Messages don't display in chronological order. Why?

Sometimes messages about a week old appear at the bottom. While messages from today appear higher up. Why?
Conversation is with person from Europe while I am in US.... if this has anything to do with it.
Submitting picture. As you can see old messages are between messages that were sent Today.
Thanks

  • How do I make email searches display in chronological order?

There must be something obvious I am missing here, I am hoping someone can tell me what I may be doing wrong.
I have several packages that just shipped via UPS over the past week. I get quite a few UPS packages and the tracking alerts are over several email accounts.
I go to my email to search for UPS so I can get all the tracking numbers, but as I've noticed since iOS7 was installed, my search results come back completely in a random looking order.  There is no coherence to the dates.  The first one is from March, then they jump back to 2011, then one of my recent ones is shown as Wednesday, then back to 2012, etc.  There are hundreds.  Even when I specify an email box instead of searching all email the same thing happens - all seemingly in random order.
Why can't I just see them in chronological order as I used to? Do I need to specify something different in search, or change some setting?
Thanks for  any help! This has been annoying for awhile but today it's gone from annoying to really bothersome because this is such a basic function and I just had to spend ten minutes going through my email manually since at least it's chronological - I would have been there all day using the search function.  I know I must be missing something.

Try a reset: hold down the home button along with the power button until you see the Apple, then let go.

  • Email messages don't display in thunderbird message pane but wdseml file is good.

There are some email messages that don't display correctly in the Thunderbird message pane.
Either the pane is completely empty or chunks of html show up in the pane.
I checked the actual email file stored in:
    C:\Users\Dave\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\d976yxfm.default\Mail\pop-server\Inbox.mozmsgs
and it looks good, as the Windows 7 explorer window is able to show the email message cleanly in the preview window.
When I click on "View Source", it shows the wrong source file, I think.
The text in the "view source" window doesn't match the text in the ".wdseml" file at all.
Note: I recently migrated my C drive from a spinning hard disk to an SSD, perhaps this caused the weirdness? But, most of my email messages do display correctly, just some of them are hosed.
    Any ideas how to fix?
Currently running Windows 7, 64 bit, latest update from Microsoft (as of 3/13/2014).
    Thunderbird version 24.3.0.
Thanks for any help you can offer.

Windows still has a command processor.
    So no need for bash.
type CMD into the search box to locate it
If you can use bash I assume your familiar with CD to change folders.
One little thing I use to save typing is I locate the folder in Explorer, click beside the path so it changes to a C:\ based item and use Ctrl + C to copy it and paste it into my CMD session. CTRL+V does not work, but edit on the windows system menu does.
To rename the files, navigate to the folder they are in and Copy *.wdseml *.eml
once you do the import return and del *.eml to clear out the duplicates from the first step.

  • HT4362 How do you get your photos from iPhoto to display in chronological order?

Anyone know on the new apple TV how to get your pictures in screensaver mode to appear in chronological order? Currently it's all working but it jumps around randomly.

Boo! I guess my 1st Gen Apple TV will remain my main TV device. Thanks for the reply.

  • Captivate 3 - Error messages don't display

My slides have click boxes with errors attached. Error options are set to Pause for Failure caption.
Click box is postioned on the TOP of the timeline, and should be active, with a caption too, once the voiceover finishes.
Caption and click box displays but when I intentionally click elsewhere the error will not display.
Blue buttons in the RHS panel execute javascript but have no pause and no options defined for them except display for rest of slide.
    Appreciate any suggestions thanks.

No answers here and I am wondering why. I have read past discussions about "Failure captions not displaying" and have noted all
the suggestions but still have not been able to get them working.
Click box is the uppermost (top) item in the timeline...and they are positioned after the slide voiceover so I would have thought there was sufficient time for them to become active.
Getting a little desperate about how to fix this.
    Happy to try anything.

  • 10.5.2 - Mail hangs; generally sluggish; messages don't display

Since upgrading to 10.5.2, I'm experiencing various issues with Mail.app:
    • It takes a long time to launch, and often hangs without ever fully launching, requiring a force-quit and relaunch.
    • After launching, there's a general sluggishness throughout the app. The initial "checking for mail" sequence takes forever -- sometimes never completing.
    • Often, items I select take far longer than normal to display; messages I select aren't displayed at all; or mailboxes I select -- mailboxes that say they contain messages -- will display no messages. (This behavior is sometimes accompanied by the spinning beach ball, but not always.)
    • I sometimes have to force-quit and relaunch 3 or 4 times before I can actually use the app.
Users on other forums have reported similar issues. Has anyone discovered a fix for these issues?
Otherwise, Apple, we really need assistance, here. Needless to say, this is severely disruptive to our workflow and everyday lives.

My issue turned out to be for more complex than I realized. In addition to Mail.app's sluggishness, all of my syncing (calendars, contacts, mail, bookmarks, iPhone) had also ground to a halt. In System Preferences>.Mac, I was unable to even select the "Sync" tab. (Doing so "crashed" the System Prefs window and made the processor run hot, which made the fan come on.) So, with Activity Monitor, I traced the problem to the Sync Server.
A search, here in the discussions, led me to several users who had identical symptoms after installing Leopard or a Leopard update -- but no solutions. Finally I went to another Apple-related forum and found a solution. Someone there wrote:
+"trashing the ~/Library/Application Support/SyncServices/Local/ folder did it... Usually touching that folder brings good karma..."+
It seemed like a radical move, because on my MacBook Pro that folder contained over 500 megs of data (although I now suspect it was abnormally bloated). But I had everything backed up, so here's what I did:
    1. I moved the folder, referenced above, to my desktop. (Note that "~" indicates your home folder.)
    2. Restarted my macine.
    3. Opened the .Mac preference pane, then clicked "Sync"
(Note: Previously, clicking "Sync" had been causing the Prefs window, so just being able to bring up that window was a huge victory.)
    4. Clicked the "Advanced" button, selected the MacBook Pro, then clicked "Reset Sync Data" and made sure that I was replacing data on .Mac with the data from the computer (which I knew was good data). In other words, I made sure that the animated arrow was moving away from the computer and toward .Mac, indicating the direction of the data transfer.
(The folder I deleted in step 1 contained a lot of sync data. So without step #4, I was concerned that .Mac -- with its data having been deleted -- might have interpreted that as a signal to delete the data on the Mac. So I performed step #4 to make sure that didn't happen.)
    5. Then I clicked "Sync now."
This was the first time I'd gotten sync to work for at least 36 hours. Also, after the sync was completed, the new "Local" folder, which replaced the one I deleted, only had 62 megs of data. Hence, my suspicion that the deleted folder was abnormally bloated.
So far so good.... I've got sync, and Mail is launching much more quickly now. Fingers crossed, but everything seems to be working well.

  • PS CS2 Camera Raw files don't display in numerical order - is there a fix?

If I select a number of .NEF files in the finder and double click on them or drag them onto the PS CS2 icon, when the preview images are displayed vertically along the left side of the Camera Raw window, they're not in numerical order. That is, if the files were 001.NEF, 002.NEF, 003.NEF, etc... though 50, the order might be: 10, 5, 24, 43, 12...
It makes it difficult to choose between multiple versions of the same subject when they're not right next to each other. It's not the end of the world, but it is a little obnoxious. I haven't been able to find any preference or option to change this... is there anything I'm missing? Does anyone else get this?
    I'm on a Mac G5 running 10.4.11 and CS2.
    Thanks for any help,
    Connal

    Jim + Jeff,
Thanks for the clarification. I know that in Bridge you can choose to sort files by pretty much whatever you want. It just seemed odd that if you just open files directly in PS (as far as I can tell) there's no way to adjust the order in which they display.
Oh well, if Bridge is the answer, then Bridge is the answer.
    Thanks.

  • My TV Shows Used to sort in Chronological order, but now???? Help.

I have an entire series on my iPod, and it used to display in chronological order. Then I upgraded to the iPod Classic, and now they display in alphabetical order. The sub heading for each show reads, "no release date for this program", but there isn't a place for me to manually type in a release date. Why can't I sort them by episode number, like on the 5th Gen iPod?

check out http://www.lostify.com for an awesome script for iTunes that allows you to edit every aspect of the ID3 tag that your mp4 or m4v files have. Once you download the script and install in iTunes, you'll see a Lostify menu option. Highlight the TV show(s) that you want to edit, select Lostify and you're all set. You get to input the release date, episode numbers and lots of other information that you can't edit with the basic information screen within iTunes. Once done, it will rewrite your file with the new ID3 tag information and when you sync the shows to your ipod, they will all show the release date and be organized accordingly. Enjoy!

  • IPhoto 9 v. 8.1.2 How do I arrange my pictures in chronological order?

    iPhoto 9 v. 8.1.2
    OS X 10.8.5
    Hi
In any iPhoto window, my pictures don't layout in chronological order. I would like them to. I need to look at my pictures and see them in the sequence in which I took them. In the Mac Finder, there are many choices given for how to arrange files and folders. The one I would like to have for iPhoto is "Date Added".
How do I arrange my pictures in chronological order?
    Thanks

    Terence,
OK. I see that now. Thanks.
I looked up DSCF. There doesn't seem to be a consensus on just what the acronym means.
Digital Still Camera Fujifilm. I'll take this since my camera's a Fuji.
Digital Storage Compact Flash (digital camera)
Choosing "sort by title" seems to work to layout the pictures chronologically (Attachment 1.). The title appears to be the DSCF followed by a number and the number sequence represents the sequence the pictures were taken in. This is also my recollection of what sequence the pictures were taken in.
What I don't understand is "sort by date" (Attachment 2.) "Sort by date" throws all that DSCF sorted by title out of sequence. I can't figure out what the pattern it is that's created here. Where is Iphoto picking up it's dating data, and why are the DSCF numbers out of alignment?
    Attachment 1: Sort by title
    Attachment 2: Sort By Date
    Thanks for your input,
    Rafael

  • Display Albums in Chronological Order in iPod

    Hi,
I was wondering why albums appear in alphabetical order by deafault in iPod and there's no way to organize them by year to display them in chronological order.
Perhaps there is a way to do so and I haven't figured it out yet (besides adding the year to the album name, i.e. naming 'A Hard Day's Night' -> '1964 A Hard Day's Night')?
Is there another way to bypass or alter iPod's method of organizing album lists?
I know there have been several discussions on the subject already but I haven't found any solution yet and I'm sure others are looking for one as well.
    Thanks in advance,
    David
    iPod Nano 2GB   Windows XP

yeah well thanks for your dismissive reply
    but I don't agree -
when you initially browse by "Artist" on the iPod,
then 'drill down', you are presented with a list of that
    Artist's albums.
Maybe I'm an anal aspergerated mentalist, but on my shelves
at home, I generally have my CDs in alphabetical order
by artist, and then within that, in release order.
It's logical and what I'm used to seeing.
When I go into my Kraftwerk stash on the iPod,
I don't wanna see "AUTOBAHN" first in the list cos it begins
with "A", I wanna see Kraftwerk, Kraftwerk 2, Ralf und Florian, then Autobahn [substitute your own favourite artists here]
Moreover, never mind what I think, iTunes also thinks it's a useful way to display things,
since it already lets you do that - so why can't the iPod
do it too? it's all in the metadata...

  • Math fonts don't display in mail messages?

For some reason when I receive a mail message with math - fractions, equations, etc. these characters don't display.  My husband has an iPhone 4 and this isn't a problem on his phone.  I am wondering how I can get these characters to display?
    Thanks

    Hi markatos
    Hi Rick Van Vliet
I have the same problem, and I can also (only) underline text.
Since upgrading to Tiger (10.4.8) from Panther 10.3.9, I have experienced a few daft functional problems, eg the 'Enter' key not working on the calculator (the standard one, not the Dashboard version). This turned out to be a '.plist' problem.
Mail was marking all outgoing mail as 'Junk' ... '.plist' problem again.
But I cannot see how to sort this one ... at the moment I am having to format text on a Stickie then paste it into a Mail message in order to do simple things like bold headings (I don't need any more than this really). So the 'Font' palette is working. Message format is set to 'Rich Text'.
    Any ideas anyone?
    Help will be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    Paul
