Messages on my macbook pro is not working. it will not let me iMessage from my computer or FaceTime. how do i fix that?
i was able to use messages on my macbook for a while and now my phone does not connect to my computer so i cannot message or facetime from my computer. both wifi is connected to my phone and computer so why is it not working?
Log out, log back in, and try again.

Thanks to all who responded. You are all absolutely correct. However, this Ipad was a gift to my wife who was dying of cancer in the hospital and wanted some entertainment. So I started it out with her Apple ID. After she passed away I moved from Sacramento to Austin and eventually proceeded to get the Apple ID changed from my wife's to mine. Meanwhile when she was in the hospital I opened an Itunes account in my name to buy movies for her. That was the first mistake.
Then during the move to Austin I lost track of the IPAD and later found it and tried to use support but could not remember the proper ID. Later the folks at the Apple store helped me create a new and novel Apple ID that was unfortunately unlike any other.
The botom line is that I am stuck with three Apple IDs and three passwords. I am told by Apple there is nothing they can do about this as IDs cannot be changed or destroyed. I can quit using them or start a new account but when I try to do that the system keeps remembering too many things from the past and resists.
Even if I sold this Ipad and bought a new one, the system memory is still there.
I think the real problem is that destop and laptop computers are totally owned by an individual and that individual can control logins and passwords to his liking. IPADs and similar Apple products are different in that the corporation has built in their own intrusion detection schemes because of the relation to Itunes.
One thing I thought about is to open a new Itunes account pretendding to be a new customer with my regular Apple ID. Perhaps I could do the same with Apple Support.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

If you are trying to activate your iPhone you need to use iTunes.
There's no need to "pair" an iPhone with a Mac. Syncing, restoring, backing up, apps/ music / photos etc., is all done with iTunes. -
i can not see photos neither events preview on Iphoto ! How can i fixe that ? (Machine : MacBook Pro)
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

Go to Settings > Messages and turn iMessage OFF.
Then go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset Network Settings. Your phone will restart. You will not lose any data, but you will have to re-enter any Wi-Fi network passwords.
Once the phone has re-started and you have a network connection (either 3G or Wi-Fi), turn iMessage back ON. -

Are you getting any error messages? What I would suggest is to close any open apps that you have on the iPhone and restart and/or reset it.
You can also try turning cellular data off and updating one app at a time over Wi-Fi.

If you can't complete the download on your iOS device, you can download it in iTunes on your Mac or PC and then sync it to your iOS device.

Messages on my MacBook Pro is not working after factory reset, how can I enable it?
I just recently (yesterday) got my MacBook Pro Mid-2012 restored after having a few issues with it. So it is totally "clean."
Today I tried to open Messages which worked previously, but it wouldn't let me send a message to anyone (who I could message before the restore) and if I was able to send a message it would show an "Message Can't Be Sent" symbol next to it. I went to Messages > Preferences > Accounts > and saw that my account was enabled but my email used is in a grey font and it will not let me add my iPhone number.
I have signed in and out, deactivated and reactivated the account and I still cannot message anybody.
Please help guide me into fixing this, I have looked at other boards and it doesn't really help me with my predicament. How can I send a message?
Also in the Messages menu, "My Status" is grey and I can't click anything and as well with the "Log In" option. If this can help developing an idea of what might be wrong.It won't send it to other emails, but it will for phone numbers. Not sure why, but if you can help with sending to other iMessage emails I would appriciate it :-)

I recently bought a Macbook Pro because I like working with imovie. The first day that I started working on imovie, I imported some videos from my camera to the computer with no problem. But after I closed imovie and started working on that same project the very next day, the videos were not saved. The editing and music of my videos were saved but the videos wouldn't show. So, I tried to import my videos again and the computer did not let me. I turned off the computer and after a week I tried to import other videos and when I press the import button, it doesn't do anything. How can I fix this? I have version Ox 10.9
What happens when you try to download the new iPhoto and iMovie? Do you get any message and if so what is it? What do you mean by "theft of my iPhoto or iMovie"? Who do you think stole them?
One trick to try is to move the iPhoto and iMovie apps to the Trash in the Dock but don't empty as yet. Then go to the App Store and try to download the apps again. -

If your MacBook Pro is nearing the end of its warranty do like be like me. Purchase the extended warranty!
Just before the warranty ran out on my 17" MacBook Pro in December of 2007 the NVIDEA Graphics chip set failed. (8600GT). As you will see below, this is a known issue that can affect your MacBook Pro. Since the machine was still under warranty the logic board was replaced at no cost to me. (Yay!)
Well, the new board came with a 6 month warranty. I decided (foolishly) not to purchase the extended Apple Care. Two weeks ago, it failed again. Apple claims that it ought to have failed (if it were ever going to) within 90 days. Obviously this is false since I had the first quite a while before it failed. They will not pay to fix it this time. So I am stuck with a broken machine since it would cost quite a bit out of pocket to replace the board.
Needless to say, Im very disappointed with this and have no where to turn. I should have bought the extended care even though at the time I hadn't researched enough to realize they are aware of these issues of the NVIDEA 8600 mobile sets randomly failing. I've been a loyal Apple customer all my life, owning many many different models since my first 512K "fat mac" in 1985.
So, be aware. If you own a MacBook Pro at any given time in its life the graphic chip set might fail you and if you are not covered under the extended care (even if the warranty ended a short month and half before it died) you will not get your board replaced.

Chip failures could be responsible for an error with Apple's MacBook Pro, in which the display goes black but every other component keeps running.Sorry Dave, have to chime in here as you're very wrong, and BermudaSeal has gone through a lot here and doesn't need to be fed false information, however good the intention.
When the Nvidia cards go wrong, what happens is exactly what BermudaSeal is experiencing, they get reported by the OS as an intel X3100 - which is the core card that forms part of the SR chipset, and coincidentally the graphics card in the MB. Basically the hardware is reporting no external graphics card (the nvidia card), and so assumes that the default one is present. It's a bit like PC motherboads that have built in GPU's, which can be bypased by adding in your own third party part. In this case , the third party part has failed, and unfortunately there is no built in GPU either - hence, black screen.
This is a classic case of a failed NVidia chip, and, depending on the country where Bermuda Seal lives, he/she should be able to get this sorted very swiftly by Apple, as it is a known defect with the hardware that can be proven - BermudaSeal should not have to foot the bill for this - keep trying and refer Apple to the multiple posts on this forum where folks out of warranty have got the issue fixed.
That plus the fact that Bermuda Seal clearly described his machine in the first post - haven't seen many 17" Macbooks around, have you?

If your mail provider supports the older POP mail protocol, you may be able to configure your Mac and your iPad to remove fetched messages from the server so that they only reside on the device that initially receivied them, as outlined in the following article:

Note: If configured this way, you will not be able to see a mail on one device if it has already been received by the other.

I try not to shut it down at all now because once or twice, I have got a grey screen, and then nothing. I've held down the power button to shut down again and restart How do I fix all this?
Start up with your built-in Recovery disk by holding down the Command and R keys when starting. Open Disk Utility from there and use it to REPAIR your disk (you've already verified it and it came up with errors).
With any luck, your problems will be solved. While I was there, I would also repair permissions.
