Messages with iOS 5

Since I installed iOS 5, the messages I receive don't show the name of the sender, but only the phone number. how can i change that?

Did you check Settings > Messages. In there, iMessage On, Send as SMS On, Received At "your_phone_number_here", MMS Messaging On.

Does anyone have Ford sync allowing text messaging with IOS 7.0.4?

I had all the settings working when I was on ios 6, but now that I have upgraded it quit working. I removed the sync from my phone and removed the phone from my phone from sync then paired again. Then set the sync notifications back to on but still no text. Does anyone have ford sync allowing text messaging with IOS 7.0.4?

I need to update, my messaging is now working. Apparently after going through the steps and the settng notifications to on all I had to do was turn off the car, open the door, and then return. When I got in my car this morning the text messaging (recieve only) was working.

Messages is part of Mountain Lion. Older OS's still use iChat.

How do I hide the keyboard when replying to a message in iOS 7.0.4 so that I can read the entire text I'm replying to. I can't scroll up if keyboard is in place.

Why can't I leave group messages with iOS 8?

I updated my 5c to iOS 8 but I'm not able to leave group messages. I click under the Details for the group message but it doesn't present an option to leave.

I suspect your group message includes non-apple devices within the group?
I am able to leave group conversations that consist only of iPhones. However, I am unable to leave a group message that contains non-apple devices such as androids, dumb phones, etc. Very annoying, since the conversation I want to leave consists of non-apple devices
I have a potential solution: I'm going to try blocking one of the numbers from the group text. I'll post back my results.
If that doesn't work, I'm going to try turning off the "Group MMS" option within the settings, and then blocking the person who initially started the conversation.

Yes because you two are sharing the same apple id for imessage prob for facetime and icloud.
You can share the same apple id for musics and apps, but different id, for imessage/facetime and icloud.
Go to settings - message - send&receive - you can be reached at - hit the circl i next to the apple id - remove this email.
then whomever gets the new email go back there and then add the new apple id.

Can't get or send text message with ios 7.0.3 update

after installing ios 7.0.3 i can no longer send or recieve imessages. All my old texts are gone fromthe phone.

My wife and I were having same issue after upgrading to iOS 7.0.3. I called apple support and they said it was because we were using the same Apple ID for iMessage/FaceTime on both iPhones. I created a new Apple ID (just for iMessage/FaceTime) on my phone and it seems to have fixed my issues. Using original Apple ID on my wife's phone and mms hasn't started functioning for pics yet on that device. iMessage is working fine however. We always turned the email part of iMessage/FaceTime off, so I'm not sure why it started being an issue now. FYI, I was told that iMessage and FaceTime should use same Apple IDs.

IPhone is green in text messages with iOS 8

My wife has an iPhone 6 and when she tries to send me text messages using my iPhone 6 plus phone number, the balloons are green, not blue. When you look up my phone number in contacts it is listed as an iPhone and the phone number is blue. We have turned off SMS and reset Network settings, turned SMS back on, on both of our phones. Not sure where the issue resides. When she uses my iCloud email the texts are blue.Any thoughts?

Just as a side note: this doesn't matter one way or the other. You could give a number a custom label "rutabaga" and iMessage would still work.
In addition to Chris's advice, you might try resetting your network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings.

it actually needs more space than that. The file size is your 65 mb is probably the ota incremental file size. The full package is 700 mg, and the system needs 3 gig of free space to unpack and install.

After I got a visitor with iOS 7 on his phone he would like to charge his phone with my Laptop and cable.But when he plugged it in it showed a message wich says: " This cable or accessory is not certified and may not work reliably with this phone".
How is this possible? I then phoned the shop and told them my problem. When I gave them the details I also found out that the imei No. in the iPhone is the same as on the original box. You are right, but how could i send it to Apple? when the phone company first replaced my iphone they had in stock alots of iphones and they just sent mine back to Apple and gave me a new one, so all i did is to give them my phone, but now how could i sent it to Apple? and i cant send it by myself, and the store wont do that, its a lost for them.. so sending it to Apple wasnt an option from the begining.
and for the record, i dont think the store where i bought it is an authorized shop.. its just a store who boughts phone's from Apple in a low price and sells it in much more money..
