Messages unusable when iCloud Keychain is enabled

Ok, searched everywhere, and can not find this specific issue anywhere.
I have a new MacBook Pro Retina (13")
Everything is working fine, however, when I have iCloud Keychain enabled, Messages becomes unusable. It works fine on my iPhone, iPad, iMac, but just this MacBook Pro.
Turning off iCloud Keychain on the MBP resolves the speed issue, but prevents me from having the benefit of the synced keychain.
Any thoughts? I thought it might have been that I was in a hotel, but even on 30+ meg internet, it is still an issue.
I even deleted my account on the Mac, made a new one, and, at first, seemed to solve the issue, but now a few days later, the problem is back.

The only way I was able to fix this on my iPhone 6  was to go to iCloud-> keychain in settings (which was as usual marked "pending") chose the "security code" option, ignored the box to enter numbers, scrolled down to "Forgot code", chose Reset, ignored dire warnings about replacing key chains, reset code, everything good. I did have to reset the keychain on my other devices but that was easy enough.
What's odd is that when you do this from your phone it replaces keychain info on iCloud  with that on your phone. Since my iPhone 6 was my most recent device I didn't really want to do that. So I looked for a similar path to "Forgot Code?" on my laptop which didn't seem to exist.
So there still seem to be implementation weirdnessess but this method seems to have worked. And so far every site I've tried on my laptop  that needs a password seems to be working

  • ICloud Keychain won't turn off

I tried to turn iCloud keychain when I set up my iPhone. It requires a security code which is set to an old international number I no longer have. When I click on "Don't have access to this phone" it takes me to iCloud Support, which gives no answers. When I try to turn Keychain off, it turns itself back on. I keep getting messages about approving iCloud keychain and I can't do anything to get out of this circle.  I tried to change the verification number according to the Apple Support directions - Settings-iCloud-Keychain-Advanced, but there is no advanced option in iOS8. I don't really want Keychain - just want to turn it off and quit getting these annoying messages.

The problem persists with iOS 8.3 and OS 10.10.3.  Please help!

  • Wifi networks keep reappearing in my iCloud Keychain

I am having a problem with wifi networks that keep reappearing in my iCloud Keychain, and no matter what I have tried, I can't get rid of them.
I have an iPhone, an iPad, an iMac and two MacBook Pros.  I have enabled iCloud Keychain on all these devices.  On one of the Macs, if I look in System Preferences / Networks / Advanced, I can see the list of Preferred Networks.  There are loads of them from various offices, hotels, airports etc I have visited.  Most are harmless, but I have two entries for public wifi networks which I no longer can use.  The problem is, when I am out and about with my iPhone, if I come in to range of one of these networks, my iPhone automatically connects to it.  However, as I don't subscribe to the network, I can't get any data throughput, but the iPhone wants to use wifi and not cellular data, so effectively I am offline.  I fix this by turning wifi off, but that is a pain.
I have tried a whole bunch of things, including:
Telling the iPhone to forget the offending networks - it works initially, but next time I visit that location, the iPhone connects up again
Deleting the offending networks on the Mac and letting iCloud Keychain sync the deletion to the other devices.  No luck, the networks reappear after a few hours
Reloading iOS entirely on the iPhone and iPad.  I didn't do a restore of any type.  No joy still
Resetting iCloud Keychain by turning it off on all the devices and entering a new code.  No good, the offending networks appear again
What I have had to do is turn off Keychain entirely, but this is frustrating and surely can't be how Apple intended it to be.
Any advice would be gratefully received.
    Thanks
    PD

Well, I have made some progress on this, and established that this actually is not to do with iCloud Keychain at all, so apologies to all the iCloud Keychain developers out there!
The problem is that when I delete entries from the Preferred Networks list (System Preferences / Network / select Wi-Fi connection / Advanced, all looks great initially, but after a while the entries reappear.  They do this when iCloud Keychain is off, so they shouldn't be coming back from iCloud Keychain.
I have turned iCloud Keychain off on all my devices, reset it, and then only turned iCloud Keychain back on on two iOS devices and one laptop, all three of which I rebuilt from scratch (and no restoring a backup).  iCloud Keychain has stayed free of the offending preferred networks.
I don't really want to rebuild my other two OS X machines just to clear down this list of preferred networks, does anyone know how to clean the list properly without the entries returning?
    Thanks
    PD

  • Add a previously rejected site to iCloud keychain

    This is the problem.
I visited a site and logged in. I selected never for this site when iCloud keychain asked to save the password.
Now I actually want to add the site and save my credentials. Of course when I visit it and log in, nothing shows up to save it.
How can I fix this ?
    Thanks.

    Hi peterolle,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  You can view and modify the list of Safari password preferences, including deleting a "never saved" entry, by following this article:
    iCloud: Troubleshooting iCloud Keychain
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4644
How do I view the passwords stored in my iCloud keychain?
Devices using iOS 7.0.3 or later:
Go to Settings > Safari> Passwords & Autofill > Saved Passwords.
Tap the website whose password you want to view.
    Enter your device passcode.
Macs using OS X Mavericks v10.9 or later:
Choose Safari > Preferences, then click Passwords.
Select the website whose password you want to view.
Select the “Show passwords for selected websites” checkbox.
    Enter your system password.
In your case, just locate in the Passwords list the site you want to add and remove its existing "never saved" entry.  Your next visit should prompt you with the save/never save question.
    Cheers,

  • My iCloud ID seems cracked: iCloud Keychain verification codes were sent from unknown senders

This morning, I received four SMS (text) messages from different phone numbers to my iPhone (iPhone 4s, iOS7.2.1).
    All the SMS messages say
'Your iCloud Keychain verification number is xxxxxx' (6 digiit number)
All the phone numbers, which sent the message to me, seem mobile phone numbers in Malaysia:
    +60 14 7380 651
    +60 17 846 7052
    +60 10 890 1756
    +60 14 7380 650
and I did not know any of the senders (phone numbers).
(Also what I have found is the first and fourth numbers are different only by one.)
I think I have not touched Keychain feature of iCloud recently.
I doubted that my password for Apple ID was cracked.
Thus, I have changed my password for Apple ID (and iCloud).
    I also have an ipad2 tablet (iOS7.2.1).
Are there anything else should I do?

Okay, for all of you following this or experiencing the problem - here's the trick - give up on iCloud entirely - disconnect everything from it and whatever iCloud thinks it has on you will disappear - keep in mind that this will not blow-out or delete any keychain entries on your local machines - those are sacrosanct and will remain - each machine is/was/remains an island without iCloud - but it's likely (in my case) and maybe in many of yours that iCloud thinks it has important stuff in it - but it just might be wrong.
In my case, I disconnected my iPad, iPhone, MBA and iMac and followed the process to blow out the entire online keychain and any documents out in the cloud - I didn't have much of anything and I lost no files either.
Once all that was done, I started iCloud on my iPhone 6+ without issue, and then proceeded to add the MacBook Air, desktop and so forth - and it's great now.

  • Why can't I re-enable iCloud Keychain on my iMac?

    Hi,
I recently noticed that iCloud Keychain stopped syncing passwords between my devices. While my iMac was up-to-date, my iPad mini, iPhone and MacBook weren't. I found a support article that suggested disabling iCloud Keychain on all devices and re-enabling it later. I followed that advice only to be presented with a completely new issue.
On my iMac (27" Late 2012, Mac OS X 10.9.1), when I try re-enabling iCloud Keychain, I get the following error message after waiting for a few minutes:
"iCloud Keychain couldn't be set up because there was a problem communicating with iCloud. Try turning on Keychain again." (transcribed for sight-impaired users and search engines)
I've tried this about a dozen times over the past few weeks now (just in case it is a server-side error), but still no luck. I tried investigating and found the following error message pop up in Console at the same time as the error in the above image:
13.02.14 16:44:59,761 com.apple.preferences.icloud.remoteservice[9342]: [AOSAccounts] :  [registerCredentials]  : SOSCCSetUserCredentials Error The operation couldn’t be completed. Invalid argument.
Does anybody have any suggestions on what I could try to overcome this issue? Or could anyone from Apple see if there is something wrong with the iCloud Keychain data in my account?
Any kind of help is greatly appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Alex

This is a shot in the dark, but try this:
log-in to your iCloud account with your Apple ID
    change your password
ensure your billing information is up-to-date
attempt to re-enable your Keychain (again)

  • I have downloaded a Maverick OS X 10.9.4 and installed it on my Mac from a USB, and i can't receive a Verification Code via SMS when setting up the iCloud Keychain. Please help

I have downloaded a Maverick OS X 10.9.4 and installed it on my Mac from a USB, and i can't receive a Verification Code via SMS when setting up the iCloud Keychain. Please help.

    Hello, Kutoz.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Here is some information that you may find helpful with this issue.
I'm not receiving the verification code via SMS.
Make sure that you have a strong cellular network connection on your phone.
Make sure that your phone number can receive SMS messages. You can do this by asking someone to send you a text message.
Make sure that the correct phone number is associated with your account:
iOS 7.0.3 or later: Tap Settings > iCloud > Account, then tap Keychain. Make sure the phone number under Verification Number is correct. If not, enter another phone number.
OS X Mavericks v10.9 or later: Choose Apple () > System Preferences. Click iCloud, then click Account Details. Make sure the phone number listed under Verification number is correct. If not, enter another phone number.
If you can't access a device that has iCloud Keychain enabled, you can contact Apple Support and verify your identity to get help completing iCloud Keychain setup.

  • Can't enable iCloud keychain on any devices

I seem to have been logged out of Keychain on my two macs and my iPhone. When I try to sign in by getting approval from another device nothing happens and when I use the passcode I get a message saying "iCloud Keychain could not be restored due to a problem communicating with iCloud.
This is on an iPhone 5 and two MacBook Airs, all running the most up to date software.
All other iCloud services are working fine and dandy.
I've tried repairing permissions on the macs and logging out of all my iCloud accounts and back in.
I'm very much at a loss as to what else to try short of Applecare / Genius Bar!

If you can't receive the verification code via sms on your phone, then you need to contact Apple support as the prompt indicates.  They can verify your credentials and add your device to the keychain: http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/contact/.

  • How to enable iCloud Keychain for 3rd party apps?

I came across iCloud Keychain, which if enabled, lets you backup keychain passwords and restore on other iOS devices. Also read that 3rd party apps can integerate iCloud Keychain to their apps in order to ensure that the app's keychain items are backed up to iCloud Keychain. Would like to know more on what 3rd party apps can do with iCloud keychain.
    Even Appls's FAQ says so:
Does iCloud Keychain work with third-party apps?  Yes. Developers can update their apps to work with iCloud Keychain. Passwords saved by those apps are then kept up to date on all devices that use the app and running iOS 7.0.3 or later or OS X Mavericks v10.9 or later.
I couldn't really find implementation details. Please help.

If the the data is stored in the backup, it should restore to the iPad when you restore the backup. If that's not happening, sometimes it's becuase the data is stored on the app's server.
SInce you are not having any luck restoring the backup, I would do a Google search such as this one using thses parameters - without the quotes.
    "restore candy crush backup progress"
Personally, I do not trust any game that has in app purchases like these games have. It is my paranoid belief that the game developers do not want you to be able to restore your progress.

  • When I go to allow iCloud Keychain, the window keeps popping up?

I wish to enable iCloud Keychain successfully. I do the first four steps correctly and enter the correct answers (my four digit code for iCloud Keychain, my six digit code from my mobile phone to allow access, and the password for my email address to access iCloud to allow myself to enable iCloud Keychain), but then it asks me to enter my password once again for iCloud to enable iCloud Keychain. I have entered my password correctly, and then it comes up once again (IMMEDIATELY) and prompts me once again. I keep entering my password correctly but no matter what, it keeps coming up!
In the end I decided to click disallow and not have iCloud Keychain, but the box still comes up! It's also preventing me from turning off my MacBook Pro without forcing it to shut down (by the button).
    Thanks.

Providing your Apple ID is not a .me or a .Mac address, you can change it with Apple and continue to use your account.
Start here, change your country if necessary and go to manage your account.
Once who have done this you can then correct it on your mobile device.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
When you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
If however, your Apple ID was a .me or a .Mac address, then you will need to create a new account, follow the instructions above for deleting your account on your mobile device and then tap the "create Apple ID" button to create a new account.

  • When I first activated the iCloud keychain it was working great. But now it doesn't seem to be working on my iPod or iPads, i.e.: a wifi password it was able to use a few days ago over all devices now will only automatically work on the MacBook?

When I first activated iCloud keychain on my stuff (MacBook Pro, iPod and 2 iPads) it was working great and the all logged in to a wifi network that I had only used the password for on the MacBook. But yesterday the others all started asking for the password again (which I unfortunately don't remember and the friend who had it has recentlly had a stroke and also cannot remember it). I've tried turning iCloud keychain off and then back on again, but to no avail. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    Hi sofia124,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
It sounds like you may have either set the iPhone up as a new iPhone or restored from a backup that didn’t have your messages on it. If you do have either an iCloud or iTunes backup that you believe has your messages saved, you can restore from that backup to recover your information. Please use the attached article as a reference for restoring from a backup.
Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    Have a great day,

The following message appears when I try to turn on the iPad..."Not enough storage..this iPad cannot be backed up because there is not enough iCloud storage available. You can manage your storage in settings." When I tap Close or Settings nothing happens

Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

Everytime I try to turn off iCloud Keychain, my iPod's
