'Messages' quits automatically

I only want to close the window but I expect the program to keep running in the dock. Though, when press the x in the top left corner, it quits and I cannot receive messages on it anymore. Is there anything to do?
Thank you so much,
Simona

I must have been not clear enough
That is what I do. But I don't want it to quit totally. I only want to close the window.
And when I do press the red button/x it quits and I cannot receive messages any more.

I think that you know as well as anyone here that there is not yet a legal entity known as the nation of Palestine. There is the Palestinian Territories that are administered currently by the nation of Israel. So if you are going to use the iTunes Store or the Mac App Store, you likely have to use the Israeli Store with a bank card from a local bank with a local billing address. If you cannot supply those bank credentials, then you will likely need to get an iTunes Gift Card for the Israeli Store and buy content that way.
    now...
I tried to enter the Apple store to buy some programes, Although I have electronic shopping card, and tried to give it's informations as accurately as possible, but it was rejected because the numbers are not included in the list of their country, so what can i do to solve this problem, because my country Palestine is not included in the list of the country that are known to the store, when i put Israel also it was rejected and I want to buy this store programs

  • Why does Messages app automatically start whenever I receive an imessage?

I'm using my mac to try and get some work done, and as a result have apps such as messages closed (I'm trying to focus.) I even have pop-up notifications disabled in the notification center. However, whenever I receive an imessage messages.app automatically opens itself, disrupting my concentration. How can I disable this behavior?

    Hi,
Can you check that imagent (it will be lower case) is running in the Activity Monitor (Applications/Utilities) ?
If you have NOT set the option in Messages > Preference > General Section to Be Off-line On Quit then IMAgent should start up when the computer does.
If it have been Force Quit then it should also restart if FaceTime or Messages is started up.
If the .plist has been removed it should be recreated from defaults within the app(s) when the app if started up again.

  • XI3.0 SXMB_MONI - Message Status - Automatic Restart

    Hello,
I am using XI3.0 to pass thu file from file server to BW system. When I pass the file , the file adapter log shows it passed nut in SXMB_MONI transaction the Status field shows the message as AUTOMATIC RESTART . After Half an hour or so it converts into chequered flag ie. converted successfully. I think the file remains in Queue.
Can anyone suggest the cause and solution to this problem?
    Thanks,
    Pushpendra Srivastava

    Dimitry,
I dont know if you can disable automatic restart, but you can try to delete messages from Integration Engine. There are various ways to do that.
    1. In ABAP-stack. Transaction SMQ2, try to delete all messages currently stored in queues or try to identify based on time the exact message that is restarting.
    2. In J2EE-stack. In RWB, go to Message Monitoring, select time frame when this message first occurred. After, there is a button cancel to cancel processing of each individual message.
       Hope this helps,

  • Thundrbird - How do I stop an other message opening automatically when I delete an open message

When I have an open message that I delete another message opens automatically. If the message being deleted was the last message then the message immediately above this message opens even if its already been read. I don't want any message to open unless I specifically click on it. How do I set this up?

I think this add-on will do what you want:

  • IPhoto '09 Runs Then Quits Automatically Down

    Hi,
I accidentally deleted iPhoto '09 from my computer, so I reinstalled in via the Operating System disks that came with the computer. Before I tried that, however, I tried moving iPhoto from another computer running Leopard to mine, running Snow Leopard, using a USB Flash Drive. After reinstalling iPhoto, I can open it and it runs fine for about 15 seconds, then quits automatically and gives a huge error box, saying that the report will automatically be sent to Apple. Could this be from the way I tried before? Does anyone know how to fix this or does anyone have this problem? Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thank You,
    frgoeyvaerts

You can only install iPhoto from a valid Installation disk.
    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
    2. Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.

  • I get this error message quite frequently:: (TypeError: attempt to run compile-and-go script on a cleared scope) what does it mean and how do I stop it?

I get this error message quite frequently:: (TypeError: attempt to run compile-and-go script on a cleared scope) what does it mean and how do I stop it? It doesn't happen always but it is often.

Ever since the 6.0.2 update - every single day there's been something new going horribly wrong. For the past couples weeks it has been the browser hanging or crashing for no apparent reason and now this error hitting the browser screen over and over a hundred times a minute. I've used firefox since it began and NEVER had any issues previously. This 6.0 upgrade is a downgrade and is making me seriously look at Chrome (never IE - why I switched to firefox), though making the switch will be a pain due to all the apps I rely on and thousands of bookmarks that would need to be transported. Please mozilla fix this because using this browser has suddenly gone from seamless to frustrating pretty much overnight!

  • TS5181 How can I get iTunes Radio to QUIT automatically playing?!

When I get out of the car and I'm in one of my playlists (created on a computer, not a genius or anything) and I'm in the middle of a song, my issue is when I get back in the car (it can be 5 minutes or 2 hours), my song doesn't pick up from where I left off. In fact, my playlist isn't even playing -- iTunes Radio is!! I don't want it to do that!! Does anyone know how I can get iTunes Radio to quit automatically playing?? Thank you.

Bumping this.... iTunes Radio in Canada was supposed to come out early this year (2014). It's mid-November and still no sign and no word from Apple... Anyone have any idea if/when we can expect this?

  • Can I make Skype quit automatically when I close it?

I'm sick of having to close it on the task bar and then confirm I don't want it running any more.I've already confirmed I wanted to log out and close the program, why is it still running?
I cannot find an option to quit from the menu whilst running, but I imaging it's buried somewhere.
Could somebldy tell me how to either 'quit' automatically when I close the program, or if there is an option to close and quit while it's open?
Failing that could I find out why it's do ******* important that it stays running in the backlground after I close it the first time?

Yeah, so there's definitely a problem here. It's FAR from intuitive. So like someone said, what you currently have to do is NOT sign out (which seems like the first thing anyone is likely to do when they're ready to quit), click on the task bar icon instead (!) and select an option from there that ISN'T AVAILABLE IN THE IN-PROGRAM MENU which is pretty unusual in itself, then remember to check the box for it not to DOUBLE-PROMPT FOR SOMETHING YOU HAD TO JUMP HOOPS in order to find in the first place. I can even say I get why they did it like that: it's supposed to have a personal setting for each user on the same computer but why couldn't I then personalize my skype to fully close when I click on the big red x that is USUALLY USED TO CLOSE THE PROGRAM THAT OPENED THE WINDOW. I kinda get why "sign out" is not the same as closing. I just now realized the minimize button and the close button do exactly the same thing... If this isn't taken seriously (I'm expecting the most convincing arguments here) I will just look for an alternative as soon as I can. It's hard because you guys have some sort of monopoly here and all my friends are on Skype too. I'll bet your managers know this extremely well.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

This screenshot (http://community.skype.com/t5/Windows-desktop-client/Can-I-make-Skype-quit-automatically-when-I-clos... is from the currently latest Skype 6.7.0.102 version, but exactly the same window is shown with any previous version too.
If you sign out of Skype before quitting, then the “Do not ask me again” option will not be shown. You don’t need to sign out before quitting!!!!

  • Messages app automatically opens on iMac when I receive a message

    Hi all,
I noticed that my iMac (mid 2011 model running Mountain Lion 8.2) opens the messages app automatically when I get a new message. I found a thread detailing this issue on another site (see below), but the solution (turning alerts off for incoming messages), did not help.
    http://forums.macrumors.com/archive/index.php/t-1430134.html
    Anyone else experience this?
    Here are more specifics:
    - Messages is configured to use 2 e-mail addresses and a phone number,  but no extraneous accounts like Jabber or Yahoo.
    - This does NOT happen on my MBA with the same OS.
    - I had previously been running the iMessages beta on this iMac before the ML upgrade hit.
Any - ANY - help at all would be much appreciated!
    Thanks!

That would require that the carrier time stamps each message. The time stamps in the phone are stand alone, they run off of when the PHONE receives a message. There is no way to do what you're asking other than keeping the phone on. Sorry!

    Hi
How much free space is there on Your Mac main Start-Up hard disk ? for
    • SD-video - I never go under 25Gb
    • HD-material used - I guess that x5 more would do.
Even as DVD is as standard SD-Video it needs space to scale down HD and Mac OS needs lot's for it's temp. files.
I do not "Finalize" or use "Share to iDVD" - but I do "Share to Media Browser" and as Large (not HD or other resolution as this will degrade the final result)

  • Blank call and contact page and quit automatically

When I go to the call page.It goes blank and quit automatically and so does the contact page, though I can receive call.
When I do the restore, it requires me to upgrade to ios 5.0.1. But I don't want the upgrade as everybody says the battery life after upgrad is even worse.
What happen to my phone? Can I restore it without the upgrade?

Basic troubleshooting is reset, restart, restore.  Have the first two been tried before resorting to a restore?
It is only possible to restore with the latest/current version of iOS... there is no reason to not install the latest/current version.
The majority of issues reported are minor and many are non-issues.
The forums are like an emergency room, people generally only come here with issues.  The majority of users never have any issues and do not come here.

  • Old messages delete automatically?

Do old messages delete automatically or do I have to delete them one by one?

Nothing is deleted automatically from your iPhone. You can do them one by one or you can use a desktop client or browser and delete them in groups. You could also use Safari on the iPhone to do this if your email provider offers webmail.
