Messages is driving me nuts - HELP
I am a very technical person. Software and web app developer that has worked with Apples for 20 years.
I simply cannot figure out what the h@ll is going on with the Messages. Nothing syncs correctly between iPhone, Mac and iPad.
I send a message from my mac to my wife. She gets it on her phone and not on her mac. If she replies, I get it on my mac, not on my phone. If she sends from her mac, I get it but under a whole new chat on my Mac, so I am having 2 conversations.
Here is my setup :
Mac Mountain Lion Messages :
Bonjour and AIM disabled.
iMessage enabled.
3 emails enabled ( [email protected], [email protected], [email protected] )
send read receipts enabled
Start New conversations from xxx.me
Nowhere is there an option for my cell number
iPhone 5 :
iMessage enabled
Send Read Receipts Enabled
Send and SMS Enabled
Send and Receive same 3 emails and my phone number
start new conversations from [email protected]
MMS messaging Enabled
Group Messaging Enabled
Show Subject Disabled
Character Cound Disabled
My wife's is setup exactly the same with her iCloud account.
Anyone got a clue how to get this to work correctly.
OK... I am not going to say that this is 100% solved yet becasue I have thought that before but after messing about the whole morning this is what I found.
The iPhone 5 settings above are correct and must be setup first. On the mac, you must SIGN OUT of your iMessage account. Messages > Preferences > Accounts. Select iMessage and click "sign out"
Quit Messages and then relaunch it. Now sign back in to messages at the same place.
Suddenly it pops up with a message that now has the phone number (as well as the emails) as one of the places to receive messages. This never happened before.
Now make sure that Start Conversations From is set to you primary iCloud account. usually [email protected], not the phone numbers. Must be the same as the iPhone and iPad.
Close preferences.
Final step and I don't know if it's required but I closed all conversations and started fresh with new chats.
Now everything appears to by syncing perfectly and instantly.

JanAbout 5 days ago for no apparent reason at all, about
7000 songs which i have collected over a number of
years has just decided that it wont play in ITUNES or
in any other of my media players. When you click on
Play over a song nothing happens. The play icon
doesnt even come up on the screen.
Steps I have taken so far are:
1 - Remove all tracks from ITUNES and then re-add the
folder where all the songs are. This has obviously
removed all songs, but when I have re-added the
folder , it has added about 650 tracks back on to the
playlist. These 650 tracks will play. This leaves
approx 6400 tracks that it wont play.
By the way all the songs on my PC are MP3 type and I
have had no problem playing any of them until last
week.
2 - I have re-installed ITUNES and reinstalled
Quicktime and that has not worked.
3 - All of my songs are backed up on to a External
Hard Drive. I have tried to restore the songs and
also play them directly from the external hard drive.
I get the same problem when I do this.
4 - I have enabled and allowed all permissions for
the account that I am running the PC from.
I am guessing there must be some settnig or Registry
Key that is blocking me playing the tracks from the
PC. I have also tried to launch the songs in Media
Player and Sonic stage but thsi has not played
either.
All the tracks are in the folder structure as they
were before so I know they are there. I just need to
somehow unlock them.......
If anyone has any ideas, I would be very grateful as
I dont want to lose my entire music collection.
Also I cannot find anyweher on here that is a Support
number or email address for Apple as this is an
ITUNES issue and they should be resolving it for
me!!!!

Itunes producer error message is driving me nuts
Hi,
I'm almost at the end of my rope with this problem. Why is uploading to iTunes so difficult? I've created an epub file in Sigil which tests ok in Sigil and FlightCrew. But when I try to upload it to iTunes, Producer keeps giving me this error message:
ERROR ITMS-3000: "Line 98 column 54: character content of element "file_name" invalid; must be a string matching the regular expression "[^./: ]+([.][^./: ]+)+" at XPath /package/book/assets/asset[2]/data_file/file_name"
I've gone through the Sigil contenopf file looking for strange characters but can't find anthing (I've even changed the document copyright sign to (c) just incase). Can anyone tell me in plain simple English what this error means and how I can fix it?I know pretty much nothing about producer (never heard of it until your post). I do notice in the other forum one one line of code produces a smiley symbol which suggests there's some invisible character or code that's at least generating this in a web browser. It's not position 54 though.

EMERGENCY!!! HAVE A SUNDAY DEADLINE AND IMOVIE IS DRIVING ME NUTS-HELP!
OK HERE IS THE DEAL..I USE IMOIVE FOR MY BUSINESS CREATING DVD'S FOR BUSINESS AND VIDEO SCRAPBOOKING...I HAD 6.0.3 AND JUST DUMPED IT TO REINSTALL IT TO TRY TO CORRECT A GLITCH.
ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT I HAVE TO GO BACK ALL THE WAY TO 6.0 BECAUSE O1 THRU 03 ARE UPDATES! THE PROBLEM IS THAT I WENT TO APPLE AND THEY ONLY HAVE 6.0.2 AND 3 AND NOT 6.0 OR 6.01 TO COMPLETE THE SERIES OF DOWNLOADS.
I ALSO FOUND 6.0.4 THAT THEY CAME OUT WITH FOR THE ****** OFF 08 USERS BUT I INSTALLED IT AND IT DID NOT CORRET MY PROBLEM..
WHICH LEADS ME TO THE ORIGINAL ISSUE...
I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH A GLITCH THAT OCCURS WHEN LOADING PHOTOS INTO 6.0.3 THAT CAUSES THEM TO DISTORT EVEN BEFORE PUTTING IN TRANSITIONS (EXAMPLE --- PUT IN A WEDDING PHOTO OF A BRIDE AND IT LOOKS LIKE SHE HAS A BLACK EYE AND A FAT LIP!)
I THOUGHT IT WAS A TRANSITION ISSUE BECAUSE WHEN YOU PLAY IT BACK WITH TRANSITIONS THE MOVIE WOULD START WITH THE PHOTO LOOKING OK THEN JERK DISTORT IT AND THEN JERT AGAIN AND BE OK RIGHT BEFORE THE NEXT TRANSITION.. THAT IS UNTILL I SAW THE PHOTOS LOADED INTO 6.0.4 RIGHT AFTER DOWNLOADING IT...

<Edited by Moderator>iMovie 6.0.4 is supposed to be exactly the same as 6.0.3. Apple released it under the .4 number for download for those who purchased iLife08 and did not have any previous version of iMovie 6 on their computers.
Have you tried deleting iMovie's preference file? Go: Home(YourUserName)/Library/Preferences/com.apple.imovie.plist
With iMovie closed, locate and drag this plist file to the trash. Reopen iMovie and see if it works properly.
If you think the problem might be with iPhoto, you can trash its plist as well: com.apple.iphoto.plist
To reinstall iMovie 6.0.3, you need to locate your original iLife 6 disks and use those to reinstall. If iLife 6 came preinstalled on your computer, you should find it on the software restore disk. You may need to download and use Pacifier to extract and reinstall iMovie 6.
The combo 6.0.2 update (available on Apple's support site) will update from 6.0 to 6.0.1. -

Whenever I try to open an Adobe file I get this message:

My delete button in my to do's closes the app. I've closed all the background running apps and have restarted my phone and even tried syncing to my iTunes. It's driving me nuts. Please help!
Will not complete a sync without crashing and saying cannot read to the device or something to that effect.

Then update it to new email address. Creating a new AppleID is usually not a good thing as anything on your old account will not be transferred to your new account.

Restoring it will not delete it.
You need to turn it off (Settings > iCloud - Delete account then re-enable it with updated AppleID.
This is the ONLY way you can do it. -
I forgot my original password..my ID was disabled..I did factory restore through iTunes..I was sent email from apple with the 2 step recovery..I had followed instructions only to find one part that asked for my old password before I could re set a new one !
It's driving me nuts..it's ridiculous and I'm still unable to use any apps or face time..

DRIVING ME NUTS...PLASE HELP!!!
This is driving me nuts. Now, whenever I render or scan(forget what the function is called when you slide the mouse on the timeline to view the clip), MY COMPUTER SHUTS OFF! Then, when I turn it back on my imported files are mising and swapped. For exmple Clip #3 will play back as Clip #45..HELP!!!!!
More info please... Format, sequence settings etc...
Could be dodgy Ram... in which case, shut computer down and remove Ram sticks one by one until problem goes away.
Could be corrupt render files... Did you have to render your sequence? If so, dump all render files and re-render.
Could be corrupt media files/directory... When you scrub through the timeline, does it crash at the same point? Try to see if there is one particular clip that causes issues. If so, remove clip from capture scratch and re-capture.
Firstly though, before anything... Have you tried trashing preferences? -
Hi everyone. I am trying to download ML on my iMac and when I click the download button, I am asked for my PW which I provide and then the ML icon launches in launchpad but nothing takes place. Have been trying for 2 days and this is driving me nuts. Help
Yes it does and there is an indication that the software is downloading but after a few hours, it just stops without any error message. Everything simply disappears and I need to start over again. I have a superfast connection so it should no be this slow. Everything worked fine on my MBP and I am in the same place. Any ideas

Every time I turn on my laptop about half a dozen previous documents open up and I have to close them before I can begin. Can anyone help me prevent this from happening as it's driving me nuts!
First thing to (un)check:
When you shutdown/restart, there's a dialog box which confirms your request. In that box is a little checkbox which you should uncheck.
