Messages Problem MacBook Air 11

I sent a ton of emoji, like 20,000, to a friend, and now Messages lags and wont open. I've tried rebooting it many times and holding Command + Option + P + R upon startup, but none of this works. I can't use Messages at all, and also I currently have a lot, like 300 messages that I got today, so that might also be a problem.

Doesn't matter all fixed

  • IPhoto Import Problem, MacBook Air

iPhoto on my new MacBook Air (Mountain Lion) won't import all photos from my Nokia N Series mobile phone via USB cable; it sees some but not all photos, other times says the jpeg format is not a recognizable format. Can anyone help? I've never had this problem on my MacBook Pro before.

    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

I started using the messages on my macbook air. Then I accidentally used the same Apple id for my Iphone. Now what ever messages I recieve on my macbook I also get on my phone. Is there a way I can unsync the two so that I can only get the messages on my macbook?

  • Wifi Problems [Macbook air 2012 Mountain Lion]

I have a new (barely 2 weeks old) Macbook Air fresh from Shanghai.  It is running the most current OSX 10.8.2 with the newest update.  All apps are up to date.  It has 8gb ram and a core i7 processor.
The wifi is extremely slow (I am seeing rates from a couple kb to maybe 100kb/s).  The wifi icon in the upper bar displays full strength for my home wifi (WPA2 secured running N-band).  However, if I go more than a 10 feet from the router the signal appears to drop off dramatically (speeds become lethargic, nearly 0kb/s) although the icon still displays full strenth.  The only way I can get half-decent speeds is by physically sitting in my closet with the router.  Clearly, this is not ideal and hopefully is not the norm for a brand new system like this that is meant to be an ultraportable.
Another symptom I have noted is that when the macbook is connected to the network, the speed of all other wifi-connected devices also drops off - though not as dramatically.
The wifi connection problem appears to be not just with my home network as it is also unbearable with any wifi network I've tried EXCEPT the apple store (so of course the apple genius wasn't convinced).
I have tried many things to fix this including:
    bluetooth is turned off
    no other devices are connected
    reset router
reset wifi setting on computer and turn on/off
    reseting NVRAM
changing network (I have tried 2 home networks, starbucks, a portable hotspot, and my school's wifi)
So far, as I mentioned before, the only way to get above 20 kb/s is to sit inside my closet.  This network works perfectly with 3+ other computers and any cell phones/printers/etc that have been hooked up to it, many of which are many rooms/walls away.  Also, even sitting next to the router, speeds are still 10x slower than other devices.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thank you!

         O
I had the excact same issue, I have now restored to OSX 10.8.1 rather than update to 10.8.2? downside is I cannot use iPhoto because it requires 10.8.2 to install
Strange thing is when i updated to 10.8.2 and logged in as a guest user i had no internet problems, but as soon as I switched back to my account login the wifi issues came back?
I even spent 2 hours on the phone to my internet service provider thinking it was my router giving up.
It was only through luck that i picked up on the fact that it didnt cause issues before i updated, but only after the update did the issue raise its head.
Im a loyal apple user,  I also sell apple products through a reseller bar inside the store I work, but im starting to loose faith.
Lets hope this is a bigger issue than just a handful of users, that way apple may get a fix out for this

  • Need Help: Error Message on MacBook Air

    Hello,
My MacBook Air keeps showing the following error message after it is woken up from sleep:
I do not have anything plugged in to the ports, and I have tried restarting and shutting down several times. I would appreciate any insight or solutions the community might have. Thank you!

    Hello S.W. Tyra
That is interesting, especially since nothing is plugged in. I would start with resetting the SMC and NVRAM on your MacBook Air and then test it out. Let me know if this helps or if you are still having issues.

  • Little problem: macbook air/ipad2

I recently purchased a mammoth laptop as my previous laptop died on me after serving several years.
I own a custom built, high-spec sager, which weighs in at something silly like 12lbs. It has an 18'' screen, and quite frankly, it could do anything. I opt for laptops, even if they are deemed 'replacement desktops' because I still like the portability aspect.
    Anyway, on to my problem...
I have some store credit to spend at powemax.com after I sold them by old 2006 macbook. I have about $300 credit, and also about $200 that I can use out-of-pocket.
I was looking at purchasing the new macbook air; probably the 13'', but that weighs in at around $1200...and considering I just spent nearly $3,000 on my current laptop, it is more than I would like to spend.
With the decline of FCP and uprising of Avid, there really is nothing that I would NEED a mac for. I love Mac, and apple products in general, so don't get me wrong.
I want something that I can REALLY take with me most places. My "portable" laptop, isn't REALLY that portable. So this is why I was looking at the Air's.
I don't need it to be powerful, just something I can use to do general web browsing, watch videos, email, and all the basic stuff. So an ipad would be perfect for this, no? And it would fit my budget. I can even buy an external keyboard if I needed?
How responsive is the ipad2 to moderate web browsing?
And have I answered my own question in favoring the ipad over the macbook air?
    Thanks in advance!

I read you blog several times.  What's the problem?  If your primary concern is web browsing, an iPad is great.  If you intend to produce documents and files, the MBA would be the right choice.

  • WiFi and other networking problems (MacBook Air)

Like many others on these forums, I’m having terrible problems with network connections on my MacBook Air 11-inch (Mid 2011, running Lion 10.7.3).
WiFi connections are very unreliable, and often impossible to establish.
On my home network I can ‘force’ the MBAir to connect by manually configuring TCP/IP, and DNS settings. I shouldn’t have to do this.
I do not have (and have never had) problems establishing WiFi connections on all the other Macs that are used on our home network (iMac, and MacBook running SnowLeopard, and an old PowerMac that runs Tiger; I also occasionally use my University MacBookPro (10.6.7) without any problems. So this issue is clearly not network related.
If I take the MBAir out on the road (which is why I bought it) then I invariably struggle and usually fail to establish a WiFi connection, even in my University, where the WiFi network functions with my MacBookPro.
My problems with the MBAir are not however confined to WiFi.
Networking with an Ethernet-USB link is equally unreliable. Occasionally the MBAir appears on network but then fails to connect to any servers. Even when it does appear to connect the network, I’m unable to connect/share the MBAir from any other of my Macs. Ethernet cable and network communications are all trouble-free with my University iMac and MacBookPro.
I’m really disappointed with my MacBook Air what’s going on Apple?!
I’ve tried deleting the usual system preference files (com.apple.airport.- , -.network, etc.) but not much has changed. Now at a loss at what to try next .... advice welcomed.

Whatever was causing my endless problems has been resolved. I was very close to returning my new MacBookAir, as nothing would work with respect to networking; WiFi or Ethernet-USB.
As a last resort I reinstalled Lion using the cmd-R - and yipee all networking problems have disappeared.
The MBAir now works just fine, I can chop and change WiFi connections when roaming without problems, and my ethernet-USB connection allows me to interact with my University network.
    My solution - reinstall Lion!

  • Storage Capacity Problem - Macbook Air 11.6"

I got this MBAir last December, and sometime last month had a complete crash... why, because I was forced to terminate a certain application, everything frozen, and I force off (holding power button for 5 seconds)
    History:
    1. I installed a new partition for XP, not via bootcamp because I was having problem acquiring the drivers, size is 9G.
    2. 128G as I remember shows as my storage capacity (or if not, it could be only minus 1-2G)
    3. I realized, I don't need the XP at all, so I decided to have it deleted, but I could not delete it via Disk Utility so I left the app (Disk U) running at the background, and did something else.
    4. Frozen... force restart.
    5. Start up disk (both Mac and PC) could not be detected.
    6. I inserted the flash drive startup disk, and performed the Disk Utility VERIFY AND REPAIR, but not successful.
    7. Ran REFORMAT and REPARTITION.
Now I only have one partition, restored my Time Machine Backup, and everything was restored back, but I noticed huge amount of storage space missing. About 9 G.
Can someone help me with this please??
By the way, I now run Leopard 10.6.4, and still running the update (download) of the 1.06G file size... it takes days before completion with my current Satellite Internet connection.

Now, you can. Your SSD has a capacity of 128,000,000,000 bytes (this is the method device manufacturer's use. You will find this noted in the footnote on the MBA's specs: +1GB=1 billion bytes; actual formatted capacity may be less+.) If you divide the above by 1024^3 it will equal 119.21 GBs or 120,000,000,000 bytes, approximately. Hence what appears to be a loss of storage space. In actuality the two are the same. One computed using Base 10 and the other using Base 2 arithmetic.
You can approximate the difference on any drive by deducting about 7% from the manufacturer's stated capacity. For a 128 GB drive that is about 8.96 GBs - your missing 9 GBs.)

  • WIFI problem MacBook Air 2012

My MBA is almost two months old and I recently found a problem with my wifi connection. After a while being connected to the internet my wifi connection just stops and I can't get my computer connected to any wifi connection until I restart my laptop and try it again. Is there anyone with the same problem? How can thus be solved or is this just a software defect.. In that case, how can Apple help me with this?

    try this.

  • How do you keep old deleted messages on MacBook Air from returning to inbox?

I just bought a new MacAir. When I imported my email address all the old email came too. Figured I'll just erase them and that's that. Not the case these 1400 emails keep coming back. Recent emails are easily deleted but not the old ones. These are hotmail accts.

Import them to the iTunes library if they're not already there, click here, and follow the instructions.

  • Folder/file permissions stop bluetooth transfer from my iMac to to MacBook Air ---  Both on Yosemite 10.10.1

e.g.  on iMac have 50 photo files in a folder ... folder can not be transferred to my MacBook Air via bluetooth - receive error message "Items can’t be copied to “Desktop” because you don’t have permission to read them."      I change the folder permissions on iMac (get info>>assign others to r/w permission), and also change the folder to a shared folder.   I still get the same message on MacBook Air.
I have not tried manually changing 50 individual file permissions in the folder ...eeegads!
Single files transfer properly between both computers ....after permissions are manually changed.   What's going on?   I never had to even say the word "permissions" pre-Yosemite.   Any advice would be greatly appreciated

There are apps such as Simple Transfer which allow you to transfer photos to/from your iPad and your computer via your wifi network - they will copy into the Camera Roll album in the Photos app on your iPad

  • When I login to my bank, I get the message: 403 - Forbidden: Access is denied. You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied. Have new MacBook Air with Yosemite. How to solve this problem?

When I try to login to the website of my bank, I get the following error message:
403 - Forbidden: Access is denied.
You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied.
I have a new MacBook Air with OS Yosemite installed.
What is the problem and how can I solve it?

Some websites require a special client certficate for access. If you don't have that certficate, you'll have to contact the site operator to find out how to get one.
Sometimes the problem is caused by a web server that is configured to request an optional client certificate. Safari treats the request as mandatory. In that case, other browsers such as Firefox and Chrome may be able to connect to the site, because they ignore the request.
The first time you were prompted for a certificate, you may have clicked through a dialog that requested access to the Apple certificate in your keychain that is used to secure the iMessage service. In that case, you may be able to regain access to the site in Safari by doing as follows.
    Back up all data.
Double-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    com.apple.idms.appleid.prd
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Paste into the search field in the Keychain Access window by clicking in it and pressing the key combination command-V. An item may appear in the list of keychain items. The Name will begin with string you searched for, and the Kind will be "certificate."
Delete the item by selecting it and pressing the delete key. It will be recreated automatically the next time you launch the Messages or FaceTime application.
The next time you visit a site that prompts for an optional client certificate, cancel out of the prompt. You may have to do this several times before the server stops asking.
