please don't show me the links. I hope there is a specific purpose for MESSAGE TYPE. Help me out to figure out that purpose

    hi,
Interface editor: The Interface editor provides us to create
    Data types
    Message types
    Message Interfaces
Data type: To define the structure or schema as how many fields and what fields are required by the application system. Basically a .XSD file can also be imported in Integration Repository using External Definitions available in Integration Repository. Data types are the abstract in nature that are not fixed to an element.
Message types: A message type is an envelope which encapsulates data type. Message type corresponds to the root of the XML message.
Message interfaces: The basic purpose of message interface is used to define the direction of data flow i.e. whether inbound or outbound.
It also defines the mode of transport whether Synchronous or Asynchronous mode.

  • Types of fault message types

Can someone tell me the different types of fault message types available in XI?

    Hi,
    Fault Message Types
are used only for returining messages form the inobund side (application)
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/dd/b7623c6369f454e10000000a114084/content.htm
if you want to create error handling for a mapping
you can use transformation step (in a BPM)
add a block and catch the mapping error inside this block
(and for instance send a file from this exception branch
Refernces Fault message types for the Exception handling .
Fault message types corresponding to the standard SOAP Fault type can be included (execepted in the outbound Asynchronous case)
A fault message is a message that describes an application-specific error situation.
Fault message types are designed for application-specific errors that occur on the inbound side and that are reported back to the sender or persisted in monitoring.
    · In the synchronous case, when an application-specific error occurs on the inbound side, instead of sending a response message back to the sender, the application can send a fault message to handle the error.
    · The fault message of the application for an asynchronous ABAP server proxy is persisted for monitoring. In the case asynchronous of Java server proxies, the fault message is part of a negative application acknowledgement (see Acknowledgments).
Application-specific means that the application on the inbound side triggers the error itself because, for example, the request message did not contain sufficient information.

  • Message type and datatype

    Hi all,
what is the differnce between data type and message type?
    regards,
    keerthi

    Hi,
Data type defines the structure of your xml message.Message type is the wrapper of data type. You will be using your message type while mapping and not the data type. Its the abstraction concept used in oops
A data type in a programming language is a set of data with values having predefined characteristics. Examples of data types are: integer, floating point unit number, character, string, and pointer.
The characteristic of columns and variables that defines what types of data values they can store. Examples include character, floating point and integer
    Check out the details:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Data_type
A message type comprises a data type that describes the structure of a message. At the following points in SAP Exchange Infrastructure you can refer to the message to be exchanged at runtime by using the message type:
    details:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/2d/c0633c3a892251e10000000a114084/content.htm
    2) Regarding the difference between XI 3.0 and PI 7.0, this threads will clear your doubts:
    difference between XI 3.0 and P.I 7.0
Difference/ changes from XI 3.0 to PI 7.0
data types just define the abstract XSD structure . but since In XI we are using XML langauge. so We need a Root element in our message. that root element is added by Messagr type.
means data type is just an abstarct structure and message type add root element to data type.
and one message type corresponds to one data type only............

  • Custom Search Help for Functional Area of Cost Centre(KS01/KS02)

    Hi,
I need to implement a custom search help and custom enhancement for the field Functional Area in Basic Data tab of Cost Centre Create/Change(KS01/KS02) transactions. Details of the requirement are as below:
    1. There will be a custom relation for the Cost Centre category and Functional Area which was maintained thru a SAP standard table TKA05 and a custom table.
2.When the relation to Cost Centre category and Functional Area is a one to one it exist in the TKA05 and if its one to many it will be maintained in the custom table.
    3. The requirement is when the Cost Center to Functional area is maintained in table TKA05(One to One) in this case the corresponding Functional Area needs to be populated automatically after entering the cost centre and pressing a enter key by user.
4.When the Cost Centre Category and Functional area does not exist in table TKA05 and existing in custom table(One to Many) in this case the F4 should be enabled for user selection with the list of Functional area values corresponding to the cost centre category entered that are maintained in the custom table.
As per the functionality provided by SAP the input help(F4) of the field Functional area in Cost Center does not have any relation with Cost Centre Category. The existing F4 is from the Value Table(TFKB) attached to the domain of FKBER.
Please provide your valuable inputs to implement the above requirement. Your input will be rewareded.
    Thanks in advance,
    Regards,
    Prasad.

    kalyani,
i can see your requirement in below way..
as it just reads: you need to assign the standard cost center help to a z cost center field in component /SAPSRM/WDC_UI_DO_ACC.. which actually is fetched though the component /SAPSRM/WDC_UI_BACKEND_SH
so, if you see the component controller of SAPSRM/WDC_UI_DO_ACC you will see the component
    USAGE_SH_F4     /SAPSRM/WDC_UI_BACKEND_SH
    USAGE_SH_F4     /SAPSRM/WDC_UI_BACKEND_SH     INTERFACECONTROLLER
so you can replicate the same functionality for your z field.
but can you clarify one thing.. why are you going for this z field in place of standard field ?

Looks like the destination which is used by your EG has default settings,
particulary the RedeliveryLimit param. If it is set to -1 (default setting)
WL will try to redeliver the message forever in case of any error. Just set
it to something else. You can also specify an ErrorDestination and hadle
    error messages specifically in it.

  • [HR] About message type HRSM_D

    Hi to all
As a migration issue I was asked to migrate personnel absence records (infotype 2001) data from an SAP 4.6 legacy system to an ECC5 system. Actually, I have no PT knowledge but I want to use HRSM_D message type to transfer data through LSMW. Does anyone know any FM or report filling this IDoc structure like "RH_OBJECT_IDOCDATA_CREATE" does for HRMD_A?
I would welcome any other ideas for migrating 2001 data through LSMW as well.
    Thanks

    Hi Suresh
Thank you for the answer. The BAPI you've mentioned belongs to BO 'ABSENCE' and it has no ALE message type in standard. I do not want to genarate, either. Besides, it is obsolete as of Release 4.6A. However, it may be replaced by BO BUS7007.
Actually, what I want is an outbound FM handling the HRSM_D message type.
There are more than one legacy system and this way is prefered by the client.
    Thanks

  • What is Message Type & IDOC Type?

    He Experts!,
What is Message Type & IDOC Type? What is the difference between them?
    Thanks in advance.
    Sekhar

    Hi,
    Please try these transaction codes.
WE82 - Message Type and IDoc Type
WE64 - Process Codes (Inbound and Outbound) for Message Type.
Message type. A message type represents the application message exchanged between R/3 systems and R/3 and an external system. A message type characterizes the data sent across systems and relates to the structure of the data called an IDOC type (see below). For example, MATMAS is a message type for Material Master, and INVOIC is a message type for an Invoice (Billing Document). ALE supports over 200 message types in R/3 and about 200 application areas.
IDOC type and IDOC. An Intermediate Document (IDOC) type represents the structure of the data associated with a message type (DEBMAS02 for message type DEBMAS — Customer Master, and WMMBID02 for message type WMMBXY— Goods Movements), while an IDOC is an object containing the data of a particular message type. IDOCs are data containers with intelligence built in. Each IDOC contains one and only one business object. For example, an IDOC of type SHPMNT01, message type SHPMNT, will contain data only of one Shipment Document. Generally, the architecture of an IDOC is independent of the message type by virtue of ALE’s ability to redefine it for any message type.
Use transaction BD64 or the following menu path to maintain the model: From the IMG (Implementation Guide), Cross-Application Components -> Distribution (ALE) (*) -> Distribution Customer Model -> Maintain Distribution Customer Model Directly -> Maintain Distribution Customer Model Directly.

  • Fault Message Types

    Hi experts
i have a following scenario. the scenario is SOAP to XI to ECC, and from XI to ECC RFC's are being used. i have doubt about the fault message types?
what are fault message types and why should they be created???
for the above required scenario does"fault message types are to be created or not" plz let me know.
    Thanx in advance

    Hi,
    >>ii have doubt about the fault message types? what are fault message types and why should they be created???
    According to help.sap.com http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwpi71/helpdata/EN/dd/b7623c6369f454e10000000a114084/content.htm
Fault message types are designed for application-specific errors that occur at the provider (inbound side) and that are reported back to the sender or persisted in monitoring.
    1) In the synchronous case, when an application-specific error occurs on the inbound side, instead of sending a response message back to the sender, the application can send a fault message to handle the error.
    2) The fault message of the application for an asynchronous ABAP server proxy is persisted for monitoring. In the case asynchronous of Java server proxies, the fault message is part of a negative application acknowledgment (see Acknowledgments).
    >>for the above required scenario does"fault message types are to be created or not" plz let me know.
You can send the exception of RFC in Fault message type. (Provided the RFC raises an exception)

  • Serialized distribution of message types

    Hi all,
I have heared about serialized distribution of message types ?
Do you know of any tutorials, help (but not helpsap.com)
    regarding this topic ?
Have you ever used serialized distribution of message types ?
What are the pros and cons ?
    Would you recommend it ?
    Cheers

    Hi all,
I tried several things and the problem is still not resolved. This is what I learned.
First of all, I believed the SAP message about mixing of internal and external message is misleading or even wrong. I tried with both message types being external but I still get the same message that the interface has one internal and the other external message type.
Secondly, since Arvind suggested that I might have used an xml element that is not currently supported by ABAP proxy, I then change to another definition with the most simplest elements. I then attached this other definition to the interface and tried generating the proxy again. I still get the same system message that I am using mixing of message types in one interface.
My conclusion is XI still is not capable of generating ABAP proxy from external definition.
Does anyone have any comments/suggestion/experience on this issue?
    Best regards,
    -michelle

  • Is it Message Type (MT) is reusable?

    Hi
Is it Data type and Message Type (MT) s are reusable? if reusable can you give me brief explanation.. why it is? if not why?
Could you please give the reply.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Coti

    Hi Coti,
DATA TYPE:is the smallest representation of data in XI.
A data type is an XML Schema Definition (XSD). This definition determines how the valid payload of a message will look. Data types in XML schema are only an abstract description of a structure that you can assign to elements in an XML schema definition. A message type or a fault message type that references a data type determines the name of the root element of a message.
there are 3 types of data type:
    1)Built-In Type
    2)Simple Type and
    3)Complex Type
    MESSAGE TYPE:
A message type comprises a data type that describes the structure of a message. It comprises exactly one data type, which determines the content of the message to be transferred. It is identified by a name and an XML namespace. The name (together with the namespace) of a message type is located in the uppermost tag of the message to be exchanged.
For example, imagine the data type called "address". In your company addresses are not just used in advance shipment notice, but also in purchase order. Your benefit from using - or reusing, as the case may be - the same data type can be used in multiple messages. As you combine multiple data types into groups, you create message types
More than one message interface can use the same message type. For example, an asynchronous outbound message interface and an asynchronous inbound message interface can reference the same message type because the request message does not need to be mapped.
