Messages default with texting window closed?
Is there any way I can make Messages default with the Messages texting window closed. I use the ichat features only and the Messages texting window is irritating. Any thoughts...

This has been fixed. Answer is that I needed to go to "Apple Software Update" and repair it. (From my Control Panel).

On my timeline I had white titles and at the end a green title with a parcially transparent background.
When i restarted the project my titles were green and the end titels were black without the transparent background. And one of the music track was set to minus 96 db.

My problem has been solved by my son this afternoon.(The Netherlands, Europe) I had already tried trashing the preferences and cash files and reinstalled FCPX twice. My son could only think of one other thing we could trash and that was the proapps folder. I my case this solved the problem.
I used the built in title templates. No third party.

Extended search by default with closed SC actived as well??
Hi,
Does anybody know if I can put Extended search by default with show also closed SC actived as well.
Could I put a customer field in first place in the search criteria??
It might be done using screen variant or BADI? or I should modify templates or standard code.

when I installed iTunes 10.6 to windows 7, during the process i got this message -" There is a problem with this windows installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run" and after that the setup closed automatically. Plaese tell me if any setting up of windows is in order.
Try looking at the two previous discussions listed on the right side of this page with your same question.
Also, try searching/posting in the iTunes forum since you do not have an iPod problem. -
I was promted to upgrade to the new itunes version today (11.0.2.26), but wish I never had as the previous version worked just fine!! I have been unable to install the new version and keep getting the message about there being a problem with the Windows Installer package. I tried following the instructions on this support pages on removing all Apple programs but that didn't work either!! I have Windows 7 64 bit and am close to throwing my PC out of the window!! Quicktime will not re-install correctly either...

Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:

Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe, and select "Extract to iTunesSetup". WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup".
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi to do a standalone ASU install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If not, what error message do you get? (Precise text, please.) -
Problem with Java scrolling text window on Mac OS
The Java scrolling text window created by AWT "TextArea" scrolls in the normal way from the top on Windows, whereas it scrolls from the bottom on the Mac OS. That is, the text file is first displayed from the bottom on Mac, so that the user has to scroll to the top of the file each time a new page is opened, which is a very nuisance. Have you run into this problem and do you know how to over-ride the Mac OS default? Many thanks.
TextAreas suck in general, this has been discussed many time in the forum. As a duct-tape fix, you might play around with setCaretPosition() after inserting your new text. Good luck

Ocassional slow start up with Preparing Windows message
I have a new Toshiba C855D Satellite laptop that came with Windows 8.
On about three ocassions now, when I turn on the computer to boot up, it takes a lot longer than usual... then eventually it shows the message "Preparing Windows." After that happens I get on and see my front page/start screen almost empty like it's in a default state with just Toshiba icon and some other few things.
I sign out and resign onto my user name and everything is back to normal.
I think the last thing I did prior to this last incident happening was using Windows Update, then shutting down after it was updated/installed. Could this be related?
What is causing these two issues (long boot time with Preparing Windows message, then the having to sign out and sign back in to access my regular start screen/desktop,etc?

So this is an out of the ordinary problem and not some Windows update/Win 8 issue?
We don't know. But a new machine should just work. I returned a Windows 8 machine to Best Buy recently for problems very much like you described.
You don't need another drive. Restore the machine this way.
Settings > Change PC settings > General tab > Remove everything and reinstall Windows

i a unable to download the latest itunes 10 for my 4S iphone, a message appears saying that there is a problem with the windows installer.

Two ringtones with text messages
I recently reset my phone to factory settings (due to the phone not ringing for incoming calls and the Smart Profile issue). I changed my Notifications ringtone to one that comes with the phone, but now whenever I get a text message, it plays the ringtone I selected AND the Droid ringtone. Is there a setting that I missed because it didn't do that before I reset the phone?
I think i have a solution.
By default the text message ringtone is set to be the same as your notification ringtone you chose on the main settings.
Go into your text messages program and press menu for the settings. here you can change the text ringtone to be different than the notification ringtone you chose on the main settings.
So..if those 2 are different you may hear both. One for the text message and one as a general notification. I am waiting for someone to text me to see if i'm right.
Check to see if you have them set to be different tones. -
Closing a Swing App with Window Closing Event With Dialogs On Close
A while back I started a thread discussing how to neatly close a Swing app using both the standard window "X" button and a custom action such as a File menu with an Exit menu item. Ultimately, I came to the conclusion that the cleanest solution in many cases is to use a default close operation of JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE and in any custom actions manually fire a WindowEvent with WindowEvent.WINDOW_CLOSING. Using this strategy, both the "X" button and the custom action act in the same manner and can be successfully intercepted by listening for a window closing event if any cleanup is required; furthermore, the cleanup could use dialogs to prompt for user actions without any ill effects.
I did, however, encounter one oddity that I mentioned in the previous thread. A dialog launched through SwingUtilities.invokeLater in the cleanup method would cause the app to not shutdown. This is somewhat of an academic curiosity as I am not sure you would ever have a rational need to do this, but I thought it would be interesting to explore more fully. Here is a complete example that demonstrates; see what you think:

Assuming this "cleanup method" was called in response to a WindowEvent, it's already being called on the EDT.
IIRC, my approach to this "problem" was to set the JFrame to DO_NOTHING_ON_CLOSE. I create a "doExit()" method that does any cleanup and exits the application (and possibly allows the user to cancel the app closing, if so desired). Then I create a WindowListener that calls doExit() on windowClosingEvents, and have my "exit action" call doExit() as well. Seems to work fine for me. -
I have been having to change my email messages to plain text alternative in order to read the font. Can I change the default somewhere?
Maybe I need to try a different route. I was able to change the font settings for the general mail. I am now thinking it is a problem with Safari or the internet browser. I am seeing the bubble font only on messages that contain pictures ~ When I click to view the full message in the browser, the font changes to a readable font.

I replaced my iPhone with a Samsung Galaxy5 and I am not receiving all of my text messages now. The rep at the store told me to go to iTunes and take my phone # off of the account and that would fix the problem. Is that true? What does iTunes have to do with text messages anyway?
You need to remove your phone number from the iMessage system.

Perhaps let's first try updating your Apple Software Update.
Launch Apple Software Update ("Start > All Programs > Apple Software Update"). Does it launch and offer you a newer version of Apple Software Update? If so, choose to install just that update to Apple Software Update. (Deselect any other software offered at the same time.)
If the ASU update goes through okay, try another iTunes install. Does it go through without the errors this time? -
Apple wireless BT keyboard with TEXT MESSAGING?
I know that I can sync the Apple wireless bluetooth keyboard with the my iPhone 4, but I just want to verify that it will work with text messaging, in addition to the usual email, etc. apps. Frankly, that's the main reason I need it. I messed up my elbow from texting so much. I don't want to, but I MUST text a lot, so I figured I'd get the keyboard to save elbow injuries. Sounds silly -- lugging around a wireless keyboard in order to text... but it actually wouldn't be so bad. I do a lot of texting from my house, anyway.
One more thing -- The wireless keyboard can only be paired with one device at a time, right?The Bluetooth keyboard will work with the messaging application.
I know I always turn the Bluetooth off on the iPhone so when I pull out my keyboard it is a bit of a pain in the ***. Granted I only use it with long emails on the road that would take an hour to write with the keyboard on the iPhone, so it's not too bad. The iPad dock keyboard will also work with the iPhone and iOS4.x so if you need a keyboard and don't want to deal with the Bluetooth than that is an option too, just a thought.
As far as the Bluetooth keyboard goes it can only be paired with one device at a time.
