Messages not appearing in sent mail folders

We recently migrated from a linux environ to mac server snow leopard. I'm now using Thunderbird as a testbed for my mail client as we have deeply populated mac mail clients that we don't want to disturb if our migration goes bad. Previously, I used both the mail app on mac and Thunderbird as my mail clients depending... Previously, when I would send a msg from my blackberry it would appear in my sent mail folder (on any mail client). Now it does not. Any suggestions as to why? Thanks.

Can you see the sent message when using webmail on the server? If so you may just need to map the sent area of each mail client to the proper folder on the server, assuming you are using IMAP.

  • ICloud Mail Sent with iPad Not Appearing in Sent Mail

    Hi Everyone,
For for the past few days, the email messages that I've sent with my iPad using my iCloud address do not appear in the iCloud Sent mail folder my iMac. But if I send an iCloud mail using my iMac, it does appear in the iCloud Sent mail folder on both devices. This problem does not occur using other IMAP accounts on my iPad. What's going on?
The other thing that may be relevant is that there appear to be two Sent mail folders that appear in the iCloud account on my iPad. One is Sent with the paper airplane icon and the other is Sent Messages with a folder icon. On my iMac, there is only the Sent mail folder with the paper airplane icon. Curiously, on the iMac have see some sent messages from both of those sent mail folders from the iPad.
I'm now concerned that some important iPad messages may not have been sent, and I now must backtrack and resend them.
    Regards,

Most mail servers can be accessed in a web browser as well as in Mail. For iCloud, you go here:
    iCloud Mail
    Check for sent messages.

  • Mail & Exchange - Sent Messages not appearing in Sent mailbox

Once setting up an Exchange account in Mail everything seems to be working fine except that when I send any emails they don't appear in the "Sent" folder. When I log in under webmail they do appear. Anyone else find a solution to this problem?
    Thanks for any help.
    K

I'm having my own share of problems with Mail 4.2 and Exchange Server 2007. See this post.
In addition to the Junk mail problem, I'm experiencing overall sluggishness. Mail takes longer than it should to quit, and sometimes I get the spinning pizza Loading… icon on simple text messages. I wish I could go back to re-configuring my Mail account to be POP instead of the auto discovery Exchange method.
As to the Sent mail problem, I am not experiencing that issue. I don't know if this will help, but go to your Exchange account configuration in Mail, click Mailbox Behaviors, and under Sent check "Store sent messages on the server" and for "Delete sent messages when:" choose Never.
My Sent messages all show up in my Sent folder in Mail, but they take a second. From what I can gather, these messages are sent to the Exchange Server first, and then downloaded by Mail. An unnecessary step, I feel, but I guess that's the way Exchange Servers work.

  • Sent mail does not appear in sent mail folder

Hi. Odd problem. I have done a search for this but can't find an answer.
I have an IMAP account with PIPEX and mail will not display the sent messages.
Mail has 3 folders - Inbox, Sent, Trash.
IMAP account has 2 folders - INBOX and a sub folder sent-mail.
    Inbox/INBOX syncs fine.
Nothing appears at all in Sent.
Sent messages sync ok, as (using finder) they appear in my library at myusername/library/mail/IMAP-(mylogin)/INBOX/sent-mail.imapmbox/Messages
For info, the inbox messages are stored at myusername/library/mail/IMAP-(mylogin)/INBOX.imapmbox/Messages.
For info again I have store sent messages on server selected in preferences (because I need to see them from another computer)
I have tried 'rebuild' several times on the inbox & the rebuild option is greyed out on the sent folder.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks
    Stringbag

    Hi Stringbag.
This account requires INBOX to be put in Preferences > Accounts > Advanced > IMAP Path Prefix for Mail to handle it properly. Mailboxes on the server should not appear as subfolders of the account’s Inbox in Mail.
After having done that, Mail should be able to properly save sent messages on the server, but maybe in a mailbox different from where you want them to be stored. To fix that, select the desired folder in Mail, and do Mailbox > Use This Mailbox For > Sent.

    Not sure if this is a fix, but I tried sending myself a test email from only  the Bcc field, and lo and behold it now shows the Bcc field in all sent item previews;
...maybe leaving the 'To' field blank on purpose forced Mail to show it.
Rebooted the Mail program, still there - rebooted the machine, still there. Hope this is still relevant and it works for you too - J.

  • Sent messages do not appear in Sent mailbox

Using a pop account, when I send a message it disappears. It does not send and it does not appear in my Sent mailbox.
I know it does not send because no one receive the email.
I have tried rebuilding the Sent mailbox.
I have tried selecting the Sent mailbox and then using the mailbox menu to set sent mail to go there, but this option cannot be selected (it's faded out) in the mailbox menu.
This is driving me to distraction...

While trying to find a solution, I am discovering my mail problem is much deeper than just messages not appearing in the "Sent" mailbox.  I have found some of them appearing in the "Trash" mailbox and some appearing there mulitple times, often with my account name in the "TO" field.  I'm also finding some unread mail there that should be in the "Junk" mailbox.  So it would appear there are many problems with ISO 7 and mail.  I have tried deleting and restablishing the account and two complete iPhone restores.  Neither helped. What is the biggest puzzle is that on my second iPhone, the one that upgraded without an error, mail is working perfectly well.  Has anyone found a solution to any mail problems on ISO 7 devices?  If so, please reply.

Sent mail does not appear in sent mailbox after sending

From reports on this site, Yahoo mail doesn't work reliably with Mail. The following steps may help.
Quit Mail. Force quit if necessary.
Back up all data. That means you know you can restore the Mail database, no matter what happens.
Triple-click the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData/Envelope Index
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar. Paste into the box that opens (command-V), then press return.
A Finder window will open with a file selected. Move the selected file to the Desktop, leaving the window open. Other files in the folder may have names that begin with "Envelope Index". Move those files, if any, to the Trash.
Log out and log back in. Relaunch Mail. It should prompt you to re-import your messages. You may get a warning that the index is corrupt and that Mail has to quit. Click OK.
Test. If Mail now works as expected, you can delete the file you moved to the Desktop. Otherwise, post your results.

  • Sent messages do not appear in Sent Mailbox IOS 7

I upgraded my iPad to IOS 7 using WiFi, but did not first check to see if iTunes was current.  (I don't think this is relevant to this particular problem, but perhaps it is).  I then upgraded one iPhone (4) to IOS 7 on my Mac (10.7.5) after updating iTunes.  Both the iPad and this iPhone work fine.  I then tried upgrading my second iPhone (4) on my Mac and got an error message that the upgrade failed.  I was instructed to resotred the iPhone to factory settings, restored my settings from a backup and then re-sync all my personal music, photos and apps.  Took about 2 hours.   Everything is fine execpt when I send mail on any device (I'm not using iCloud for mail), or my Mac, the mail does not appear in the "Sent" mailbox just on the iPhone that failed the IOS 7 upgrade.  It does appear in the Sent Mailbox only when the mail is sent from that iPhone.  I've checked all my settings and believe they are correctly set to save all mail to the server (AOL) and the server preferences as well.  I repeated the entire restore process and still no change.  I know, it's not a big problem, but it can be when I'm away from home and need to read mail I've sent, or actually be sure it was sent.  Any ideas or suggestioins to fix this?  Thanks!

  • Mail replied to in new mailboxes is not appearing in "Sent"

New Mac user. New MacBook Pro owner. Both wise choices.
I have created 12 mailboxes separate from the main inbox. When replying to mail in the new mailboxes, my replies are not appearing in "Sent" as they do when replying to email in the main inbox.
    Thanks for considering this question.

  • Sent mails staying in sending and not going to sent mails

    Hi everybody,
I have the following problem: Sent mails are staying in sending with 100% sent (showing activity, command+0) and not going to sent mails when they are actually sent and arrived to the recipient.
What can I do? Maybe reinstall it? Is there any other solution that might work?
    Thanks, enjoy your day,
    Cédric

    Hello again,
In the screenshot you emailed me, there are files leftover from when this mailbox was used in Jaguar (10.2) or earlier, and also files leftover from when it was used in Panther (10.3.x) and Mail 1.3.x. Specifically all files except the folder Messages (and its contents) are no longer used by Mail -- you can check by using Get Info in them and you will see the dates last modified to all be prior to your upgrade to Tiger. How long ago did you upgrade? Did you find that all mailboxes appeared to have the messages in them that you knew were previously there (at the time of upgrade)? If so, quit Mail and in the Finder remove all files in the Sent Messages.mbox folder except the Messages folder. Then relaunch Mail and immediately use Rebuild.
However, if your Inbox and other mailbox have similar leftover files there might be some impact from that. Check the other mailboxes and let us know. See:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301315
If other xxxx.mbox folders have the Info.plist file, then leave it, and do not delete. If you upgraded recently, and you think messages that you saw immediately after upgrade were not all-inclusive, then post back. However, with this Sent Messages.mbox folder the Messages folder size exceeds the size of the mbox file (where message content was once stored) so it gives the appearance of a good, full, conversion.
If you remove the Leftover files from other mailboxes, I would suggest using Rebuild on each of them, although if they seem fine, otherwise it may not be needed. There is another procedure to force reindexing of all mailboxes (Rebuild freshens the Envelope Index with respect to only the one mailbox) if needed.

  • Sent emails from Yahoo or iphone dont appear in sent mail folder on MacBook

Please can someone help? My email account is with Yahoo mail (free one); I can send and receive emails without a problem from Mail on my MacBook. However If i send an email from a browser session in Yahoo mail then the sent email does not appear in my Mail sent folder. Likewise i can send and receive emails on my iphone but the sent emails do not appear in either my Yahoo Sent folder or my Mail sent folder.

that's because yahoo only offers POP access. that's a limitation of POP. it only downloads your inbox messages from the server. it does not do any kind of syncing and it does not download or up load sent messages. if you want that you need to switch to an email provider that offers IMAP (yahoo doesn't). IMAP syncs everything with the server so you'll get the same mailboxes contents everywhere you access that account.

  • Mail not appearing in notification center... Also, gears not appearing in the mail app.

I tried to configure my mac to enable it to receive mails in the notification center but cant. i have tried to send an email from other IDs but havent received any banner or alert while using my mac. i have checked the show alerts and banners in notification center. Do i have to keep the window of the mail app in a specific position to receive alerts in the notification centre? Also, the gears are not appearing in the mail app when i fetch for new mail. please help..

    I'm also having this problem.
Notifications receives alerts from Reminders app, but not Mail.
I've set preferences in Mail for 'Inbox Only' and 'All Mailboxes', sent test mail from ISP webmail and Google (Mail is not setup to receive from this account) - still no notifications.
I had previously used Growl (v1.4) and GrowlMail very successfully (with 10.7), but while upgrading to Mountain Lion I was informed that GrowlMail was incompatible so I deleted it.
While testing this problem of not receiving Mail Notifications I have disabled Growl and rebooted.
    Like others here:
    Checked: Notifications setup
    Checked: Mail setup
    Rebuilt permissions
    Rebooted
Any help would be very gratefully received.
    Many thanks.

  • Why my sent emails do not appear in Sent Folder?

why my sent emails do not appear in Sent Folder?

Are you using the Mail Ap which is apart of the Mac OS?
Are you using an Email linked to the Mail AP, I.E. Gmail, Yahoo?
I have noticed this issue with my Yahoo Account. Certain sent items will only be viewable on the device I sent the Email on. When I log in to my email from my Web Browser all sent mail is there. This is as far I know... I think there is something with Icloud in my suspicion will resolve this.
