Messages using all my storage on 5s.
Getting a full storage message on my 5s. I was sure I needed to clean out my pictures, but its my messages. I tried deleting some old ones but that didn't budge it. The message app is using a massive amount of my storage. Any suggestions on how to fix it?

The majority of the 15.9 GB of space is most likely photos and videos that are attached to your messages. Before deleing your messages, review the attachments to determine if you want to save them. When you tap on an attachment to open it, you will see the share icon (looks like a rectangle with an arrow coming out of it). Tap the share icon to see your options (which include saving to the Camera Roll).
When you are ready to delete your messages, and you are looking at your message list, tap the Edit command in the top left corner of the window. Then tap on the red dot to the left of the message you wish to delete. A red box with the the word Delete will slide out. Tap on the red box to delete the message.

I too have the same problem after I upgraded to Firefox 5 today. I have a Tiscali webmail account, it lets me sign in but a message is displayed that I have "undefined e-mails".
I closed down Firefox and opened Internet Explorer. This allowed me to sign in and access my e-mails without any problems.
Had to smile to myself as Firefox required my e-mail address to register and verify my new account so I could place a post or reply to other peoples posts etc. As previously mentioned I can only access these via Internet Explorer! -
How do I manage photos between my ipad, iphone and imac without using all the storage on the various devices?
If enabled, iCloud Photo Stream ensures all new photos are sent to all your devices. Then you can simply add the ones you want to each one's Library, and delete any photos you don't want.
One technique is to designate one device as the "master" containing all your photos - probably your iMac, since it is likely to have the greatest available storage - and make sure you have a backup strategy for it. That way, any photos you choose to keep on your iPad and iPhone are redundant copies that can be deleted as you wish, or as required should you need to restore your iOS device. If your iMac breaks and its Library irretrievably lost, the importance of its backup becomes critical. Therefore, consider having more than one backup, and more than one geographical location for them. -
All external storage devices (USB HD, iPod, iPhone, SD card reader, etc) are not staying connected. Connection runs for 10-15 sec and the error message "card not ejected properly" appears. Have reformatted cards, performed a OSx install disk permissions and disk repair, re-installed and updated OSx, and PRAM reset. After the OSx reinstall I had no problems for about 2 days then my iPod shuffle sync triggered the error message. I follow good practice in ejecting disks from the Finder window or iTunes.
thought i had it licked after taking to the local service center. they checked out the hardware and felt there was no problem getting power to the USB and SD ports, eg the suspected cause of the eject. they thought it might be a buried permissions problem in some dl'ed software that the repair utility would not find/fix. sooo...i wiped the disk and reinstalled everything from scratch. worked for about a month and now its showing up again. just kicked off my shuffle. the sd reader self ejects after about 10 seconds. dunno where to go from here.

I have used up all my storage on my iPhone 4S, because I have a lot of photos that sync from my computer, a Mac with OSX 10.9.5. Can I take the photos off my phone, and then stop the ones on my computer from syncing back to my phone?

I understand that you would like to import your photos that have on your iPhone to your Mac and stop iTunes from syncing your photo albums from your Mac back to your iPhone. To accomplish this, I would first suggest importing your photos to your Mac using the instructions located in the article below.

After your pictures have been imported and you would like to removed your synced photos and albums from you iPhone, please follow the instructions located in the next attached article.

Delete synced photos
In iTunes, locate and click on your device.
Click Photos.
Choose "Selected albums" and deselect the albums or collections you want to delete.
To delete all synced photos, deselect "Sync Photos from" and, when asked, click "Remove photos."
Click Apply.

What's using all this storage?
When I look at the summary page in iTunes for my iPad Air, I see a bar near the bottom of the page broken up into various colored segments: audio, video, apps, etc. There is also one called "other". I can figure out what I have in the other areas but how do I find out what's using the most space in "other"? I'm getting close to running out of free space and I'd like to know who the worst offenders are so I can make an intelligent decision about whether they belong on the iPad or not.

I'm not sure what to do? The "other" is taking up almost all of my storage!!!
I saw that too right after the upgrade. I then connected the iphone to my MBP then did a sync and saw the Other go down to 1.5. What I noticed was that there was not an Orange bar for photos and the Other was huge but once I synced with the cable connected, it went back to normal. Hope that helps!

HT4910 how do i reset to use all the storage available? I have 10 available but it won't back up.

If you get the message "Backup not successful", I had the same problem.
My solution was to turn off some apps (Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>manage Storage, tap my device name in the Backups section, then look under Backup options) and try a manual backup. If it didn't work, turn off a few more apps and try a backup. Keep doing that until the backup works. Then try adding in some of the last batch of apps that were previously turned off - the objective is to find the app that causes the backup to fail. For me, I suspect that the one app I found had a bad data file that, when included in the backup, caused the backup to quit.
This can be a long process if you have a lot of apps that you originally turned on for backups. -

When I send a message on MESSAGES using my iPad2, they do not show up on my iPhone or my MacBook Mountain Lion messages. Did I miss a setting on any of the devices as I thought iCloud took care of syncing all of my devices

This "Untrusted Connection" is coming up when I try to access my on-line banking site which I use all the time. I also get a OpenDNS message about Phishing and I'm not sure why or what that is. The same thing is happening on my laptop which has Windows 7.

I updated my iPhone to ios5. Receive error message " could no activate iPhone" iTunes message says there is no SIMM in phone. The SIMM I have used all along has not been removed.I know I answered you before on this but can't find the thread. Guess you didn't like my answer. Your phone was illegally hacked to unlock it and when you updated the phone it relocked it back to the original carrier. This made the sim you had in the phone useless and therefore it cannot activate the phone. Nothing can be done in these forums to help you fix your problem as it is against the TOS to discuss illegal unlocking or jailbreaking the phone.

Iphoto is using up all my storage and increasing in size.
I uploaded about 8 Gb of photos to my macbook pro. Right after I started doing some work, came back and it now says that i have 18 Gb's of photos uploaded to my mac? Why do the photos keep increasing in size. iPhoto is using so much storage.
Where in iPhoto is this 18gb referred to?
What the iPhoto Window reports is the nominal size of the resulting folder if you exported everything from iPhoto at the "Current" setting.
The iPhoto Library in the Finder contains your original photos, thumbnails, previews, cache, database and metadata files. it is always larger than reported by the iPhoto Window.
If disk space is an issue then you can put the Library on an external disk:
Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
1. Quit iPhoto
2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.

Why did the recent update to ios 7.0.4 use up all my storage (over 9 GB)? I have no storage for music and apps. There is over 9GB designated to "other" under usage now. I only have 16 GB total.
Text, the best way is to take screen shots, or if you can forward them to your email. Your notes are either saved by your email or with icoud. They can help you find out where they are saved at.
The resest is easy. I would say it best to also save your photos on your computer as well as a extra back up so you can also see them. Depending if you have Mac use Iphoto and import all photos, Windows use I am drawing a blank, but you can go to your start menue and then your phone will show up as a removable device and then left click and transfer photos and videos.
After that you will be set. But it will take a bit to get all of your text taken care of thought.
Also if you have non-programed email address like Roadrunner ect. You will need the incomming and out going server information SMTP ect.
