Messages staying in offline

My iMac Messages keeps saying "connecting" and won't go online.

Error Message stays on the screen all the time

This message stays on my screen almost all the time. At the bottom it says "Press center to dismiss" but I have to press over and over multiple times to make it go away and then it usually comes right back anyway. The error message says "Firewire connections are not supported. To transfer songs, connect the USB cable provided." I don't have any other problems. It seems to be a bogus message and I can't get rid of it.

Have you tried these basic troubleshooting steps?

Hi, I can not get my iphone 4 voice over function to work. I turn it on and then it turns off automatical. I ok the message the message stays on the screen for 30 secs or so and then turns it off????

I am unable to turn on the voice over function on Iphone 4. The meesage appears informing me of what the functions does, I press ok and the the message stays on the screen for 30 secs or so and then it automatically turns the voice over function "off" - why???? what am I doing wrong?

I just had this same issue. It occured after I joined my school's Wi-Fi. Suddenly, my home ATV2 and iPhone4 weren't on speaking terms. All five other iphones, ipads, and macs were operating as they should. My phone was not. I tried everything: unplugging and restarting ATV2, deauthorizing all my devices and reauthorizing them, deleting and reinstalling remote app, and countless home sharing on and offs on all devices. Finally, I turned the Wi-Fi off and then on in the setting of my iphone. Boom. Situation remedied. I hope this helps.

Try a Safe Boot OS X: What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode? - Apple Support
Both this and the PRAM/NVRAM reset clear out caches that other maintenance does not touch.
I would also open Applications/Utilities and then Disk Utility and set it to the First Aid tab and use the Repair Permissions button.
This always reports something.
It can be useful after an Upgrade or Update as just now and then the right permissions are not put on a file.
Other files have settings the the process is not expecting so they show up again and again.
These are fairly non-invasive and if they don't work we will have to dig deeper.

Active Messages staying in admin console from few days - isolated adapter

Hi,
This is biztalk support(admin) issue.
It is really surprising to see 'ACTIVE' messages in admin console from past 15 days. They belongs to isolated adapter(wcf-basichttp), receive port.
They dont have any context properties.. or message(data).... or error details...
How come, a receive port message is active from 15 days.... Either it should be completed or suspended.
What are they ? can i terminate them?..
We have arround 350 of such messages. Our system has very fast hardware.

Active means some action is still pending, so you need to find out what is that before terminating the instance.
One probable reason might be, certificates . Setting number of days e-mails/messages stay on Z30 device?

I have a z30 and finding that my e-mails that were staying for about 30 days is now only going back a week on those I have received. I remember on my other BB units that I could set them to stay 30, 60 days? I thought I had seen this feature on my Z30 but **bleep** if I can find it. Please tell me where to find it. Thx

Message of "printer offline" when trying to print

Hello,
I have iphone 4s and a HP wireless printer a little less than 3 years old. When trying to print something from my iphone, it keeps giving me the message "printer offline" with choices for continue or cancel. I hit continue, but same message comes up a minute or two later. This happens even when my printer is awake and wirelss signal is strong. My phone finds the printer when i try to print, but keep getting this printer offline message. Any help would be appreciated.

Is your particular printer model AirPrint compatible? Here's the list, as well as guidnance for setup and use:

If your HP printer is not one of those on the HP list, then you wiould need some othe app to print from your iPhone. Search the App Store.

Passport messages stay pending

I have a constant problem with my Passport that my messages, Bbm, whatsapp etc stay pending and does not go through. I have to swith the network to something else, 3g or 4g, or wifi, to get the message out. It stays pending until there is a switch in signal or by switching data on and off. Its driving me crazy. The same with receiving. I don't know what to do, i've tried everything.

I tend to agree with Ira on this, there could be an updated OS with an updated radio file, but the issue could remain with a weak signal.
So, to be clear, there is no possibility of wifi at work?

Messages sending when offline.

Okay so I have a contact on skype who I talk to a lot and I am close to but sometimes when it says they are offline and I send them a message it goes through instantly no spinning circle appears at all it just goes straight through as delivered.
I know a lot of people are going to say this means they are appearing invisible because then my message would go through if it says they are offline but this happens constantly like every time I send a message and they are not online.
I also did a test to check and on my second account sent a message to my main account even though that was definetly not signed into yet the same thing happened and it went straight through then popped up when I signed in even though the other account was now not logged into.
I also sent a message to my brothers skype who I know for sure was offline and same thing happened it went straight through and then popped up when he signed in when I was offline.
So I am confused because my messages seem to be instantly sending when someone is offline , could this mean it is a glitch?

Yes it is important especially if the another person chat always with the term invisible. Some people do that for to avoid a lot of request if appear online. What you recommend is a double work. If it is not reliable or not important to know if a message went through via Skype because it appears in general "delivered" even if the person isn't online then for what using Skype? At the end you even recommend to write an additional email, which is the double work. If I use Skype mobile, pay even for the service then I also want reliability of status from the message and not just a guess or a statement from Skype like "hell yeh it is send and delivered but we don't guarantee that it is really delivered because we just wrote to every message that it is delivered". Lottery or what? Perhaps is that the reason why more and more switch the communication apps? Skype resume it is delivered but at the end they don't know it. So I resume that a status of pending is very important until the message is really delivered through a login from the receiver. And I also disagree to your statement that through email is guaranteed the delivery of messages, never listen the word server side spam management? An issue where sometimes the receiver need high educated computer knowledge for to config the system. I resume that this step from Skype is not a development this is more like a bug because there was no logic thinking in place as the software got upgraded.

AIM account on Messages keep going offline

I recently installed Mountain Lion on my iMac (iMac10,1) and added my AIM account to Messages.
When I am using Messages, my AIM account frequently goes offline by itself (and sometimes reconnects again).
I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else and if there is a fix.

Ive had this problem as well. I have four accounts two of which are yahoo accounts, 1 gmail, and 1 icloud. I have found that when you go to system preferences and then mail,contacts... and you click on details and retype your password it usually works. If that doesn't work though go to your email providers page and log in there and make sure your proxy settings are correct. Step two solved my issue. Hope this works for ya!

Messages showing as Offline

Using Mountian Lion on my iMac and my messages keep showing as Offline.
I have opened the messages window and the conversations can be there one minute then suddenly just change to Offline.
I can send messages when it is in this state but no messages arrive.
The only way to resurrect the messages and conversations is to force quit the application and then re-open. Does anybody have any ideas or experience of this?
