Permissions repair complete
any ideas?

Access Control List - ACL.
The message merely means that an ACL was found with respect to that item although Disk Utility did not expect to find one. This can happen for any number of reasons. If you actually change permissions for something that is checked when you repair permissions, then that message may appear. It may appear because an installer has made some ACL additions that DU did not expect to find.
You will only see this with respect to /System/ and /Library/ files and folders because Repair Permissions does not traverse the user's account folder.

  • Time Machine makes full backup after permission repair.

I am struggling with this a couple of months but now I am sure. Each time I do a permission repair of my hard drive, Time Machine makes a full backup of roughly 200G. In this way my Time Machine disk can be full rather quickly. I seem not to be able to prevent this. Anybody having the same issue? Or, even better, having a solution? Thanks, Pierre

    Thanks for your reaction.
    No, only 10-20.
I do permission repair once every 4-6 weeks more or less as a kind of maintenance. No idea why but it happens to be like this.

  • Warning message after permission check, repair

When I repaired permissions, I got this message; Warning:SUID File "system/library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent" has been modified. Do I need to do something about this?

There is nothing to worry about or do; see this Apple article:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1448
FWIW, I usually get at least 10 or so.

  • Had this message after disk repair

    Hi
My imac has been running really slow so i did a repair on the disk with utility, everything appears fine and it repaired various things, however, i got this message
warning:SUID file system/library/coreservices/rem...RDAgent has been modified and will not be repaired
    Should i be worried.
    cheers

Look again. The ninth item on the list is:
Warning: SUID file "System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAg ent" has been modified and will not be repaired.
In Disk Utility, that message may be truncated to fit into the window & look exactly like what you reported (except for capitalization):
warning:SUID file system/library/coreservices/rem...RDAgent has been modified and will not be repaired
To see the full, un-truncated version, either hover the pointer over it or check the Disk Utility log.
It is on the list & can be safely ignored.

  • ITunes will not start even after permission repair, disk repair.....

Let me continue plst files, deleted old install and re-installed, downgraded version, ran disk warrior, tried new user account. Backed up everything re-installed fresh OS, still did not start, installed update plus latest version of iTunes. Still does not start. Called Apple support, did the usual permissions repair etc..... Ran Apple Hardware Test no problems found, TechTools Deluxe no problems, MemTest no problems.
On hold now waiting for Apple support again. I am assuming at this point there is a unknown hardware issue. Any ideas?

You really went the extra mile trying to pin down the culprit! So.... who was the culprit anyway? which hub? the keyboard acts as hub, was this powered or un-powered, too? which would be of interest.
Instead of hub, maybe a PCIe USB2 card?

  • Message after repairing permissions on MB wit Leopard

Warning: SUID file "System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAg ent" has been modified and will not be repaired.
This message came after I repaired permissions on MB with Leopard - any idea what it means and is it important or not - something to do with Remote Management which was selected at start up - can tis be deleted or removed and what is remote management anyway - I was not aware of it being in the Tiger OS version beofre I upgraded.
    Thanks
    RC

It's normal. Other people are getting it too. Just disregard it for now.

  • Warning Message after repairing disk permissions

I received the following warning after running Repair Disk Permissions:
Warning: SUID file "System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAg ent" has been modified and will not be repaired.
My computer has been crashing a lot. Apple ran hardware tests and everything appears to be running OK. Could this message hold the key to my problems?

Probably not, please read this Apple Advice Letter:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1448
However it would be very beneficial if you provide more information about the circumstances and specifications of your iMac to determine why it's crashing. Also if you are running Activity Monitor to check and see how much FREEE RAM you have and if there are any processes taking up a lot of % CPU.

  • Permission repair is overflowing after downloading iTunes. Why?

Before downloanding iTunes 11.1.3 on my MBP, 10.8.5, I ran permissions repair and there were no entries. After the download, I ran DU, permission repair, again and found hundreds of permissions listed. Is this something to be concered about?

    lcreel wrote:
At this point, iTunes appears to work fine.
    Good.
    lcreel wrote:
In the past I had the same issue with 11.1.3 and permissions  repair/restart had no effect on reducing or eliminating permission errors.
That has been the way of things for the last few OS Xs.
As long as the Repair is Complete... all should be fine.

  • Disk I/O Error - Persists after Apple repairs MBP

    Hey,
A few weeks ago my MBP (13 in, 2.26GHz Core 2 Duo, 160GB HDD, 4GB RAM, OS X 10.6.2) was telling me that I was unable to save to my internal HDD because it was "full or write protected". After a restart, I was able to save. About an hour later I encountered the same problem. I restarted again only to have my system hang up at the screen with the apple logo and the spinner at the bottom. I let it sit for nearly 20 min and it never booted. I attempted a disk repair, permission repair, reinstalling the OS, erasing the drive, partitioning the drive, booting in safe mode, fsck, and restoring from a time machine backup without any success. In verbose mode, I kept getting a "disk I/O error". I ended up installing the OS on an external USB drive and booting from that and everything worked fine, leading me to believe that the internal drive was dead or dying.
My laptop was under warranty so I called up Apple and informed them of the situation. I sent them my laptop to get repaired. I had it back in a few days. I looked at the service report that was in the box and saw that they replaced the internal HDD with a new one with 10.6.1 on it. It also said that my mac passes all hardware diagnostic tests. I booted up my laptop and it failed to boot up. Again, it was getting stuck at the screen with the apple logo and the spinning gear. I tried all of the things that I tried the first time (see above) with not success.I checked and I was still getting a "disk I/O error". I don't think that the internal drive is failing because it's brand new and I can boot from my external and use finder to navigate through the files on my internal drive (and even open them up).
I am completely out of ideas. I plan on calling Apple back up but would like to see if anyone online can help seeing as Apple was unsuccessful the first time. It appears that the drive is functioning properly but I can't boot from it.

    Hello,
Found your topic when searching for answers to a problem I'm having. Seems like our problems may be very similar if not the same.

  • Disk permission repair

Repair does not fix extremely long list ....multiple runs end with Permission Repair Complete but the list is long and the same, sample of one item below....all items start with "ACL found but not expected..."
ACL found but not expected on “Library/QuickTime/AppleIntermediateCodec.component”
    Repaired “Library/QuickTime/AppleIntermediateCodec.component”

At the bottom of your list is the key...
    Resolution
You can safely ignore these messages. You can also usually ignore any "ACL found but not expected..." message. These messages can occur if you change permissions on a file or directory; they are accurate, but generally not a cause for concern.
I did change the permissions after the Time Machine restore and that has probably caused this event....thank you...Paladin26

  • Permission repair been running for almost 2 days now? What happens if i stop it? What to do? Please help. Thanks in advance.

My imac wont start up after it asked me to restart the system. Prior to that, a message showed saying i dont have enough space on my start up disk. Now after i restart, it wont go pass the gray screen at start up with the apple logo. I restarted it several times, unplugged power from wall and still wont go pass the gray screen. I am now start up with the installation disk that came with imac and running permission repair( read it from other posts). Permission repair says 8 min till completion and its been running for 2 days now. What else can i do? What happens if i end permission repair and do repair disk? Will disk help solve my start up problem? Please help :( Thanks in advance...

You shouldn't be running Permissions repair booted from the install disc, in the first place. Stop it, shut down and Safe Boot. Hold Shift key down at startup chime. Give it longer to boot than usual. If you can get it to boot up, you must delete some things to make room. Likely candidates are in your home folder, music, movies, documents, pictures. The Safe Boot will, if possible, repair your drive.
If you don't want to lose them completely, you need to move them to an external drive. You should maintain at least 15-20% free of drive capacity.
You will likely have introduced real errors by repairing Permissions booted from the install DVD. You can fix them by running Permissions repair if and when you are in Safe Boot.

  • Is frequent - lengthy - permission repair logs, common?

I purchased a refurbished Mac Pro 2012 from Apple last summer, but have only had it out of its box, and operating for about a month.
    Issue:
I have conducted four permission repairs.  Each time, the log of the repairs is massive, always surpassing 100 pages (MS Word document).  I am concerned, because I have never had this issue with my G4 or G5 towers, so, I do not know what to make of what is happening.
I conducted another repair last night after using a DVD to transfer files from my G5, and then restart.  The repair permissions are 146 pages .  At the beginning is a message about something it could not repair.
    The message:
Warning: SUID file “System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAg ent” has been modified and will not be repaired.
Message was edited by: MacPro_OSX10.8   _  sorry.   I do not know how I ended up in the Macbook sections.  This about the Mac Pro Tower.  I have been trying to cancel this so I can move to the correct section, but not finding the delete button.

Found the answer to the SUID.

  • Weird message in Disk Repair - talks about 2 disks & I only have 1

    Hi All-
When verifying my disk and permissions I kept getting errors that it couldn't be done and I needed to repair my disk. I finally broke down and slapped in the Mac OS X install disk (panther) and restarted, went into Disk Utility and tried to repair the disk.
When complete, I got a message like this:
    Volume "Scrumptious" was repaired
    Repair Attempted on 2 Volumes
    1 HFS volume was repaired
1 disk could not be repaired
Scrumptious is my Hard Drive's name, btw. So the odd thing is that I only have one disk. Of course the CDRom was in there, too, so I suppose it could have been referring to this, but that seems odd. I'd think Apple smart enough to make a CDRom that would know it was a CDRom and not try to fix itself.
Anyone want to offer any interpretations for me? Clearly the hard drive was not repaired since the permission repair still doesn't work, so is my only resort to fly to the nearest Apple Store and sign up at the Genius Bar?
    With gratitude,
    Matthew

Since you've installed Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger), according to your profile, you should use the Tiger install disk to attempt a repair on your drive.

  • I'm getting an error message after importing a table through Dreamweaver into a page developed in Muse.

I'm getting a couple of messages after importing a table through Dreamweaver into a page developed in Muse. I have compared the code of the page with the table with the page before I inserted the table and cannot find anything missing. the web address is http://gourmetdreams.com/weekly-menu.html
How can I clear this up?
I also noticed that when I uploaded the file there was one error: "- error occurred - Access denied.  The file may not exist locally,  may be open in another program, or there could be a local permission problem."

Thanks for your help! I imported the table into Muse, then exported the site as html and opened it in Dreamweaver. I should've tried that in the first place but gave up when I couldn't edit it in Muse. I didn't know you could edit the html right in Muse. Also, my styling and the images I was using weren't showing up in Muse but once I opened it in Dreamweaver, everything fell into place. AND I could edit it! My client needs to edit this page every week, so I needed to be sure she could do that. She doesn't use Muse but does use Dreamweaver. At this point, I think I'll leave it alone and not try to style it with inline css. Maybe when I get a little more time, I'll try it. I just don't want to mess things up now that the're working.
