I can't sync music and get an error message when I plug in my iPod
I've had my iPod for a year or so, and mostly things have been fine. The battery-life was dying more quickly than usual, so I went to the Apple Store and got one of the salespeople to help me. They told me to Restore the iPod and see how it went from there. After a complete fiasco with that, I keep trying to plug in my iPod to update my library. However, when I plug it in, the iPod only flashes the charging button, and iTunes is unresponsive and sluggish for several minutes. Then a message pops up that says "The iPod 'iPod' cannot be synced. The required disc cannot be found."
I have repeatedly gotten this message and really don't know what to do. Any help would be appreciated......You can also try out few things >
1) check if the ipod constantly appears in mycomputer section .
- if it does try changing the drive letter of the ipod and try to format the ipod drive(Right click format)
2) if its not comin up in mycomputer then.. there has to be problem with the USB drivers in your computer
you can try

The best way to check whether the ipod is faulty or the computer is creating the problem is,
connect the ipod to a different computer which has itunes on it(If possible) -
ITunes has a weird error message when I plug in my iPod Nano
I need help really bad. So my problem is that one day I sat down at my computer and downloaded 2 songs on my iPod Nano(1st generation) and then I took the iPod off the dock and all the songs were gone on the iPod. That has happended before so I figured that I could just put it back on the dock and download all the songs again, like before. I put the iPod back on the dock and iTunes opended...I waited and waited. Then a message came up and said "iTunes cannot read the contents of the iPod. Use the iPod Updater to restore the iPod to factory settings." I have tried everything. Restarted my computer, searched for help on apple's support section, etc. Someone please help me!

What does "This ipod can not be used because the apple mobile device service is not started" mean. After I updated my Itunes I get this message when I plug in my Ipod and it doesn't come up in Itunes.
If you are using Windows 7, go to:
Control Panel>Programs>Programs and Features
Look for a program called 'Apple Mobile Device Support'
Right-click on it
Click 'repair'
Wait until the repair operation is complete, and voila, your problem should be solved, itunes will recognise your iphone/ipod once more. This worked for me. -
i've got a new computer and when i plug in my ipod, the message says this ipod is synced with another itunes account. do you want to erace the contents and set up with this itunes. i want one account only but don't want to loose my ipod contents. tried uninstalling itunes and redoing get the same message.
Copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.

Here's an article to help troubleshoot when your iPod is detected but not identified.

When I plug in my iPod Classic, it is visible in My Computer, but iTunes gives an error message saying "The software required for this iPod is not installed corectly. Please reinstall iTunes to install the required software." It started completely randomly and now does it every time. I completely wiped out iTunes and reinstalled it via the intructions from this website, but it is still doing the same thing. Furthermore, when I go to Start, All Programs, the iTunes folder contains no data AND the desktop shortcup does nothing when clicked on. I have to go to Start, Run, and type in itunes.exe in order to run the program. Can anyone tell me what is going on?
Do one or more of the following
> Restart your computer
> Uninstall & Reinstall iTunes
> Reset iDevice (won't erase everything)
> Go to My Computer (windows xp) or Computer (windows vista & 7) and see if iDevice shows
> Restore the iDevice completely (will erase everything)
> Make sure the iTunes and/or iOS firmware is up-to-date.
The ones I cross over is the ones you don't have to do. This should help -

When I plug in my iPod to iTunes to sync i get an error message
I get this when I plug in my iPod to sync now: The iPod "joanleigh's iPod" cannot be synced. an unknown error occured (13019). I don't know what would happen that suddenly i can't update my playlists on my iPod. What should I do?
Even though it refers to iOS devices, it should or could still apply to your iPod Classic.
