Messages not responding

My "friend" was being an idiot, as usual, and was sending me hundreds of messages on iMessage really quickly. There was no problem at first, but then I went over to chrome for half a second to look up something, and then when I came back, Messages was completely frozen. I force quit and then tried to reopen it as you usually do when an app ins't responding, but then it wouldn't reopen. It would just sit there and use ~100% of one of my CPUs and just say not responding. I also looked at my phone and iPod who recieved the texts and managed to delete the conversations entirely. I am unable to do anything with the computer version and don't know of any way to fix it. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Back up all data.
Quit Messages if it’s running.
Step 1
Hold down the option key and select
Go ▹ Library
from the Finder menu bar. Move the following items from the Library folder to the Trash (either may not exist):
Caches/com.apple.Messages
Caches/com.apple.imfoundation.IMRemoteURLConnectionAgent
Leave the Library folder open. Log out and log back in. Try Messages again. If it works now, stop here. Close the Library folder.
Step 2
If you still have problems, quit Messages again. Go back to the Finder and move the following item from the open Library folder to the Desktop:
Messages
Note: you are not moving the Messages application. You’re moving a folder named “Messages.”
Test. If Messages now works, delete the Messages folder on the Desktop. Otherwise, quit Messages again. Put back the folder you moved, overwriting the newer one that may have been created in its place, and continue.
Step 3
In the Preferences subfolder, there may be several files having names that begin with any of the following strings:
com.apple.iChat
com.apple.imdsmsrecordstore
com.apple.imessage
com.apple.imservice
Move them all to the Desktop. There may also be a file with the name "com.apple.imagent.plist". Move that to the Trash.
Also in the Preferences folder, there's a subfolder named "ByHost". Open it and do the same thing.
Log out and log back in. Test again. This time Messages should perform normally, but your settings will be lost. You may be able to put back some of the files you moved to the Desktop in this step. Relaunch and test after each one. Eventually you should find one or more that causes Messages to malfunction. Delete those files and recreate whatever settings they contained.
If the issue is still not resolved, quit Messages again and put all the items you moved to the Desktop back where they were. You don’t need to replace the items you moved to the Trash. Stop here and post again.
If you later decide that you don’t like the results of steps 2 and 3, you can undo them completely by quitting Messages and restoring the items you deleted in those steps from your backup.

  • Premiere cs5 and message "not responding"

I Have a brand new i7 system with windows 7 64bit, 6Gb ram, gtx 280 graphic card, one ssd disk 128 gb (main)
and two hard disk 2 TB as raid, proper for video editing (sata II, 7200rpm), i use intensity pro as outpout card.
I am trying to edit with premiere cs5 and I use few AE project.
Unfortunately the programm is unstable, very often i have the message "not responding", especcially when I load
projects and when i try to save my project. Also the programm working very -very slow.
Help, can someone help me? Iam very-very-very dissapointed and iam thinking if i have to try another programm.........
    any help is accepted..............

i have installed 3.9.1 version and its seems to work properly.
    I restarted the system.
I found that probably small projects (220 min avi ) work better instead
of the bigger projects (220 min avi video+10 AE proj+3 phd proj)
    where the system frozen.
I think the problem is the volume of data transfer and the transfer capacity,
probably this is problem with the disk or partition?
Unfortunately I am not the expert about computers, basic electronics and
    computers skills.
I wonder why cs5 worked properly when i worked with ouadro fx580 and
1tb hard disk (until 30 ayg 2010) and know -after the changes- with
raid 2 tb hard disk ang grx 285 graphic card  the system ia almost
    out of order.

  • Everytime i open a pdf document Adobe stops work by message not responding.

Hallo, I am having problems with Adobe on my computer. Every PDF document I open freezes and a not responding message displays. please assist.

If Adobe Reader stops responding and after a while starts responding again, you might be experiencing the same issues we were. For details check  Adobe Reader 11.0.09 stops responding for 30 seconds after start
In short, you will either have allow Adobe Reader to access online services, or set one or more feature lockdown parameters (for the latter, check out the interesting recommendations put out by the NSA, https://www.google.se/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CCAQFjA A&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.nsa.go…

  • IBook (Yosemite) won't open or close.  Message "Not Responding" pops up. Icon indicates that it is running.

I'm running Yosemite on my iMac.  I tried to open iBooks; the icon appeared on the toolbar only. I tried to close the program and I received a "Not responding" pop up.  I'd like to use it if it can be used.  Otherwise, close it or get rid of it.  Any ideas?  Thanks

    Back up all data.
Quit iBooks if it's running. Test after taking each of the following steps that you haven't already taken. Stop when the problem is resolved. Quit iBooks again before going on to the next step.
    Step 1
Hold down the option key and select Go ▹ Library from the Finder menu bar. From the Library folder, move the following item, if it exists, to the Trash:
              Cookies/com.apple.ibooks.cookies
    Step 2
Delete this item in the same way:
              Preferences/com.apple.ibooks.plist
    Step 3
    Delete this item:
              Containers/com.apple.iBooksX
and move this one to the Desktop:
              Containers/com.apple.BKAgentService
Restart the computer. To log out and log back in is not enough—you must restart.
When you launch iBooks, you'll be prompted to reset the library. Confirm. The library will be empty. Rebuild it by downloading your purchases from the iBooks Store and importing any other content you added. You may find the added content in the folder named "com.apple.BKAgentService" that you moved to the Desktop.

  • Messages not responding; Eating up all of my RAM

I'm having a problem with Messages on my Macbook Pro '10. When I pick up my computer after it's been closed for a while, it becomes very sluggish. I looked at my Activity Monitor and noticed that Messages was not responding and was using over 3 gigs of my ram. After I force quit Messages things return to normal. Has anyone else had this problem and what did you do to fix it?

  • Windows 7 always gives the message ( Not Responding )

    HI,,
My Laptop gives me the message of ( Not responding ) all the time on all applications .. I make sfc /scannow and it gives me the result ( Corrupting files are existing in windows but it can not be resolved ) ..
So , how can i repair these corrupted files ...

    Hi,
Run command chkdsc /r /f check the result.
If you have a resore point, you can also return your system to a previous state when your computer was functioning fine.
If this issue doesn't exist in another user account, then it might be related with a corruped user profile, if so, try this link

  • Everytime i open a pdf or try to use acrobat in any way, the program freezes/crashes with error message "(not responding)." Ive called Adobe and had remote support, reinstalled acrobat, repaired it, etc.  Any Ideas?

I can't use acrobat XI at all, so ive resorted back to plain Reader X even though I pay for the Acrobat Pro.  I have a new Samsung laptop with 6GB dual drive RAM and Windows 8.1 - 64 bit.  That should be enough to run Acrobat

    Hi Ryan ,
Please follow the below mentioned steps and see if that helps.
Delete all the files from following folders:
    C:\ProgramData\Adobe\SLStore
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\SLCache
And, delete all files from following folder except cache.db
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\ Adobe PCD
Launch the product and activate again with new serial number
Or you can try these as well .
Please disable protected mode and try.
    Disable Enhanced Security option.
If possible, Uninstall and re-install Acrobat.

  • Not responding message

In the middle of my bookshelf page is a rectangular box that normally shows my library books being downloaded to my computor. That box now has a message "not responding". Can you help?

Darn, I was hoping there would be an answer.  I'm having EXACTLY the same problem with it (also using Vista).  I was testing it out and was going to download a book from my library and return it early.  The download (and even getting it onto my Sony eReader with their software, which seems to work well with Adobe Digital Editions) worked fine.  But Adobe Digital Editions can't start up at all even though I, too, have uninstalled and reinstalled it several times.  *sigh*  Maybe it really is time to give up on PCs and buy a Mac laptop...

  • Acrobat XI Pro "Not Responding

I recently updated to Windows 8 Professional and Acrobat worked like a charm for 3 days with instantaneous reponse.
Now progressively I am back to the old problem that I had under Windows 7 and with Acrobat X and 9 - Whenever I open a new PDF it takes an extraordinary amount of time to open and I usually get the message "not responding" with an opaque window.
We have had this problem on 2 PC's.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I agree with you, restarting the print spooler tends to work for me to get Acrobat working again about 50% of the time. Unfortunately for me, tonight is not in that percentage range.
Ironically the reason I always have to turn the print spooler back off is because when it is on, Adobe Illustrator gives me the "not responding" treatment!
The amount of time I spend troubleshooting my Adobe programs is oftentimes greater than the time I actually get to spend using them for their intended purpose!
Very, very, very frustrating! And yes, I have followed all of the tech advice etc., and the things still glitch up. I'm a student now, but I can't even imagine having to
cope with these problems after I graduate and begin my career in the working world!
Adobe, if you are listening: Please fix the bugs in your programs! My schoolwork is suffering because of them; which also means my health is suffering because I don't get any sleep since
I am having to spend so many hours fighting to get anything to work! (Illustrator, Acrobat, InDesign, Photoshop, Flash, etc., etc., etc.!) Also it is costing me grade points since my work has been
late at times due to these bugs. Tonight is a prime example, which is why I am here in this forum trying to find a way to fix Acrobat so I can make a simple PDF (since none of the other applications will work, either!).
Paying too much for too little. Very dissatisfied customer. /Rant.

  • Access 2010 on 64 Bit Windows 7 Access "Not Responding" when changing from forms view to design view and back

    I am running
    Windows 7 64 bit
    Access 2010 32 bit
Developing an application with a split FE BE with both files local but continue to have the message "Not Responding" when switching from forms view to design view and back as well as if I try to connect to a subform or object on the sub form.

I have seen this behavior when the form's RecordSource is a complex query such as a crosstab or a query with several nested queries. To test if this is your case, remove the RecordSource and see if the form starts acting normal again.
Then again, if the form has several subforms they might be slowing up the loading time.
